All right, so there were two odd things that Sekizen did. The paw thing weirded her out less, though. "No, not that... I mean... your face. You were looking upset just a minute ago, and now you look like you've never felt anything." She wasn't trying to be rude and upset him; she was just curious, and wanted to know why someone would hide pretty much everything they felt. This curiosity showed on her face.

But her crimson eyes then dropped to his black paw, and she tilted her head slightly to the side. "But now that you've pointed it out... why do you keep dipping your paw in the water? Don't you like the colour?"

He beat himself up momentarily for mentioning his paw, but he was going to explain it anyway. "No one else in my family has it... I don't like it. It makes me... different," He said. It had pained him more in the past than it did now, but there was still a sting as he said that last word. He hid it, as he did all else.

"As for my face... I don't know why I hide everything, it's just easier, I find. I can get through anything, teasing, happiness, sadness, fear, anything. It's useful to not have your emotions interfere. What you saw a second ago was a slip up though," he said in a neutral tone. Inside, he was disappointed with himself, but he decided not to make two mistakes in one day.

Sineri was pleasantly surprised that Sekizen was honest about things. She'd expected him to hide it all, and that she would have to dig and press for the truth. Which she would have done, now that she was intrigued. She wrinkled her nose, because what Sekizen said wasn't on par with what her father always told her, and to Sineri, whatever her father said had to be true. She fairly idolised Ezeoha. "My daddy says that differences make you unique and special. Like my brother Shaji. He's got green on him, and no one knows where it comes from, but daddy says it makes Shaji even more special. Because he stands out more that way, and he's... different. Daddy says different is good, and I believe him."

She pondered that for a moment, one of her honey-tipped ears flicking. "Maybe it makes it easier for a while, not to deal with your emotions. But... aren't you worried that one day you're going to hide too much? I mean.. the feelings aren't going to just go away if you ignore them, I don't think. Seems to me they'll just keep building and building until... who knows what happens."

It seemed like a very silly thing to do to her. Never had she been able to ignore her emotions. They wouldn't go away until she expressed them somehow, often in private. And usually they had been building up until the point of release. If Sekizen buried so much... the eventual end result didn't look promising to her.

"I never really thought of it that way," the male said looking down at his black paw. All it ever seemed to bring him was hearthache- or rather paw-aches. He'd stubbed it and gotten thorns in it- he just wished it was white. Besides that, part of him didn't want to be special. He kept all these details to himself.

"I don't really ignore my feelings, I deal with them, but I just keep them out of my head until later, and even then, I don't let anyone know about them." The young lion shrugged. "It's just how I am. I'm not really worried about it, I'm not really stressed or anything. I just dispose of them quickly. My emotions, I mean." He sketched a circle in the dirt to see how perfect he could make it. He wondered if he was bugging the lioness.

"Well, you should for once," she replied matter-of-factly, eyeing the paw in question. She didn't see what was so wrong with it. It went quite nicely with the white of the rest of him, and the black on his face. "Do you know anyone else with a black paw? If you don't, I suppose that makes it even more special."

Sineri wrinkled her nose a little bit. "Sometimes it's a good thing to let others help you through what you're feeling. My daddy always helps me, and I feel a lot better about it afterwards." She shrugged like Sekizen did. "I don't think emotions should be disposed of. I mean... they have to be there for a reason, right? Not to be gotten rid of as quickly as possible. Otherwise, I supposed we wouldn't have them."

"I don't see what possible good could come of it," Sekizen said in reference to showing his emotions. They only ever weakened him, and all he needed was himself. He thought over it- maybe showing happiness wouldn't be so bad, but... That was showing something. It went against the cub's very nature. He would see what would happen, maybe he'd try it sometime. "I don't really want to be special, though," the juvenile said flatly. Special was different, and different was noticable. He didn't really want to be noticed... To stand out as a weirdo with a black paw.

He thought about what Sineri had said... Someone else help with emotions? No no no, that couldn't be, that'd be too big of a breach. He simply nodded, not looking any different than he had when the two met.
