Amakusa_Ryu
The young winged boy flapped him wings again as he settled down in front of another house. This was one of the five addresses he had found in the phone book for the most recent group of children. Well, so long as the children were given a good home, he was happy.

As quickly as he could manage, the young boy slid the envelope into the mail box, then rapped heavily on the door. Without waiting a second, he took back off into the air, headed towards another of the homes.

The letter reads:

Note
Dear Sir or Madam;

Your presence is requested at Aileen Shiroko's estate, 12 Elton Avenue. Please come as quickly as possible.

Many thanks,

Chaco Shiroko

The note is typed, probably for the convenience of the matter.

Zero wasn't *too* sure what was going on.

Eying the letter, then the address, she noticed that she was at the right place. But what the heck was all this about ?

A metal fist came up and knocked softly, and the reploid waited, blowing a braid out of her face.

Chaco yawned slightly and tossed the broom into a closet. He'd finally finished sweeping the entire first floor, though it had taken him a few hours. Well, it was done, anyway. He wasn't about to try the other floors yet, however.

When he heard the knock upon the door, he perked up slightly. He'd been waiting for the protectors for the five newest Sin'aeis children to arrive. Smiling, the winged boy moved into the foyer and opened the front door, looking out upon the woman, "May I help you?"

"Uh, well..." ...What if it was some kind of prank. s**t, she didn't THINK of that !

"...I found a note telling me to come here... Do you know anything about it ?" The girl looked a little sheepish, not really knowing what she was there for, or what to expect. She politely tried to stop her valid eye from taking a peek inside the mansion. DAAAAMN. That was one hell of a place...

No, Zero, peeking is not polite. With this in mind, she gave the boy a small, confused smile.

Chaco gave the woman a reassuring smile and nodded, backing out of the way slightly, "Yes, please come inside and I'll explain." He lead the way towards one of the rooms to the left, and motioned for the woman to take a seat. "Uhm. I asked you here because I wanted to know if you would do me a favor... uhm..." He stopped for a moment, deciding whether or not to tell her immediately. Well, he might as well... "I wanted to ask you if you would take care of a child for me."

Good, not a prank. But it only made her more curious about the whole thing. She came inside after sweeping her feet, trying not to stare too much as she followed. She was much like a child in this sence... Damn, it had to be the biggest house she had ever seen !

Ahem. Back on track.

The reploid sat, pushing right another subborn braid out of her face, and... was not as surprised as one might think she SHOULD have been when the announcement came out. After all, this was ratter low on the wierd scale so far.

It didn't help that no matter WHAT, Zero seemed to always have one place left for another child. Just... one more. You know. The thought of denying didn't cross her mind... She was too curious about the whole thing.

"...Well, that's... kind of sudden... But I might be able to manage. It depends trough... Ill'd like to know a little about him or her first, if you don't mind. I allready have a few people on my charge, and im sure a smoother transition would be better..." Not that any where ever jealous, at least openly, in her household, but better safe than sorry. "Know what to expect and all, you know ?"

Chaco nodded slightly. Well, she hadn't refused, that was a good sign. And she wanted to know more. Alright, he supposed. He paced back and forth a bit, trying to figure out how to put it. He hadn't actually told people any of this in a good long time. He left it for them to come to him with questions...

But...

Finally he nodded and turned towards the woman, "Uhm. Well, you see, the child is one of my kind, a Sin'aeis child. He's of the element 'Quail'. Er." He paused again, thinking. This was always something he found hard to explain.

"Err... See, we don't come from this place. Uhm. We're from somewhere I like to call the 'Old Kingdom.' Uhm. Children aren't born normally there. We use a process called breeding, where you take the magic from two adults and use it to create a new soul. Uh... The sort I do is different from what was done there. In this case I take pre-existing souls and bind them to elements, or kinds of food. Uhm. That's why... they tend to take on some features related to that food."

He wondered if he was confusing the woman as much as he was confusing himself.

...Well. That was... very clear ?

...That'lld teach her to ask questions.

"Well... I think I got that. So they come from other worlds, well, nothing im not used to, im not from there either." She shrugged, not really too wierded off by the concept, it seemed.

"...Yes, I guess I can manage... I didn't get everything you said, but that'lld do." Hey, if the kids had problems finding a way to explain... That alone was more info that she got for at least half her other childs, easely.

Chaco nodded and smiled, "Alright then. Uhm. I'll go and grab the child then." With that, he exited the room and took off up the stairs and entered the nursery. He'd had the Silk Worms looking after the children for the last few hours. They'd gotten really good at taking care of babies.

Scooping the child into his arms, he returned to the room where the woman was, and placed the child within her arms, "You're free to name him whatever you want. Oh... Uhm..." He blinked slightly, "I haven't gotten your name yet, I don't think."

Zero waited, as calmly as she was able...

And then she saw him. One could say she melted on the spot, the very second her eyes came in contact with the tiny blue ones.

Oh gods...

"...He's adorable." She whispered, seeming almost afraid to raise her arms and hold him. She, however, managed to hold him right.

It took her a moment to notice his question.

"Oh ! My name is Zero... and I don't really know your name, either..."

Chaco smiled, "Ah. Sorry, I didn't even introduce myself. I'm Chaco." He bowed slightly, then ran a hand through his hair. Well, she seemed to like the child, another excellent sign. "By the way, you're allowed to come here as often as you want. Just come right in. It's easier on my family." He laughed slightly and smiled at her.

"Uh, okay... if you say its allright."

The little quail tugged on one of the jacket sleeves, visibely asking for some more attention.

"Shhh..." She said, smilling down at him. "Tori seems like a good name for you..."

Zero came back home with the pan of her jacket over her arm.

To the elder, it usually meant that she was bringing something... or someone... home. And sheilding it from the elements. Which made much sence at the moment, because of the soft rain that was falling.

Yoku's curiosity was piqued, and he slid from the window, heading to the door and waiting for his mother to climb up the stairs, which took her a little bit of time because of her blind eye.

Zero still managed to be surprised to see her elder adoptee there, even after all those times. "Uh ?" She blinked, then smilled. "Ya, ya. I know."

"So, what this time ?" Yoku inquired. The boy could almost pass for her biological son... if not for his pure, glimmering white skin.

"A long story."

"You always say that."

Zero laughed a bit, careful not to upset the little asleep bundle in her arms. "I should know that doesn't work on you anymore. Well... Someone left a note, and when I went here... Well, see by yourself..."

Tossing her jacket aside on one of the chair with her free hand, she revealed the little boy, and the vampire peered to get a closer look.

"Jeez, he's adorable." His purple eyes returned to her. "You're sure ill't be okay ?"

"Just.... don't wake him up." Zero mumbeled, having spent more than half the way back trying to coax the boy to stop crying. "It's not like I had much of a choice, I think... beside, I have you and Nebula to help me. We should do fine."

"Great, trying to lash me in without my permission ?" The girl in the hallway teased. "Oh, jeez, Z. Meh, I feel nice, ill help."

"It should not be too much of a martyr to your schedule." She teased.

"But hey... He needs a last name, doesn't he ?"

"...Now where did *that* come from, Nebula ?"

"I dunno... Yoku's one thing, he had a family before. The boys had their last name, and I can understand being unconfortable for Shiku, but him ? I dunno, I think it would just be... right, yanno ? Fitting."

"Yeah, she has a point... kind of. What's his name, anyway ?" Yoku shrugged.

Zero blinked. "Tori. ...But mine doesn't make a good last name. Its not really... a last name."

"Your dad's, then ?" Nebula spoke before thinking, almost slapped herself for it, but then was surprised by the look of ponder on her friend's face.

"Tori... Hazuki. It... sounds right. Yeah.... it does."

Yoku and Nebula just grinned to teach other. Maybe, at least... Zero was healing over her old wounds.

Good thing I brought all those blank books. First page of the pretty sun book, for an equally pretty boy.

But... I... have a baby magnet on me... don't I ?

But god... those eyes. I couldn't resist. I can never resist it. x.x;

So I have yet another child on my charge, Tori. He's sutch a cute little boy... brown hairs with a little black tuff. Kinda like a quail... And that was his "element" is, it seems.

Well, he's crying... I better go see what's wrong.

"Hey, hey now..." The blue-haired girl whispered, trying to calm the tiny baby she held in her arms. She was not... the best person ever with a child. "Caaallmmm... Look, there's a birdie !"

The small boy blinked, and stopped his crying as he glanced at the blue jay that was perched on the tree across them, as Zero was sitting on a banch. What a pretty bird !

The pitter patter of little steps followed by much more matured once echoed on the concrete path as Tenshi followed after a wobbling Ancelin. Ancelin seeming to be practicing her walking. Tenshi smiled as she kept her arms out incase Ancelin started to loose her balance. Although it wasn't really needed, she was getting good at walking.

Tenshi then stopped as she heard what sounded like another womans voice, looking upward as she held a hand out for Ancelin.
"Anny wait a second." She said, looking up into the trees. Ancelin did as she was told and stopped dead in her tracts, looking up to Tenshi. She then looked up in the tree and tilted her head, before letting out a giggle of delight as she spotted the little boy in the woman's arms.

"Hello up there." Tenshi called, smileing as she looked to the woman, it seemed she had her own Sin child.

"Hm ? Ah, hey." Zero smilled. "How its doing ?"

Tori blinked likewise, but smilled when he spotted the other baby, making a little happy noise.

"You want to go see the other boy, Tori ?"

Tenshi let out a bit of a snikker as she heard the woman reffer to Ancelin as a boy. She then crossed her hands in front of herself gently, lacing her fingures.
"Ancelin here is a girl actually, but I'm sure she'd be delighted to play with your child." She said with a tilt of her head, before looking down to An. "Isn't that right Anny?"

"Es! Es!" Anny cheered, jumping up and down with her arms spread out. She had mastered walking but she was still poor at talking. Tenshi had yet to hear her say a word correctly, but she was getting there.

Zero didn't turn bright red, but her eyes widened like dollars, and looked like she was about ready to hide under the bench.

"Oh, im so sorry, I can never always tell with the youngins..." The reploid looked pretty embarassed indeed.

Tori simpely found this funny, visibely, as he giggeled, the returned his attention on Ancelin, pale blue eyes holding a certain hapinness as he outstretched his arms himself.

"Ga !"

Tenshi smiled and shook her head, before she held her arms out to help the two down.
"It's quite alright. I have a hard time telling aswell sometimes. All babys look the same when you get down to the basics." She said with a giggle.

Anny reached back and scratched one of her wings as she gazed up at the three, waiting for Tenshi to help bring down the boy so she could play with him. She then started bouncing up and down, cheering for them.
"Cooo! Coooo!"

"It's still a little stupid... Ill get slapped for it one day I bet." Zero was visibely trying to be funny, it always helped her feel less embarased.

Ohh, the other one had wings ! Those lovely colors... Once Tori had been set down, he directly clawled to Anny, an hand reaching gentely to the wings. Soft ! "Ga !"

Tenshi smiled after Zero and the child had gotten down, before she folded an behind her back, rubbing her elbow with one hand.
"I've slapped myself for worse. I once called my Master Gabriel father when I first died." She said with a grin, trying to be funny but she probably just sounded bizzar and strange.

Anny smiled as the boy reached out for her wings, she was used to that reaction from people she just met, she enjoyed it also. She gently folded the wing he reached for out and let him pet it, before she reached out and gently touched the black hair/feather thingy petruding from his head.
"Cooo!" pretty, she cooed.

Zero, however, did not seem too surprised... as if she had heard much, much more abnormal. She raised a black and blue hand, that seemed to have a strange circle carved in the palm, and held it out to the other woman.

"I've never died, but I hope never to try it out." She grinned "My name's Zero, who might you be ?"

Tori seemed scared that she would pull on it for a moment, but let her once he figured it would be just fine. He seemed a tiny bit surprised trough, she was the first one to ever do that... He always thought of it as normal.

He let out a coo of thank you, before letting go of her wings, carefull not to pull any feathers. He knew what being yanked on felt like, and it did not felt good >_x

Tenshi smiled and took her leather clad hand and shook the woman's in return.
"My name's Tenshi. Tenshi Kurohano. Nice to meet you miss Zero." She said with a nod, before peering around for a bench for them to sit on.
"Dieing isn't so bad. I've done it quite a few times now. If it's not painful it's just like going to sleep." She said with a nod. Being in her job line she had to of died a few times. She was a mix between a devil and an angel anyways.

Ancelin smiled as the boy let go of her wing. She in turn letting go of the thing sticking out of his head. She hadn't pulled, she knew what it felt like to have her wings yanked on. Onii had done it once and it did not feel good.
"Cooo" She smiled, before sitting down on the ground with a 'thump', so she could be eye level with the little boy.

"Well, I've been told im one of those damn things that never dies, so I guess it works at my advantages ?" The blue haired woman laughed. She was a robot, after all. "I've passed for dead a few times. It's hard to tell on me..." She laid back on the bench, resting the back of her head onto her metal hands.

Tori, likewise, sat down to try to make things a little easier, looking at her with curious little eyes, smilling as well. Why couldn't mama has brought a few toys ? Then he could show his plushies to her ! "Gaaaaaa."

Tenshi smiled and went to sat down beside Zero, listening completely, before she realised there was somthing blocking her legs. She stood up and took a little shiney blue ball out of her pocket, before sitting back down. It was An's, something she brought for her to play with. She then rolled it over to the two infants, grinning before she turned her attention back to Zero.

"Aaah I see. Cyborg or Andriod I'm asuming by your complection? I've met a few like you before then." She said with a smile. Robots and machinery really did amaze her. Since she had lived lives in the past without them, she always found them quite handy and astonishing, not something to take for granted.
"How long have you been active?" She asked, as if asking her age.

Ancelin blinked as she saw her ball roll twards her. She then picked it up and smiled, looking twards Tori.
"Coooo?" she said, holding it out for him. Offering to let him play with it. She kept it so clean and polished up, if Tori looked down at it he could of seen a distorted reflectiong of his face.

"Keen eye." Zero let out, visibely a little surprised, the eyebrow of her scarred eye rising sightly. "Reploid, actually, but that would make me pretty close to an android. As for time, uh.... maybe 5 years or so ? I lose track sometimes." She admitted.

....Ball ! He took it as soon as it was held out, visibely facinated by how reflective it was. Shiny ! Anny was lucky, he didn't have a shiny ball like that ! Maybe mama would get him one later ! "Gaaaa~" He smilled, gentely pushing the ball torward Anny again, when he was done observing.

Tenshi nodded her head and smiled, that sounded neat in a way. And Five years old? Wow, in a way that didn't seem like a long time to Tenshi. years seemed to go by like minutes to her anymore.
"That's interesting indeed." She said with a soft grin. "Where you created with a purpose of fuction? Like a gaurd or care taker or something along those lines?" She asked, her child like curiosity getting the better of her.

Ancelin smiled as the ball rolled twards her on the concrete. It was just a normal old ball you could buy at a store in all actuallity. Just a clear rubber bouncy that Tenshi had bought her and Ancelin in turn covered in car wax to give it that extra glimmer. She then rolled it back to the little quial boy, as if playing pass around.

Zero, visibely, did not mind the questions too much.... probably used to them. "Well... I was an anti-virus unit. I also pretty much acted as a daughter for my creator." Her brow creased as she mentioned her creator, trough.

Tori seemed to get the idea pretty easely, giving a tiny wap as the ball returned to him, sending it spinning in Anny's direction again. That was fun, really fun ! He gave another happy coo.

Tenshi nodded her head as she leened forward, resting her jaw on the palm of her hand as her elbows rested on her knees. Her free hand though just seemed to dangel in some offward direction.
"Aaah I see." She said, sensing a bit of discomfort maybe twards her creator? She dicided not to push the subject farther.

"In all honesty I forget how old I am. Gabriel probably knows though. My souls been around so long I can barely even remember my first life." She said with a sigh, feeling quite old even though her looks betrayed that notion.

Ancelin giggled as she gently pushed the ball with both hands back twards Tori. She spread her legs out to create kind of a bumper wall for the ball, before she looked up to the boy.
"Baaw! Baw goo wooosh!" She 'said' before holding her arms up in the air in exsaderation.

"Well, that happens... That must suck, trough. Trough there are things I wouldn't mind forgetting..." She sighed. "Blah, im sorry. I get all emotional about those things..."

"HU WOOSH !" Tori repeated. Even faster than a plane, yeah ! A plane sure had nothing on the speed of that ball ! So amazing !

"Snd ?" He tilted his head again, visibely wanting her to continue the game.

Tenshi frowned as she looked to Zero, she seemed to be in pain from some odd memory or another. She lifted a hand to reach over and try and comfort the woman, but then stopped and folded her fingures together, maybe she wouldn't be comfortible with that, having just met and all.

"Since your an andriod of sorts.. Can't you have your unpleasent memories deleted? So you wont have to remember them?" She asked, having remembered something to a similar effect she read in a comic book, about house hold computers shaped like humans with feelings.

Ancelin giggled and watched as the ball came zooming twards her, and then hitting her legs. She didn't even have to hit it, it rolled threw the half circle of her legs and rolled back twards the quail boy, which made Ancelin giggle and clap her hands together, impressed.
"ouuuue stwomg!" She cheered, aprently trying to say he's strong.

"I don't like having people go around my memories and stuff. You'll never know what THEY'LL do. Beside... my creator wouldn't approve if I took the easy way out. I guess it is a way to honor his memory..."

She turned her head to face her, as if the eye that had faced her, the one with the scar, could not see a thing. "...And sometimes memories are all you have left."

Of course he was strong ! Tori beamed. "Any swong two !" Visibely, returning the compliment before wapping the ball again, wanting to see if it would do the same thing another time.

Aaaah, that was it. Tenshi realised he must be dead, by the way she was talking. She frowned and nodded in consolense. She knew how much it hurt to loose a loved one.. She went threw that all too many times. She then realised that this woman said she was only five.. So that means he had to die within the last five years. That also ment she probably was the one who picked him up.
"Do you mind if I ask you his name?" She said, wondering if it would come to memory.

Ancelin kept her hands up, maybe it would agian. She then watched as it hit her leg and bounced over it, before rolling over acrossed the grass. Ancelin let out a gasp and quickly got up, chasing after it. She looked back to Tori, as if to tell him she'd be right back. She then ran after the ball, chasing it into a small mud puddle.

The ball stopped and sunk about half way into the mud, she then frowned and bent over to pick it up. She then looked down at it, before her lip began to quiver, and her eyes began to water. A burning feeling built up in her throat, yup, she was starting to cry. She then turn tailed and ran twards the others, going strait to Tenshi as she sobbed.
"Baaaaw! Baaaaaaaw!" She whined, pointing to her mud covered ball.

Tenshi blinked and then let out a soft sigh, shaking her head as she took it from her.
"It's okay Anny, Tori, I'll fix it." She said with a smile, comforting them both since she figured Tori would be upset aswell. She then reached into the baby bag she always carried with her, and got out some moist towlets, before she began cleaning the ball, shining it up for the children.

Ancelin just stood there sniffling and whimpering, whipeing the snot from her nose with a towlet she snatched from the box.

"Takashi Hazuki." She said, idely wondering why she asked. She came from somewhere else than gaia.... It would be unlikely...

But then her attention was sapped by the fact that Tori begain wailing as well, when he saw the mud covered ball. That was his fault, wasn't it ? And now the pretty shiny ball wasn't pretty anymore !

"Shhh, Tori Tori Tori !" Zero squeaked, visibely not the best woman around to handle young babies. "The nice lady it making it all better, see ?"

His tiny eyes widened, and he stared. Mama was right ! What was this, magic ? "Gaaaaa !"

Tenshi continued to clean the ball, easaly going threw six baby whipes to get all the mud off. She then took a seventh and did some extra shining, before holding it up.
"Don't cry! Look, it's alll better. See? No more mud!" She said, before holding it out to show An and Tori.

Ancelin sniffled and in a poor attempt, blew her nose in the baby whipe, she then folded it and whipped her eyes, before looking at the ball. It was clean agian! Good as new! She then smiled and took the ball, before skipping over to Tori, holding it out to him.
"Siiiney!" She cheered, holding it out so he could hold it and see for himself.

Tenshi let out a sigh of relief, she hated to hear Anny cry. And she only did when something was dirty. She then looked to Zero and let out a nervis laugh.
"Sorry about that. Ancelin hates dirt, she always starts crying when that happens."

...It was ! All clean and pretty and shiny !

"Innnyyy !" Yes, yes, shiny !

"It's okay... Ill just say that I want my nights back... That should give you an idea." Zero mumbeled. "If Tori's alone for too long, he cries. And by too long, I mean 5 minutes."

Tenshi let out a sigh, thank god all her kids where starting to grow past that.
"Yeah I hear you there." She said, all her experiance sure ment one thing, many many pains in the neck.
"Onii cried ALOT when I first got her. Same with Sakura. Thank god Oliver's a mute, and Ein's learning to talk, otherwise I'd go insane having four babys in the house." She said, slumping her shoulders. Just talking about it made her feel tired.

Ancelin smiled as she sat back down in front of Tori, before she spread her legs out agian.
"Genble" She said, saying she wanted to play agian, just gentler this time. She then held her hands out, giggling happily.

"I have two and I allready feel my sanity slipping." Zero mumbeled, yet she did not seem too upset about that fact... One probably might be surprised if they heard how many beings she had provided an home ever since she came to gaia, or that a woman that seemed to brash sometimes could be so caring. "One of them is a genie... he's worse than a toddler, mobility-wise. That's an odd story..."

"Ey." Tori nodded in aknowledgement, being careful to twap the ball with less strengh, so that it would not end up in the mud again. Muddy ball are not pretty at all. "Wee !"

Tenshi nodded as she looked to Zero, before she heard a peep going off. She pulled up her shirt sleeve and glanced at a... well not a watch. More like an arm band with a few buttons, a watch, and a big stone built into it. She then sighed and pushed the sleeve back down, bowing to Zero as she stood.
"I'm really sorry, but I gotta go. It's time for me to go to work." She said with a sigh.

Anny smiled as she pushed the ball, and then cought it back, holding it up as she giggled. She then gasped as she was lifted from the ground, holding tight to her ball as she looked up to Tenshi.
"I'm sorry kids, but it's time for us to go. Say bye bye Anny, I'll be sure you see him agian soon."

Ancelin frowned as Tenshi held her up, before she waved down to Tori. She then looked at her ball, and back down to Tori, before tossing it to him.
"Toor kneep!" She smiled, giving him the ball. She then waved over Tenshi's shoulder as she got carried away, pouting faintly as she didn't want to go.
User Image

"Ori cae bal !" Of course, Tori would take great care of this present. He waved, even when Zero took him from the ground, as well as the ball.

"Time for us to go back home too, kiddo."

"Ayyyeeeeee !" That was bye, not a scream of terror.

Tori met another baby like him not too long ago. Her name is Anny... I can't believe I mistaked her for a boy... God, I was so embarassed ! I would have died right here... Thanksfully her mother did not seem to mind. Very perceptive woman...

Needless to say, he loves the ball she gave him. He has to always have Anny's shiny ball close, or else boy do he screams... And I thought Shiku screaming was bad...

I want... my nights.... BACK ! >_<

Unlike Shiku... Tori cries alot. During nights. Not that I sleep much, that's at my advantage, but I like to be able to SLEEP when I decide to... x_x Yoku and Nebula has been helping me take care of him... Yoku more than Nebula... Her patience with crying children... is much left to be desired.

She loves to babysit him when he's quiet, trough. He likes watching her play Chrono Trigger too. Im not too sure how good that it for an influencable mind... x_X Meh. It can't be that bad... I mean its a game. As long as he doesn't go around trying to smack people with plastic swords...

Quote:
"I hate Aard~"

Such a sweet little voice, Kilah had. And she looked perfectly innocent sitting there in the garden just outside the mansion...if you didn't notice her ripping up some sunflower that had just grown in the most unfortunate of places, and discarded the fact her little song had been so far about the murder of her 'mortal enemy'.

Rippp. With the flower long dead, she dropped it and wiped her hands on the grass. Pollen. Ew. Looking nothing more then disgusting, she got to her feet and the oh-so-lovely tune came to a hault. "God damn, this place is so boring."

Sitting in the grass not too far away, there was a woman and a child. The child, with a stange black tuff of hair, was simpely looking at everything with immence curiousity.

Zero smilled a little, unaware of the girl, or her lovely little song.

"Tori, look, there's a butterfly..."

"Ahhh ?" The little quail boy perked to look at it.

It was annoying, to say the last, to not have the company of her 'eye dog'. Even if he was a griffon, and far from a dog. Sure, she had little trouble getting around most of the time, but normally there were voices.

Voices she could follow. This time it was just some lady and some baby. Nothing interesting, at first at least. Getting to her feet, she only made it about five steps before bad luck struck her like lightning to the earth and the girl tripped.

Hardly a damaging fall, but the loud, "DAMN IT!", would certainly make it more noticeable.

Once her balance was restored, she was content with just sitting. "Hmph."

And the loud scream was all Zero needed to have her attention capted.

"What the hell ?"

....We don't have much better on this side, folks.

Tori glanced, then, at last, spotted Kilah. "Ahhh ?"

"Hm ?" Zero looked in the direction he had, and noticed her as well. "Everything's okay over there ?"

"Yeah, just great." Yup, great. Fell down. Everything's fine.

Psh, adults. What morons.

Still, curiousty could sometimes overcome even the great Kilah. Careful to stay at a fair distance (being able to judge so only by voices), the toddler wandered forward. When she stopped, her head tilted to the side as if it would help her hear better, figure something out.

"Hey lady, you got one of those babies Chaco just made?"

Zero was a little surprised, but nodded.

"Yeah, I do... Tori here. Quail, I've been told..."

So the other girl came from the same place that he did ?

"Ga ?"

Quail.

With just one word, her entire mood changed. Quail? Ah, so it WAS true! Chaco had provided her with another bird. How perfect. Obviously pleased, and grinning as if up to something, she asked in a tone much to sweet to be real, "What's the name?"

Yes, he sounded cute. He'd be--

Wait, he?

Chaco had made a boy?

"Tori." Zero answered, smilling a little. "I just was given him a few days ago."

...The girl sounded nice ! Slowly, he crawled to where he was right in front of her, and cooed a little. She had pretty feathers too !

"Be nice, Tori." Judging by the girl's eyes... starteling her might not be a good idea.

"Don't tell him that." Kilah said hurriedly. Psh. LAST thing she needed was another one of "her" birds being brought up as a goodie-goodie. Mind you, she liked Taryn and Lore, but it got old fast. Sometimes she just wanted to knock their halo's off, or at least knock them in the head.

Fortunately, she'd become accustom to this sort of thing. She was excepting this new arrival to grab her feathers--the last three babies had. When he didn't she was surprised, but pleased.

The "bird mafia" did infact have a male "member", but he wasn't actually a bird, so this was a first. "Hey, Tori."

Carefully, she kneeled down, holding her hand out. "Can I see your hand?" More of a demand then a request, really.

Zero blinked, and shook her head. "Uh... I guess." She turned so that she her valid eye would face them, trough, and simpely laid in the grass again.

Tori tilted his head a little. He was used to have people ask about his hair tuff, not his hands... Nothing special on his hands. But he put his tiny little hand in her's anyway, looking up at her with a curious glance.

"Mmkay, good." Seemed she approved of his exsistance, and released his hand. Good, no creepy fins like that Flitch kid. Those just bothered her. And don't even get her started on that kid with four hands--just, yuck. Of course, she rather liked Flitch just because he obeyed her every command.

"Mmkay, squirt, let's go through the stuff here. So listen up. You're a bird--which is good. Very good. You're in what we call the 'bird mafia', understand? That means anyone who messes with you, messes with us."

"Ey." Which was probably as close as an aknowledging that Tori could even manage at the moment, managing to sit and still look up at her. Mama said that too, so it was okay right ? Yeah, that was okay.

Thanksfully for Kilah, Zero seemed focused on her laptop now that someone else was watching Tori, not really listening but sending a glance every now and then to make sure everything was fine.

Kilah didn't seem to care much if Zero heard her or not, though. How much she spilled infront of adults depended. Like one of the protectors was too timid to say a cross word about anyone. Hell, Kilah could unleash her plans for world domination right infront of said protector and she wouldn't say a word.

Then there were the less nosey ones, or ones who just didn't care enough to listen. This lady seemed to fall into that category. "Anyway, I don't except you to do too much being as you're a baby. Ancelin is a baby, too. She's another bird."

Best go over them all while she was at it. "Now, you've got Ancelin, like I said. Then there's Taryn and Lorelei. They're too nice, but okay to have around, except Lore can't focus very long. And then Lyrus, you best get on his good side."

Ah, Lyrus. She wondered what he'd think about another boy being in their little group.

"Next to me, he's in charge, even though he's not a bird. He'll protect you good, though. He even stabbed a bad lady in the foot with glass one time for messing with us."

Ancelin ? ...Anny !

"Any !" He smilled, visibely pretty happy. Anny was awsome, and maybe he'lld get to see her again now.

But then when she told about Lyrus, the little quail's eyes whidened with facination. He had to be very strong to do that ! "Oooo..." Clearly, he was impressed. Very impressed.

"Yeah, Anny." Good. He was smart. Well, smart enough, babies in general were just stupid, and nothing would change her mind on that. "She's my cousin, kinda." She was obviously pleased with herself for putting Lyrus in the spotlight, making him seem so amazing.

But let's not forget who was in charge here. "Yeah, he's cool, strong and mean too. But I'm in charge, so remember that. He's only in control if I get killed. By like, you know, the man."

Let's see, what else was there? Hmm. "Yeah, I guess that's it. You don't spend to much time with Lyrus, though, because he needs to be with me mostly." Indeed Lyrus was high on her list. "Oh, and Mignon. She's not in the mafia, but she's cool too. Flitch and Junketsu, too."

Oh! "And Aard. You stay away from him. He's very bad. He'll hurt you. Like a monster."

A monster ? Tori didn't *like* monsters. They are all big and scary and and...

...But he wasn't gonna be scared by a monster ! Right ? Right. He was a big boy after all.

...The man ? Uh. Who ? What ? ...Probably doesn't matter all that much.

He did his best to commit the names to memory, but blinked, realising he didn't know HER name yet. That might be a problem.

"Oh ?" Probably had meant to say who. Language was a little problem at the moment. "Oh yu ?"

"Akilah."

Speaking of, she could hear Noyama calling for her quite a ways away. If there was thing that could defeat a mafia, it was a mother. She most certainly did NOT want to have to experience that "grounded" deal again.

Regaining her balance on her feet, she made a half-hearted gesture that could be taken as a wave. "Okay, I better go. Remember my name, because that's who you need to ask for if anyone starts something, got it?"

Then she turned and hurried toward the voice of her protector, careful not to trip, of course.

For a boy, he was good enough.

"Ey." He nodded again, waving before returning to Zero and falling asleep on her knees.

Tori has met someone else today, Kilah. She's sightly older than the other I've seen... and im not sure if she's... a lovely influence, but he seemed to like her so much... Oi. >_x;

Tori seems to have alot of interest in my collection of fans. I hung one in his room and he loved it. I might give it to him when he's old enough to take care of it properly... Yeah, I think ill do that.

I get the feeling Tori will be a mixed bag of interests... Just like me. I had to buy him a pair of dogtags because he kept trying to grap mine. Ill'd give them to him when he gets older, as well... Im not too sure leaving him alone with something so small is the best idea.

He likes to put things in his mouth... but I heard that was normal. Better it be a plushie than something tiny...

...Or Siru's tail. >_x I think I have an annoyed feli to go calm down.

Gardening while watching not one, but two babies, could be mayhem.

But they weren't too bad... As long as Tori didn't try to drag Shiku into the sunlight, really. They where quite content to just sit and "talk" with an assortment of cooing and half words, as their mother was setting up flowerboxes full of pansies, tiger lillies, or other sutch plants, some of which would grow to overflow the box and create quite the effect, she knew for experience.

Tori wasn't too interested at gardening itself. The moist earth had captived his attention for quite awhile, and Zero had to teach him that earth does NOT equal food... But he had quickly lost interest and returned to his "conversation". Oddly enough, they seemed to understand each other quite well...

Once realising of the new arrival, Shiku has pouted and brood for awhile... But had soon came to realise that this new boy was a lovely playmate, after all, trough... As long as he was not dragged into the sun, of course. That was a lesson Tori had aquired with a wail and a bonk of the head a few hours later, but after some crying, the offence seemed to have been quickly forgotten, and put behind.

If people always remained as easy going that they where as babies, Zero swore... But none of that. She hummed, eyes on her two boys and hands covering the roots with fresh, moistered earth.

The weather had been flickle, but hopefully the warmth was there to stay.

Tori seems to be very curious about things... But few manage to keep his attention for long, its a little... funny, I guess. Maybe it's normal ?

He still likes my fans... he's always trying to touch each time he does see one, but he gets mad when I don't let him... I just know he might hurt himself if he handeled one wrong, and will let him when he'll be older...

I am so used to taking care of older children... There is this communication barrier between Tori and me that I am not used to have... Shiku has one of those too, but to a different extent.

Im still learning, and im still aiming to do my best...

Just hoping that my best will be enough.

Tenshi_Kuronaho
Tenshi fluttered up the sidewalk, she seemd to be doing this alot today. Carrying a basket filled with little pink boxes with blue bows. She walked up to Zero's doorstep, and knocked on it gently.

"Zero? Tori? Are you home?" She asked. Aprently not. She shrugged and set the one with a tag saying "To: Tori From: Tenshi and Ancelin" and then went back to fluttering off to the next house. She had quite a few gifts to deliever.

A purdy little opal!

The knock, and well... Tori's reaction to the knock... Was that woke Zero up, but of course, whoever it was was long gone when she finally reached the door.

"You'lld think im the only one in the place who knows how to answer a god damn door..." She mumbeled, then looked down, and saw the tag, a smile drawing on her face as she took it and closed the door.

"Tori, guess what !" She smilled, at the baby who peered from his crib. "Anny came and gave you a present !"

The grumpyness on the quail boy's face faded, replaced by a squeal. "Anny !"

"Yep, yep." Zero removed the tag and, since it was big enough, let Tori play with it. "Isn't it pretty ?"

"Blooo." He chimmed, touching the opal and visibely amazed by how smooth it was... The others rocks he had touched weren't smooth like that ! "Oooo..."

While he was captivated with the stone, Zero just smilled and opened her laptop, sitting on her bed. "It's called an opal."

"Ooooopa."

"Yeah, that's right !"

Tori was still clutching his opal tightly (and dodging the incoming Shiku who seemed to be captivated by it - it hadn't gotten to the point where Zero had to separate them, but still...) and overall being pretty happy.

Which was in contrast to his adoptive mother. She was just curled on her bed, watching the two half-heartedly.

It was odd how a single missing thing could make a place so empty... so lifeless. She perked when she felt something jump on her bed, but much to her chagrin, it was not the something she so wanted to see - but the feli was not discouraged, wriggeled himself trough the covers, snuggeling close and purring his little feline heart out. The girl gave a sad smile, but it faded quickly as Shiku finally snagged the opal and caused Tori to cry out, and thus the genie to bolt off in surprise and drop the stone on the ground.

"Don't do that, Shiku." Zero got up and dropped the stone in Tori's awaiting hand. "Ill get you one too.... Just... later, okay ?" She sighed.

Shiku gave an audible pout, and drifted off.

"...Damnit..." She mumbeled. Couldn't a single thing go right for once ?
