She blew a raspberry. Psht.
The farther in, the deeper it became. More room to move - her battlefield was becoming wider with every step he took. She slid deeper and deeper into the lake, a sweet smile forming upon her lips: let him come! Her finger itched to beckon him, just to goad him, and though his words of eating her were a little off-putting, her smile never wavered.
The slender mermaid disappeared beneath the water again, and just as he decided to lunge, she shot forward and grabbed his ankle, pulling it out from beneath him. Fun, fun~
She twisted in water and turned, back brushing the bottom of the lake as she swam out even deeper to escape. When she resurfaced, her nose and above only, she turned to see if what she had done had managed to make him fall.

Oh lovely, swallowing water was just what he wanted to do in the midst of their little skirmish. He felt his fur getting heavy with the water and he gulped down another mouthful on his way to the surface. The wolf gagged once he reached the air and gave his head a shake, his ears twitching and shivering from the cold water. His wet form shivering he went back to the shore and sat on the land where it was more shallow.
"Aww who'd wanna eat you, you probably taste all gross and sour if your attitude is any indication." He snorted quietly.

She gave a brazen laugh, lips puckering as she cooed mockingly after him. He couldn't possibly be a sea bourne, seeing as he had gotten a little ruffled after falling into the water. What a sight! She grinned and pushed herself up, showing her amusement openly.
"You look so pretty now! The wet rag look suits you better than what you really look like," she chuckled, head canting to the side. She ventured close enough to feel the bottom of her fin brush against the bottom, but not any farther. She hated feeling like a beached whale.
"A lot of people," Odette reasoned, spreading her hands above the water. "There's a legend that if you eat the flesh of a mermaid, you'll live forever."
She tapped her chin thoughtfully, eyes flicking skyward, "But we aren't dumb enough to allow you two-leggers close enough to get a nibble."

Yi Xian wasn't quite sure if she was being serious when she mentioned that he looked good so he simply turned his face away, glancing over to his clothes to see how they faired in drying so far. He'd likely have to carry his boots for a while but he didn't see any reason why he couldn't put his coat back on, to keep warm at the very least.
"Who in their right mind would want to live forever? And besides which if you're too sensible to let yourself be eaten then how did that legend get started? Likely just someone trying to off you is my guess."

"I suppose not all of us are as bright as I am," Odette shrugged, eyes falling shut. "Some are easily swayed, or have faulty ambition."
A soft frown tugged at her lips, brows beetling as her eyes opened to stare at the water. Whatever mermaid chose legs over a fin was a moron, and had no right to be called a sea dweller. How could one be more taken with the land above ground than that below? A sort of awkward frustration began to burn the pit of her belly and the back of her throat.
"No, some of us are just downright stupid," she bit off angrily, wavering voice carrying across the water. It wasn't directed at Yi Xian, though she wished it was. You couldn't really argue or insult someone if they weren't there...
She cleared her throat and lowered herself deeper into the water, "There was a story of a human girl who ate one of my people...they say she lived for 800 years." - a sigh - "But who cares. She was just another human."

Fat Panda. Lena smiled and nodded "it is very pretty..." she said as she gazed up at the tree. Shinji bowed to Lena with a laugh and made himself comfortable on the blanket again. He picked up his sandwhich and started on it, setting it down a moment to take a drink of one of the sodas he'd grabbed from home. We should do this more often...he said, nodding in agreement with himself. It's really nice out here! he laughed, moving back to finish his sandwhich.

Shinji watched Lena some as he nibbled on grapes. After a few minutes, he shifted to lay as well, heaving a sigh of the full tummy kind before laughing some. So...what's on your mind, lovey? he asked in a soft tone, shifting slightly to look to Lena.

Shinji laughed and sat back up, scooting close to lean over Lena and kiss her softly. It's up to you, love. If you'd rather stay here in the peaceful outdoors, then that's fine with me...he said, smiling as he looked down to her.

Shinji smiled as he lay back down with Lena. Sounds good to me...he said softly, leaning to kiss her tenderly again. He wasn't going to lie, he'd rather be alone with her anytime. The thought made him laugh some, thus breaking the kiss. He looked down to Lena, sort of slipping from reality.
