"I'm on a quest," She replied after a few moments, her smile growing in the process. She had no intention of explaining further unless asked (as it was a sensitive subject) but for now she would present him with an answer. Her mother had always told her that you could decline politely or give a simpletons answer...usually an answer was enough to satisfy most and they would move on.
Then again, some of the stallions in her herd were morons.
All of them actually (excluding her father).
"Well I would have suspected that they may provide you with additional company," She returned her attention and the topic to him, taking a few more steps away from the edge and towards the middle of the clearing where it was more comfortable. For one who enjoyed basking in the sun's rays, the heat on her back was a comfort.
"One to keep watch and one to nurture...just as they are doing," That being said, she didn't even know the parents, "Perhaps I am under estimating you, I am sure you are quite capable."

"A quest?" His smile widens in gentle creases, allowing himself to lay by the basket and look up towards Ash. How interesting to be going on a quest. "I haven't ever undertaken a quest myself before, so I'm sure it's quite the experience."
Which is true, on his behalf. He had been content with his life the way it was until fairly recently, when boredom struck him fiercely. Taking walk after walk and adventuring the 'unknown' of soquili lands had become dull, and suddenly he was left without much to do...until the basket was given to him. It has been so far mixed feelings: it's wonderful to finally take care of someone else aside from himself, and he's completely open and ready for the challenges that await him once the foal is on all fours, however, as mentioned many times in conversation, the basket is hardly something to be happy about.
"Is there a place you are looking for? I've traveled all around this territory, perhaps I can point you to a good direction." It was a sincere offer of help; he had no interest to dwell into her private matters if she wasn't about to explain them readily herself.

"Actually, I am looking for a Soquili more than a place." The mare returned his smile with one of her own and shifted her weight to another hoof. She had been so concerned with ensuring she didn't appear to be a threat that she had forgotten her own discomfort. Now her limbs were somewhat stiff and it took quite a bit of effort to maintain her current position.
"I have no idea where he is, no one seems to," She explained after a few moments, flicking her tail lazily against her flank where the turquoise strands only served to emphasise the subtle colour of her coat. "He's my brother you see, but I haven't had any luck in locating him." She added, drawing her explanation to a close with the slightest of shrugs.
"But you are right, it is quite the experience." She mused gently, not entirely prepared to confess she had run away from her herd in what they would probably describe as an act of madness.

"Aah, I see. Well, I'm sorry to say that I have not seen a stallion with similarities to you...nor many, in general. I usually am alone on my daily walks." This tidbit didn't bother him in the slightest. He has always been accustomed to his solitude, and embraces it with open arms. He'll have the occasional visit from Johdan, who'll one day find the stallion while airborn, stick around for a couple of days, and then be off on his way into the horizon only to do the same thing in a week's time. It was a close friendship, as far as companionship goes.
Aside from him, however, Brannon spends his days alone. It was a nice change to have company right now, however limited it may be. "I wish you luck on your search, then."
[hmm, this would probably be a good point to wrap up unless Ash wants to ask anymore questions xD; ]

She was going to need a little more than just luck to succeed in her quest but his well wishes were appreciated and she gave a nod to indicate this. Allowing her ears to swivel at the sounds nearby, it was only after a few moments that she became aware of both the time and the circumstances in which she had encountered him - or invaded his territory...whichever came first.
Time to go. She had much to do and very little time to do it in.
"Well, I'm sure he will show up somewhere but I won't find him by standing here," Her tone was reasonably confident and with a small smile she began to move towards the entrance of the clearing once more. "I would offer to help you take care of your charge but that would be a little intrusive -" She paused, glancing over her shoulder towards him before giving another nod.
"So, stay safe...and perhaps we will see one another again." She finished, slipping towards the forest again and down the rather battered path he had left previously.

"Nah, I should be fine on my own." He nodded, glancing upwards to see her profile silhoutted in the same filtration of light as it was earlier. "Likewise yourself! It has been a pleasure."
Watching her disappear between the mauled branches of the shrubbery, Brannon wondered why she had to look for her brother; doesn't family usually stick together? Perhaps there was an interesting tale to be told...but not for a long time.
"Definitely one to keep an eye out for from time to time, perhaps." He spoke quietly to himself. He certainly enjoyed interesting stories, and interesting soquili to accompany in small doses.
However, that was for then. Now was the time to enjoy the evening and rest along side what will soon be his own adventure.
