She burst into a run about the same time he did, as soon as he accepted the challege, with a laugh. Ilahle wasn't sure who won in the end as she tripped when the sand turned to grass - at speed it was harder to keep her feet from sinking in the sand to become entangled after all.
"Who won?" She smiled sheepishly and shook off the sand when she stopped the roll it'd flung her into. How embaressing!

Kado skidded to a clumsy stop, tripping a bit but catching himself on the transition from shifting sand to solid ground, laughing a little bit breathless as he turned, looking at her. "Huh? Oh, I don't know, I think we tied." He grinned, having not paid attention too much. He had gotten absorbed in making sure he didn't face plant, and was more than happy to declare it a compromise for now. He padded closer again and nudged her encouragingly with his nose, prompting her to stand. "I guess we made it though! You okay?"

"I'm fine. Takes more than grass to hurt me." She got to her paws and flicked her tail, sending some sand flying. Sand, sand, everywhere! And there always would be. The warm 'sandbath' and the run had made her over hot...so there was just one thing to suggest.
"Want to go swimming, since we're here? This looks like one of the bigger wterholes." Much bigger than the one she lived by, which wasn't good for swimming - too shallow and it would dirty the drinking water. Unforgiveable in a desert. This place however, was lush, complete with tricksey grass. Surely here would be fine...maybe even deep enough to be cool.
