Some parts at the beginning and middle were just... slow. Not a lot happening and wasn't really what I was anticipating for the epic finish to the series.

But for the rest of the book, it was great. And yes, a lot of people dying was necessary. If you read/watch some of the interviews with J.K. Rowling, she says that one of the primary themes is death (which was inspired by the death of her own mother.) And as far as death goes, she did it very well.

The very end seemed sort of... rushed. I mean, I know there wasn't much story to go on when Voldemort died, but I was just hoping for a few more secrets... or something.

Overall, great book. By no means is it the perfect book, but I'm still pretty convinced that a perfect book is impossible xp

I thought the book was pretty good. Except for the fact that she killed so many people.

I thought many more people would die....

Read it the day it came out.

I have to admit, I found the final fight scene between Voldemort and Harry a bit of a let-down. It was about a minute of talking and a single spell from each side - what kind of final duel is that?

When I see a final fight, I want edge-of-the-seat action and something to truly remember. The last fight was rather anti-climactic for me.

i agree

Although the final battle was a one-spell kind of thing, i didn't really expect anything else. i mean, HP had only been to school for seven years. if any student was to fight with tons of spells, casting and countering, it would have been Hermione instead. also, with the way the elder wand was discribed, it wouldn't have done anything to its rightful master. so a one-spell thing. (i really wanted it to be a huge magical brawl, but what can you do?)

I found the book was good but the ending went like so:

*Rowlings, deep in her study, finishing off the last pages of her multi-billion dollar franchise looks down and... le gasp! Harry is dead? With a quick trip to Staples Rowlings finds the Easy Button, pushes it and magically Harry gets to CHOOSE whether or not he dies.*

The long, agonizingly sad talk with Albus kind of wrecked it too, and I agree that Voldemort didn't really go out with as much pizzaz as befits he who must not be named. She made up for it in my opinion by adding in that really nice epilogue about their children.

Thank god for saving graces.

I thought Voldemort's death was kind of a let down after all the build up of how difficult he was to kill and after reading it was like "Is that it?". Apart from that though it was a really good book for such an amazing series!

I think Sir VColdy's death was a bit of a ler-down too. Al that build-up, and then he's just ... dead? I had to re-read that part several times.

But Snape ... the last book made me love Snape, a task I thought impossible. I was never really quite sure he was actually evil, be I didn't like him either. But now ... *sniffles*. I actually wrote a little fanfic thing about him. Again, something I thought I'd never do. sweatdrop

As to the epilogue... It sounded like badly written fanfic to me. Honestly, I've read end-of-HP fanfic I liked better. I mean, if she was going to do an epilogue ... it shouldn't have jumped to "everyone's happy and having babies and the world is all fine now". Also, I thought the last word of the last book was supposed to be "scar"?

Well I loved this book! It is my second favorite ^^

I did really like the fact that she did kill of so many people, it is a war and in wars, people die... many people die in wars.

I really like the last chapters, they were my favorite especially the forest again and Princes Tale but I did not like the last chapter or the epilogue.

In the Forest, again I did cry so much... I thought Harry was going to die and I could not bear to read it, because I was almost saying goodbye to a friend of mine and I cried for minutes and it took my so long to read that chapter and the prince tale was amazing, sad and beautiful at the same time. Brilliant plot there from J.K.

I really loved about this book was the feeling, I got so much motional and I felt like I was in the book, as if I was a part of it... I think it was very well written and very goods plots in it and J.K can be proud of it, I like writers some can just kill of their characters like that...

Sure, I was not happy about some deaths and maybe their where not necessary but... It is J.K's story and she can do what she wants with it.

However, the thing some I hated about the book was that bloody epilogue... I hated it, I read it 4000 times just to be sure that i did not miss anything or if Luna had appeared somewhere but she did not. I wanted to know more about the other people... not just the trio.

But apart form that it was really good...
