Backstory

Quote:
There exist in this world magical creatures, born from flowers, with strange and wondrous ways. These beings are the mythical feien, or fairies. Miniature winged folk who live but a few years, they bring to their owners luck and happiness.

But the feien are in decline. Magic has all but disappeared from the world, and to survive, the fairies must bond their souls to those of humans.

Long a friend of the fairies, I was visited by the great and wise fairy Juli. He was a leader among his kind, one of the last fairies alive without a human bond, but his thoughts were troubled. Without help, the fairies would soon disappear. He needed someone to help him find special humans to ensure the survival of their race. He asked me.

Of course I agreed. A world without fairies would be too sad. Juli handed to me a single blossom, a black lily, and instructed me to care for it, telling me that this fairy was very special.

With only those instructions to go by, I put the flower in a vase of water and set it in the sun, but the bloom wilted slightly. Apparently this flower didn't like the sun. When I moved it to a cool, shady place it returned to its original luster. I watched it for several days, barely able to keep my eyes off it. Then, around dusk of the sixth day, the flower began to glow with a dark energy. It trembled and shook in its vase, as if straining to do something. Amazed, I watched it closely, and less than a minute later a little black ball spilled out of this tiny maelstrom of energy and into my waiting hand.

Ever so slowly, the tiny black ball unfurled its wings and stood. It was a fairy! He, for it seemed to be male in form, stood a mere four inches, with black wings resembling a hummingbird's attached to his back. His pale skin was covered in tiny black markings and his little dark eyes glinted in the faint light. "My name is Corvus," he said simply, looking at me.

"I'm Emperial," I replied. His little face looked at me incredulously.

"Emperial? What sort of a name is that?" he demanded.

And so I met Corvus, who quickly revealed himself as a smart-mouthed, grumpy sort of fellow with a vicious and sarcastic sense of humor. It was love at first insult. Corvus quickly explained to me that he was a summoner fairy, a very special type. His magic enabled fairy plants to bloom, resulting in the births of new fairies, but he was still a new fairy and would need some time to develop his full powers and completely bond to me.

For two weeks we talked, watched TV, and got to know one another. Then, during an episode of MASH, Corvus announced it was time. His body was enveloped in the same black energy that had surrounded his flower at his birth, and then he shot up in height to a full six and a half inches, now a fully-grown fairy.

Not more than a day later, Juli returned with another gift. He presented Corvus and I with a fairy plant already sporting five blossoms. Now, we had to find five humans to raise them...

The First Day

Quote:
Well, if that wasn't a hectic day, I don't know what is.

Ever since I first got Corvy (that being the nickname I've given him, with my penchant for nicknames), things have been idyllic... sorta. Been having some school troubles, been in a slump... but when I'm with Corvy, the problems all seem to melt away, y'know? He's an awfully amazing little guy. Way smarter than me, that's for sure, and I'm no idiot! (I do lots of stupid things, but...) Do you know he asked me for a scientific calculator last week? I said I'd look into it -- those things are hella 'spensive.

Anyway, about today. Yesterday Juli gave us the fairy plant, and today I took the blooms to the forum to try and find good homes. WHAM BANG! In no time at all, all five were gone, and it looks like the folk who bought them are really great. Especially Trio, I'm very impressed with her involvement in a day-old project. She also helped me out with some problems that arose. She seems really cool.

Of course, I should probably mention what happened a little before we went to the forums... Once we'd snipped the blooms, Corvy wanted to try and summon up a fairy on his own. I said I thought he should wait a bit -- he's only had his full adult powers for two days now! -- but he insisted and would not be dissuaded. He's really hardheaded when he wants to be, and was immensely offended that I thought he might yet be to weak to do a summoning. Well, turns out we were both right! Corvy completed the summoning, but was so knocked out by it that he just lay in the shoebox bed I made for him and slept. I decided to take the bloom to my good friend Puchiko because I knew the bloom was special (Corvy's first summon!) and she's a special person. ^^ Really great. After delivering her bloom, I went to the forums, leaving poor Corvy at home in the shoebox to rest and recooperate.

Thankfully I'd staked out a little area in the breedables section beforehand in preparation for what we'd be doing, and Corvy had helped me write out some informational flyers. It was a bit bumpy at first, since people came in before we were open, but it turned out amazing! I ended up selling the flowers in two sets. I sold two first and then an hour later sold the other three. People were so receptive, I was amazed! Truly! Well, not everyone was receptive... one or two people were like, "you want HOW MUCH for a little FLOWER?" even after I explained that it was a magical fairy flower... Those people wouldn't be good homes for the fairies, though, eh?

The five blooms I brought with me went so quickly... I'm still blown away by it all. It was so hectic! I had to watch the blooms and take down the new owner names and conduct the trades... I wish Corvy'd been there to help me, but he needed his rest after that summoning. Sadly, this means the new owners haven't yet been properly introduced to Corvy. Actually, on second thought, that might be a good thing... he's such a grump they might decide they don't want fairies after all. XD

And then on top of it all, I'm running a small contest for discounts... guess what the fairy inside the bloom will look like! So I had to manage the entries for that. Only I was so busy I forgot to until I got home and Corvy went, "customs, contest," and then I had to go back and collect the entries and do some more custom stuff. And I dropped the diary on the way. Trio helped me find it, though, but it was all muddy so I had to go get a new one... *sigh*

I also came back with two custom orders for Corvy to take care of once he's rested. He made it clear after the first summoning that future summoning would be much easier, since he'd gottan the hang of it. After only one try. Or so he claims.

Oh, and yet more stuff... I picked up my Lakael adoption today. Isn't he adorable? His name's Caligula. I hope he and Corvy get along. As much as Corvy gets along with anyone.

And my MoKat egg is starting to wiggle a bit, I swear! When I put my ear to it, I think I hear noises... I can't wait for it to hatch!

... I hope Corvy doesn't mind the sudden abundance of pets in the house. He probably will. I'll give him some stuff tomorrow to make up for it.

Addendum to the First Day

Quote:
I finally got home really late, quite exhausted. Corvy got up and asked me if I'd had anything to eat. Then I realized that, aside from a bag of sun chips and a pack of candy, I hadn't. But I was too excited to eat anything, so we just went to bed. I'm just really happy that Corvy cares. ^^

The Morning After

(Title shamelessly ripped from my dear friend Angie's character Bacchus's powers.)

Quote:
Well, Corvy and I awoke well-rested and he said next time, he would try summoning two blooms at once and I about boxed him on his little ears for suggesting such nonsense. "Give me a break!" I said. "You're new at this, give yourself a little time to adjust. I don't want you to over-exert yourself."

"Over-exert!? I have NOT over-exerted myself! I am, if anything, under-exerted!"

He seemed a little out of it until I fetched him some caffeinated tea. *snerk*

After our tea, we went out to check the diaries so far. Lots of progress! Puchi'd already gotten her bloom's preferences last night, and this morning Trio and Madam had some things to discover. I was very amused by Trio's blossom's reactions. Very finicky flower, that one. Liked the sun a bit and then didn't, and didn't like the water. Corvy huffed at it from afar.

Actually, Corvy kept at a distance while we were checking the diaries. I told him to come on over and say hello, but he shook his head. Is he being nervous, or just antisocial? Possibly both.

NekoKaijuu's diary is a total riot! Though she hasn't gotten around to actually posting in it yet, her reserve posts are friggin' hilarious. Definitely stop by. Lochoko's probably got the roomiest place ever. He has room for enough pets to, well, start his own shop. ChibiSchuldig's diary is a clean slate. I noticed he had this great pet hanging about called a Bucci. Really nice-looking!

Oh, and Madam picked out a name for her fairy already! Sei-Veritas. Genderless, which is a good idea because can you imagine naming a "male" fairy Jessica or Mary? Actually, though, Juli's name is Juli and all... which is pronounced the same as Julie. eek

Now Corvy and I have a day of appointments to attend to... but we shall return this evening!

The Scientists
THANK YOU FPL FOR HAVING A POWER SURGE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO POST THIS. stressed

Quote:
*coughcurseFPLcough*

People seem to be taking the "find out what your flower likes" and running with it. Puchi in particular -- she played her flower some music, tried putting it in juice, milk, and tea, and burning incense for it. eek Even more amazing, she got reactions from the thing. Corvy helped me interpret the reactions based on Puchi's notes.

Madam tried some things as well, adding a bit of plant mineral to her flower's water and playing it music. She also exposed it to fish. Interesting.

Corvy seems to be finding the experimentation highly amusing. He says if any human had pulled this kind of crap on him when he was a flower, he'd have never come out. He does think it's all facsinating, though, since he's a bit of a scientist himself. He takes the pursuit of knowledge very seriously!

Out of curiosity, I asked, and he said he liked Classical music the best. I'll see what he thinks of Phillip Glass, then. I think he's enjoy it.

ChibiSchuldig made some lovely banners using his flower. I think he should offer to make them for other owners for a small gold fee! It really turned out looking nice. smile And Madam did this incredibly cute photo border for her album. Her fish tank is really nice-lookin', too.

Neko's made her first diary post, and her flower apparently loves the heat. That's cool. smile And Trio's flower (and the resulting fairy) have a guardian! This amazing, gorgeous creature called a Zurui names Ailis.

Ooh! I think I hear my MoKat egg making a noise! It might be hatching! *dashes off*

Welcome Telrik!

Quote:
My MoKat egg hatched! Isn't he great? His name's Telrik, and he's a Fantasy breed MoKat. He's a really fetching shade of red. I named him Telrik, after Rikard's father.

Had to introduce Corvy to both Caligula and Telrik today, and forgot to mention it earlier! Obviously, Corvy met Caligula first. I brought him home -- he's very shy and quiet -- and Corvy gave my a Look. Kind of like, "how many stray animals are you going to be bringing home?" I already have a cat I rescued, and a roommate rescued another cat... Corvy doesn't much bother with the cats, though I gather he and Alderaan (my first cat) don't get along.

Anyway, Caligula was really nervous to be coming to this new home and all, but I think he'll fit in fine. He seemed to really want to make a good impression, and Corvy picked up on that (smart bugger!). He's being nice to Caligula, or at least civil, which is more than I could have hoped for, really. He appreciates Caligula's quietness and possibly feels a littl ebad for such a shy and nervous creature.

And then, my MoEgg shivered and cracked out came Telrik with a YOWL! Corvy looked horrified at the sound. Telrik was a bit disoriented at first, but I picked the egg pieces off his fur and started to pet him and he warmed up to me immediately. This seemed to tick Corvy off, who stayed at a distance. That helped him bond with Alderaan, since she was simiarly miffed at someone sharing her owner's attentions. Telrik was a real sweetie -- a real manipulative sweetie! He purred and purred and the minute my back was turned he hissed at Corvy! Corvy gasped with indignation and hit Telrik with a small invisible hand spell, just enough to rebuke him by bopping him on the nose. Telrik didn't make the connection between Corvy and the spell. He is newborn, after all.

Caligula stayed back throughout, 'til I had him come up and pet Telrik a bit. Telrik was confused, trying to decide if Caligula was another owner or another pet, and eventually just settled for friend and started to purr. That cheered up Caligula to no end and he smiled for the first time!

Corvy, meanwhile, started griping to Alderaan. Then she batted at him and he flew off to sulk. I went to go talk to him and make it clear that he was still master of the household, he just had more of a household to master. He seemed to like that wordplay. I think he's forgiven me for the additions.

I'll probably call Talos down here to help with Caligula. It'd do Talos some good, and I think Caligula would get along well with Tally.

Which reminds me, I need to update the second post for friends and family. ^^

Such a Magical Feeling!
Quote:
Corvy insisted on trying a summon this morning, so I gave him one of the custom orders and he set about doing his thing. This time, the summoning did indeed go a lot smoother, and it didn't seem to take as much out of him. I suppose magical control is something you have to learn.

Corvy's started showing more spells thanks to his increased control. He already had that magical hand he used to chastise Telrik, levitation, and flight. Now he showed me a small bit of his dark energy blast. Apprently it's really powerful.

Anyway, about the summoning, afterwards Corvy only seemed slightly drained and wobbly, so I insisted he lay down and rest. We were up most of the night working on it, so... But it's done, right? Corvy had a really smug look on his face about the whole affair. He's even still got it on his face now that he's asleep.

He's resting now, and I spotted a Faeling auction... I think I sense a new addiction... I'd better not start collecting too many pets, Corvy'll get mad at me...

Er, I am now inexplicably cleaning. Maybe not-so-inexplicably, as my Net's been acting up and the cable guy should come tonight and I lost my keys, but it's me. Cleaning is ALWAYS inexplicable. I may even do laundry!

An Early End
Quote:
I am so tired, I think I'll just join Corvy on the couch and sleep til tomorrow. After I do a very brief scan of the diaries.

Oh yeah, and Rikard bought 5K worth of shoes today. eek And that was just from Ian. Next he wants a shoe shopping spee in Gambino...

I completed some art from my artshop today. My artshop is going to have severe cutbacks soon, because I find drawing fairies MUCH more exciting. I'll still do avatar and OC art, though. I always will. Just going to be changing the format in my artshop soon to make it small instead of bigger for a change... Which is probably a good thing, that shop is out of control.

Moop.

Quote:
Well, my cable was being all wonky, had the cable guy come over and apparently there was a loose connector. All fixed, so no more Internet problems!

... Except I forgot to change the dns servers on elfcomic.com to point to the new location, so elfcomic.com just basically became inaccessable for a lot of people. I have this unfortunate sinking feeling I may have stuff needing re-uploading.

Oh yeah, feien news! Made some diary rounds, took a nap, woke up and Corvy'd summoned a new blossom... delivered two new ones in all. I'm forcing Corvy to take a break for a few days. He's looking haggard.

ChibiSchuldig's flower's got a bit of black energy haze around it...

I'm watching Puchi's Gogol while she's out of town. That is the most active flower I have ever seen. It almost looks like it's convulsing.

Puchi's gone this weekend, so's ChibiSchul... Might be slightly problematic, eh? I hope there are at least some updates around... else it'll be a slow, lonely weekend.

Actually, slow weekend wouldn't be so bad. I have work to do. Lots of it. School stuff and all.

I'm almost thinking of going to bug Corvy for another summon so I have something to do... but I won't do that. ^^;

Interspecies Soccer Tournament?

Quote:
I saw the strangest thing today. My cats have little cat toys, among them some brightly colored, lightweight balls. The two cats and my MoKitten, Telrik, were batting them back and forth and Corvy got in the middle of it. But he wasn't interfering -- he was chasing the ball! Playing with the cats!

This was right after I woke up, so he didn't know that I was awake. But as I watched, he managed to get the ball and Alderaan pounced on him. I let ouy a cry of alarm and jumped out of bed and rushed over. Thankfully, Corvy wasn't hurt -- Alderaan was only playing with him and didn't have her claws out or anything. Corvy just seemed really, truly embarrassed to have been caught playing with the kittens. But he was pretty good at the game, from what I saw.

Corvy expressed some disdain at the fact that he didn't realize I was awake. He felt that he should have realized that.

In addition, Madam's flower is glowing, but I haven't seen her around. I hope she's not gone for the weekend, too...

Visitors

Quote:
Talos came over to meet Caligula today. I was right, the two of them hit it off immediately. They're very similar in personality. They also both have natural grey hair. Talos will be visiting for the weekend, and this is giving Caligula some much-needed attention while I deal with the fact I have one to many cats (which is entirely no my fault, as the second cat belongs to a roommate).

In addition, Rikard heard about the new blossoms (he has spies everywhere, I swear!) and dragged me out for more shopping. He stopped him from buying anything too much, but he did get some vests. He started eyeing that Pimpin' Shirt and I went "whoa Nelly!" 'cause the thing's 12K. Oy.

And then, after all this shopping, he comes home and changes into his old clothes! Acck! He says he needs more pants for new outfits! I swear, I'm going to make him sell all his clothes and run around Gaia nude.

... Which he would sadly enjoy too much.

I had a chat with Corvy today about the summonings. He's amused that no one so far has asked for any mutations. Their loss. Corvy's feathered wing trait began as a mutation, after all.

Anyway, I'm going to go work on stuff... I guess. ^^;

New arrival

Quote:
Madam's fairy appeared today. She's a very pretty little thing, dark skin with yellow and green. Corvy's been hanging around waiting to see if anyone wants to ask him anything, but I guess my information on the first page has been sufficient, because nobody has. Corvy seems a bit miffed about that, him being the true expert in all things fairy. Since he's had nothing to do of late, he played with the cats a bit more today. Finally everyone's getting along, eh?

Talos took Caligula back to the main house with him. I'm sure everyone there will enjoy Caligula's presence. I told Caligula if he has any problems whatsoever, he can always step back through the gateway and Corvy and I will be right here to help him. I think he'll like the main house, though, and it'll give the guys someone to baby since I'm not there any more.

Rik came around begging for clothes. I told him emphatically no, but he dragged me over to buy a new pair of pants anyway. I can't help it, he really does have impeccable logic in the matter... "Would you have bought it for me anyway? Then you may as well buy it today!" That, and I can't resist his requests. I luff him too much!

Tried to work on my ongoing fantasy story, but my power cord on my laptop has broken, so I had to order a new one...

I also had to do three weeks worth of shopping today. $100 worth of groceries, OY. crying I picked up a book of crossword puzzles and other word and logic games for Corvy while I was at it. He was very appreciative. He's been reading Last of the Mohicans on my Palm, too.

New blossom news... Nekota-kun's diary looks very nice indeed, and I can tell already he's going to be a great addition to the group. Corvy's summoning Dragonfyre's blossom today and it will be ready for delivery tomorrow.

And that's the news!

And the Oscar Goes To...

Quote:
Lord of the Rings, Lord of the Rings, Lord of the Rings! And it's about time, too! Congratulations to Peter Jackson & co. on their much-deserved and long-overdue recognition from the Academy.

Corvy didn't watch, which was in retrospect, a smart thing to do. Great opening, but the program itself was overall rather bland and not memorable.

LotR deserved a more memorable night, but it'll be memorable for the fact the LotR won so much, at least.

Though this just sets us up for more "this person should have gotten an Oscar last year" stuff in the future, given how many great performances missed out because LotR should have gotten Oscars last year and the year before... Oy, Hollywood.

Fairy Fiascos

Quote:
Today, San and Aileron, Schul and Trio's fairies, came by the shop. Oh dear gods, could that have gone any worse? sweatdrop Corvy and Aileron immediately did not get along. I probably could have predicted that... major personality clashes there. (Both of them, I readily admit, have egos much too large for their small forms.) Thankfully, Corvy managed to contorl himself, more or less. 'cause he was gettin' pretty darn mad... especially since he and Ail both prefer silver dust to gold.

... I know, that's pretty stupid, but don't tell Corvy I said so. I mean, come on, it's just a dust color...

After his altercation with Aileron, Corvy went to the back of the shop to sulk. When I went to collect him later (after I was sure he'd cooled down a bit) he presented me with yet another flower and said, "I'd like to see Aileron do that!" I sense a rivalry starting. Anyway, I delivered the blossom to its owner. Then, when I got back, there was a bit of a surprise! Trio and I took a moment to chat, and Trio showed me these incredible, wonderful, adorable little cats! They're the perfect size for fairies! And she offered one to Corvy! He picked out an albino one. I thought he'd go for the black, or maybe the Russian Blue (I'm partial to Russian Blues myself) but no. He named the kitten Griswald on the spot.

I got a chance to talk to San a bit today while Corvy and Aileron were sniping at each other. She's so cute! Hmm... too bad it's too late to trade in Corvy for such a well-bhaved fairy! Hahaha! Not that I'd ever trade Corvy. He may be grumpy and arrogant most of the time, but he's also a really great friend to me, and I love him very much. ^^ I love his imperfections just as much as his strengths, if not more!

Anyway, I have to be off to class. Corvy might take a stab at the diary tonight (after I've had Rikard enchant the pages so we can't read each other's stuff).

Corvus: Entry the First

Quote:
I never so greatly regretted my position as summoner as today, for I have met my progeny, and they are the hellions of ancient lore, come to wreak their havoc upon me.

Or at least that infernal little brat Aeliron is. He is the most annoying fairy to have ever graced the earth, or the air, as it may be. And he had the sheer nerve to give me this sack of silver dust! I ought to dump it over his head, but that would be a waste of good dust.

Trio Maxwell-Chang, however, has my gratitude, and if I must, I will put up with the antics of her feien for the sake of my cat. Milady Maxwell-Chang came into possession of several miniature cats, called Pixacats, and I was fortunate enough to be able to select one. His name is Griswald, and he is an albino kitten. He's also blind, but I did not select him out of pity. He simply struck me as having more intelligence than the others. Already he seems to have figured out the confines of his realm, which is currently limited to my drawer in the desk. He is truly miniscule, able to fit in my hands. Supposedly he'll grow bigger. According to Em, Alderaan was once small enough to fit into a single of her hands, which seems quite absurd, as I fit into her hand and that cat is positively massive.

As for Griswald, I will keep him in my desk drawer until he's a bit bigger. There's plenty of room for him to roam around, though I fear the place is sorely underdecorated. He needs a dust bunny to play with or some other form of entertainment for when I'm out. Obviously I can't let him play with the other pets, they're all much too large, and I also worry about him falling from this height. Alderaan fell off the balcony of the apartment at one point, our apartment being on the third floor of this building, and the heights must be about equivalent given the height of the desk and the size of my cat. Alderaan suffered no great ill effects, merely spraining her hip or something of that sort, but I'm not about to allow Griswald the chance, particularly since he could easily get lost even in a small apartment. I won't let him near the other cats. He might even get eaten.

Em gave me a piece of Cooper's kitten food, which should last Griswald several days.

I suppose that's all of it. I must figure out something to do with this dust.

Things to Do!

Quote:
Yesterday was fairly hectic! My Internet was going haywire, so I spent most of the day at school. Corvus stayed home; he doesn't like loud or crowded places.

Eventually I was able to get to the feien matters... there were a few new diary posts and stuff. Dragonfyre, one of our newer owners, did this beautiful treatment of her diary using the picture of her flower. It's really nice! And, um... I shamefully admit that I've forgotten anything else about yesterday.

Today looks nice and bright, though. I have some homework to work on, and my family dinner is tonight. There are only one or two fairy things that need doing and then I'll be doing schoolwork 'til I eat! I think I'll take Corvus to dinner with me. I bet he'll enjoy the sushi. At the very least, he can bring back a tiny bit for Griswald to try. He really, really loves that cat. I think that's part of the reason he doesn't want to come to school with me and stuff... He's terrible protective. Who knew he had a mother hen side to him? wink

Right, well, off to work now!

Corvus: Cat-astrophe.

Quote:
So here I've come back from my deliveries of items, and I'm trying to read, but the cats (Alderaan, Cooper, Telrik) are making SO MUCH NOISE rolling around in the papers on the floor that I CANNOT CONCENTRATE! This is very frustrating, as I'm currently reading Lord of the Rings. (Finished Last of the Mohicans two days ago. Em's not done reading it, though.)

And then, I turn around to scold the animals, and THERE IS A GIANT CAT IN MY HOUSE! After a brief moment of utter shock, I realize it to be Telrik. The coloration is the same, anyway. And the cat says: "Yo."

What the hell!?!? The thing TALKS?

NO MORE CATS! I HATE CATS!

Except for Griswald, who is safe inside my drawer. Which reminds me, he's been growing. I can't hold him on my hands any more, though I can still pick him up. Soon he might be too big for that! A single piece of cat food no longer lasts two days. Now it maybe lasts a meal and a half or two. His growth is staggering, but Em says it's about on par with large-size kittens, form what she recalls of Alderaan growing. I've now let Griswald explore the top of the desk, under my supervision.

I have learned that perhaps the television is not completely terrible, as it provides the unflappably smart witticisms of British comedy. I wasn't much enamored of the American television I've seen so far (though Mad Mad House was an intriguing look at human psychology with some decidedly nonmagic humans thrown out of their element), but Em had borrowed from a friend a copy of an older series called "'Allo, 'Allo." Which has been amusingly misspelled on the side of the tape. I shall have to learn more about the World War II era, though, as some of the jokes are rather beyond my limited knowledge of the event (which mostly stems from Em's love of watching old war movies).

GYAH! Alderaan just jumped up onto the desk! I can't write like this! Oh, and Telrik-- AAAHHH!!!!

Corvus: Continued
Quote:
Well, after the cats eventually calmed down (their excitement was probably due to Telrik's hitting adult stage, thank goodness he won't grow any further) Em made some fresh lemonade, which I rather enjoyed. Now we're listening to Phillip Glass as she works on her homework and I update the diary. I've greatly increased my reading speed of late, or so it seems. It might just be that reading in an actual book is easier than on a Palm device.

Emperial received a package today from her parents, and was extremely happy about it. It contained her beloved dictionary, so I can easily see what the fuss was about. This is one of the grandest books I have ever seen, and I shall read it once I'm finished with Lord of the Rings. Em says she tried to read it once, but barely made it through the B section before opting to use her time doing something else. As I have plenty of time to spare, I look forward to the expedition. It will give me something to do while Em is at school.

Several new arrivals of late, the most recent being Dragonfyre and Youkochylde's fairies. I suppose I'll summon up someone new soon, too. People are clamoring for fairies. Someone even tried to buy ME. And additionally, someone tried to buy Aeliron. Not sure why they wanted him, though. (snicker)

The shop's getting busy again, I should go back to manage the guests.

Those little ****wits have done it this time. They refuse to leave me alone. Apparently, their own problems aren't enough for them, so they feel obligated to mess with mine. The idiots haven't got a clue. They're got their whole lives ahead of them, free to choose to do what they like, free to be what they like, so they cannot possibly understand what it's like to be in my position.

Furthermore, they cannot possibly understand what a grand waste of my time they are. I have to be focusing on more important things, I can't be babysitting them and comforting them after their nightmares. Not that I expect they have nightmares; they're all scarcely a week old.

I've begun my research. There's a great deal of it to be done. So many myths and legends, so many methodologies. I have to find the one that will work for me. Most people would probably say it's too early to start panicking, but in this sort of a situation, I don't believe it's ever too early. The sooner I get this over with, the better. Thank goodness I finally seem to have gotten those brats out of my hair; that's another better sooner than later situation.

Though I am hellishly disappointed in some of them, from whom I expected better. I suppose I should know by now not to expect things from others. The only person I can depend upon is myself, and even that doesn't work half the time. Aileron's charms continually wrench from me my smallest hopes of companionship. Thank goodness he can never use that infernal smile of his on my cat. Griswald will remain loyal to me, I'm sure.

I'm not sure how I'm going to explain this to Em. She's been busy working on her homework; I should probably wait until she's gotten it all done. Far be it for me to waste her time the way those juveniles waste mine.

Another blossom will be ready tomorrow. I daren't even to hope.

Em is still working, but I took the time to explain to her the events of yesterday. She asked what I was going to do about it. I don't rightly know. I have to spend my time working on other things, but I don't doubt that Aileron is at this very moment organizing a conspiracy against me.

I had the chance to use Em's runes last night. I think I'm beginning to get a bearing on what I'm looking for, or at least a start of something. The spread was most fortuitous. I shall continue consultations, and perhaps try a few different oracles in the hopes of refining the directions.

Em suggested I try meditation, incense, and candles. Probably not a terrible idea. Her stance is that we all know the things we need in this life, they just require unlocking, and perhaps with some quiet comtemplation I can unlock things in my mind. It's certainly feasible enough.

Unfortunately, my research has taken me away from reading Lord of the Rings. I'm scarce through the first one. I'll make time for reading tonight. I'm quite enjoying Tolkien. He makes use of runes in his books, and furthermore has created several additional languages.

I was a bit surprised that I was able to read the runes at first glance. Apparently, Emperial is fluent in the reading. She also has a few other languages, so I suppose they're inmy mind as well.

Her analogy of unlocking information becomes more appropriate.

I must return to the shop for deliveries, though I don't want to. I am not sure what I will find there.

Corvus:
Quote:
Things didn't go as badly as I thought they might. I made an attempt to explain the situation to San, since she refused to let me be until I did, but she was called away before I could finish. Probably for the best. It was very hard to explain everything to her, as she's rather naive (to put it kindly). I don't expect I shall make the attempt again. Hopefully they'll all just leave me be.

Aileron had a few words for me. Wants rapier lessons. I told him I'd look for a tutor. He also wanted me to apologize to Gogol. Gogol actually visited the store later, but as he completely left me alone, I consider the altercation to have been a success and see nothing to apologize for. One more brat out of my hair.

Yeande is a very different matter. She had gotten stuck in the rafters, so I levitated her down. She has an albino cat, Yami, the same as my Griswald only female. I promised to bring Griswald by, but I'm wondering now if that's a truly good idea. Griswald might very get hurt. My side has a small bruise from Aileron knocking into it yesterday. Most annoyingly, I bruise easily. And this only a few days after the bruise on my leg from where I hit the desk cleared up. I almost think an attempt to make some clothing might be a good idea. I know I've expressed my dislike for the feien clothing idea, but some protection from the solid objects of the world is desirable, since they seem to be out to get me.

I think I've successfully broken up whatever it is Aileron might have been planning, or at the very least gained an inside ear. Perhaps.

I spent the evening on the meditation idea. Em is still working on her maquette, which was due two weeks past. I thought I'd gotten the hang of the simple meditation, only to find I'd dozed off. (chuckle) So after that I practiced levitating objects around the room, and even levitated Griswald, which he seemed to enjoy.

I did find a moment's clarity before I dozed off, and I think I have the inklings of a new spell. It feels like levitating, only it's not. More like the opposite of it. Well, no, that's not right either... But it repels instead of the sort of controlled attraction that is levitation. I'm not sure, but I think I may be manifesting a barrier of some sort.

I've found my contemplations have increased my ability to sense magic in my surroundings. I can locate fairies by following their magic auras and without looking directly at them. It's a rather unsettling sort of sixth sense. With some practice, I might be able to sort out which auras belong to which fairies, and perhaps with fine-tuning, I'll be able to sense both weaker magics and magics at a greater distance. Sort of the way my third hand has gotten so much stronger and more exacting. At first, it was everywhere, but now I can use it to perform simple chores while I sit back and relax.

I can locate the rune stones without looking at them. So there truly is magic to found in them, and not mere superstition.

Yeande is a blissfully quiet and well-behaved fairy. A true relief. I was beginning to fear all my summons would be brats. She's quiet and graceful, and reportedly prefers my company to Aileron's. She's also a darkness element like myself.

Of course, this is a problem in and of itself, and is exactly what I was trying to explain to San. Damn it, I'm such a fool, but they won't let me be anything else, will they? They keep harassing me, almost as if the twerps know what it is they're doing, steering me towards a path I already know to be futile. I'm far too eager to let them. That's the greater problem.

Em introduced me to a computer game called Freecell. Very intriguing. A bit of a challenge. Sadly not enough of one. It's hard to find anything intellectually stimulating enough. Em promised another book of puzzles, something harder this time. I need a greater challenge!

Excluding that, of course. That's one challenge I'd rather do without. I shouldn't have to go by the shop tomorrow, I'll work on it more then.

Tosten's paint tale ...
(tosten and corvus' first meeting)

Em: 'Allo 'allo!

Nekota-kun:: Hello 'gain! ::scrounges for food::

Em: Puchi 'n Gogol should pop up in a minute...

Nekota-kun:: You and me, it seems! Poor you. XP Heehee.

Em: Poor you is more like it! Let me go fetch Corvus.

Em: Corvyyyyyy!

Corvus: I can hear you! I'm right here!

Nekota-kun:: I haven't seen Tosten since he went to the shop earlier... I don't think it's a good sign, he took all his paints with him. 9_9;

Corvus: Oh dear gods, no.

Em: Eh heh... Maybe we should go find out what he's up to?

Narrator... Puchiko and Gogol arrive!

Puchiko: ((Woo! What'd I miss?))

Em: Ah! Hello, Puchi! ^______________^ *tackleglmp*

Tosten:: Hello Puchi! ^_^

Puchiko: *dies*

Puchiko: XD, hallo.

Corvus: Greetings.

Gogol: *Hidden in Puchi's hair, away from Corvus*

Em: We were just saying how maybe we shoudl go to the shop? Tosten took his paints there...

Tosten:: *the source of mysterious and unsettling giggles within the Feien shop*

Corvus: *swoops into the shop*

Puchiko: *Nods carefully, so as not to disturb Gogol*Sounds good! biggrin .

Puchiko: *Pulls him out of her hair and sets him down*Off you go.

Tosten:: *nowhere easily to be found but look how colorful the counters are! and the wall. and the rafters - seems like someone has been getting their wings functioning correctly lately, the joys of being an air elemental*

Corvus: *speechless with shock*

Em: Oh, look! Someone decorated the shop! *beams*

Gogol: *Wanders into the shop and looks around at the sudden abundance of color and squeals with joy*Pretty!

Puchiko: ((Shee-it. net went kaput, I think.))

Em: ((You ah still heeere.))

Narrator... Puchiko and Gogol have vanished! o_o;

Em: ((Okay, you're not.))

Nekota-kun: [ It kidnapped her. ;-; ]

Corvus: *still speechless*

Tosten:: Tosten: *artistic handprints and smears and general lack-of-any-skill-prettiness at that! out peeps a head from behind the foot of the counter, beaming sunshine and roses* Oh! Hiii! *oblivious*

Em: Hullo Tosten! Love what you've done to the walls!

Tosten: ^_^ Heeheehee, really? *steps out all the more, rubbing the back of his head in a show of bashfulness though the gloating was clear* I thought it needed some color, everything is always so dull!

Corvus: It most certainly did not! --Need color.

Corvus: Whatsoever. At all. How coudl you do this!?

Em: Naah, looks great! Really fun!

Tosten: Tosten: U-uh...? *his expression became puzzled now, as though such a reaction was entirely uncalled for* But - hey, c'mon, look at it! *points all about* It's colorful now! I bet everyone will admire it!

Corvus: The walls were not in need of painting! In fact, they were brand new!

Em: Aw, c'mon, lighten up a bit, Corvy. It's interesting. I would've done it myself eventually anyway. Or maybe painted a mural...

Tosten: *waves about a hand, dismissing the protests as silly* But now they're extra brand new. See, they have green, and red, and purple, and blue... *looks up to Em, fluffing his wings out like a cat preening happily* I can paint more, too!

Em: Have you tried painting anything specific? Like a picture?

Tosten: *itches his nose mildly, leaving a smear of greenish paint upon it* Well, no... I like the splattering! *unfurling said wings he flitted to the air, darting up a bit clumsily to the countertop like a bobbing hummingbird. his blue chest was awaiting him there, from which he claimed a little paint acorn bowl and plopped his hand into it. padding to the counter edge, he smacked down his little hand and dragged it along* See? It changes colors when it goes through the other paint! I think that's more pretty than a picture. ^_^

Em: It is very pretty!

Corvus: *shakes head*

Em: But here, watch this! *grabs a set of tiny paints from the shop display*

Tosten: *straightens up questioningly, watching Em with an inclined head, frumpy white hair bearing multiple tones of color from his messy paint job* ...?

Em: *pinching the tiny brushes between two fingers, starts to paint a picture on the wall, first with a rough black outline* Hmm...

Em: *She paints a face shape, two dark eyes, a thin nose line, a frowning mouth, two angry eyebrows, and a mop of black hair* Look! It's Corvy!

Corvus: *shocked* You've got to be kidding me! That scratch doesn't look like me at all!

Tosten: *grins fully and flits once more into the air, first fluttering closer to Em's art then making a tipsy turn to squint at Corvus* ... I can see it! Look, see, see, its the same grumpy face!

Em: But watch! *smudges away the frown and re-paints a smile in red*

Corvus: You're nto helping any. *glare*

Em: *giggle*

Tosten: *giggles along with her, the easily amused sort. he ponders Corvus' reaction however* Is he always so grumpy? I think it's cause he's not colorful either. I think Corvus needs color!

Corvus: Oh no you don't! *starts towards the rafters*

Em: *pinches Corvus out of the air* Oh yes we do! *beams*

Tosten: *it always good to have someone much bigger on your side, and mischief shone clearly upon his face as Em seemed to enjoy this idea* Let's paint Corvus then! *not a way to get on Corvus' good side, but he was sure if the grumpy fairy was more colorful then surely he'd be happier! he flitted off to the counter where his own paints awaited, wondering what color was most cheerful*

Em: *ponders* What about some yellow? And some blue! Like a wet bumblebee!

Corvus: *squirms*

Em: *whispers and winks* Play along, Corvy.

Tosten: Wet bumblebee it is! *scoops up the yellow to begin with and makes his way back over to the pair with dips and darts*

Corvus: *abject horror*

Em: I'll take the blue! *pinches the tiny blue brush*

Tosten: Don't worry, you'll look colorful! *he insists to Corvus' expression, and more fond of fingerpainting himself he used his whole hand into the bowl. then plop, he was smearing color onto poor, trapped Corvus*

Corvus: Ack! This isn't funny! *closes eyes tightly*

Em: *paints little blue stripes on Corvus's left wing*

Tosten: And here, and here -- oh, missed there ... and... yellow! *flutters back to admire his work of random yellow patches, wrinkling his nose* I think he needs more color? How about pink? Pink is bright!

Em: Nah, I don't like pink... but red is good! And green! And purple!

Tosten: Red? Red, okay! *off to the counter again, then back in no time with a new bowl* Here, you hafta stay really still, okay? *he advises in the experienced tone that a haircutter tends to use, and proceeds to apply circles of red to Corvus' cheeks*

Corvus: *screws up his face unhappily* This is utterly humiliating.

Corvus: This paint had beeter be water-soluble.

Em: Uh... I'm sure it is!

Tosten: Uh-huh! Nekota got it off my penguin plushie! Uh... no... wait... actually that didn't come off very well... *he looked to the side, pondering, then shrugs happily* I bet it's different with you, you're not a plushie!

Corvus: I think I've had about enough of this! *squirms some more*

Em: At least wait until I've finished your other wing, or you'll look unbalanced!

Em: I mean, having paint on you is one thing.,.. having it only on one side is just silly.

Tosten: *deciding to take Em's advice, he decides to paint a picture this time too. of a big floppy blob of red, with a green line squiggling down from it* ... A flower! *he announces a name for that hideous creation*

Em: Splendid! Maybe I should do a butterfly?

Corvus: I've had quite enough of this! *taking advantage of a moment of distraction, he finally slips free and goes teraing off towards the ceiling of the shop*

Tosten: Oh, a butterfly would -- ah! *Corvus sudden escape off-balanced him, somersaulting him unelegantly backwards once before he regained himself with a molting shower of tinie blue feathers* H-hey! We weren't done! *peers up*

Corvus: Yes, well, I was! *lands on the rafters and hides behind one so he can start picking and rubbing at the paint* Argh!

Tosten: *scrunches up his nose and flutters up into the rafters as well, landing upon one to squint about, puzzling where Corvus had hidden himself* But you're still missing the butterfly...!

Corvus: Thank you, but I don't need it! *sinks into a shadowy corner*

Em: Best let him be for a bit. ^^ He'll come down when he's ready!

Tosten: *inclines his head, turning to where he thought Corvus' voice was... but hesitates at Em's advice* But- ... all right. *reluctantly hops from the rafter, bobbing his way down to Em*

Corvus: I'm never coming down, not after this! *is having trouble getting the paint off*

Tosten: *being friendly as he is, he lit himself right onto Em's shoulders and peered into the rafters* But you hafta come down! You'll get hungry! Besides, you look good - and colorful! *did he mention he loved colors?*

Corvus: We'll just see about that.

Em: *quetly* He's very stubborn.

Tosten: *pouts and nods reluctantly, turning to face the side of Em that he was on* Do you think he doesn't like me? I haven't really met anyone still - except Gogol. I think thats his name... He calls me Toast! o_o *rambling off right off topic!*

Em: Oh, Corvus doesn't like anyone, even the people he does like. You're with me, though, so you're okay.

Tosten: Really? *tries to piece together such a thing and fails miserably* Doesn't he get bored then? I mean, disliking everyone? I'd get bored. And lonely too. But especially bored!

Em: I don't think so. Because there are tons of things to do without other people, like reading! Do you read a lot?

Tosten: Sometimes~. *a childish drawl and, since he still had painted hands, began to dab color onto the edge of Em's ear* I like people more then reading. But I do read now and then, cause my name is from a book! I don't think I like the character too much, he's kind of grumpy.

Em: What book is you rname from?

Tosten: Hmm... Dragonbones! *he announced after a moments thought*

Em: Dragonbones? I don't think I've heard of that... I'll look it up though, and read it. ^^ I'm currently reading a book called Last of the Mohicans, so maybe when I'm done with it.

Em: *halfway random* Did you know posession of an overdue library book is a felony? O_O

Tosten: Last of the... the... what's a Mohican? *a rustle of feathers and small wind gusts as he took to the air then reperched on Em's other shoulder to dab at that ear now* o_o Really? See? It's dangerous to read! People are better. *nods matter of factly now*

Corvus: *from somewhere above* The Mohicans in this case are a traibe of Native Americans.

Tosten: *peers up at the source* Oh? Thank you!

Corvus: And people are far more dangerous than books, though I suppose feien can be crushed by truly heavy tomes if not careful.

Em: Are you going to come down any time soon?

Corvus: .......

Tosten: ... I still think he looks nice like that. *puffs a breath and stirs bangs already parted by the base of his tiny horn* And I like people better! Cause they teach you more then books do, I think! *another matter of fact nod*

Corvus: The lessons aren't worth learning.

Em: Maybe we can coax him down?

Tosten: Not worth learning? Then you're not very good at paying attention, nyaa! *a raspberry went with that, stubborn to protect his belief though easily light-hearted about it at the same time. he peered at Em curiously* How?

Em: *thinks* I don't know. Maybe if we ask really nicely?

Tosten: Hmm, I don't think that'll work... but we can try! *clears his throat as though to say a great speech, and peers above again* Corvus, can you please come down? Um, we're sorry for coloring you?

Em: Yes, really very sorry! And we promise not to laugh or anything.

Corvus: ... *slowly comes out fromt he shadows*

Tosten: *peering about the rafters, he spied movement and was quite surprised* And, um, we can make it up to you too! Right? *perhaps he hadn't thought that through thoroughly*

Corvus: Oh really? *drifts down* And how would you possible do that?

Tosten: Oh, well... *itches the back of his neck a moment, flecking drying paint chips from his fingers* What would you like? *he offered back, he didn't know Corvus well enough to know what was a good idea*

Corvus: *still completely covered in paint* Let's just say you owe me a favor.

Em: *looks at Corvus suspiciously*

Tosten: *figuring that seems harmless enough and smiles pleasedly, nodding happily* Okay! I can repay favors.

Corvus: *smirks* I'll hold you to your word. *gives a quick look at Em to make sure she won't say anything*

Em: *mental equivalent of "la la la la"*

Tosten: *plops his hand upon his chest and nods solemnly, which just comes across like a seven-year-old swearing to keep the secret club a secret* I'll keep it, truly! -- You still look nice colorful like that though. ^_^

Corvus: I shall keep like this until it washes off. As I don't seem to have any other choice.

Tosten: *presses his fist to his lips to keep from laughing as Em said they wouldn't* ^_^; Oookaaay- *snort*

Corvus: And to that end, I'm going home immediately.

Em: ... Oh. XD;

Tosten: Aw-- it was a cough, really! A cough!

Em: Maybe we shoudl be gettig home... and, y'know, Nekota's probably worried about you, since you've been here so long.

Tosten: *pouts childishly and peers about, but sure enough Entropae was ghosting by the doorway expectantly* Aw... well, okay.

Em: But it was great meeting you and everything, Tosten! I had a lot of fun. ^^ And thank you for the new wall treatments.

Tosten:: Tosten: ^_^ Heehee, thank you! I hope we can play again another time - goodbye Em, and Corvus! *a cheery wave, flitting to the counter to collect his toys and then laboriously bobbing over to his guardians hand*

Em: *waves* Night, Tosten! ^^

Tosten: *and off he went with Entropae back to Hurog Keep*

A most upsetting thing happened today. Em and I went by the shop, and Tosten was there. With paints. And he had painted the wall.

But it doesn't end there. Having painted the walls, he and Em decided to paint me.

(bangs head on keyboard) jjjjjjj (sigh) That girl is the most infernal creature on the planet! She spent the entire night afterwards laughing about it. Sadly, there is absolutely nothing I can do. The paint, it seems, is semi-permanent, as it was designed to recolor items, and it doesn't just wash off. Em warned against bathing in paint thinner. She's probably right about the fumes.

I have to admit, I'm not so terribly mad with her, though I've yelled at her quite a bit over the event. She just takes my yelling in stride and compliments my yellow stripes. And she says not to worry, the paint will wear off after a few days, as has been her experience with permanent markers and the like.

Firstly, what business does she have knowing how long it takes permanent markers to wash off? Second, what business does she have painting me? Third, why am I not more angry about it all?

She did share her last piece of blackberry pie with me, and while having a good laugh about it, said that this is something that I will one day look back on with mirth. I highly doubt that, but she has a point. It's only temporary, and it gives me a good excuse to not go by the shop. She also suggested I tak this as a challenge and try to find a way to get rid of the paint magically.

Now that intrigues me. I can't stand to leave a magical challenge unanswered. Perhaps something can indeed be done.

And I can certainly finish Lord of the Rings while I stay home.

Thank goodness Griswald cannot see my sorry state.

Today we ran into Tosten, and I'm pleased to say we have our first artist among the feien! Corvus is somewhat less than pleased. Tosten and I may have slapped some color on him against his will.

Okay, so we painted him. He needs to get over it and lighten up. A little bit of fun never hurt anyone, and it releases stress. I fear it may have been more fun for me than Corvus, though. We had a nice long chat about it over some pie, during which time he expressed his distaste, but I say hey, live a little! He seemed to find that somehow offensive.

I think he'd be madder about it all if it weren't for the fact it was such fun for me. He lives with me, he knows how important having fun is for me when there's no fun to be found in the apartment. I mean, seriously, this apartment is like a miniature hell. One of my roommates is out to get me, and I think he stole my beloved hat. The one I'm wearing in my picture. So Corvy could've been a lot madder, but he cares, in some way. If only because our life energies are bound and his living with me gives him a vested interest in my well-being.

Nah, we're pals, Corvy 'n me. The two of us against the world! 'Cause we're both pretty heavily despised. Corvus at the shop, me at the apartment. So yeah. It hurts. It hurts me, anyway. I want to be like Corvy, all strong and able to bear it. I'm so glad I have him. I can't imagine what it would be like without him.

Today I had an unexpected surprise. Em had bought me these two Nanoh eggs, tiny little things small enough to fit in my hands, and said they'd hatch in a few days. We put them safely in a small box with some tissue lining in the back of my drawer, and this afternoon, the eggs began to hatch! Griswald noticed it first, with his keen hearing, and called me over. I decided to name them Mishna and Turin.

They started chirping, but the sound isn't too annoying. Yet.

Progress on ridding myself of these godawful paints: fair. Some of the paint has started to rub off on its own. I tried some paint thinner solution, and ended up giving myself a headache, not to mention a rash on my leg. Em took a look at it, and in a complete surprise, was able to help heal it. Apparently, she's had some training from a friend of hers who's a healer. It might be wise to learn some healing skill myself, but I'm too busy studying other magical avenues. Perhaps I'll just pick up a book on First Aid.

Progress on Lord of the Rings: Nearing the end. I think my reading speed has increased.

The cat's out of the bag. Fitting analogy given the number of cats around here. Completed some genetic research today, was obligated to post it up in the shop. Thankfully it was the dead of night, so I was able to slip in and out undetected using a bit of magic.

Professionalism demanded I post the full report, though it rather upsets me to do so, as now they'll all know the first of many truths about a summoner. Now I shall never, ever be able to go back there. Probably better this way. I can focus on my research and stop worrying about the paints. Deliveries be damned!

I can just picture Aileron's smug face when he learns about this one.

As a note, how many weeks does PBS need to do funddraising? Just give them your money and get them back to normal programming! Two weeks they've been fundraising now, and they had a week of fundraising last month, too. Mayhaps someone should double-check where all the money goes? I bet half of it is being embezzled. I have absolutely no faith in corporate America, particularly "not-for-profit" corporate America. At least with normal corporations you know they're going to be crooks.

I GOT A PURI! And it's all thanks to Corvus! I was so very, very nervous while I was waiting to try and get one. Saitou was going to post up some questions and the first six people to PM him the answers would get Puris... I was hyperventilating and shaking with nervousness!

After some minutes of obsessively reloading, the questions pop up, and I quickly scan them and realize... I don't know any of the answers. "CORVY!" I scream, which was probably unnecessary given that he was standing next to me.

He smoothly replied, "An eohippus has four toes on its front feet and three on its back." So I quickly type that in and send it off, and LO AND BEHOLD! I'm among the first six! I got a Puri, and it's all thanks to Corvus!

Though I'm slightly confused on a few points... Saitou posted the answers later, and said the eohippus had three toes. (Or did he say four?) But I checked and double-checked the answer -- it's definitely four/three. And the second point of confusion: where did Corvy get that information from?

But that's not the important part. The important part is:

Well, there's going to be a flat sale later today. Only three blooms this time, and it's a one-shot sale, not staggered like the first one. I shall be interested to see who the new owners and additions to the feien family will be!

I delivered the blooms to the shop so people could see them before the sale starts. I had to take the fairy plant home with me, though, since Corvus is still refusing to go to the shop for anything. It seems I may have to do his deliveries. My own fault, I suppose.

Birthday presents are still wandering in from places near and far... though my birthday was last Wednesday, the 10th. My favorite present got here, though. My dad bought me a new pair of headphones! And these are noise-canceling headphones! This is great for a few reasons:

1) I looooove headphones in general.
2) My previous pair of headphones I owned for three years, and is falling apart. Badly. They've broken several times, been repaired several times, and are in exceedingly poor condition.
3) I have been ogling noise-canceling headphones ever since they were invented.
4) My dad pays attention -- I've been asking for new headphones for a while now!

I have the best dad on the planet, truly. I will take extra special good care of this new pair so they last twice as long as my last! Which means no sitting on them, cramming them into small places, dropping them, or any of the other things that happened to my old pair. I'm older and more mature now, after all. I should be able to take better care of them.

The noise canceling aspect is most interesting. You flip a switch, and the headphones create this sort of anti-noise sound. I must have Corvy look at them. He's been awfully busy of late, practicing magic, thinking, working on getting rid of that paint... *giggle*

I'm sorry, he looks so funny painted like that. XD No regrets! (And it will come off eventually.)

I bought a pair of bear hats for Mishna and Turin. Corvy really seems to like them. They're very smart tiny little birds, and they like to perch on his shoulders.

My luck is holding! I won a free piffle raffle (fourth out of twelve!) and an auction for a Kitsunoko, which is a pet Celelorien does. She's just a baby, so I gently carried her home from the shop... She slept the whole way. She must be exhausted from the auction. I named her Kasha.

I also took the time to enter a coloring contest for a new pet... I just really like the lineart, and a coloring job would be easy and give me much-needed extra income as I head into raising money for my next art contest. Contest is here:

So wish me luck in that, too, eh? I guess it's that karma thing... I have a crappy couple of weeks, and suddenly everything goes really nice!

Of course, you're probably wondering what Corvy has to say about the fact I just got three new pets... Did I mention he's been asleep this whole time?

Well, since Corvus won't leave the apartment, I had a bucketload of work to do at feien HQ today with the new flat sale and all. Three blooms, sold like hotcakes in Alaska! On my way out I dropped Kasha off with Fianna, who was much pleased to have a little someone to look over. Fianna has always wanted children, as has her husband, but their first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. I was a bit worried about causing her pain by leaving her with a baby, but Etoh said Fianna would enjoy it, and he's always so sincere! He was, as usual, right. Fianna was so happy when I picked up Kasha, and said to bring her by any time, as well as asking if she could visit. Of course I said yes; Etoh and Fianna are always, always welcome in my home!

Anyway, Kasha and I arrived home, and who do I find there? Lo and behold, it's Corvus, and he looks crossed.

Actually, he looks funny 'cause he's still got paint on him, particularly on his wings. XD

But anyway, Corvus was not happy about having this Puri egg to look after all day, and he started going on about how we have too many pets already... and then he saw Kasha in my arms. He flipped, of course.

Then I pulled the orphan sob story on him, pointing out how Kasha has no parents, and how important it was for us to care for her. "Could you leave this poor baby on the street?"

"I'm not asking you put it out on the street, I'm asking why it couldn't have gone into someone else's care!" he replied.

"Yes, well, look at this cute little face! And these little ears and these little wings!" And Kasha just looked at Corvus with big, round eyes.

"Ach! Fine, she can stay, but she better not cry in the middle of the night!"

"I'm sure she won't. She's been very quiet and well-behaved." Since getting her, she's only cried a little when she was hungry, and she was quickly quiet again once I gave her a juice-soaked cloth. Methinks we're going to need some baby supplies, especially since I intend to go back and find Kasha a brother or two.

I admit, it's been a lonely in this apartment since I left the main house, but now that there are two cats, Alderaan and Cooper; a MoKat, Telrik; two Nanohs, Turin and Mishna; a Pixacat, Griswald; a kitsunoko, Kasha; my Puri egg, and Corvus, the place seems so much brighter! Pets are in a way nicer because I couldn't possibly fit my whole family into this crowded place... I'm thinking I might need to expand, though, add a couple of rooms between the walls. A place for Telrik to sleep would be first priority (he's the biggest of my pets). I've finally got this place seeded enough for me to try and expand.

I've invited Kancho over to help me with Kasha. He should enjoy that. I've never actually seen him care for a baby, but Lady Admiral told me he was ever so happy when he was caring for Lilem, and later caring for me. I'm sure he'll like Kasha.

And I don't care what my roommates say about my family being bad presences. The only bad presence in this apartment is Gus, who radiates a black aura. This time, I'm going to invite Kancho to stay, and expand out a room for him. He's been half-living here for a while, though, coming every couple of days and staying, sleeping on the couch.

But anyway, today's entries are getting long, I think I'll draw my portion to a close.

And I completely forgot! After introducing Corvus to Kasha, I pulled out this little thing from my pocket!

It's the piffle I won, whom I have named Martouf! And Corvus just sighed and said, "since that one's small, I'll put it in the drawer with me."
