Dream of the Infnite Beauty Lexie paused as the 'hard' look came into Remi's eyes. The look in her own almost matching worry. She didn't let it show, though. She barely knew this guy after all. She sighed softly as she looked around. She was listening, but her eyes wandered. This school was nice. Very clean, very proper. She figured the dress code would probably not match her style. As her feet traveled along the carpet she looked back up, following his words.
"I'm sorry about your parents. I know how that can be. My parents are worried about my..." She paused. She knew she could tell this stranger anything about her 'abilities', but there was really no other way to explain it. She thought for a moment. A million lame excuses came into her mind. None of them worked. She finally just settled on the next thing that came to her. "They're worried about some issues I have. It's really nothing at all, but they treat me like it's a disability. They always try to keep me inside. Keep me hidden. I don't go home most of the time. I just go to eat and sleep. I love my parents but I hate the way they baby me..." She stopped for a moment, looking down. Her hair gently fell over her shoulders, but she didn't seem to notice this time.
Finally, as she came out of her trance, she realized he had asked her a question. She re-tucked her hair and faced him.
"Yea...well, sort of. We used to live up in the city. My parents finally decided that it 'was time for a change.' They say they wanted to move somewhere quieter to settle down for retirement. My mom's only twenty six and my dad's thirty. They're not even close." She sighed and looked down again. "The real reason is because they think the air is unhealthy for me. I overheard them talking to the doctor. It's not though. I miss the fire of it. The excitement. They have no idea it's really just making everything worse."

Remi listened with a half-nod, thinking of other things while she spoke. When she mentioned... a disability... many things came to mind as he watched her with curiousity. Many girls int hese modern days always seemed to be depressed or moody about one thing or another. There was the boyfriend issues always, maybe the home problems, the laziness for school, popularity issues and everything else. Girls seemed to go into social classes, and although boys did as well, it was as bad. Girls would fight and gossip forever. Boys would beat 'em once and usually be done with it. Then there was the idea of her being unstable. But he crossed that out, since it didn't seem likely. He looked up at the ceiling as she went on, tyring to figure it out. But, with such a passive mind, he let it go when she finished. "So... they pretty much want to shelter you, then?" He couldn't help but grimace. if his parents even got the idea of sheltering him he would flip. Just the plain thoguht of being constantly watched, hovered around, worried about, looked down upon... it almost made him feel sorry for the girl.
"Well, I have to agree on parents. I don't even see why adults will be married if they don't get along, are too young for one another, or anything else. My parents barely see each other. Being tied to one person, when you didn't even talk to each other..." he looked off into the distance as they edged the end of the hall, stopping in mid-thought. The same things ran through his head.
It was still confinement.
But, forgetting the odd subjects, he grinned at Lexie playfully, "But hey, what are adults to control your life? Let your spirit fly, do what you want to do! Confinement is torture. Their thoughts are torture. You need to live and disobey, Lexie. I couldn't live if I my parents were like that!" he couldn't help but laugh aloud, the cheerful thought of even the freedom creeping into his veins. How he longed to just transform and show the world what he was. But he just couldn't do it; an Anka was too large. The government would probably claim him a monster and shoot him out of the sky. Remi put his free hand on his hip, looking at lexie again. "Okay, maybe you shouldn't listen to me. I'm a bad influence."

With the Wings of an Angel... Taking in a deep breath as he sauntered his way down the the street with the mid-day sun beating down upon his neck, his confident smile seemed to stunt the sun's presence. Alarac's hands were slightly stuck into his pant pockets, leaving his thumbs at which rested against the belt loops of his pants. As he passed the Borders book story he turned his head and looked in raising one hand to block the sun from the glass, after a short look he sticks his hand back into his pocket and begins walking towards the school again.
Turning the last corner to the school Alarac begins slow his pace, moving at a snails pace he slowly parades himself to the heavy 2 pang glass lattice door, he reaches up and grabs the handle pulling the door open quietly, then slips in. Creeping his way slowly down the hallway he heads towards the library tip toeing ever so lightly. He stops to peer around a corner, double checks both directions and begins his trek down the home stretch.
" Almost there... "
Under his breath, he licks his lips. He stops again to look inside the library for the librarian, he spots her standing behind the check out counter logging some books in facing away from him, Alarac makes a run for the back of the library were nobody ever goes, on his down an isle he looks back to see if anyone has seen him, clipping a pile of books on the floor throws him off balance and he stumbles to the ground, but quickly gets up acting as if nothing happen. He brushes himself off and then walks around a maze of book cases that lead to a table deep in the rear of the library.
" Home sweet home. "
He says to himself, He takes a chair that was leaned up against a book case and pulls it up to the table and put his book bag on the table, slipped a large heavy bound book from his bag and raised it to his chin, slid his legs forward and leaned back in his chair.

Dream of the Infinite Beauty Lexie giggled a little. "My parents still love me. They have their reasons. None of which I agree with, but I won't judge them so easily. I Don't normally do that...I didn't judge you when you were so rude and look where we are now." She laughed again. She was joking, of course. She winced when he spoke of 'letting her spirit fly' though. If only he had any idea.
She shook off the thought. "Don't talk so badly about yourself. You're not a bad influence at all. Well, from what I know of you. Besides I've met some extremely bad people throughout my life and you don't come close to a single one of them. You want to know a bad influence? Go back to my old school up in the city." She stopped in her tracks, and shivered as a memory she thought was lost reappeared. At one point in her life, she had broken up with a boyfriend of about three or four months. He had pulled a gun on her the next day. Shot her arm. Luckily some of her best guy friends stepped in and stopped him. She had nightmares every night after that of what might have happened if they weren't there. A faint smile came across her face though, as she thought about her friends. If only they could be here with her, seeing her this happy. She turned to Remi with a warm smile.
"Thank you...Thank you so much."

Sariel’s smooth features slowly came to life, his long and dark eyelashes fluttering, and his eyes slowly sliding open in the light of the warm sun. The smell of breakfast seemed to fill his small room, but after a moment it was gone, just another memory. Slowly he lifted himself out of bed to get dressed, his clothing unusually light today; shades of blues and greens creeping in where normally there would be grays and crèmes… His feet carried him quickly down the stairs and away from his small worn house, his boots thudding softly as he went; already his eyes were turning the obsidian shade of his wolf side. It was going to be one hell of a long day.
As he walked he looked around the small town for the first time, walking past bookstores and cafes, a library. Maybe this place was better then he had first thought, even if the people he was living with were less then satisfactory. After a moment he quickened his pace, his spirit begging to be let free before being confined for another year, this surely was the definition of torture. The shift was small, unnoticeable with the exception of his lupine eyes, and his somehow advanced speed. School was close to home anyway, it was just a short little run right?
The building had come quicker then Sariel had hoped for and he slowed back into his normal sauntering step, his eyes still easily betraying him for the creature within. His feet carried him up the steps and into the cool shade of the inside, a small sigh of relief pressing through his lips now that the sun was done beating on his back; this town was far too hot compared to the snowy wonderland he was used to. Slowly he made his way down the hall, searching for somebody to talk to, somebody that might be of interest to him for the few minutes before classes started.

Fae picked up the newcomer with his nose first. He'd always had a very sharp nose, for one reason or another, and he had learned to stop second-guessing it. His greyish purple eyes slid up from the book they had been staring at, and he gazed down the hallway in the direction he was sure the other would come without moving his head.
Fae was wearing his standard black. Black t-shirt (today with red wings on the back), black jeans and, for the moment, bare feet. He was perched atop the lockers in the corner of the hallway, reading a book on neurology and the teenage mind. Such topics might be considered boring by many, it was true, but books were the only place he was getting an education nowadays. He already understood everything they would learn in math for the next year and a half, having looked over the book this summer before ordering next years as well, had already read every book they'd assigned in English, already understood the joke they called "chemistry" here... And so Fae read, usually from books he ordered online, like this one. But Fae did not want to be noticed just yet, and thus, he wouldn't be - not that he knew of it. It was subconscious magic at work for him.
The boy he saw emerge looked a little older than he did, though that had never stopped him before. Fae took special note of the others' eyes, which appeared to be a little bit... off. Off, but in a very interesting way. Fae reached up to touch his own; he'd had to learn to stop them from changing colour all the time, of which the most popular colour had been a pale yellow. And now, in walked this new kid with eyes like his had once favoured. That's certainly new, Fae thought, peering curiously down at the other. He elected to speak with him, in the hopes he wasn't as dull as most of the kids around here. Fae slid easily off of the lockers, landing altogether too lightly for his size and weight, and turned his head to look at the older boy.
"You're new, aren't you," Fae said. It wasn't a question, it was a statement. The dark-haired boy was sure he would have noticed this one before. Even if he didn't socialise with the majority of the people around, that didn't mean he failed to keep tabs on them. Fae knew who everyone in this town was, and a bit about them besides. It had been his passtime his first year, learning about people. But this one? This one was new. New, and potentially interesting. That didn't happen very often.

Sariel walked past the library, past the front office, the scent of lavender and roses coming from on of the girls a little farther down the hall. How much easier it would be if they didn't try to smell so good. A small smirk graced his cherubic lips, his lupine eyes watching the girls as if they were a pack of lambs. There was a soft thud behind him and Sariel turned quickly the sudden noise provoking the creature inside, his eyes leaping automatically back to obsidian; his breath coming hard from between his lips producing a low snarl. Once he collected himself he looked the boy over, the purplish color of his eyes immediately catching his attention and prompting his back to the serene yellow they had been but moments before.
With a small almost apologetic smile he held his hand out to the boy, hoping above anything else the boy wouldn't mention, and didn't notice the shift in his eyes.
"Sorry about that, can’t be too careful. Yes... I am new here... Are you?"
It sounded awkward coming from his lips, warmer sounding, as if he were caught off guard merely by the boy’s presence; this creature was pleasing to the eyes, his scent light and not nearly as overpowering as others. Quickly he straightened himself, his tall frame seeming to fill more space then it had before. First impressions were often times everything, and in a new school all one had was a collection of firsts.
There was something oddly devilish in the glimmer of this boy’s eyes, something playful, as if he too had something else waiting on the inside...

Remi eyed Lexie curiously as she suddenly froze, as if lost in thought. Reminiscing, but with an icy feel to it. He tilted his head to the side curiously, wanting to step forward and say something, but she seemed out of it as quick as in, thanking him. For a moment, as her words rushed through his head, he didn't know what to say--- no one ever thanked him for anything. Thanking him for what, he has to think? Was it because she was new and needed a friend? Remi really wasn't good at this. And then a much more depressing thought came into him. Once my friends are here, and.. if they see me with a new girl... they're definitely going to do something about it. Whether it was tease her, make fun of her, Ag her on sexually or something else he couldn't' imagine... Remi wasn't too sure of. But they were a bunch of rascals as he could be. Yet, with Lexie being new, she didn't deserve any of that. On the first day of school, he had definitely chose the wrong girl to flirt with.
Fixing his posture, Remi stood straight and adjusted his backpack on his shoulder again, looking around in fear for a moment. it was his turn to suddenly look worried, as if his friends would walk into the hallway at any moment. But since some rode the buses, others had their cars, and even rode their bikes, they could be anywhere at anytime. And they would see him. With Lexie. With a sigh, he looked a Lexie with a somewhat crooked smile, "Well, I'm... not sure what you're thanking me for. But... it won't do any good for the future." He wasn't even sure why he was going to say this to her. he barely knew her. But... she was different than any other girls he had met at this school. At any school. Even after being a complete jerk, she switched it around and decided to be friends. She talked with him... like a normal person. All the other girls at school wee either too easy won over by charm or too insecure to speak. Maybe they were just complete whores, which Remi didn't really like, as much as it seemed on the outside. Why was she so different? Maybe it's the city girl in her.
"What I meant to say is... you see... my friends... if they see you with me, they're going to make your school life pretty bad. You shouldn't go jumping into thanks or anything yet." He tried to keep a nice warm smile, but now he felt nervous. The clock was up on the wall to the right; the buses would be arriving in exactly twelve minutes. Talking passes the time. "But hey! Don't think I want to push you away or anything. I just don't want anyone to give you a hard time and all." And just then, a group of three girls walked by, giggling as they saw Remi and wanting to talk with him. One was blushing furiously, and Remi only guessed what that meant. He had once dated the middle one for... two days, so she was glaring. But the one on the side, which was a girl he'd never met before, watched him curiously with a smile.
That was until all of them at once saw Lexie. For a moment, the blushing girl stopped, furious at how, on the first day of school, another girl was already talking to him. The middle girl tried to get her to snap out of it, whispering how cruel Remi was to her once and he would do the same to her. Which was the truth, actually. Remi couldn't help but smirk to himself. Then there was he last girl... who stared at Remi and Lexie with pure jealousy. The she brightened up, giving her most cutest smile, brushing his shoulder as the three of them began walking down the hallway again. She did it just like Lexie, but they meant nothing; the gossiper, the ex-girlfriend, and the shy one who liked him. There was always a few every year. But they meant nothing.
Remi looked at Lexie with another one of those flirtatious, playful grins. "Looks like the wickeds already think they have competition!" he couldn't help but laugh at how stupid the girl world could be. He didn't understand it... just laughed at it.

The other's reaction seemed curious to Fae as well. Especially the snarl... It rather reminded him of Lonan, truth be told. His older brother had often done the same thing when surprised, though Faelan sensed that the similarity between the two ended there. It fascinated him also that the boy's eyes lept from yellow to black and back, as though he had not yet learned to control their changes himself. Perhaps he hasn't. Hmm... the black haired boy thought, cocking his head ever so slightly to the side. He was sure it wasn't a "trick of the light" or some other such bullshit. Fae was fully aware of the fact that there was more in this world than most would have him believe.
Fae took the boy's hand in his own delicate-yet-firm grip, shaking lightly before parting. "I suppose one might call me new in a place where everyone seems to have lived here for generations," Fae said softly, as though musing. His purplish eyes slid to meet the boy's now-pale-yellow ones. "I moved here two years ago," he added, clarifying with just a hint of mischief in his voice. Fae certainly noted the way his new acquaintance drew himself up to fill the space and wondered if he felt as though he needed to prove himself.
Further interesting, the dark-haired boy thought, noting mostly the method. It was seldom that any of the people around him caught Fae's attention, so this boy was a welcome change of pace. Someone interesting who wouldn't, it seemed, talk his ear off. Fae had a very good track record for spotting, and ignoring, talkers. They were almost always irritating, simply in love with the sound of their own voices. But this one? Mmm... What the hell. We'll see.
"My name is Faelan. Just Fae, for short," the younger man continued, regarding the other with clear calm interest. This boy was certainly not all he seemed - no normal person's eyes changed colour like that. Faelan knew, because he had researched it after noticing his own eyes shifting colour. He wondered if this newcomer only had the two colours, or if he had a full spectrum, as Fae did.
Fae found himself looking forward to finding out. It was the first time he was genuinely interested in someone he'd met since he arrived here...

Dream of the Infinite Beauty As he spoke, Lexie gave him a confused look. What was he saying? Was he not accepting her friendship, after all she had said to him? She wasn't one to open up easily but she had trusted him. As she suppressed the urge to slap him, making sure it didn't show on her features. As he continued, her face softened.
The three girls passed, interrupting her thoughts, and what she was going to say. She turned her head away from them, only after glaring at the three. She was indeed a city girl, and no one would get away with messing with her. They never did. "They can compete all they want. If it gets to the point of fighting...I know I'll win." She put on a cocky smirk and laughed a little. "The neighborhood where I grew up was all boys, and me. I can put up a damn good fight if it comes to it."
After a short pause, she shook her head, remembering their previous conversation."You know, I didn't think of you as the type who would let his friends control him. At first, you seemed much more carefree than that. Oh well, I suppose I was wrong." She smiled, the tone in her voice making her words more of a challenge. Reverse psychology was one of her specialties. She stepped in front of him, leaning forward a bit and speaking in a low voice. "They own you, don't they? You let your friends take control." She was awfully close now...she knew it. Her heart was racing, but she didn't let it show. There was something about this guy. Something different. Something she liked. He was hiding something, just as she was...and she could feel it. She spoke two simple words before moving away, her voice a mere whisper now, thinking back to when he told her to 'let her spirit fly'. There was something about that sentence that told her this would get to him. "Break free."

"I Don't let them control me..." Remi murmured, wanting to say it much louder but Lexi continued to speak, continued to grow ever closer. At first he backed away, as if her personality, the air about her, just who Lexie was in her defiant, stubborn way, intimidating. If it had been any other girl, from this dreaded, confined country school, maybe it would have been different because of how... empty they were. And then it hit him. Emptiness... I am an idiot! He was lost in thought for a moment, thoughts buzzing in his head while Lexie's words ran through his ears. He could hear them both. But he couldn't put them together in that perfect instant... Lexie wasn't like all the other girls. She had, literally... a concious unlike all the rest. Unlike himself, who followed, laughed, and got into the trouble in league with his friends. That had to be it; why she was so much more appealing and interesting than the girls in their gossiping groups. She was her own. And Remi... was not.
He didn't mean to let his friends take control. He followed them around, was one of the most popular, only because of the freedom they gave him. The price of being locked in a small body when the skies were looming above him; with his light, avian-like body, to run instead of beat his wings... running like a wild teenager and doing such things came with it's wonderful features. But it did come with a price. They would make fun of Lexie, they would do things to try and hurt her feelings; but she would stick up for herself. She's not like everyone else. And she enjoys it. And when she said that final sentence, he looked down at her, tilting his head with a veru, very curious look.
Break free. Lexie didn't tie herself to troublemakers. That's right... why should he. He let go of his thoughts, and finally noticed how close she was. A playful look bounced in his eyes, a thin smile on his lips, "Hah... break free, huh? It means more than it sounds, you know..." his voice was quiet, as if, even though he was looking at Lexie, his words were meant for the gazing distance. He took a very small step back, grinning, "Break free, huh? Well... they're not here yet. Want me to show you around? So you don't.." his grin widened, "So you don't get lost or anything?" Yes, break free. His friends meant nothing but the feeling of freedom. He longed for real freedom. And the way Lexie seemed to respect it, to feel it to.. the way she wasn't tied to anything. He was jealous. he wanted to be like that. And I will.

Kasey slowly came to a stop at the steps before entering the unfamiliar school building in front of her. She looked at the piece of paper with handwritten directions in her hand once more, just to double check she was at the right place and took a deep breath. "Here we go," she whispered to herself before walking into the building.
Slowly she began to walk through the halls of the school. Since there was enough time before school actually started, Kasey thought it would be a good idea to see where all her classes were so that she wouldn't get lost later that day. She pulled out another piece of paper that she had in her messanger bag that slung over her right shoulder and looked at it.
"English first period," she said while sticking her tongue out. "Yuck." It wasn't that Kasey disliked that class, she just wasn't the best in that class. "Well, English class, here I come," Kasey said in a less than enthusiastic tone. After taking a few steps, she stopped in the middle of the hallway to look for her room. "Now, where is it?"

Dream of the Infinite Beauty Lexie laughed and backed off. "Well, I'm pretty sure I won't get lost, with all the maps hanging on the walls...but I'd love to walk with you." She giggled and linked arms with him. To her it was nothing. She did it with all of her friends, girl or guy. She didn't really think about it anymore.
"You know...you're going to be showing me around after school too, right? I mean, there's got to be something to do for fun in this little town..." She smiled at him, starting to say something else, but the bell rang. A warning that the buses were letting out. "s**t...well hey! What homeroom are you in? I'm in 116."

Remi followed beside Lexie, his arm kind of limp; he didn't much mind the arm links thing. Girls around him always clung to his shoulders, arms, literally his whole torso, so it wasn't that big of a deal... but still. He looked at her with a blank look, "Well, you never know... maps sometimes... are a little difficult to read." Well, maybe for Remington, who couldn't tell north from south on any sort of map. Anything really school related or with directions just seemed to bounce one way in and straight out through his brain. Like all men usually got when older, thinking they could find it themselves wihtout maps or help, it was just in is nature. A bird could find it's way; so could he. And if he didn't? He skipped.
"Well, there's a few things interesting around for this small town..." Remi thought for a moment, looking ahead as he did. Another group of girls passed by, eyeing Lexie with pure jealousy, but Remi paid no heed. He perked up suddenly, grinning at Lexie, "I got it! Have you heard of Crystal Wave? It's about the only night club we have around it. Pretty great place. When my friends and I aren't busy we usually go to hang out and dance. I think you'll like it!" At the end of his burst of excitement the bell rang, causing him to jump. He stopped, giving Lexie a questiongly look, then slid his arm from her and started fumbling through his backpack. His schedule had been sent to him through the mail, and it was just another one of those papers he decided to throw in. He finally found it, pulled it out, and gave it an odd look; the whole paper was crinkled. I'll need it today anyway. He looked it over once, caught the room, and stuffed it into his pocket while slinging his backpack on his shoulder again.
"Ah, well too bad.. I got room 202." Through the windows he could see groups of kids pulling in from the buses. Two inparticular, seniors now who were rough-housing even in the courtyard, were his friends Chris and Jonz. He grimaced, but ignored it, lexie's words ringing through his head again. "Well, you can go to class if you want. Or I could show you to it. But I don't think I even know where mine is..." which was a problem. he gave lexie a nervous look, and somewhat embarrassed.

With the Wings of an Angel... In deep thought while he reads the book he so desperately wanted to finish Alarac doesn't even realize that he has spent to much time in the back of the dusty library. His deep blue eyes scroll side to side reading each letter as if it was a story in it self, without and hesitation he turns the page over, in the split second of the pages turning Alarac's eyes seem to hunger for more. Left to right, his eyes repeat over and over as he quickly shuffles down the page. He switches over to the other page and scrolls down 9 lines and stops...The end of the book, he takes a second to take it in. He looks up at a case of books and lightly closes the old worn book, Then looks down at his watch... He sees that he is quiet late for class and immediately leans forward in his chair and shoves the book into his bag, slings the strap over his shoulder and jolts down the maze of bookcases, a few turns and he emerges at the head of the library, waves to the librarian now perched upon a stool overlooking the library and says,
"Good morning ma'am "
Then vanishes out the door, he makes a turn down the hallways of the school and pulls a piece of paper with his schedule typed out in black ink on it. He reads the parchment then follows saying,
" Room 202 huh. "
He makes another turn then stumbles through a doorway into his class. Alarac takes a look around the classroom, then walks towards a desk in the back of the room.
