Cindy tilted her head slightly, Ulani wasn't kidding when she said it wasn't much to look at.

"Oh.. I see," she murmured, "Does it only grow here?"
PostPosted: Thu Nov 15, 2007 3:16 pm

"That I know of," Ulani nodded. "I've never seen it anywhere else. I suppose it might grow in the Southland a bit, perhaps in the Eastland, but that's about it, if even that. It's rare, and to be honest how many people would want a plant like this around when there are so many others that bloom for months on end, or even all year round?"

She shrugged and sat on the ground beside the children, patting the ground next to her, inviting Cindy to sit as well.

Cindy took a seat on the ground next to Ulani, folding her legs under her so that her skirt could over her legs and keep them warm. Though she supposed they were going to fall asleep on her now, her legs that is.

"I suppose so," Cindy murmured.

A cloud passed over the moon, hiding it from view for a moment; but as the moonlight returned to bathe the area in its silver light, there was a stirring on the plant.

Ulani, Aliya and Adonai all hushed and watched as the tiny green buds on the plant twitched and began to open. The process was, in comparison with any other plant, quite quick; but it took a span of several minutes for them to unfurl and reveal the blossoms within. The flowers themselves took another few minutes to bloom completely, rows and rows of thin white petals rather like the lily of the water, but with an almost ethereal glow. The centers were bright yellow, and they released a golden dust that blew away on the wind, scattering in every direction and making the forest appear to shimmer in the moonlight.

A scent was released with the dust, the smell of beauty, of life, a delicious smell that enraptured those who smelled it. It was perfect strength: heavy enough to smell, but light enough that it wasn't oppressive or thick.

Her eyes widen at the sight of such lovely flowers that seemed to have a power under the moon all of thier own. She took a deep breath in to take in the scent. This was a sight to be had, and she was glad she had come.

Under the moon with it's slivery light that bathed down upon the flowers and on them. There was a tingling feeling along her skin, but she thought perhaps the pollen dust had tickled against her skin.

"It's beautiful," Cindy murmured.

Ulani smiled, her attention fully on the flowers.

"And fully worth waiting an entire year to see, again and again," she murmured.

Yes ... indeed it was well worth it. She just couldn't help but wonder how in the world she had missed it for the thousand years she had spent living in this same valley, in the same house where she and Ulrich had returned to upon their return to the Four Lands.

"It is," Cindy agreed, "Too bad there isn't any way to keep the smell," she murmured as she took out her sketch book.

She took out her booknote and used the light moon to sketch a bit of the flower. Though she was sure the sketch wouldn't do it justice. As the moon glowed upon them, there seemed to be a sort of energy that wanted to pour out. Cindy, could not feel it at first, but as she paused to look up at the night sky she noticed how full the moon really was.

It was different from other moons she would look wistfully up at, it seemed to her so large to the point where it took up her vision. Moon rays flittered across her skin, and she saw in her mind's eye something she could not explain. Memories that were not hers, and she could only see that.

Her skin glowed like the orb in the sky as her body grew, her hair, her wings and she changed.

When she would come back to her senses Cindy would find herself on the ground staring up at the night sky. It felt kind of cold she would think, and the grass was tickling her.

"Cindy! Cindy! Cindy!"

Ulani was kneeling over Cindy, her face filled with panic, calling her name over and over again in a strangled sort of voice. When Cindy had glowed, changed, and fallen to the ground, her heart had nearly stopped. Now, as she watched the girl's eyelids flutter and open, she breathed an enormous sigh of relief and buried her face in her hands, then looked at her again anxiously.

"Cindy," she called again, "are you all right? Tell me you're all right ..."

Behind her, Aliya had a weeping Adonai wrapped tightly in her arms and was staring in shock, the flowers completely and utterly forgotten.

Cindy blinked a bit more as she lifted her head a bit to look down at herself. The dress wasn't going to be useable any time in the near future, nevermind the fact it didn't fit anymore.

"Over a year and a half of not growing and it had to be now?" was the first question out of Cindy's mouth.

She would love to explain this to her mother.

Ulani could have cried, she was so relieved. "Thank the Valar," she breathed, holding her hands out to Cindy to help her up. "You're all right."

Her eyes were glowing with relief, and she was shaking slightly from the shock.

"I thought you said you were finished growing," she murmured softly.

Aliya leaned forward to peer around her mother, and broke into a wide grin.

"You're okay!" she shouted, jumping to her feet and carrying her brother over to Cindy and Ulani. "What happened?"

Cindy shook her head as she sat up, straightening out feathers on wings that were larger, but not large like her mother's, they were more like Yue and Yukito's.

"I just never had any of my other growths," she explained, "My mind kept aging, but I just stopped growing for some reason," she looked up at Aliya with a reassuring smile, "I grew."
PostPosted: Thu Nov 15, 2007 5:50 pm

Aliya's eyes were still wide. "Well, I knew that!" she exclaimed. "But how? Why? I've never seen anyone grow that fast, ever! You grew even faster than the flowers came out!"

Ulani unclasped her cloak and slung it around Cindy's shoulders to cover her up a bit more, since her dress was little more than ... well, small rags now.

"I think we should head back," she murmured, nodding at Aliya. "See if you can't get him to stop crying," she added, frowning softly at Adonai. "He's just scared, I'm sure."

"Maybe you should take him, then, Mum," Aliya suggested, passing her brother off to her mother. Once Adonai was safely in his mother's arms (still wailing loud enough to wake the dead), Aliya moved to stand beside Cindy.

"Come on," she smiled, "I'll show you the way back home."

Cindy winced at hearing Adonai's loud crying, she really had scared the poor boy. She really did hope it didn't mean she would be back at square one with him.

She rose from the ground brushing her legs off before wrapping the cloak tightly around herself. It was a curious question, because she had never thought about it. It was just a normal occurance.

"Thanks," Cindy murmured, "And this is normal, there are a lot of races back home that grow in stages."

It was the reason why they grew so fast and why they learned fast. Their minds had to catch up with their bodies.

Aliya kept on staring at Cindy, still finding it hard to believe her eyes.

"You're almost as tall as I am now," she remarked, walking backwards so that she could see Cindy more clearly. "I bet you're going to have to wear some of my clothes until we can make some that are your size."

"Probably," Cindy replied looking back at Aliya, feeling a bit distorated from not haivng ot look up at the other girl anymore, "Since all the other clothes were in my previous size."

Thing were going to be tough to explain later. Honeslty she had not thought it would happen since she had sen the moon dozens of times, and nothing had happened.
