Coralie had been stunned by the pink room and still hadn't recovered by the time the trio had reached the outdoors. She dreaded having to return to the dorm and was glad for every moment she could spend away from the monstrosity. Pink had never been her colour.
The green of the grass, the calm blue of the sky, and the cheeriness of the sun helped to ease her pain. Soon, Coralie found herself taking in the heavy aroma of the flowers and the fresh scent of grass. Their was a pleasant smattering of chatter in the fields that made her smile. She was practically a stranger to the sun, having been shut inside for the majority of her childhood, but being under its warm glow now seemed completely natural. She basked in it, hoping to push the feeling that she had done something wrong away into the back of her mind. She felt horrible for making Aaric feel guilty, and just wanted to forget about, at least for the moment.
Never one to take charge of the situation, the girl stayed quiet and waited uncertainly for one of the twins to head to a blanket.

Damien watched with one cocked eyebrow as the girl stuttered an apology and turned, only to fall flat on her face. He broke into laughter - his was harsh and quiet at the same time, a rather uncomfortable sound on the ears - but by that time she was already too far away to hear.
"That girl irritates me," he stated quite plainly, the disdain clear in his face. "I've never liked it when people apologize too much for something they haven't done." He glanced pointedly at Cassi, having gotten that same feeling from her just moments ago. "You better never do it to me," he said with a small smile on his otherwise serious face.
He stood suddenly and looked in the direction of the picnic. His sensitive ears caught cheerful sounds. Damien glanced down at Cassi with his steel grey eyes and asked, "It looks like they're just about ready. Would you like to go to lunch now, or arrive fashionably late?" His crooked smile played on his lips as he waited for an answer.

Lukas's amber eyes shifted over from Toby to the princess who had asked his name. "Lukas..." he replied, feeling no pride in that name whatsoever. "And you are..." he began to ask but then remembered her from this morning, "Ah yes, you're the girl who screamed this morning. What a way to remember that..." Toby glanced back at Lukas, eyeing him about his small tease of the princess. "Don't look at me that way, I'm just saying..." he said to Toby before looking back at the princess. "As I was saying," he continued, "You sure have quite a reaction to huge abnormal creatures."

((Damn it's been a long time...))
Cassi hesitated for a moment, before returning his smile. She was finding it easier and easier to relax around Damien, despite his coursness. To be honest, she didn't really know what had come over her a short while ago. Normally, she was never like that. She didn't apologize needlessly and she certainly didn't act like a little girl. Sighing slightly, she vowed to herself to never act like that again, especially around Damien. Again it occured to her that for someone whom she'd only met a few short hours ago, his opinion mattered very much to her. Odd that.
"We could always frolic once more around the garden before joining them," she said softly, a small bit of wickedness sparking in her eyes. "It's always fun to see what the gossips will come up with. And besides, they're no rules declaring we all have to eat at the same time, are there?"
As they slowly made their way across the path to the picnic in the garden, Anita became aware of the tension between herself and Lord Lawley. She knew that she was silent because she enjoyed the silence, but as far as Anita could tell, Lawley was usually one to fill said silence. She wondered what was making him so...awkard. Thinking about it, she wondered if maybe he was getting tired of her overly formal actions. After all, most if not all of the other teachers already spoke with each other on a first name basis. Hesitating for just a moment, she let out a small breath and turned to look at him. "Is...is everything alright...Lawley?"
He was silent for a moment and grateful when she chose not to mention his blush. He seemed to be doing that quite a lot around this lady. Smiling slightly at that thought, he turned back to her and offered up another smile, the blush fading slightly as he relaxed. "We could sit next to the other teachers if you like?"

Grace blushed. She had completely forgotten about that. Usually she was a daredevil, but seeing a spider the size of a teapot out of the blue like that... Quickly she laughed it off, trying to convince herself and the others that it didn't matter. "In my defense though, Lukas, that has got to be the biggest spider in the universe," she said. Her lips hovered toward a smile. The dog shook a bit and threw itself down on the blanket. The sun warmed its fur, and its mouth fell open in a canine grin.

Damien smirked, satisfied that she had given him her word. Sure, she hadn't said outright that she would never be as bumbling as the other princess, but he could see it on her face. He didn't need a spoken promise.
His smirk grew wider at her suggestion and he nodded. "I doubt Miss Lady Florizel would approve," he drawled, glancing back momentarily at the picnic. "Let's be off."
With an overly dramatized prance and a skip, Damien led the way to the gardens. He held about him an odd air of slow, lazy grace. Each movement was smooth and flowing but it seemed impossible for him to move at a rate faster than slow. His silly twirling ceased as the two stepped into the rows of flowers.
At this distance the scent was near unbearable. He made a face as he stopped, feeling his nose burn at the heavy, powdered scent of flowers. "Jesus, the smell." His eyes spoke contempt as they burned into the waving heads of colour. "One day I'm going to rip them all out. I've never liked flowers much."

Silently, Lady Maybelline sat there. Arabella was still nibbling on a piece of apple, her white head bobbing up and down slightly. The Lady said nothing, emerald eyes watching Taite out of the corner her eye. She saw his hand, and glanced down at her own. Her face showing nothing, fingers crawled over until her hand was resting beside his, her skin brushing against his. Yet she still had a serene smile on her face that revealed nothing, long blonde hair resting on her right shoulder.
"Only if you want to." Josephine smiled up at Canis, with loving black eyes. She had never felt so free. With her free hand, the pianist twirled a strand of ruby red hair around her finger, listening to the silent swish of her dress against her skin. Slowly, she could see the picnic, and replaced her loving smile with a calm and unreadable one, luscious red lips not closed as tightly, but instead curled into a light easygoing smile.

Amira laughed at the grin on Toby's face, then rubbed his stomach. The dog's tongue lolled out happily as she turned to listen to Grace. "I don't know about the universe, Grace," she said with a clever grin to her friend. She turned to Lukas to see his reaction. "But I'll give you the world, wouldn't you Lukas?" Amira cocked her head to the side, about to giggle, but keeping a subtle, casual smile on her face.
"Yes, mostly just class preparations," Lady Taite said, sounding bored and uninterested with what was going on with herself. "What have you two been up to?" She absentmindedly fingered the tassels of her dress as she asked, feeling the silk from the blankets beneath her fingers at the same time. Sometimes chatter bored her. She liked to do more exciting things, or at least talk about something interesting, instead of work, as usual. Lady Florizel had heaped another class on her until she could find another instructor.
"Well, let's not just stand here," Aaric said, almost putting a hand on each of his companions' backs and leading them to a blanket. But he reminded himself mentally only inches from Coralie's back. No physical contact. Feeling a bit frustrated with this block, he walked toward one of the silk blankets and sat down on it cross-legged, getting his lunch. He wondered what Coralie was so nervous about, but resisted asking her. Don't be nosy, Aaric. He took a bite out of a strange red-colored fruit that he had never seen before. It was actually rather good, which surprised him. "Mm. Try this," he said, sliding the plate in Coralie's direction.
Oh god, he was boring her. Lord Lawley looked down at Anita, his eyebrows furrowed. He ran a hand through his hair. "I suppose," he said, looking away from her. "It's just that..." Just that what? He wanted to start a conversation, and he had already said something, but he didn't know how to finish it. "I thought you wanted some silence."

Lord Taite choked on his picnic at Lady Taite's smalltalk. "Been up to?" he asked breezily. "Oh, you know, the usual." Though his day had been anything but... His eyes drifted over to Lady Maybelline under the pretense of expecting an answer from her. They traveled down as he felt the slight touch of her hand. Lady Taite would either love this or hate this, and he certainly didn't want either from her.

Lukas began chuckling at Amira's words and nodded. "Sure. I would agree to that," he teased. Toby threw his head to the side and stared at Lukas. His eyes glittered as Lukas took noticed what the dog must be thinking at the moment. Lukas's face turned serious and looked away. He just realized that he had chuckled in front of the girls and along teasing them. At the corner of his eyes, he could see Toby's grin wide enough to show his canine teeth while laughter filled the dog's brown eyes. "Very funny," he muttered to himself but then couldn't help grinning at the dog's thoughts. Very smart..., he thought as he eyed the dog, wondering if Toby could see what his thoughts were.
Toby gave a bark as he panted with his tongue out. He wagged his long golden tail side to side, feeling giddy at the moment as if he understood Lukas's thoughts.

Uh oh. Blushing starkly, Anita wasn't really sure what to do or say. She wondered if he was getting bored with her. Thinking quickly, she glanced up at him, the blush becoming even more obvious as she realized he was looking at her. "I...um, I like....I like listeningtoyoutalk." In the end, Anita sped her words up at the end, knowing she sounded stupid but wanting to tell him what she....liked.
Canis hesitated for a moment when he saw how her features became less open and he wondered why she did that. But then again, he didn't really have to wonder. Glancing at her, he let a small smile form. "That would be why I asked you."
She couldn't help but to smile as she watched him skip and prance ahead of her, her own steps sedate. It wasn't hard to keep up with him. As they came upon the garden and the almost overpowering scent of the flowers, Cassi was curious as to his reaction. Although most of the flowers she didn't recognize, the smell was fine if one simply adjusted themselves. But of course, she'd never seen most of these before, so the opposite reactions made since. "I quite like them." Pointing to the one that looked similiar to the she'd pricked herself on earlier, she turned to him. "You called that one a...rose?"
