Uh...
Azumoth immediately began to wonder if the baby could even swim. His eyes widened as said baby leapt head first in and then he raised them heavenwards. Oh by the Spirits! He hadn't signed up for this, all he'd done is speak to the child and tried to explain what it was like to fly. Now however, the little baby had recklessly leapt into the lake with no idea of how to stay afloat.
And Azumoth thought mares were a hassle!
Now proven wrong, the stallion could do nothing more than take a breath and duck his form under water. Submerged from head to toe (though crouching), he slowly moved underneath the foal and then began to rise. It was an action that would have been similar to how Sparks had lifted him before. Cupping him lightly between the legs, the only difference now was that the Spot had the additional support of two very large, leathery wings.
"Do you even know how to swim?" Azumoth enquired abruptly, turning his head round lightly towards the baby. It was an odd feeling to say the least, to have something so tiny on his back but it had been a necessary act...while the baby had been stupid in leaping to his own doom, Azumoth wasn't going to let him drown!

If it meant learning how to fly, he'd do anything. Jumping into a river to his death was definitely included. Call him foolish, but he was still only just a child. That being said, Charlamagne had warned him not to do anything stupid...well, had she forgotten to mention the part about drowning if he didn't know how to swim?
Apparently so.
Trying his best to squirm up to the surface of the water, which was utterly close to impossible, Spot freaked out-wanting his small hooves to touch the ground. It was so awkward and uncomfortable not having support by the ground. He hated it!
When Azumoth came to his rescue at first Spot had no idea what to think. As he was lifted out of the water, he felt much better but was still a tad shaken. He would never pull off a stunt so...stupid again. And that was definitely NOT like flying. Unless flying meant you didn't have the support of something under your hooves. Breathing heavily, the child relaxed himself (or tried to) on the giant's back, nuzzling in between the wings.
"Nope. I'm sorry, I thought...well, I'm not sure what I thought I just wanted to...fly." Spot responded after a few moments to catch back his breath. That was positively the scarriest thing he had ever gone through. "If...well, I'm not going to want to fly, now." The child managed a laugh, and looked back at Azumoth. The sight of him was much...different up on his back then it was on the ground! How interesting....

He could have laughed, he really could have. Perhaps if he had been a father himself he could have found the humour in the astonished expression. Perhaps said foal wouldn't be quite so unsettled either if he'd been aware of the fact that his 'father' or another parent would have been there to help him. There were many possibilities, but Azumoth wasn't entirely certain as to whether or not he liked the idea of the foal being afraid of something so simple.
...Water was nothing to fear, it was required to live so he should enjoy it.
"Flying is enjoyable when you know what to do, so is swimming," Azumoth explained gently as he began to wade into more shallow waters. Unaccustomed to the weight on his back, he savoured the rare moment and the warm wave of affection he felt from the nuzzling. So it was a foal and it simply sought comfort but it was nice - there was a reason this muant liked children...
"But leaping in at the deepest point is perhaps not the wisest of routes," a hint of teasing could be heard in the stallion's soft voice and he continued to move, the babe still on it back. Apparently, Spot had now had the benefit of riding on two rather exotic soquili! There were few who could claim to that.
"Choosing a more shallow location is safer, if you desire to try once more?"
It appeared that the mutant might be prepared to teach he babe how to swim!
How peculiar.

Perhaps when he grew he'd better understand things like swimming, or danger, or simple things like that...but now it was all too, well...different for him. Everything seemed to have to have a reason to exist, nothing was there just to be there. Why couldn't the world just be a whole lot easier and not play tricks on him? If he had known about drowning, or not being able to breath...would he have jumped in?
No! So the world should have warned him, or just not have let it happen.
Spot listened to the mutant, smiling ever so softly. It was still hard to regain everything after that little incident, and he still breathed heavily. "Alright, I'll...keep that in mind." He said shortly, keeping his body hidden under the wings still. These were comfortable, to say the least. Even though they weren't the ones that birds had, they were very soft.
Heh...the child's cheeks fumed a very bright shade of red as Azumoth teased him, luckily though, small enough so he couldn't see a thing if he looked behind him. "Yeah..." Spot nodded, not sure whether to feel foolish or just like a child was supposed to feel. When the offer to try to swim in a shallower spot came up, the child grinned and quickly moved from his confortable position and was now standing on Azu's back.
"Oooh! Yes! If I don't uh...go under then sure!"

"You won't," the stallion replied in a reassuring manner as he waded to more shallow parts. Eventually, the sound of sloshing could be heard in the low light as the mutants legs broke through the shallow waters. As it stood, the water barely reached his knees and it was with this in mind that he made his decision to set the babe down here. It would be deep enough to jump in from his back without getting hurt and he wouldn't drown either.
Thus, the stallion slowly lowered himself down until he lay in the water and released a snort. Extending one of his wings out flat, the babe could choose to scuttle down it quickly or could simply leap from his back without getting anything in his way. Really, it was Spot's choice but with Azumoth acting as a barricade against the 'tides' of the lake, there was no risk of the babe being pulled in deeper...he would have to drag the mutant with him if he wanted that.
That being said, the mutant could do nothing more than wince as the water lapped against his wound and did his best to mask the discomfort. He now had other things to be concerned with, he could give himself some sympathy later when no one could hear him swearing black and blue.
"Remember that when you get in, swimming is like walking...your strides just need to be longer and a little faster."
