Riley heard the conversation. So Simon was in the river. At least he was away from the danger. The scientists and guards were heading back to the lab. They had given up at the moment but that didn't mean that they would ever try again. Slowly, Riley walked out of the shed. She turned around and looked up at, now, two boys on the roof. "Guys come down. They're gone and there's a secret passage way that we can get safely through." Riley went back inside and knocked twice on the door in the corner.

Beth was slightly shocked, but not entirely surprised by Nancy's words. "Well, as long as he was alright when he went in, you probably are right. Especially if we're going to be here for any length of time. It'll keep his skin damp so he doesn't dry out and get sick."
Just then, she heard a double knock on the door. Shoving the door open, there stood Riley all by herself. "Welcome back. That didn't take long. We've got a bit of news: Nancy saw Simon fall into the river. If you didn't see him, it's probably safe to assume that he's still there." Beth stood aside while still holding the door so that Riley could get inside.

nodding his head to riley he looks around for any signs of guards before he decides to go in.

Riley jumped down and took the flashlight back. As she held the door open for the others, she looked around the tunnel. "That's our only way out of here safely." She pointed. "I don't know where it will take us, but it's our best bet our of here."

"Pleasure's mine." Tristan said. He sighed as well when he told him the information. "Yea, damn guards..." he said.
When Riley came to them he jumped. He didn't like cat DNA at all. He followed Riley and looked down the tunnel. "Are you sure? Is there any other ways?" Tristan asked, his voice held a bit of disgust in it.

As Tristan jumped down, Riley sniffed the air. Strange. I just got a sudden urge for chicken. She shook it off and turned to Tristan. The flashlight was still pointing towards the tunnel. "Do you have another idea in mind? Cause if not this is our only option. If we go out there, the scientists and guards will be on us faster than you can say freedom."

"Al-alright." Tristan said. He didn't feel comfortable with a cat in a dark tunnel. He thought that he would get eaten. "Uh...we should hurry then..." he said uncertainly.

Riley picked up Michael and started to walk down the other end. It seemed like the tunnel last forever. Finally after what seemed like hours, Riley found the other door. She carefully opened it up and when she found that it was safe, she climbed up. The bright sun was burning her eyes. In the distance she could hear a road but they were too far away to see any cars. "Now where are we?" She said aloud.

Nancy blinked and looked around. In the back of her head she was accessing memories from months before, when she still belonged to the human world. "Ummm... I'd say we're pretty far into the reserve that belongs to the facility," she said. "But the end can't be more than a few miles away." She looked back at Riley. "Are we anywhere near the mansion you were talking about?"

Riley walked for a few feet and looked at the tree. It had been years since she had been outside. To her the trees looked different and bigger but she still knew the way back to the mansion. "It will at least take a few days to get there if we walk. But if I can find a pay phone and some change I can make a phone call."

When Riley decided to move the group out through the tunnel, Beth took up Michael's place at rear. Riley had given the job of rear guard to Michael, but with him out of commission for the time being, Beth decided that she would take his place.
As the others were filing past into the tunnel, she saw a new boy, a bird type, who was watching Riley with a rather nervous look. Beth wanted to smile at him, to let him know that they would be alright. But she had a feeling that part of the reason he was so nervous had to do with the fact that he was a bird and Riley was a cat. Beth had the feeling that her own fangy smile wouldn't do much to ease the boy's nerves, so she just let him go past and followed after the last person had gone into the tunnel.
After hours of walking, they followed Riley out and into the light. The rain had stopped and the sun was shining brightly. For a moment, the sun burned Beth's eyes. It had been so long since she had been in the sun. She listened to Nancy and Riley's conversation with mild interest. It wasn't till Riley mentioned about a phone and making a call that Beth took any real notice. "Wait a sec. Who would you call? I mean, look at all of us. Who would help us? I don't mean to be rude, but I don't know anyone who would accept us like this."

Riley looked at Beth. At first she was afraid to say but they would find out eventually. "My brother." She told her. Riley picked Michael back up and started walking. "We have a long way to go." She mumbled. Her legs were tired but the thought of seeing her brother again kept her going. "If anyone needs to stop let me know and we'll rest." Riley said the others.
I'm coming, brother. She thought. I'm coming.

Beth's eyes went a little wide at Riley's answer. She felt just a little bit rude now after saying what she had. With her past, Beth had little trust in family, but deep down, she knew that not all families were that bad, and if Riley trusted her brother, Beth would too, and hope for the best. "Oh. Ok. Sorry. Well, one problem down, but where we gonna find some money and a phone?"
