"I'd say yes, but sadly the words are not mine." He shook his head with a chuckle, "I've no gift for such beauty, but I do love the sound of it and watching how it applies to the world about us. That was a poem passed to me from a bird, whom learned it from his mother and she her father, and thus on down the path until its creator has been lost to the vestiges of time. Yet, the words live on and in such is an accomplishment like no other."
He watched her sit, a strange feat for a bovine, with a raised brow. His relaxation never faltered, though, for he knew they were not watched or even noted by the other creatures wandering through the night. Save, perhaps, the insects that would always plague their kind. He flicked his ear at one such parasite, "I've heard tale of a rabbit, yes, but of other things to. Most can't agree what is up there, though they all say there is something. I wonder though..."
Trailing of, Nyota shook his head as a chuckle rumbled through his chest. "Do they truly? I had thought I caught a glance but I wasn't certain. Perhaps they will influence our tenure here."

The smirk grew; the birds she'd met were wise. She'd always liked them. The idea of flying had always enthralled her; not only that, but she'd once, long ago, met a bird that would sit upon her back as she graced within a herd. Long ago, whens he'd been a part of a herd, at any rate; that bird had saved her life more than once. They were fascinating, but then again, she found most creatures to be, either way, "Fascinating," the word was not used to mock him in the least, that much was obvious, specially as she raised a front hoof and waved it before her, almost as if physically dismissing a thought, "I find many things to be fascinating, but... there is nothing as fascinating as the unpredictable; when things happen that one has no way of understanding, or predicting. The unconventional..."
A pause followed her words as she lowered her hoof and seemed to think, her eyes once more trailing the tranquil water; they were too shallow for crocodile, yet the pool was large enough to offer a light refreshment in the summer heat. She liked it there.
"It's unpredictable; what's up there," her eyes turned towards him then, and she had the audacity of winking, "That's why no one can agree, but then again, that's what makes it all the more interesting. It's magic," she made a show of moving her head as she said the word 'magic', then nodded, almost as if to herself, "I don't know if they do, really, however..." she seemed to pause, her eyes rolling up in thought, her hoof raising to tap her mouth ever so slightly, "It's a hunch; my instincts have never failed me. Yet. Proof enough is the fact I'm here, talking to you; a glance can mean a lot, and it might not mean much at the same time. She's not like others; she's ..." a smile as she trailed off, a chuckle rumbling her chest, the thick pelt that aligned it, rippling with the movement, "Unpredictable."
That was probably what had attracted her to Tsi'hilu in the first place, "Then again... so am I," again she moved her head, dismissing a though before she smirked at the male, "Thing is, when those eyes looked up, yours did not turn away, that I saw; and thankfully... I am not yet turning blind. And even when I do..." gazing off towards the moon, she continued, "Magic will live on."

"Blind, no, nor do I think it would ever stop one such as yourself. Magic tends to have a way of preserving itself, even in this ever changing world of ours," Nyota considered this as he spoke, words low and soft as a summer's breeze. He whetted one paw with his tongue, cleaning it of nonexistant dirt as any cat is wont when they feel the need to be occupied. One could never, after all, be too clean.
Eventually, his thoughts seemed to settle, which was helped in its course by a glance up at the inky darkness they had been speaking of moments ago. Was this Buck correct in her suspicions? Truly there was something about the white female of whom they spoke that was different than any other he'd encountered, pale in countenance or otherwise. That was a factor in it, he knew, for the lightness of her coat was something he had always found attractive, but he thought it to be more than a mere physical need. Indeed, he was certain of it for he'd never refrained before in wooing those he was attracted to. Something about her eyes stopped him, or perhaps it was less romantic than that. Her speech, her presence, her simple way of being that was, in a word, zen. Yes, that was it.
There was no denying an attraction for him towards that young female he had met in these lands moons ago, but he did wonder at the thoughts she kept hidden behind those eyes. Perhaps, then, they would stay that he might know her mind on the issue. Nodding to himself, Nyota's paw settled once more on the ground.
"We may yet stay," He finally answered the question long since posed. "There are many things in this land I would like to see made more.. predictable." He chuckled, a low reverberating sound that bounced off the stream before them and into the night air. "Many things, indeed. Not the least of which being how long magic may match myself."
He winked, a challenge, but not one of physical prowess. She might think it whatever she wished, however, as Nyota stood to retreat back to his daughter's side. "You were well met, Mistress Magic."

As the male stood, so did the buck, turning her head to look at his retreating form over her shoulder, "The unpredictable can be made predictable over time, with study... and time," there was a smirk upon her lips that was more deserving of a predator than a prey beast, however, Taika was unconventional, and had picked up body language from the felines herself as she strolled by Tsi'hilu's side. She liked to think it just added to her natural charm (or lack there off, if male water bucks were considered - they usually thought her to be a hazard to be around).
Chuckles followed him, "This magic is everlasting, and will never die," it might be a challenge right back at him, however, for whatever reason, she suddenly turned her head to look away from Nyota and towards the waters of the waterhole ahead. She knew that she was giving him an opening to attack, that he could have used; felines were fast creatures, and if they wished they could attack at lightning speed. Taika, however, was rather relaxed as she stood with her back to the large male, then after a few moments, she slowly moved her frame towards the waters, stepping in till the water reached her flanks. She stood in the middle of the of the moon that was still neatly reflected upon the slightly murky waters and looked up to the sky, "Alas, what's done..." her eyes closed as she allowed her ears to flop back, the winds playing with the mane around her neck, "Is done."
~ - ~ - ~
Tsi'hilu had no way of knowing just what exactly it was that had roused her up from her slumber, however... the lioness suddenly lifted her head from her paws, her large green eyes almost luminescent as she took in her surroundings. Misae had pressed up against her side, seeking her heat after Nyota had left, both their snow white coats merging the one against the other; from a distance they stood out as a white spec against a dark background.
Lowering her head, the female allowed her tongue to slip out of her maw, licking the younger female's head, careful not to wake her up. Most would have considered this sign of affection for a stranger quite strange indeed, however, Tsi'hilu never considered it to be strange at all. In fact, she'd acted even before she'd thought it fully out; somewhere in the back of her mind, a voice told her that it was because she'd been alone for so long. Physical contact was strange to her, yet due to her whole life having been spent alone... it made her more blunt than others would be. Innocent, yes, but also extremely blunt; she lived each day without regrets, and acted out of her heart. There was no telling if she'd ever be able to do something again... if someone were to leave, or if something would cause her to leave.
Thus was why whenever she wanted to do something, she tried to do it. She was forward with her thoughts, ideals and feelings, even if she did not truly understand them. She'd never really even given her grooming Nyota a second's thought after she'd done it; she'd simply been compelled to do so, and that was enough for her.
A small white paw was placed upon the now snoring youth, her eyes looking down upon her with a smile; how many times had she wished she could have slept curled up with someone, while she'd been alone? Her parents were long gone, and so was her brother; she had no blood family. Those days as a cub, short times ... were gone too. She barely even remembered them. Looking back, Tsi'hilu.... could only remember that they'd never even truly been a real family. The wolf clan had never been at utter peace. Her parents had glared and snapped at each other regularly. Her mother would always look sad; the only time her eyes would light up was when her small cloud touched daughter would show up. Her brother had always seeked their mother's attention, and never once had he gotten it... and she was sure her father had not been happy either.
Now, it was much better. She did not regret the past nor what had happened... however, there was still a small part of her that still wished and longed for her family. She was secretly glad this youth that was so obliviously sleeping away the night, had someone, unlike she'd had, "You're quite lucky," she whispered to the sleeping form, pressing her forehead against the smaller female's neck, "I wish I'd had your luck when I was young; I hope you use that luck well... luck is a blessing," They were deep words, for someone that was usually so straightforward and naturally simplistic in the way she talked, but it didn't seem to matter to her.
Slowly then, she lifted her head and in the darkness, she meet intense green eyes. If she felt surprised to notice he'd suddenly come back and had possibly been standing there watching her as she'd groomed Misae and talked to her, she showed it not. Instead, the female blinked once and then offered him and honest smile, that told him without need of words that she was glad to have him back.

"Lucky, I suppose, if you believe in so fickle a thing." Nyota replied softly. His daughter slept like a rock when she was in a 'familiar' place. While they'd not been in these lands very long, the father and company about her were familiar enough to keep Misae enthralled in a long sleep. Beyond that, there were few things that would mess with a lion, sleeping or otherwise. Nyota saw no reason to break her of the habit; instead, he let himself settle against her again, shoulder to Tsi's as his stomach cupped the back of his daughter that the white lioness hadn't already. It would have been easy, he chuckled as he thought, for another to assume Misae their daughter. Green from his line--indeed, her markings nearly matched--and white from her mother... with her eyes closed, it was a perfect mix.
Odd, however, that he had even thought it.
He shook his mane, an idle gesture, and made himself more comfortable against the grass. "I would not yet count yourself so lacking in such things, however," he ventured, staring off across the landscape. "Hardship is fertile soil for virtue. However, I have little room to speak of things, not having been in such a situation myself."
The male turned to look at her then, nose near to nose with the female. To look her in the eye would have been a most unforgivable sin with someone he respected, and so he looked elsewhere; the pouch she carried to the tuft of her hair, the tattoos] down the length of her back to the tail that thumped idly in the grass. [b"And virtue is what is what I am so blessed to find here before me; as pure as the pelt she carries, but with marks run deep into the blood. There is no shame in that."

"Fickle things..." her gaze turned to the stars, still shinning through the branches that hung over them; they'd provided a shelter against the evening sun, and were, in turn, now providing shelter against the night sky, "There are things as fickle as luck, and love, that I believe in," turning to him, she smiled, adjusting her position only slightly to allow him better access to his daughter, whom had shifted in her sleep to curl up tighter against the male's body. Tsi'hilu had no doubt the young one instantly recognised the familiar scent, even if subconsciously.
As he spoke, the female's head turned to meet him, almost nose to nose, her eyes blinking, once, twice before she smiled, "This is true, however..." brows knitted together as she reached this point, however, only briefly, "There were times it was lonely," a pause followed, during which the sadness seemed to vanish entirely, replaced again by the soft smile that adorned her maw most of the time, "I believe that time was a preparation for now; had I not spent that time... I would not be here now, and I would not be talking freely," in fact, the small lioness was quite convinced she'd have grown up to be completely mute; had she not been lost so long, separated from others, she'd have never worked up her resolve to learn to understand others, and to communicate with them.
She faltered at lot in her habits, and her ways were not exactly refined by the rules of the society she lived in; that much was clearly visible by the way she was gazing directly into Nyota's eyes, her head tilting to one side was she watched him look everywhere about her form except her eyes. She wondered why he did that; the question rung silently in her eyes as she regarded him, "I carry no shame; I tried, and lived through it. I followed the resolve to talk when I was drowned in my own silent sea," she smiled again, her eyes closing briefly, only to reopen, "I bear no shame," she seemed to have missed the compliment for what it was, and instead she merely paused, "Do my eyes displease you?" it was such a direct question, it might've startled the other, but Tsi'hilu never thought of it in such a way; there was innocence ringing in her words, as if she simply did not know any better, "You don't look into them..." there was, perhaps, a hint of sadness, almost as if she were asking him to do just that; in fact, she wished to see into his eyes.
Someone had told her long ago, whilst she was a cub, locked away from others by her own inability to talk, that the eyes were the window of the soul, "Is it because your soul is there?"

Nyota's brows raised at the strange question. Strange, at least, for any of feline blood. Indeed, he'd never heard of a cat who did not feel this way about such a gesture; "Perhaps it is that, for I have heard many who claim eyes to be windows into the soul.. Indeed, it might be the reason for the way that most of us act in regards to this..."
For a moment, Nyota fell silent, collecting his thoughts. He met her eyes, then, with his own green, but they slid away once more. "There are few cats that will gaze into another's eyes steadily. Indeed, few that see doing so as anything more than disrespect or a challenge. I find, no matter how beautiful the sight may be, it is something even I cannot train myself to."
The wind whispered about them, ruffling through his fur and hers. "Though I could compose poems for the colour I know yours to be."

Throughout the explanation, the female's features softened, if possible, "I like your poems," the way her mind worked was slightly strange; it seemed to jump from theme to theme, however, there was logic to her thoughts. She'd received an answer and had sensed his inability to continue forward. Instead of taking ofense from his words, she'd accepted them for what they were; words.
Words were just words. Actions rung out stronger than words; though she'd learnt to use them, she'd found body language to be more important, and right now it was telling her that despite his soft words, he was slightly restless about the topic at hand. It was then she acted mostly upon instinct than anything; her smile vanished as she slowly stood up, walked around Misae's sleeping form and curled up beside the male, her head reaching up to groom his mane where the wind was ruffling it, "You need not force yourself to like them, or look at them; thank you for letting me see into them for a moment," her words came slightly muffled as she worked away at his pelt and mane.
Once satisfied, she pulled her head away to look at her work, then up at him, satisfied with looking at his eyes, even if he did not, "I guess it's safe to say I'm not like others in that regard then," her eyes sliding away from him, though her head did not move, "The elders probably find me slightly disrespectful... I rarely talk to others," she paused her words then and seemed to ponder, "I find talking to you and Taika easy thought."
Finally turning her head to look away, her body pressed slightly closer to him as she lowered herself down, shifting so her head was placed over Misae's body, "It's strange..." turning to gaze at him even in such a position, she smiled, "I do not mind though; I like you. I think your eyes are pretty. Like the new born leaves in the trees that Taika loves so much. Maybe there's a tree in your eyes."

"And maybe there is poetry in Silence," Nyota chuckled softly. A part of him, somewhere deep inside seemed to have melted, though he didn't know it now. it wouldn't be for many days later that he would realize that this was the true moment in which something had begun; something... grand.
The male looked down at the daughter between them, and smiled for the little group that they made. Lowering his maw he lapped loosely at her ears, smoothing the fur, then put his cheek to Tsi's. Without another word about it, he closed his eyes again to lose himself once more to sleep--they would need it come breakfast.
