Kaisude kept going on a straight circular course, he was on a personal mssion. He wasn't going to fail either so he had to try and succeed. If he didn't know that he was going to end up running then, he probably would be doing worse. Though he knew he just never had to do some kind of training like this, he was sure that training could get worse. If he could some how shorten the laps, and now that he thought about it. Yuumei only gave Akeru laps and not Kai, he just chose to do them with Akeru because it was whats best for the Uchiha. He wasn't even going to start trying to negoiate with the Sannin, she would probably flip out on him.

Kaisude kept running he was in a good spirited mood at moment, for he was closer to the fininsh line then he thought he was and; that was fine with him. He actually made it across faster then he did last time, well then there were seven more laps that he had to do. He trotted on into the fourth lap, which would mean after he completed that one there would be only six laps. Kaisude was yet again proving that he would be able to complete a hard task and this task was one of the hardest, othere then climbing a wall. Which was infact more dangerous then running laps. He knew it was and was happy he had to never do that again.

This was still no good... He wasn't getting anywhere with this lesson at this pathetically slow rate. It was close to evening already...all traces of the sun nearly having disappeared from the rapidly darkening sky. Oto did have night lamps along the main paths leading to the rice fields...but not in them... So he should be getting home soon...or risk getting lost. Akeru grumbled something incoherent under his breath and bit at his lower lip, before violently shaking his head. Just ten more minutes! Just after...this lesson...

Wait. Was he lost already? The single thought burned in his mind, making the Uchiha boy even more worried. He...could barely make out the main paths, with all the crossing shadows...lengthening with each passing minute. But his eyes softened as he caught sight of the sleeping Kiroshiro and of Yuumei watching the sunset with bored eyes. The Sannin casted him one glance - though she did not say anything, it was plainly clear in those crimson eyes that she wanted him to hurry up so they could finish a few more lessons before going home. Just six more laps... I won't keep you waiting too long. His own determined gaze promised.

Halfway through his fifth lap, Akeru realized with a horrified start that his eyes couldn't distinguish the different paths anymore. Damn! Which one...? The Uchiha boy glared intently at one path after another...but he could not make out the differences. Overhead, a few sparrows scattered. Wait. He hadn't been in Oto that long but he had noted a few behavioral patterns of the animals. The sparrows, in the morning they would stay mainly around the village outskirts. Near the afternoon, they move gradually toward their nests near the rice fields' eastern edge. Yuumei had brought him straight along the main path...Akeru chose to detour and run his laps around the western edge. So he'll have to move in the direction opposite which the sparrows were migrating.

Thud. Akeru had tripped and fell on rocky grounds. The skin on his knee was torn and...it certainly stung alright. He had used his right arm to cushion part of the fall as well...which wasn't wise, as now he had abrasion wounds on the side of his arm. Hmph. The boy glared at a large piece of tree branch which was left along the path. He did not see the obstacle, of course, since the dark brown blended quite well with the shadows wrapping around the grounds. Akeru never heard of a Uchiha medic before...but it seems like if he doesn't learn medical ninjutsu...he may be in lots of trouble in the future.

Akeru had managed to finish his fifth lap but was forced to stop near Yuumei and Kiroshiro. The tiger's nose wrinkled, smelling blood, before staring at the boy intently, and then at his mistress. Yuumei just shook her head, making some hand motions to Kiroshiro. Sign language...? Akeru was nearly certain when the tiger bowed his head, which the boy took to mean that he understood. Whatever the two discussed, it has something to do with him...right...?

Meh. There was so much he had yet to learn...to catch up with... Wielding shurikens...kunais...more basic ninjutsu lessons...introduction to genjutsu... For a moment, Akeru regretted not looking over the Academy curriculum in more detail while he had the chance. If he had an idea of what Yuumei was going to teach...perhaps he could force himself up into better shape for these lessons. But he also had the feeling that she won't totally just rely on the Academy curriculum here. Possibly Konoha's too, then...? Akeru wrinkled his nose. It was possible. Yuumei did say she learned medical ninjutsu there.

Hp: 8/10
With a small smile, the Sannin-medic had tossed a scroll to him...that she had pulled casually from his bag. Akeru caught it with one hand before staring at the scroll. Oto Academy curriculum...? He unrolled it and saw that Yuumei had made different marks on his copy. On the very bottom, though marked as the next lesson, the Sannin had written chakra control lessons. Chakra control? Next? Even Konoha...not until the students were Genin level... Akeru gulped slightly.
---
Hp: 10/10
Beside the chakra control lesson, there was another note. That woman! Yuumei had written him another challenge, reading: Hurry up, brat. Uchihas are supposed to be ninjutsu freaks... That was the worst progress I had seen with something as easy as Bunshin no Jutsu. How many times did you fall? Seven? A vein twitched on the boy's temple as he could imagine the Sannin's sarcastic tone. He glared fiercely at the smirking Sannin, upon noticing she had around twenty bunshins around her. Argh! She is laughing at me! Akeru fumed silently.

Heh. Yuumei seemed to be a bit surprised with his response. Akeru had scribbled something in reply on the scroll and threw it back at her, destroying a few of her bunshins along the way. Since it was a bit off from where she actually was, Yuumei actually speared it out of the air, by the long ribbon attached to the scroll's spine. Not giving the Sannin another thought, Akeru began running again. He had only four more laps to go - fairly good progress since he began. He...didn't really mind returning home late. Oto...had been quiet recently at night... Where had the other students gone?

Oh no! Somewhere along the path, Akeru had taken a wrong turn and got himself lost. It was entirely dark by now too...how the hell was he supposed to find his way around...? Wait. Chakra signatures. Akeru may not be strong enough to easily locate people by their signatures...but Yuumei and Kiroshiro both had very strong chakra signatures... Chakra signatures could be used not only for determining a opponent's or ally's location, but also in determining what rank...or level a shinobi would be. And his temporary mentor and her tiger, had strong presences which off-sets the Sannin leveled shinobi from a mere Genin.

Was he not even good enough to at least be able to do that? Akeru closed his eyes, trying bitterly to focus on his surroundings. Nothing. He couldn't feel the chakra flow, no matter how faint. Think. The boy commanded himself. The Hyuugas of his class back at Konoha...their top students could do this quite amazingly well. Insight... Was this based on insight...? Elruda too... She wasn't top of her class and slacked off alot, but she too could do this. What had she so often said? Chakra is insubstantial. You cannot see or feel it physically, but it can be felt with the spirit. A person's presence...their strength and intent.

Feeling? Intent? That's right, until now, he had been trying to locate chakra as if it was something substantial. Akeru...could not do that yet. The Uchiha clan and their ancestors...both clans, their eyes could detonate chakra and offset it with color. But the Uchihas, their gift was dormant and could not be forced out with handseals or constant meditation. The Hyuugas' insight...was to complement their ability. No normal person would've been able to pinpoint such tiny nodes without mistakes. It wasn't calculation...it was insight...they...feel...accuracy? Then if he could just detonate the faintest presence of chakra... Chakra came from two sources of spirit. Physical strength and spiritual stamina.

There! He found it! Akeru was careful to use Yuumei's chakra signature as a starting point to calculate his usual path around, before figuring out how far he had strayed. A sigh of relief escaped the boy as he found the main route once more. Too close for his liking. One little mistake could've... Shaking the thought from his head, the boy completed his lap before heading for the final two. That hag better still be waiting! No. That wasn't it. He won't keep her waiting for much longer. Yuumei...wanted a student she could be proud of, right? He'll show her...not just some stupid kid.

Akeru...could hardly believe it. His last lap! The last one of this punishment... The boy wiped a droplet of sweat away from his forehead and smiled in anticipation. He looked forward to this final lap. Yuumei gave a test of endurance and he was close to passing it. Keep watching... The Sannin wasn't like his Hyuuga companions. She didn't have those eyes, but somehow, he still knew she was watching his progress. Don't you dare call me a ninjutsu freak. Physical strength... I will have it! And with each step, he drew closer to his goal.

The strength of the fighting spirit...really could take one so far. And now, Akeru finally stood before Yuumei, trying to catch his breath, before managing to force out a single word. "Finished!" He grinned cheekily but his eyes told another story. They burned with determination - to face whatever the young Sannin throws at him. Yuumei motioned for Akeru to come closer, pointing at the tree behind her. A single kunai gleamed at the top-most branch. "You want me to get it?" He questioned curiously. This lesson was usually reserved for Genins, after all.

Yuumei only nodded, before handing him another kunai. "I believe you would have heard of chakra climbing? A nod from the Uchiha child answered her and so she continued. "Concentrate chakra to your feet and climb this tree without using your hands or feet. Use this kunai to mark your progress...until you reach that kunai at the top. You may find a running start beneficial." And then she sat down quietly next to the sleeping Kiroshiro, this time around, and watched Akeru as he started on his lesson.
