I read the ending first. I always do that when I read a book.

Finished. -.- Nine AM this morning. Read it through the night...

And I don't even like Harry Potter.

I can tell you everything you need to know. cool
As long as you get it out of me quick, before I forget.

I had to re-read Harry's speech in that last battle about three times before I made any sense of it. I was all 'Draco- what- huh-?'.

HE'S IN LOVE WITH DRACO? Oh the fangirls were right!

But why and when did Snape kill Dumbledore?

o_o Err...I never said that.

Well if you must know, highlight below:

Dumbledore asked him to. He'd put on a cursed ring (his main fault turned out to be that he had a weakness for power) and was going to die within the year, so asked Snape (who was a double agent, ultimately on Dumbledore's side the entire time) to kill him, as part of a clever little bit of subterfuge to trick Voldemort into...not punishing Draco, I think was the main point. Plus Dumbledore wanted a death of his own choosing.

-.- I wouldn't bother.

The first three are exceptionally childish, being written for younger teenagers; the fourth is kinda boring; the fifth irritating and confusing because my favourite character dies, and there's a horrible, horrible character in it; the sixth I can't remember, but that must've been confusing too, and the seventh one is good, but with the most irritating epilogue.

And to whoever said she rushed the ending, that could not have been drawn out anymore and still have had that vaguely realistic sense the rest of the book carried. I congratulate her on this one, mostly because the characters actually had real emotions and weren't superhuman. And trust me, that's harder to do in writing than one would think.

And as for the ending, can you really imagine a magical siege like that lasting for long? And in the second siege they had more reinforcements, less enemies and brilliant morale. Hence, better.
And that last duel? You cannot say that was rushed. Granted, the manner of Voldemort's death was rather abrupt, but she said herself, that he 'hit the floor with mundane finality'. It was supposed to be like that. He was barely human anymore, and he had very little power left, practically none over those in the room...

Hmm...
Either way. Unless I find a new series to read once I finish this one I will need a new one.

I hear Twilight is a good novel. Or at least among my female friends.
Any recommends?

Pagan series (Pagan's Crusade, Pagan in Exile, Pagan's Vows and Pagan's Scribe) by Catherine Jinks.
Best series I've ever read.

And if you haven't read them, the Alice books by Carroll. And if you have, The Looking Glass Wars. It's not brilliant, but I think it's worth reading.

Otherwise, Paolini's Inheritance series (Eragon, Eldest) is quite good. He takes a lot of inspiration from Tolkien for his writing style, but it's much more readable and a slightly less complicated story.
And Garth Nix's Abhorsen series (Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen), though they're for a lower age group, generally (it's been a while since I read them).

-Scans bookshelves.- You'd probably like Douglas Adams as well, if you haven't already read his books.

~starts writing stuff down~
Douglas Adams?
Sounds familiar.
Go on?

And how do you know I would probably like them? xD
Do you already know the inner workings of my mind?

Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy and its sequels, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and its sequal The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul and The Meaning of Liff and The Deeper Meaning of Liff. Mostly the first. I haven't read the others. Although the last in the HGttG series is really boring...

Because I'm generally good at predicting what type of books and music people like. Plus, you seem the type who'd like amusing sci-fi. -.-

I'll tell you what Fry and Laurie's books are like after I've finished them. If you like conspiracy with guns, motorcycles and dark humour, then The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie.

Oh, Mark Haddon's good too, if you like realistic-type stuff.

Oh, you bibliophiles. I just read nonfiction stuffs from ze Interwebs.

Iko should recommend me some books, too. Frankly, I don't know myself, but I can say that I like weird and random stuff like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I refer you back to the list I wrote for Jack. Particularly the Alice books. And the Pagan series. It's historical fiction with a prominent edge of humour.

And add Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time (about a boy with Autism) and A Spot of Bother (sad, and yet hilarious at times; about a family who are having difficulty, each of them different). Both are rather spontaneous.

I'm sure that someone else on Gaia has mentioned The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time to me before. Maybe I should read that too... if I have time.
