Well, not very surprising that the giant brute pushed right past Aitumn, and the poor bay couldn't hope to get in front of him. Wonderful. At least this would get out her pent-up irritation. True, she was maybe two or so hands shorter and not as big as he, but she'd be damned if she was going to let that stop her.
"You're a lot stupider than you look, you disgusting oaf," she hissed, ears pinned back against her skull, her tails still snapping together like whips. Just a touch closer...
There. She lowered her head a bit, horn aimed straight at him, and sent herself bolting as fast as her legs could carry her towards the Aeri. Her gait was smoother than his, it seemed, and if she was right his bulk wouldn't allow him to get out of the way in time, he was too close to avoid getting away uninjured. Hopefully he would either get hit with her horn and get a good injury that way, but if not, she had her teeth, hooves, and her muscular tails if need be, but she knew that there was no way in hell he was going to get past her, she'd make sure of that.

Heh, what was this? For the first time he seemed to actually pay attention the to mare as she spoke up and... came charging? Reya. Reya's had horns right? Holy shiz! And knowing him, his bulk wouldn't allow for a simple in the heels halt. Oh no, the best the Aeri could do to avoid such a thing was stumbling off to the side in a bit of a bulk... which of course allowed for the horn to still scrape past his shoulder.
And did that sting like nothing else! The Aeri stallion did happen to sumble back, tossing his head as he did so, while nostrils flared in agony. Physical fighting had never really been something he liked to partcipate in, but he had made an exception for the Jala. As for this Reya mare... well she seemed a bit more weapon prone then Aitumn. Which of course left him quite bewildered.
"Unfathomable wretch! I can't imagine how dull-brained you'd have to be to even think about getting with Aitumn! Its horribly sickening", he snorted back, though was quite wary as he laid his ears back once more, skirting off to the side to get a better angle; though conciously towards the tree once more.

"Call me what you like, you disgusting brute, you just made the biggest mistake of your life," she snarled, teeth bared, as she placed herself quickly and strategically between the Aeri and her little tree again. Her green eyes traveled from his face to the mark she'd left on him, then back at his eyes once more. Good, she'd got him across the shoulder, at least. "Try it again and you'll get more than just a scratch," she warned with a toss of her head, unconsciously flicking droplets of his blood off her horn and onto the ground below.
It was nerve-wracking to deal with a nequus bigger than herself, especially since the fate of their child hung in the balance, but from how he'd reacted he didn't seem like the type who loved to do physical battle. That was to her advantage, she thought, and it blew part of her fears to the wind. If she could try and hurt him again then perhaps he'd give it up as a bad job and sulk off? Hopefully, but she couldn't depend on anything less than driving him off with horn, tooth, and hoof, which was obviously needed with this one.

"Is that so?" the Aeri retorted, nearly snearing with every word that left his lips. Though despite this, he was rather at unease with how the situation had turned out. He wasn't fast enough to get past her unharmed, and he wasn't calm enough to not try anything else. Flaring his nostrils once more the Aeri took to walking a half circle, trying to find a better angle then the one he was at now, crimson eyes kept warily on the Reya mare.
Every step though, he had taken to bobbing his head, feeling the sting as if it were brought to his shoulder anew. If he were to get close, perhaps his bulk would be enough to push past her. Though, that might mean he'd have to take another hit to do so, and that didn't sit with the Aeri too well at all.
Maybe he should just get it over with then. No doubt the Jala stallion was easy to push around like before, and a few blows would do it. Though... where was the pompus blood bay? Giving a final snort to the Reya, he happened to skirt off to the side, flicking his gaze around quickly.
Indeed Aitumn had been a bit distracted with trying to give himself a bit of break, but he had inwardly smirked at the scratch she had given Zak. The Aeri wasn't nervous now, was he? It certainly seemed like that, and personally Aitumn had taken to holding a grudge of his own. As short lived as it was to the moment, he couldn't quite get the fact that little piece of him had intentionally been targeted.
Taking his time, for it seemed that Zak had other things on his mind, Aitumn had made his way over to the other end of the half circle created by the Aeri. Once more, ears were pinned to the sides of his skull, with feathered wings partially raised off the sides of his sleek barrel. He may have been a bit rattled up from being plowed into, but that didn't keep him from taking up a defeansive position. "I suggest you take your leave." No doubt this was taking a drain on Cressida, so Aitumn wished to end the encounter as soon as possible.

"Yes, that's so," she spat, tossing her mane. "It would be in your best interest to take your leave before I do more than a simple scratch. Pushy little git like yourself doesn't seem to be into anything more than using your bulk to push others around, so it seems," she mused aloud, taking care to never let him have an opening to get to the fruit. "Once you find someone who fights back, it puts you off immediately. Oh no, what will you do now? Do you want another nick on the shoulder? How about on the side? Or maybe straight through your thick skull, or doesn't anything get through that?" She half wondered if that insult to his intelligence had been understood or not. She figured not.
In all actuality, she wasn't drained at all. This was the most invigorated she'd felt in weeks. Instead of laying or standing around, watching out for others who might do the fruit harm, she was protecting it, fighting off someone who intended to destroy it. She still had no idea why it was being targeted, or why Aitumn was, but it was probably because the fruit was half of the blood bay that it had been targeted at all. She snorted, stomping a golden hoof on the ground, and glared at the green intruder, venom dripping from each word. "You sicken me, you disgusting creature. Leave now, or I swear I'll drive you out myself!" Thankfully Aitumn had joined her to prevent the Aeri from coming closer, and hopefully the brute wouldn't try to push past him again. To give some meaning to her words she half-reared, and the angry soon-to-be-mother barreled towards the brute with horn ready and teeth bared, aiming for his neck, shoulder, face, or anywhere else she could get. Hopefully this would drive him off for good, or at least for now, because there was no way in hell that she would let him get past her.

Insulting his intellegence had certainly caught his attention, and though the Aeri acted brutish, he understood perfectly well what had been aimed towards his mentality. How dare she. The little wretch. Many responses came to mind, though actually allowing such things to leave his tongue would be, in his opinion, a bit over the top. And that was saying alot coming from the Aeri. Instead, his nostrils merely flared with aggrivation, for the little Reya mare and Aitumn alike.
It was before he could do anything, make a move for her, the fruit, or even Aitumn, he saw from the corner of his vision as the mare suddenly had her front hooves leave the ground, and come rushing his way. Another blow wouldn't sit right with the Aeri, that was for sure. Especially with nothing he could use as a weapon of his own. Besides his hooves and teeth, but he had felt that horn before. And the possiblity of being struck again did not sit right with him at all.
In all honesty, pain did not sit well with the Aeri. "Dirty little wretches. You and that filthy unborn crossbreed!" He had said it. The thing had been on the tip of his tongue from the begining, sickening really. To Zak, nequus needed to stick within their own breeds, and he was certain most would agree. With a final snort he finally figured that sticking around, and with a Reya's horn looking to stick him a hard blow, was not such a good idea. Balking suddenly the Aeri took moving his bulk as quickly as he could... in the other direction of the Jala, the tree, and the fiery mare.
Though, he had to hope that she would get tired of the chase soon, or maybe she would not have the speed to catch him. Either way, he wasn't getting struck with that horn again.

Well, from the look on his face, he'd certainly understood the insult. Good, she didn't need to explain it to him. Even better, her idea had worked, he had turned tail and was attempting to flee. With a snort, the gilded mare lengthened her strides, catching up to him quickly. She'd hoped so; she was already going as fast as she could, and he had just started to run, so hopefully he wasn't running as fast as possible yet. She came up beside him, careful to stay at such an angle that he'd be hard put to try to kick her, she snaked her head out and tried to sink her teeth into his flank. Give him another mark, another reminder not to mess with her.
Whether she managed the bite or not she slowed considerably, though her ears were still pinned to her skull. "If you ever come back here again, you disgusting, sickening dolt, I will tear you to ribbons," she spat, glaring after him. With a toss of her mane and another snort, she turned and cantered back to the tree once she was sure he wouldn't come back and sneak up on them. She slowed to a trot then stopped beside the tree and Aitumn, then gave herself a thorough shake and sighed. "Well, that went over rather well, I wasn't sure if that would get rid of him or not." Her eyes flicked from the fruit to the blood bay, ears perking up now. "Did he get you? I don't think he did, but then again it's hard to tell if you have any injuries with that dark coat of yours."

Unfortunatly his luck just didn't seem to be that great, and his mind was hard struck on running; so his crimson eyes hadn't the need to look back... until the sound of hooves came thundering up beside him. Oh shiz, this wasn't good at all. And though Zak tried to throw a sideways kick like he had seen Aitumn do earlier, he couldn't quite aim it right, especially not in mid stride. Which proved to be his down fall.
It came quickly and left a thorough brunt mark against his hide, and Zak didn't dare to retort from the bite. He strides faultered and his wings struggled to get him into the air, but the brute was o-u-t of there!
As much as Aitumn would have loved to run after the mean-spirited brute, he couldn't quite get his body to cooperate; for it seemed he was still quite rattled internally. Instead, he took to flaring his nostrils as he saw Zak take a startled flight. This was great, his hip had just gotten rid of its stiffness, what's worse though, was his mentality. Sure, he had felt confusion and guilt from their first encounter, but that was now mixed with a horrible flicker of a grudge. To strike him was one thing, to include his unborn child was another.
Though, the Jala did flick his ears forward at Cressida's return, his hollow gaze watching the green figure disappear into the horizon. With a final snort the stallion returned his attention to the Reya mare, to whom he couldn't help but feel slight admiration too. Her and that horn of hers. Somehow, he couldn't help but wish that their child would be blessed with one; for it seemed to be a useful resource.
"I'm alright. Nothing broken as far as I can tell", but boy were his bones shakey. Then again, who wouldn't be with nearly a ton of bulk and hoof running into them? He would have asked her the same, but he didn't believe Zak had actually laid a hit on her.

Her heart was beating furiously in her chest, still excited over the encounter, and her green eyes found the brute of an Aeri as he flew off. She snorted, ears flickering back a bit, but she managed to keep them forward. He was gone, and it looked like he had no intention of coming back anytime soon.
She gave herself another thorough shake, trying to rid herself of the excitement, and managed to calm herself down a bit. She turned to Aitumn and stuck her tongue out. "At least I gave him a couple reminders not to come back," she said, unable to keep from laughing a bit. She certainly felt much better now, though now her body was beginning to feel the drain from the fight and from the tree. Oh well. She walked over to stand beside the bay, peering at him curiously, bobbing her head. "That's good." And he hadn't laid a hit on her, which was lucky for him. If he had, she would have run him into the ground, maybe a tear in his wing... "Well, I've already had my rest," she said with a final tone in her voice, eying him critically, "now it's your turn. Lay down and try to sleep, or at least take a rest, you look godawful. 'Course I think anyone would after being plowed into by a brute like that, though I don't think he'll come back for a long while, if at all. I think I can handle things while you rest." She nodded again, more to herself than anything, but either way she was determined that her partner had his rest. It was only fair, she thought, though she was getting exhausted after that. To put more strength to her words, she gave him a gentle nudge on the shoulder with her muzzle. "Rest." She figured he would be a bit too shaky after that encounter, but rest would hopefully do him good. He could go get a little air later, once he settled down a bit. She couldn't tell how shaky he was, though, as she wasn't the one who was barreled into and tossed aside like a rag doll.

The blood bay did give a slight smirk at the showing of her tongue, his hollow gaze untelling of its owner's inner feelings and workings. As far as he knew, that's how his eyes had always been. "I'm sure he wouldn't bother coming back after something like that", he confirmed, giving his own firm bob of his head. Though, that probably wasn't the best idea, but he bit it back.
As for for the resting thing though, he normally would have been one to argue, but he had already been thoroughly exhausted from before. However, that did not stop him from giving a slight tease over it. "Naw, he's not as heavy as he looks," the Jala spoke, extending his muzzle out to nudge her back. Still, he didn't give her the chance to retort, for the blood bay allowed himself to slowly drop where he stood; feeling as though his knees may buckle in the midst of it.
Flicking his ears from side to side, the Jala took a final scan of the area, before stretching out his neck. Which of course, played the cards for his next move. He did happen to stetch out his feathered wings, though they did happen to brush past her cheek before he folded them back.
Well, he may have been shaken and exhausted, but that didn't stop the stallion from playing around; espeically since she had started it. Again, the Jala inwardly smirked.

"He'd better not come back, or he'll have more than a scratch and a bite to flaunt about," she said with a smirk, flicking her tails. "He might not be as heavy as he looks, but he's sure stupider than he looks, I mean, really. What nequus in his right mind would go after the sole fruit on a tree whose parents are right there? He must be more of an idiot than I thought," she scoffed, talking as he laid down, thankful for his lack of argument, but she didn't miss his feathered wings.
Smirking inwardly herself, she leaned down to gently nudge his neck. Sure, she had started it, but that doesn't mean she had to be the one to finish it. Besides, teasing was so much fun.
"Even though he seems like a brainless dolt, I think he'll have enough sense not to come back. And if he does, well," she couldn't help but laugh a bit, and nipped his ear gently. "Then he's no smarter than a rock, in my opinion. Not that he's much smarter than one now, I suppose."

The Jala did happen to chuckle slightly at that, his sleek head shaking slightly from side to side. "Must have been, especially with that horn of yours in plain sight", he spoke again, though his thoughts reflected much more then that. Zak had said something about it being a crossbreed, and Aitumn had to hope nothing else like that would happen in the foal's life. Certainly, with Nequus like the green brute out there, it would be much better for it to have the horn of its mother.
He should have guessed she wouldn't have stoped at a simple nudge, not after brushing her with his wing; but it was quite surprising to actually have his ear nipped at. With such a thing, Aitumn flicked them from side to side, trying to keep them out of range of her nipping. "That's true, though somehow I don't think that'll be the end of it when it comes to his grudge", there wasn't much concern in the Jala's voice. Though that was either due to exhaustion, or a simple need to protect the fruit. After all, the sooner the grudge was dealt with, the safer the fruit would be. That apparently, was enough for the Jala to find ease with.
As for that nipping though, he couldn't quite let that go unasnwered, as his muzzle lifted slightly to gently bump at her own.

She chuckled, fighting the temptation to attempt to look at her own horn, though she knew she couldn't. She wondered if it still had the brute's blood on it; probably did. "I think he was more intent on you and the fruit," she said, glancing up at the growing child as she spoke, then back down at the bay. "He only noticed me when I came after him the first time," she said with a smirk. "He'd've done better if he'd noticed me earlier, wouldn't he? I wish he hadn't noticed me at all, then I could've beaten him to the ground before he did." She smirked inwardly again, noticing his twitching ears.
"At least he's gone for now, though, we can deal with him later. I don't think he'll be tempted to come back too soon, though, especially after what I did to him. I've never been nicked by a horn before, but I'd imagine it would hurt quite a bit." She had been bitten before, though, and that hurt more than she cared to think. She didn't have much time to think on it, though, for all of a sudden another muzzle bumped hers, leaving her quite speechless and unsure how to retaliate to it. This hesitance lasted only moments before she nipped at his forelock, tugging it gently. "You little cheater," she smirked, flicking her tails and aiming another n** at an ear.

Aitumn did take to a hearty chuckle at that, despite himself and the yawn that was sure to follow such a thing, as it often did when he was tired. "I believe he might have thought twice had he the smarts to notice you first", at least now Zak would have some sort of reason to avoid the fruit lands now. Which was a good thing, for Aitumn didn't quite feel like putting himself out on a limb just yet, not until he got to see his child first anyways. And even then, he now knew of the brute's intentions. He knew talking wouldn't help much of anything, and that the Aeri was determined to finish this business. As much as Aitumn had to admit it, their next encounter, with Cressida there with him or not, it wasn't going to end well at all.
At the mention of being nicked on the other hand, his hollow gaze did travel up to her horn, noting the slight crimson that spirled down its length. "Well if I were him, I wouldn't want to be nicked either. Not that'd I'd know, however. Considering I have yet to have a tangle with one", he smirked, but the expression was wiped off his muzzle quite quickly as she tugged at his lengthy forelock.
"Me? A cheater?" he spoke rather agasp in his joking manner, having a particular ear 'dodge' the n** coming towards it by swiveling the thing around. No one ever said Aitumn wasn't agile. Which of course, left a rather smug look on his maw, as if he had just retorted in the grandest of manners.

She chuckled along with him, a mental image plastered in her mind of beating the rock-brained Aeri to the ground because he hadn't noticed her in the least. Dolt. "Again, I'm glad he didn't notice me at first, he might not have that nick on his shoulder if he'd noticed me right off." She smiled inwardly at his yawn, wondering when he'd tired of their teasing game. Hopefully not soon, it was getting very entertaining. "I wouldn't want to know, either, truth be told."
Since the ear she had been aiming for had deftly flicked out of her range, she made a move towards the other instead. "I wonder how I dare to ever even think of such a thing," she said with a smirk, her voice holding a mock despairing tone, "but yes, you're a dirty little cheater," she said with a smirk, taking the opportunity to lower her muzzle further, and bumping it gently against his cheek before taking another careful tug at his forelock. "Goodness knows you're the only cheater around here."
