Katrina laughed outright this time, tapping the blade in something that might have passed as a minor apology. "My sincerest apologies," she said ironically, eyes smiling in betrayal of her serious tone. "Seventeenth, actually," she said absently, looking at the girl, who was the eldest, and then at Mikael. "Sister," she mimicked, and nodded. Then she glanced to Harper. "And that's yours..." she glanced at Eliot. "Looks like the child has more backbone than ye, sir."
Melchy looked at Riley, didn’t understand what she was saying, and shrugged. When Harper pointed and made his suggestion, he laughed and nodded vigorously. “Sounds fun!” he said brightly. His ‘family’ didn’t do much in the way of instruments. They had a piper, but that was all. “Let’s go!” he said, running over to Harper and tugging on his arm. “Cap’n call me soon.” He pointed at Katrina and nodded sagely.

Mikael snorted, obviously not caring whether what Eliot said was true or not. He was watching Katrina boredly, obviously not finding her very interesting. Runeh probably would have enjoyed this conversation more then he. "The child has more backbone? I'd say a jellyfish has more," he jeered, obviously still finding Eliot's fear of the blade funny.
"Band?" Riley echoed, looking rather critical of the idea. But the epression quickly passed and was replaced by her normal foxy grin. "Sure!" Bands were pretty cool. She had seen some of the ones Mikael and Runeh liked to listen to, most of it being pretty hard core stuff. She didn't know if this was going to be like that but...she was always up for a challenge!

Harper nodded at Melchy and then grinned at Riley, "We hurry then, b'fore his mommy catch him." He took off for the stairs to the apartment, which had a wide open door and already had the beat of some drumming bellowing out of it. On his way, Harper belted out screaming, "MYYYYYY TURNNNN!!!"
Eliot snorted again, rolling his eyes. "If having a backbone means I'd be willing to die by sword just cause some samurai chick was looking at me funny, I'm glad to not have one. Your the idiots who are going ar- Hey now, whe.. STAY AWAY FROM MY BASS YOU LITTLE BRAT!" At that, he took off running after the children, only to promptly trip and fall flat on his face the second his floppy sandals hit the grass. He seemed to have some passion for the subject however, because without so much as turning pink and brushing himself off he was clammoring to get up and go after his kid again.

Karina laughed slightly at Mikael's insult, adding a few more respect points to his already decently-sized pool. She glanced at Eliot, shaking her head at the mention of Samurai (was he joking?) and looking up when he yelled. Melchizedek was hot on Harper's heels, and wherever they were going, Melchy didn't look like he was going to come back without a fight. Katrina groaned. "Hawkiss..."
"On it, Cap'n!" her first mate said, saluting and passing Eliot as he tailed the children. Melchy had dashed off after Harper when he started running, grinning over his shoulder at Riley. He was already pretty far ahead, and Hawkiss seemed reluctant to catch up. Some of his cuts were still bleeding...
"Where we going?" Melchy asked, halfway panting.

"Well I suppose you would let her kill you," Mikael agreed with a laugh. What a joke that guy was. As the kids ran off he stayed where he was, apparently uninterested in what they were doing. Hey, it got the squirt out of his hair, right? She could cause that other guy some chaos for a change. Bambi might not be here to have fun with, but he could always find something else to do.
Riley raced after the other two, catching up rather easily. She was very quick on her feet, after all! She ran along side the other two, looking curious about their destination as well. She also asked, "What the heck is a bass?"

"Baseline guitar, goes BOOM BOOM BRRUUNG." Harper responded efficiently, inbetween gasps for breath. Finally, they got to the stairs and Harper looked up at the stairs as though it were the dead sea. "You pick me up?" He asked of Riley, pointing up the stairs and at the apartment with the open door and now very LOUD drum playing. The drummer seemed rather talented, too! Go Soloman.
Eliot stared as Hawkiss passed him only briefly. He was quickly chasing down Harper glaring at the small white-yellow head bitterly. He KNEW it wasn't a smart idea to tell the brat he could play when he had a band, but that seemed like the only explanation the child was going to listen to. No way was he getting his destructive fingers on his gorgeous instrument, NO FREAKING WAY.

Melchy giggled excitedly at Harper's explanation of the bass. "Make sounds?!" he demanded, chartreuse eyes lighting up in a wicked smile. For a moment, he looked back over his shoulder, and his expression darkened. "Go fast!" he urged, because Hawkiss was catching up with him.
The first mate, in fact, was about an arm's length away. He stopped, watching Harper pause to request Riley pick him up, and then glared at the cat-child. "All right, bilgerat. Ye've had yer fun. C'mon now." He reached out to pick up Melchy, who hissed like a cat, ears going flat and the fur on his tail and ears poofing out. If he didn't look so angry it would have looked funny.
Katrina watched this, and then shrugged, turning to Mikael. "So, you've some experince with weapons, I gather," she said casually.

"Ahh, you gotta be kidd'n!" Riley scoffed exastperated at the task at hand. But without hesitation she hoisted up the toddler, her hold on him awkward and probably comfortable for neither of them. But she wasn't one to know how to properly hold a kid anyway. She began to hop and scuffle up the stairs as fast as she good calling over her shoulder, "Come on Melchy! Hurry!"
Mikael nodded, as if the topic was rather boring, "Yeah. We don't use blades much in the Defense Corps, but we do know how to use 'em. We usually stick to more modern weaponry, though." If his twin had been there with him it would have been obvious that they were both very experienced when it came to such things. After all, Runeh was covered with scars to represent his little mishaps, many on his face.

Harper didn't care how awkward it was, because now he could casually watch behind them at Eliot and Hawkiss. He began giggling uncontrollably, the adults clammoring around (even if the clammoring was more on Eliot's part) was rather priceless. "Hurry!!" he urged Riley and Melchy, patting Riley's arm to try and enthuse her.
Eliot shook his head desperately at Riley but by that time they were already moving up the stairs, "BRING MY BRAT BACK YOU LITTLE BRAT!" He yelled at Riley, sounding quite furious which was somewhat uncommon for his usual jovial demenour. The commotion had roused another man from the inside of the apartment the group of kids seemed to be heading to; a red headed man, that despite having a rather masculine body was dressed incredibly feminine.
"Elio.. what are you doing to the poor kids?!" The man (Sunny!) demanded, holding his arms out to Riley to take Harper while looking like he was about to play the role of advocate for the kids.

Melchy watched Riley hoist Harper up and start climbing, and he found it suddenly easier to keep up with the girl. The added weight allowed him to close the distance, and he stayed out of the reluctant grip of Hawkiss. He skidded to a halt with a squawk when the newest man showed up and admonished one of his pursuers. Scrambling up behind Riley and Harper, he dashed over and skidded behind Sunny’s leg. He blinked at Hawkiss from behind his new protector.
Hawkiss dashed up the stairs right behind his charge, pulling up short as the redheaded man—woman? Man, he decided—intercepted his charge. “Ah,” he said, putting his head to one side. “If ye’d care to return my charge—‘e’s the one with the black hair, that’d be ducky, sir.”
Katrina nodded pleasantly to Mikael. “Good to see someone on land who knows what a blade this size is for. Good to see that not everyone’s like that’n.” She jerked her head toward Eliot, smiling a bit,

"You come and get us you loser butt!" Riley yelled at Eliot upon reaching the top of the stairs, sticking her tongue out at him. One thing you could always count on Riley for-never being afraid of adults, no matter how angry. She scooted around Sunny without any thoughts of handing Harper over. Instead she set him right by the apartment door and then whipped around. She then reached out to drag Melchy to join the other toddler and to get him well out of the reach of Hawkiss.
"God, if everyone was like that this would be a boring place to live," Not to mention he wouldn't have a job. Not that it was something he really cared about. Before their mother had died he had been very happy living as a con man with Runeh, thank you very much.

Eliot's jaw dropped at the little girl's reply. "EXCUSE ME LITTLE MISS ABOUT TO DIE A HORRIBLY PAINFUL PROLONGED DEATH!?" He yelled, stomping up the stairs.
Sunny stared at Hawkiss, briefly trying to figure out where that accent came from. Eventually he looked down to Melchy and smiled as warmly as he could, though it still came out awkward.
"Do you want to go with that man, little one? I won't make you go if you don't want to! I'll protec- Hey! That's my kid!" He informed Riley as she moved past him.
Harper gave a verbal cheer when they were successfully at the apartment door. He stepped inside and motioned for the other children to follow.
Soloman was still pounding away on his drums blissfully when he looked up and noticed the kids. "Heeeyo! Here to play? Come on in, Eliot's bass is just over there.. who wants to help me with the drums?!" He yelled gleefully, flipping the drum sticks around on his fingers and motioning for the children welcomingly.
"DON'T YOU DAAAAARE SOLOMAN!" came from a very annoyed Eliot outside.

Hawkiss stared at Sunny, obviously trying to work out what had just happened. Was this idiot really trying to keep him from doing his duty to the captain? Katrina was going to kill him.
Melchy laughed wildly when Riley insulted Eliot, and bared his teeth at Hawkiss. When Sunny gave him the option to refuse, he shook his head vigorously. "No!"
Hawkiss growled. "Yer a dead'n, little bilgerat. The Cap'n'll have me hamstrung if--"
Melchy responded with a string of curse words he could only have learned in the company of pirates, turned on his heel, and followed Harper into the apartment. He stared, entranced, at the drums Soloman was pounding on. When Soloman asked for someone to help and flipped his drumsticks, Melchy scampered over to him and waved.
"Indeed," Katrina said absently, watching the entire episode unfolding upstairs. So now someone other than a two-foot-high angry cat was opposing her first mate? Katrina smiled a little bit. Hawkiss didn't deserve what he was going through. That was what made it fun to watch.

Riley seemed to completely ignore the conflict going on with the adults, even if it did involve her a bit. Instead she followed quickly after Harper and Melchy, leaving the adults to their squabbles. Without wasting a heart-beat she dashed over to Soloman and his drums. "Ahh! You make music by hitting these?!" She had known was drums were, of course, the reality of it all was all the more amazing. Gee, to think just wacking stuff could make music! Sounded like her kinda deal.

(( mb has no actual clue what half these musical thinger mabobs are called so please excuse a few of these phrasings.. ))
Soloman beemed at the response from the children, even though Harper didn't seem all that interested and menacingly went for a deep blue bass laying on the floor next to the drum set.
"Alright, here we go." He patted his lap for Melchy to jump up and went to hand Riley one of the drum sticks, "Not too hard though, don't wanna bust em or anything." He grinned at Riley and then shook his head assuringly, "Don't worry. You get going fast enough and it's twice as fun as ever hitting em' really hard." He finally went to hand the other stick to Melchy and then patted a steady beat on the foot pad below the drums up top. "Go for it dudes."
Sunny put his hands on his hips and glared at Hawkiss, "He clearly doesn't like you! An judging by the way you speak of him I see good reason! Maybe we should just call child services, hmm?" He paused, realizing that probably meant they would look into Harper's living conditions as well. "Just... stay there!" He said almost sounding bold, until he was easily shoved aside when Eliot moved past him and screamed like a girl when he saw all the kids.
Finally! Ashley walked out of her room only briefly to see her son and his new 'friends.' She had a green facial mask on and her hair was tied up in a big poof at the top of her head, but judging by her attire she was getting ready to go out or something. "Yech,... I hope Harper grows out of this social phase soon, I swear, if you brats steal anything I'm suing your parents. Tell me little girl, why do you dress like that? Oh, don't awnser. A result of improper breeding to be sure, if only looking at your skin is any indication.." She asked/berated at Riley with a most disturbed scowl.
