Storm Slayer Entirely in the realm of randomness: -- I'll bet that if you flipped the U.S. upside-down, you'd find a tag that reads "Made in China." So true

Having been invited to the most pretentiously titled guild on Gaia, I wonder if I should tell them about my facetiousness habit, my rampant devil's advocacy, and my inability to take anything seriously.
I mean, they do have a "no lying" policy, although I think that may refer to rumors rather than cheery sarcasm regarding the nature of gravitation.
It would be saddening if they truly don't tolerate lies, since my life is built around lies and deception.
Which is not to imply that anything I say here in this guild is false, but this guild is actually about mathematics and science, and seriously at that; they seem a bit looser subject-wise and quite a bit more arrogant, and thus I feel an obligation to make fun of them.

What's the name of this guild? I keep getting periodically invited and kicked out of a guild called "Synamic Darkness". Hilarity all round.

"The Brilliant Minds of Gaia" although their banner still says "The Ultimate Guild" All I've done there so far is complain about spelling errors and infodump about projective spaces. I'm just thinking back to that "what is the thing" thread in the S&T and that story I made up about the unidentified mass floating forty thousand lightyears away. I felt kinda bad about that afterwards because I was abusing my reputation, but still, it was fun.

Layra-chan "Hey babe, can I get your curvilinear coordinates, because you definitely orient my manifold." Orient is a quadruple innuendo, at least for certain people, and that makes me very happy. If someone actually said this to me with a straight face, I'd probably go out with him. Is that 4 possible meanings of orient in that context, and one of manifold, or 4 possible meanings of orient and manifold in that context? If the latter, and I'm allowed to use some creative licence, I can get beyond merely a quadruple entendre. If the former, finding four may take some work.

Dave the lost Layra-chan "Hey babe, can I get your curvilinear coordinates, because you definitely orient my manifold." If the latter, and I'm allowed to use some creative licence, I can get beyond merely a quadruple entendre. If the former, finding four may take some work. Specifically orient as a word, not necessarily mathematical, and it only applies to a very small portion of the population. Well, two of them are fairly general in application (although one of them is terribly nerdy), but one of the others is the obvious mathematical pun, and the last one would make a lot more sense if you knew me in real life.

I feel like such a nerd right now, because this just makes so much sense to me. Even though it lets in so many other people, it's still enough just to be able to meet, to be able to touch each other.

Too bad the girl that I have feelings for really isn't into math . . . I could show it to her . . . Ah well sweatdrop Cool though. Random thought: What would a meteor shower look like from the other side of the atmosphere?

Was it wrong of me to sneakily bump a two years-old thread about 0.999… to the top of ED:S&T just because I wanted to see the carnage again?

You can post and then delete your post to bring back a thread. The only mark left is before the next person posts the deleted post is the one in the "last post" information bit.
… I was bored.

We should bump ALL the old 0.999... threads to the front page. I bet we could fill it.
