Wow, Tufah seemed so brave! Simi liked exploring caves, but he didn't just barge right in and yell hello. No, he did it a loooot slower. That might be 'cause he didn't want to get in much trouble though either, because he didn't want to trouble his parents with anything. Some would call it being a goody two shoes, but he just thought he was being a good kid.

Simi's ears flicked backwards, nervous if there was going to be a call back. And indeed, there was. Tufah's echo!

His ears flicked forward as he took a step towards Tufah, listening intently to try and hear if anyone else was in there. He didn't hear anything but the echo fading away and the silence returning.

"Maybe no one's here right now? It seems like a deeeeep cave though."

It did seem deep, but Tufah had confidence in her body and it's senses. Whiskers and fur were sensitive to space, she was surefooted enough and night vision wasn't bad. She'd be fiiiiine. And the dark was hardly a worry. The silence a little foreboding perhaps but it did look like it was empty.

"Are you scared of it, Simi?" She teased, joking.

"N-no," he studdered, trying to seem brave. He should be, he was a boy! THey always had to be brave, that's what he figured. He followed behind Tufah quietly, trying to peer through the darkness to see if he could see anything. It was much too dark to, though, and even though he had explored many caves before this, his senses still were not as great as they could of been.

Plus all those other caves weren't so deep, either. "It's so daaark."

"Mind your paw here." She turned her head to say, once or twice, until they reached a little ledge at the back of the cave. Tufah was surprised at how far away the light of the entrance seemed from here and how dark it really was. Safe in the knowledge Simi wouldn't be able to notice it, she let a shiver go down her spine all the way down to her tail tip. Not quite scared, but excited. This really was a deep cave and the dampness of it's walls masked many scents - who knew what was back here!

"Don't think we can get up there." She nosed the ledge and stood on her back legs. Too high to jump to, at such a sheer angle. Maybe she could boost Simi up...

"Unless I helped you? And you could tell me if there's anything cool."

Simi's own nerves were getting a bit shaken, though it wasn't all because of excitement. He felt more secure with Tufah with him, but even then, it was still really dark! And strangely damp. Simi wanted to figure out just what made it so damp. Was it because it was a bit colder back here? Or was there something else lurking around?

His ears pricked up as he heard Tufah. Turning his head, he felt mostly with his paws just to see how high up this ledge was that she found. If Tufah couldn't reach it, there was no way he could jump up that.

Until her proposal fell upon his ears. Ooh!! "Like, jump onto your shoulders? Okay!" He didn't even really think about what could happen if even then he couldn't reach, but he'd worry about it if it happened. For now, he was ready to explore just a bit more.

"Umm, should I just...crawl up?" He didn't want to just start crawling on her if she had another idea!

"Yeah, but don't crush me...maybe if I..." The rusty coloured female paced the ledge of the ledge, finding the shortest place. Then she leant against it, cheek to the rock and tensed her back. There! A springboard, a step. Later she would kick herself for literally letting one of the royals walk over her. Tufah was unsure still if enemies they must be buther heart was hardening towards them and it was something she wouldn't have borne had she thought of it then.

As it was, she was just excited and curious. Helping Simi was the only option. Tufah wasn't even thinking of him as an annoying royal cub for the moment, but a means to the end she wanted - to find out what was up there.

"There! Step up lightly and it should be easy to get up." The distance was halfed. Not much of a leap and she was sure she was strong enough to take his weight.

Simi waited patiently for a moment while Tufah seemed to set herself up, gearing up for him crawling up on her. He was a bit nervous now, as if he didn't make it, he'd feel like a bit of a failure in front of his 'friend', but he'd have to suck it up 'like a man' and just do it.

He trotted over to her when she was ready, a hard swallow the last thing he did before he scurried up her form to stand on her shoulders. Many sorries were tossed at her as she could just barely reach the edge of the ledge, flexing his claws out to give him a grip as he pushed off Tufah just enough to dangle from the side. "Oooh," was his only sound as he took a moment to gather himself up and pulled. It took a coulpe times, but just after he felt the strain on his legs he had managed to pull himself up onto the ledge.

"Eww!" was his first impression on the area before him. He could still barely saw, but what he saw wasn't really pretty. "Dead snake up here, ewwww." He tiptoed his way around the carcass, until something caught his eye. What was that?

Upon further inspection (which took a bit, since the ledge didn't go as far back as perviously thought), he found some treasure! Maybe it was stuff that the snake itself caught, or maybe something else. Simi rolled a bit of the shiney rocks out from the crevace so he could take a better look. Their edges were a little scuffed, either perhaps from a crow that had collected them, or the rough rock that surrounded them. Nevertheless, they had found treasure!

"Tufah, Tufah!" Simi chirped, peeking his head over from the edge to look down at the dark red girl. He smiled at her before his head disappeared, little bits of dirt falling over the edge before the shiney stones rolled off, bouncing on the floor below. "Treasure! Maybe the snake had them here 'til it died or something." He took aother sweep of the area, still staying away from the snake's carcass before deciding that there really wasn't much else around. Just something of a rope that wasn't in the best of shape. He nudged it over as well before trying to figure out how to get down.

She had to concentrate to silence the snarls that threatened to rumble in her throat. Though as he climbed up, Tufah felt she was entitled to. His weight was more than she'd anticipated and his claws pricked. Still, it didn't last long and they were successful! Thanks to her~! And Simi too she guessed...

"Well done!" As he reported his findings, she looked up towards the ledge with a smile. She dodged the treasures as he nudged them over and carried both stones out towards the light, then returned.

"Bring the rope out with you after you jump down and I'll take the last stone outside so we can see them. Careful how you climb down!" She stood there again. And again, later, she would muse about whether she could have got away with leaving him up there.

Ooh! Wait! Simi watched Tufah start to walk out of the cave without him. No fair! He ganced back down at the cave floor, swallowing a wimper but still not looking too pleased. He shifted around in his place, trying to get up the nerve to take that leap of faith. Finally he managed to kick himself mentally to jump, and with a big crash, he made into onto the floor. "Owww."

Rubbing his head with his paw, he unwraveled himself and took a moment to recover, remembering what Tufah had asked him to do. Scooping up the dirty rope with his mouth, he quickly trotted after her, his head and tail held high (even if he was looking like a dirty mess), the rope dragging along behind him. It was longer then first though, and dragged behind Simi with quite a distance. It was hard to imagine that at one time it was probably even bigger then this. The end that was dragged on the ground was fraying, bumping along on uneven, rough ground.

She'd be just drawing near again to act as a step when he leaped. Tufah was surprised when Simi made he jump on his own, and wasn't sure to be impressed or to scoff. But then, she was trying to get a good reputation - so she smiled and offered a compliment as

"Nice jump. I was going to come back..." She offered apologeticly, then walked out with him, taking the last stone with her into the light. Time to have a proper look at the fruits of their labour!

Dropping the stone with it's kin, she turned her attention to Simi's rope first. She sniffed it, but it just smelt of damp vegetable matter and a bit like rot. It was way too long and sorta worn. Not really that great though the youngest cubs might get a kick outta pouncing the frayed ends if it were dragged. Then her red eyes turned on the stones -

"What do you think of the treasure?"

Simi chirped at Tufah's apology, with a smile included. "That's okay, I didn't want to hurt you if I slipped." He knew that he probably didn't climb up her very gently, so he didn't think he'd crawl down on her (or something) much better. Instead, he dropped the rope on the ground in front of him as he peered at the stones carefully. They were both really pretty, one a pure black, and the other a deep red colour, almost like blood. An onyx and a garnet! They weren't as pretty as they could be, a little bit of dried mudd stuck on them, as well as just plain dust, but after they were washed at the watering hole they could be really pretty!

"Oooh, Tufah!" He gasped, rubbing at the stones with his paw to try and get a little bit of the dirt of. He got the clumps of dried mud off, but they were still pretty dirty. "We sure did find a treasure, huh?"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 04, 2007 4:57 pm

"Yeah, we did."

Tufah would have preferred interesting cave paintings or something, but she was very pleased to discover the pebbles were so lovely. Perhaps she could get one of the lions she knew to make something for her with one - something that wouldn't rattle during hunting but still look gorgeous. But which to claim...for Simi would surely want one.

Hmm. The red was lovely, and matched her eyes, but might blend in to much with her fur. And also - this cub was a prince, wasn't he? For all his annoying little habits. And his sickly sweetness - she could have fun with him...maybe this was the chance she'd been waiting for, perhaps not.

"Maybe you should take the garnet? It'd look fetching against your tawny fur, and will remind you of me, my friend." She offered, placing a paw against the shiny dark onyx. She was a dark one herself. It'd suit.

Simi's eyes widened with glee when Tufah offered him to keep the garnet. He would admit that he liked that one better, but if Tufah had wanted to keep both of them, he would of gladly let her, as well. But the fact that Tufah wanted him to keep one, to think of her and their little adventure together, well. That was just more then he could handle! Instead of shaking with glee, though, he managed to keep his cool and eye the garnet with a little more adoration.

"Thank you, Tufah!" He said, reaching out a paw to drag the garnet closer to himself. He'd try to see if Mother knew anyone to make it into a necklace, so that he'd always have it with him, and keep it close. It meant a lot that she considered him a friend, as well. He turned to her, a bright smile on his face. "I'll treasure it always, then!"

"Thankyou too, Simi. I'll look after mine well."

She extended her claws and delicately drew her gem closer, using the points to keep it close to the pad, not wanting to scratch it on the ground. Kipapae, she'd name it, a little bit of black magic. Tufah sometimes had fancies to name things. Hopefully she could have it sorted out so she could wear it when next she saw him. Now however she'd better take her prize and go.

"I'd better get going" She turned her face as if to check the position of the sun, looking near it not at it, to tell the time. "I promised to meet my mother Tiah."

Simi's attention was drawn from his gem back towards Tufah, his ears swiveling around to face forward. His deep brown eyes were almost giving away the disappointment in Tufah having to leave, but they had been away for a while, and it would be best to not stay out all day. "Okay!" he chirped, bouncing forward with an awkward step, as he was doing his best to not lose his gem. "I'll see you later, then, Tufah!"

Assuming that she'd start walking to go see her mother after he said goodbye, the cub scrambled home towards Pride Rock, where he decided that he just wouldn't show his mother quite yet. First he'd try to figure out how to wear it, and just say he found it if his mother asked. He didn't have to tell her everything now, did he? Nope, and now he had his special treasure, and it'd make him think of Tufah, and their adventure.
