Donovan peered up as the elf walked closer to him, and hoped to all his ancesntors that Feng and Ryu never grow up to be that tall. It was already akward enough that they were taller than him at teen stage. Still, he had to admit, he always wondered what an unusually tall elf would look like (since normal was 7 feet and up).
Lin peered up too, thankfully because she was in Donovan's pocket she could see further than normal, but thanks to the man's height she could only see his chest as usual anyways.

"Well, I wouldn't be playing at all by that time anyways, I'm sure," Haradhel smiled. "But thank you for the thought. I'm sure Ulrich and Ulani will help us to prepare for it. Come to think of it, if I were to ask either Ulani or Aliya, I'm sure they could show me what a winter out here looks like."
"Elros," Elrohir smiled. "This is Donovan Lau, our employer, and his son Triton Winters, and his daughter Lin."
He was rather enjoying himself at the moment. He liked Donovan well enough now, but that didn't mean that he didn't enjoy seeing the man being surprised now and again.

Elros knelt to one knee so that he was closer to everyone else's height (this left him about midway between Donovan and Triton's heights) and examined them all closely, his cold blue eyes piercing.
"Welcome," he said softly, nodding his head respectfully.

"How?" Cindy of course hadn't actually seen Ulani or Aliya's ability.
So she didn't know about the wishsong.

He blinked, and shrugged off the piercing look, deciding the man would make a good interrgator by looks alone if it ever came down to it. Though it was a bit disconcerning to know that the man had to kneel in order for them to see eye to eye well.
"Thank you," Donovan replied.
Lin though wasn't at all put off by his eyes, probably because she was so young, and being young had not learnt fear yet. After all she stalked Ruel as a game, she didn't have much in the ways of nervousness as long as there was no sign that a person was going to become violent.
"How did you grow to be so tall?"
Donovan sighed mentally, it looks like she was at it again.

Triton chuckled a bit at Lin's question, it was innocent enough he supposed. Lin was one of those children who wanted to grow up tall, probably because she was tired of being called cute.
"It's a pleasure."

"Every elf of the Southland - or nearly every - is born with a gift called the Wishsong," Haradhel explained. "Elrohir's family is, as far as I know, the only exception, and that was because of something that happened to the queen's mother, before the queen was born. Anyways, there are two basic types that are based on their strength: that of illusion, and that of reality. Most people can only create images with their magic, while others - like Ulani, for example, can create reality."

Elros looked down at Lin and examined her closely, his face perfectly expressionless. There were many ways that he could answer her question, but there was one way that was particularly slimple.
"How did you grow so small?" he replied to her in a soft voice.

"Make things into reality?" Cindy murmured.
She had seen illusions, and see snow created seemly from thin air, but she couldn't imagine something that wasn't there just existing all of a sudden.
"I see.. .I think."

"I didn't grow small, I was born small, I haven't grown yet!" Lin replied back.
Of course she wanted to grow up big like her Daddy, but she wondered if she had to do anything special to do that first. After all, her brothers Yue and Yukito were tall, so was Triton, but he wasn't as tall as her Daddy. While Feng and Ryu were really tall, but they didn't count since it was their talls the cause for it.

Haradhel laughed softly. "I'm sorry, I'm giving false ideas. No, it can't be used to make just anything, but there are those who, for example, can create a defensive fire with it, or a sprinkling rain ... only elemental things, and only briefly and weakly ... though Ulani and Aliya are the only two I know who can even do that much. No, for the most part, people can only make illusions that feel like reality, but vanish the moment they stop singing."

"And I was born tall," Elros replied with a gentle smile. "Not this tall, obviously, but very tall, and so I grew very tall. You can do nothing to make yourself either taller or shorter, it is beyond anyone's control."
He rose to his feet again, still smiling gently, and blinked slowly at Donovan and Triton, his cold blue eyes piercing and searching, then looked Lin again. "Even the elves of this land can no longer grow so tall," he murmured softly. "There has not been one like me in many Ages."

"I see..." Cindy murmured.
At least she could see where the term wishsong came from. That sounded interesting though.

Lin wondered if she was told how many Ages there were, she did not think there were a lot, but she wasn't quite so sure. She blinked, but since he said many Ages, that meant that before him there had to be elves older than him, which....
The little wheels in her head began to turn, she couldn't remember if Sir Valemdar was taller or as tall as this man or not.
Donovan could see the glimmer in her eye, as she was thinking, he had a funny feeling Lin just found the person she would like to hang out with. He really hoped she wasn't going to get into any trouble here.
"She's plotting something..." Donovan mused thoughtfully.

Haradhel pulled out a second large pot and started transferring the peeled potatoes from the first one to it.
"This should be enough," she told Cindy, nodding at the one she was working on.
