I guess I've always liked furrys, I just never realized it. Of all the older cartoons I watched, my favorite characters were always anthros, but I never thought much of it. I think right after middle school ended for me was when it started. I had begun to get really into a certain few anthro characters (not going to get specifics on who they were, but this is how I ended up picking my favorite animals) over the next 3 years. I believe that was when I started becoming a furry, though I didn't have a fursona until a bit later. I'd say that once I did have it, I finally became a fur.
I think that I still have a lot more to learn and experience about furries, because compared to a lot of others, I'm still kind of new to the fandom (Over 3 years).

I don't know how, but I became a furry due to my passion of how the antropomorphic look, act, and feel. Eventually, I stared reading and watching furry comics such as Jewel Vixen or Sabrina Online. Sometimes I wish I was really like one of them instead of a human.
I guess I said too much, but I type so fast. And it would explain why my favorite tv show during my childhood was SWAT Catz.

I've always liked anthro things. In '04, a friend of mine showed me her stuff which was really, really good (Fala), and I just wanted to draw from then on (ignor the fact that I hadn't drawn much in months =P).

I was probably a furry fan long before I new what it was. But I found out I was a furry when a friend showed me a you tube clip of people in fursuits playing DDR. I later found out at random that the name for this was furry fandom. I've been a furry for less than a year though.

I think it's easier for people to become furs now then back then.... So many years ago you didn't have so many artists or things based on furry, so you're only hope would be to have things that were accedently furry (I loved my Exon tiger tail collection I had =3).
Now, you have some games, lots of artists, different variations of furry, styles, builds, and themes. You also have people who go beyond drawing and have animations in Flash, crafters with Fursuits, and printers for great quality pictures or clothing.

well, My favorite video game was sonic the hedgehog, I always watched Animaniacs, and for the brief time it was on when i was like 6, samurai pizza cats. I then Moved on to the anime fandom and considered myself Otaku. I saw catgirls and thought they where cool. My mom's otaku as well, and has a gaia page, but thats beside the point. I always liked anthro characters, but never saw more than either what was on TV and in video games, OR, Neondragonart.com which i havent been to in years. OH, and VG Cats.
One day I was watching CSI, and saw that episode with the furrys and went "WTF People dressed up as animals humping eachother? thats worse than the crap the germans do!"
Then a year later, I was at high school (+4 Years ago) and this guy I just met at school he's awsome, He was a furry, and i freaked and he's like "HEY! i'm not one of those fur-suiting humping in a hotel furs, I'm just in it for the art and social gatherings"
so, Me, and a bunch of people at my lunch table became furrys. most of them gave up cause they didn't particularly care.
Now the guy that got us all into the fandom , is my boyfriend ^_^ (3 years ago this coming march)
Since then I have gone to anthrocon once. it was this year. I went back and looked at sonic, animaniacs, VG cats, etc, and went HOLY CRAP!. and with animaniacs, thats signifigant because Robert Paulson, the voice of Pinky, Yako, and various other characters from animaniacs, was one of the 3 guests of honor at AC this year.
and lastly, (years ago) I found furry 'art' if you can call the contents of VCL and FChan 'art' and what did I see? Sonic, VG Cats, animaniacs. and I about died. then I realized I had clicked one of the 'alternative' things, and went back to M/F/H/S/H/AH and Have been content with every aspect of the fandom ever since.
Also, we found a table-top RPG, useing D20, thats a sci-fi furry setting. I forgot what it was called though. we have like 6 of the books.
but yeah, that and 2 is awsome. actually, i'm listening to some of 2's music right now. LOL.

well...i guess it would be when i stumbled upon a guy';s work named Adam Wan. After seeing the word 'furry' thrown around my freinds and on 4chan i did a little lookign around and found some of ASdam's work. His non-pornographic stuff was breath-taking! so then i was hooked. The level of skill it takes to draw..the new characteristics and mannerisma the animal parts give a character. Its moar intresting then human work sometimes...
so yea...but this all happned recently..guess around october or november

let's see.... i was looking on Wikipedia for some werewolf fiction novels i could read, and they had a link to the Fandom page. i did a little lurking, and decided it was for me sometime last year (i think it was around february...). i've always thought anthros were groovy, especially as a kid. so it just kinda fit smile

Anything in particular? I might be able to help with certain words.
I find myself having trouble with random jargon as well, not just furry jargon though.
