Straightening up, Safi locked eyes with Dodger for a moment, as though measuring the other stallion's intent; but he quickly adopted a grin as well, having decided that, mythical sharp tongue or not, there was really nothing to be concerned about here. "You're right; it really does look flatter than it's potential suggests; I'd say that Mr. Fluffy owes your your original volumizer AND a bushel of apples for the hassle alone. A stallion has to maintain his looks, or he's little better than a gelding."

And THAT would be bad. Though not nearly as bad as making insulting comments to charming young stallions!

Glancing from Dodger to Wadi at Wadi's comment, Safi was soon looking back at Dodger with a skeptical 'you really didn't say that, did you?' look. "Indeed, Wadi and I have made a pact of friendship, a great and noble thing. If what he says IS true though, you ought to be ashamed of yourself, being snarky to a sweet guy like Wadi. And you call yourself a relative." Tsking, Safi crossed his wings over his chest and gave Dodger a glare. "So, what d'you have to say for yourself?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 23, 2007 8:58 pm

"Yea! Told you i'd get friends eventually." Though Dodger probably thought his big impressive friend was cooler it didn't matter. Safi was his friend and so Dodger could toss himself in the lake.

He grinned as Safi tsked at his uncle. It was funny to see someone keeping up with Dodger without either one of them getting pissed off.

"I'm snarky to my own mother." And she laughed for a while then would usual glare at him with enough ice to make him shut up. "So why not my little nephew?"

He looked at Wadi and grinned before he turned his attention back to the winged stallion. "I have nothing to say for myself. I take back nothing i said but i am glad that he's gotten a friend. Wadi could use some company that isn't someone he's related to"

"Because your own mother is within her rights to kick you in the teeth, but Wadi, as your nephew and a gentleman, is bound to show more restraint." And he almost managed a straight face, too. "It's something to consider, at the very least."

Stepping closer to Wadi, Safi took a moment to glance over at the other Soquilis, checking to make sure that their rising voices weren't waking anyone else up. At least there was no movement yet...that he could see, at least.

Looking back at Dodger, he chuckled. "So very paternal sounding for the mere uncle. You should really give Wadi more credit, though; he's a special stallion, so it makes sense he's not going to do things the normal way, right Wadi?" This with a light nudge to the other stallion.

"She wouldn't do that. I'm to pretty." He grinned and winked at Safi. Rogue had other ways to make him feel bad and punish him if he did something really stupid. A kick to the shins hurt much much worse after all.

"I give him plenty of credit." He didn't treat him like he did his brother after all. "Have to be a little tough on him or he'd still be cowering under his Mama's legs. Tough love works as long as you're not too rough about it."

He knew Wadi liked him well enough. Not as much as Sedi but that was probably because for some reason the trouble making Stallion was good with kids.

He looked over at Safi and smiled. "Dodger's nice to me. You just have to know how to take what he's saying." He nodded as Dodger said so himself. He'd gotten used to listening to what his Uncle said to the others and had over time learned the inflections in his voice. He hadn't figured out why Wylie couldn't catch it yet though.

"Point. You DO have rather nice heekbones, and kicking them in might muss that up a bit." By now, Safi had decided that this Dodger really wasn't that bad; a bit slanted towards the attack, maybe, when it came to his speech, but that wasn't really anything to be concerned about. He was the same way, after all!

Still, it was nice to hear the assurance from Wadi. Safi himself didn't quite like the idea of badgering another into behaving (or not behaving) a certain way, but different ways for different families, he supposed.

But he himself saw no reason to pick any fights. "So, we're all nice and social here, not kicking anyone or picking fights. How's that for a good old conversation, eh?" Grinning, Safi moved up his wings to once again rest on the back of his head. It was a bit of a fidgety gesture, but at the moment, it worked.

He was starting to wonder if Safi always put his wings behind his head when he was trying to do something. So far he'd noticed it when the other stallion had been trying to convince him of a few things. It was nice in a way that there was already something familiar.

"Don't get him started on his looks. He'll never shut up" He nudged Safi and laughed softly.

"Just because i'm stunning." He grinned at is nephew and posed for a moment before he laughed. He managed to be quiet enough not to wake anyone else up but it was still a good laugh.

"I take it you're not from around here then?" He hadn't seen anyone like Safi before so it was a good bet he wasn't.

Grinning at Wadi after that discourse, Safi could only see the humor in thissituation. Hadn't this meeting starting with a warning? "Well, that makes two of us then, Wadi; get me started, and I'll be off for hours on what a studmuffin I am." A blatant lie, of course, but ever since Selene had first teasingly applied that term to him, it'd stuck.

And from the sound of it, Dodger had his own little quirk as well.

Unaware that Wadi was already making notes about his mannerisms, Safi kept his wings where they were, out of the way but resting comfortably without being completely flat. He liked having them handy, just in case. "Not exactly, no. I tend to stay with a two legger on the southwest end of the lake from time to time, and I suppose you could say that's my official home, but I'm basically a wanderer. Or roamer, rather, since I don't wander so much as flap about aimlessly." Since he wasn't the speediest or most stamina-infused walker!

"... what's a studmuffin?" He blinked and looked between his friend and uncle. That didn't seem to make sense at all and didn't sound at all pleasant to eat.

From the look Dodger was giving him he felt he was ablut to get laughed at again for asking about something he should have known about.

"You've got some work to do if you want to live up to the stud's around here." He flipped his hair slightly. "I'm afraid no one's prettier than my Mama and I got my looks from her"

He really tried not to laugh at Wadi's question and didn't know if he could answer it without doing so. The kid was just clueless some times.

Safi's mouth twitched. What, indeed, was a studmuffin? Turning to Wadi, he gave the younger stallion a grin and patted his cheek. "A studmuffin is a stud so sinfully sexy that you want to eat him up, naturally...and I don't know, I think I can manage if you're the best this place has to offer. Your mama might be a looker, but she's hardly a stud." Winking at Dodger, Safi stolled past the other two in a strutting fashion, extending each leg in turn and arching his neck so that each muscle was thrown into high definition before turning back, grinning.

"But I'll admit, you're passable. Maybe could do with a bit less fluff in the hair, but it'll work. What do you think, Wadi? Agree your uncle needs less fluff and more substance?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 23, 2007 10:02 pm

"Oh..." He let that mull around in his head before he snorted as Safi strutted for a moment. That was just horrible! Funny but still horrible. Shouldn't you like someone without them having to strut and preen?

"I like Dodger's fluff. Makes him stick out. You can always hear him cursing when he gets it tangled in something."

"Not bad. Tony does it better." He grinned. "And do you have to remind me of how trees are a bane to my existence?" He sighed and eyed his nephew.

Unlike his herdmate Guilian, Safi had never placed much importance in the value of strutting. For him, it was another way to make fun of all those types that took themselves seriously...up to and including Guilian. Consequently, he was laughing at himself before he'd even made it back to Dodger and Wadi's side. "Whoever this Tony is, you should trip him the next time. Nothing makes a strut perfect like seeing the strutter lose his balance and fall over."

Up to and including himself, thanks much.

Though he had to tease Wadi for siding with Dodger over him, even for a good reason. "Sure Wadi, go and throw logic into the situation and make Dodger come out ahead, that's really sweet. I see how things stand here." And he tried to pout, though that ended up failing miserably.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 23, 2007 10:13 pm

"It's too much fun watching him do it and then laughing. I'll wait until he falls on his face on his own." He shook his head and shifted slightly. He had been a long day and he should get some sleep eventually.

"Don't pout .. or try to .. i have to side with him. He's family." He grinned at his friend before he noticed his uncle shifting. He was probably tired and now that he thought about it so was he. It was getting pretty late.

"I think we should all get some sleep before all this preening goes to someone's head." Or before something stepped out of the trees and scared him half to death.

"Coward." Still, Safi was grinning as he dismissed Dodger's rationale with the airy disregard of one who simply doesn't care. "Tripping is even more entertaining, you're really missing out." Not that it mattered much to him; HE wasn't the one not tripping!

Maintaining the pout, he looked at Wadi and announced, "I'm NOT pouting...but that sounds like a good idea. The sleep part, at least, because preening is totally healthy!"

As he spoke, though, the stallion was looking around the area; the idea of sleeping among another herd was strange, but trotting off without any sleep at was just...not a good idea, at this hour. "So, where's an unoccupied corner where a random guest can curl up for the night?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 23, 2007 10:24 pm

"I think he'll trip himself up far faster than i will." He shook his head out again and trotted toward the little patch of soft grass he liked to sleep in. There was even a nice thick tree that let him get a few extra minuets here and there with the shade so long as he didn't face the way of the sunrise.

He peered around until he saw a spot not too far from his sister. "There's room over there" He pointed his nose toward the open area before looking back at his friend.

He would have to at least sleep somewhere close to Kizuka otherwise she'd huff at him come morning for being out later than her.

Chuckling after Dodger as he walked off, Safi almost missed Wadi's point; following his gaze, though, Safi looked over at the spot with approval, noting that he ought to be able to manage quite well without making anyone uncomfortable. Lord knows he'd be a bit surprised if he woke up to find a stranger sleeping by him.

So he carefully made his way over in the direnction wadi indicated, scuffing up teh grass a bit with his hooves before flopping down, extending his wings so that they draped over him like a big feathery blanket. This would do most excellantly... "My thanks, Wadi! "
