I would suggest reading James, the entire book is not that long and their are several issues hit upon that affect many of us today. I particularly enjoy James 1:9 because I myself have a quick temper and should pay more attention to it. I enjoy James 1 the most out of the book, but it goes on to hit some other very good points. Our minister of music was preaching while our pastor was out like a month or two ago, and he pointed out the book of James to me, it is by far one of my favorite books now, and I thought I would share it with you. Hope you enjoy it and open up and listen to it, while it points out many faults if you pay attention and listen it can help you grow in your Christianity, and will help others to notice you are more like Christ.

At See You At The Pole I got a booklet of3 weeks of daily devotions and I really like it. This is what is in it for todays:

James 4:8 says"And when you draw close to God, God will draw close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and let your hearts be filled with God alone to make them pure and true to him."
-What an amazing promise of God. No one else can make you that promise-and actually KEEP it. Will you commit to drawing close to God? If so say this praye;

God, I commit to draw close to you. Please speak to me out of your word and show me areas of my life that you want to change. Open my eyes to see your love for me and your power to transform me. Please change my heart so that it is pure and true to you. I commit to seek you and cooperate with you. Please reveal yourself to me. Amen.

If you guys enjoy this I can post them up daily according to the book give me your thouights.

OK so every day I get these daily devotions in my email. I especially liked this one and thought I'd share it.

The spelling train:

Today's truth
For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10

Friend to Friend

My hands were clammy. Beads of sweat formed on my brow. That familiar knot in the pit of my stomach threatened to push me towards the restroom and my dry tongue began to stick to the roof of my mouth. It was 10:25 AM. Just five more minutes and the dreaded event would begin: the first grade spelling train.

Twenty first graders slipped their munchkin-sized chairs from their desks to form a semi-circle around our chief engineer. I always put mine at the end. If we missed the spelling word, the teacher held up a flash card, and we had to move to the back of the train. The class chugged along at a quick pace. "Dog. Sally. Bob. Spot. Red. Blue. Mother." Then it was my turn.

"Sharon, what is this word?"

Pause. Giggles.

Well, more often than not I had no idea. Even if I did know the word, I was so nervous that I would guess incorrectly, and simply sit in silence. I spent most of my time in the first grade in the caboose. As the year progressed, I did move up into the passenger cars a few times, but usually I didn't stay there long enough to keep the seat warm.

I order to help me the teacher kept me after school for two weeks and made me wear a name tag that had the word "the" spelled out. I had particular trouble with that word. Kids came up to me and asked: "Are you stupid?" "Is your name 'the'?" "Why do you have that name tag on?"

Eventually I did learn how to spell the word "the" but that's not all I learned. I learned that I was stupid, not as smart as everybody else, and once again...not enough. But you know what? That wasn't true. It was a lie from the enemy and it took many years for God to hold me by the hand and help me see myself as He sees me: a uniquely created, dearly loved, completely forgiven, totally accepted child of God.

That was over forty years ago, and now, my greatest joy is stringing written words together. I've noticed that life has many unusual twists and turns when God is at the helm. He takes our greatest weaknesses and turns them into our grandest strengths. That's what happens when we turn our lives over to Him -- we get out of the caboose and get to ride up with the chief engineer to places we never imaged possible.

Let's Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, it is amazing to think of all that You have done in my life. You have taken my greatest weaknesses and turned them into my greatest strengths. When I am weak, through the power of the Holy Spirit, I am strong. Thank You for working in me and through me, and help me never again to believe the lies of the enemy that say "I'm not enough". In Jesus' Name, Amen

Vent's thoughts: When I was younger I had a really bad speech problem. It really separated me from everybody else. I was made fun of badly, I went through speech for years and now I look completely past it. You now can't even tell I had one. There will be an occasional word I cant say and yes it does still sting a little when people make fun of it but I know God made that flaw in me to work with it and make me shine within in. I hope you liked this. Here's some verses it came with!

Here are just a few glimpses of what He sees when He sees you.

Matthew 6:26 Valuable

John 15:15 Christ's friend

Romans 8:1 Free from condemnation

Romans 8:37 More than a conqueror

Ephesians 1:1 A saint

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed

Ephesians 1:7 Redeemed

Ephesians 1:11 Chosen

Colossians 1:20 Holy

The Wonder of Grace at Work
Gwen Smith

Today’s Truth
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9, NIV).

Friend to Friend
A preacher of the early 1900s said that when he was twelve years old, he killed one of the family geese by throwing a stone and hitting it squarely on the head. He figured his parents wouldn’t notice that one of the twenty-four birds was missing and buried the dead fowl. But that evening, his sister called him aside and said, “I saw what you did. If you don’t offer to do the dishes tonight, I’ll tell Mother.” The next morning she gave him the same warning. All that day and the next the frightened boy felt bound to do the dishes. The following morning, however, he surprised his sister by telling her it was her turn. When she quietly reminded him of what she could do, he replied, “I’ve already told Mother, and she has forgiven me. Now you do the dishes. I’m free again!”

We all struggle with sin simply because we are human. “Everyone has turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good; not even one.” (Psalm 53:3) Let’s be real here. We are saved by grace, not by our goodness.

Grace is unmerited favor.

Not deserved.

Not earned.

I wrestle with sin all the time. My flesh loves to throw my spirit into a tizzy, but I know I’m not alone, and neither are you. The apostle Paul was one of the most passionate men of Christ who ever walked the earth, and even he struggled daily. He said, “I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good, I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. (Romans 7:18-20)

God wants you to cast aside everything that keeps you from Him. God wants you to get right with Him! He wants to forgive you so, like that twelve-year old boy, you can say, “I’m free again!” As you invite God to change your heart, He will faithful administer grace and forgiveness. One of my favorite scriptures says this: “Those who look on him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. (Psalm 34:5) Through Jesus Christ, we are seen as radiant! That, my friend, is the wonder of grace at work!!

i love this. and you know who this makes me think of? Undue favor. Because this is what their band name is made of. God didn't have to offer us eternal life. But he did, and for that reason, it was a favor from him for us, that was completely undue.

I think this thread should become open. Post each devotional as its own thread with the title of it, this will attract eyes better, and be more open to people who don't usually go into the devotional thred. Good idea?

I like a couple of chapters in Proverbs. I would go with 21 and 24. They are some of the great sayings of solomon and it some times helps me keep my big mouth shut.
