"What is it?" Delilah asked in hush tones well aware that Meridian had ran into the cave.
"No, no, no!" Zarina cried again trying to stop the dragon. "We have to go!"

"Lizard-Lip, you shouldn't try me in this state," Sangula muttered as she sensed the invasion of her dwelling. "You should have listened to the child..." she said as the cave walls began to shake.
Zarina yelped as the first large rock fell down right in front of her. "The roof! It's caving it!"

"Ohh man, this isn't going to work! Everyone out!" He picked up the closest baby to him and threw her top of him and grabbed Delilah, rushing them all out.

“Sleep my little Dracul,” Sangula whispered to the yawning baby dragon curled up in the center of her lair. “Let your dreams take wing. One day when you’re big and strong…” You’ll give me everything! Everything I’ve ever wanted. The power, the strength, unique to the dragon’s blood…it will all be mine!
“That’s my girl…” Sangula sneered knowing Zarina had left with Lizard-lips and that silly little demon. Of her three daughters, Zarina had shown the most promise. She had that certain twist to her personality, the cunning, the ruthlessness…what more could a mother ask for. She would stay with her weakling sister and idiot father until the time came for Dracul to fulfill his purpose and the great feast would begin!

“Again!” Sangula growled as she watched Dracul finish the training run she‘d created for him. “You’re still too slow. Do it again!”
Dracul huffed, “This is pointless. I’ve already run the exercise more times than I can count, this is as good as I get…”
“Not good enough,” the vampiress snapped at him, her fangs piercing the scales that protected his shoulder. “Now…” she hissed licking his blood from her lips. “You will run it again and again until you perform to my satisfaction or you die. Those are your only options. Remember, no one else wants you. Your father didn’t even want you…”
“I know…” Dracul growled in response. “I know. He came and he took my sisters away…”
“And left the unwanted child.”
“And left…me.”
“That’s right. And you know why he left you? Because you are my son and you are a dragon, like him…” She lowered her voice as the told him the familiar tale. “He knew you would be strong. He didn’t you to grow up and take his power from him. So he left you with me. He expected me to kill you…
“But you haven’t,” he said knowing what would come next.
“Not yet,” she said coldly. “Do as I tell you and you’ll have nothing to fear. Disappoint me and I will drain you just as I’ll drain each and every one of your father’s miserable offspring…Now,” she growled again, her crimson eyes sparkling dangerously. “You can’t expect to hunt down the dragons when you can‘t even complete a little trial in good time. Run it again…”

Meridian couldn't sleep. Bad dreams were plauging him and he shuffled around, trying not disturb Delilah. His Delilah. Despite the frown he had from the nightmare, the though of her made him smile. He cuddled her closer.
The dreams were getting worse, and he was fairy sure what their source was - his son. The son he had left behind without ever seeing. He had to go back for him, but how would he save him?

Delilah's eyes fluttered open slowly. Something wasn't quite right... "Meridian?" she looked up and saw that he was awake and nuzzled his chin in the dark. "What is it? What's wrong?"
