(( xDD I can totally picture Mel holding out that stick. So cute ))
Where Katrin had yelled, Anya had to only hold in her laughter as she watched the boy brandish the stick in a pirate-y fashion while her own charge stopped mid-step in surprise and confusion. "Seems you definitely got a train-e," chuckled Anya while she glanced over at Katrina, "I can only pray that Keres doesn't take an interest in my choices of weaponry."
Keres cocked her head to the side and rose a brow while a corner of her upper lip rose as well in the process. The new four scratch lines that went across her lower torso were momentarily forgotten, even as they bled tiny droplets of blood down onto her tawny fur. The Sphinx child only had eyes for the stick now... and curiosity as to what the kid intended to do with it. It was a piece of wood, right? She couldn't see anything dangerous with that. In fact, maybe she could use one too?!
Immediately Keres glanced around herself as she looked for her own stick. There had to be more then one! Looking over her shoulder, she flicked her eyes over to Anya and low-and-behold there one was! And in a mad dash, Keres moved over to her guardian, thrust half her body between the woman's furred feet, and then slipped out and back towards Mel where she attempted to brandish the new weapon in the same manner that he did. A stern glare reappeared on her face and she jiggled the stick slightly, enticing Mel to attack.

{{XDDD They are the two cutest creatures I’ve ever seen in my life. STICKFIGHTING! I can see them doing it with mops and brooms when they get older. ^^}}
“Well, I hope he doesn’t turn into a landlubber,” Katrina drawled. “No offense to you, of course,” she added quickly. Catching Anya’s second comment, she looked over at the Sven and raised an eyebrow. “Guns, then?” she asked casually. Guns were just as commonplace for her as swords were, despite the fact that she didn’t carry one. Pirates had to be good at what staying alive however they could, after all.
When Keres picked up her own stick, Melchy brightened. Now it was fighting like he’d seen Katrina and the other men did! Laughing excitedly, Melchy forgot the pain from his multitude of scrapes and bruises. The welt under his eye was still bleeding sluggishly, but it didn’t matter. He and Keres had swords now!
Katrina watched, swallowing uncharacteristic worry and laughing when Keres gave her ward as good as she got. Melchy ignored both the women, focusing on the stick Keres was wiggling at him. Tongue still sticking out the side of his mouth, he hopped forward and hit his stick against the one Keres was holding. The ‘clack’ was pretty satisfactory, and he grinned evilly and did it again, this time harder, adding a little jab toward Keres’ stomach like he’d seen Katrina do when she sparred.

(( xD omgyes!
And so sorry that I took so long to reply x____;. I'm usually never this...tardy or whatever.))
Anya waved a hand to dismiss Katrina's first comment, as she didn't mind being called a "landlubber", and then nodded to the second, "yeah, guns. Though, there are also explosives, mines, aaand ice climbing picks." She shrugged when she finished and then glanced back to the dueling children, almost snorting in some form of laughter as she watched.
The young sphinx hadn't had any sort of idea as to how the sticks were to be actually used, and so she was caught off guard when Melchy smacked her stick with his. It dropped inches towards the ground in her loose grip, and then almost got away completely with his second slap. This caused Keres' focus to become consumed on re-adjusting her weapon and so she didn't even notice the boy's jab until it hit her in the stomach.
An incredulous expression formed across her face and her new grip on her "sword" tightened. The sphinx child's eyes once more slanted in an icy little glare as she went about to stare down her opponent... however behind her her tail was busy cupping around a hunk dirt, dust, and small twigs.

Katrina raised an eyebrow at Anya’s extensive list of weaponry, smiling at the more unusual items. “Swords, knives, guns, cannons, and Molotov cocktails,” she replied, then watched the proceedings. She hadn’t expected Keres to be as thrown off as she ended up being.
Neither, apparently, had Melchizedek. When he actually made contact with the sphinx girl’s stomach, he stopped and stared, blinking in dumbstruck confusion and not even attempting a follow-up strike. Apparently Keres didn’t know how to use swords! And now she was angry. Melchy looked up at Keres and flattened his ears, not willing to back down no matter how scary the other child got. He backed away a little bit, trying to get his body out of range so Keres couldn’t hurt him with her stick.
He was completely focused on her face and didn’t even bother to notice her tail. After all, Keres’ tail wasn’t glaring at him or holding a stick that would hurt a lot if it hit Melchy. Therefore it wasn’t top priority. It never occurred to him that it could quickly become top priority.
“I think mine’s outsmarted,” Katrina said eventually, putting her hands on her hips and watching the children. “He’s got a lot to learn if he’s ever to become a proper buccaneer. Yours, however…” she shrugged and smiled a bit at Anya. “She’s welcome in my crew soon’s she’s old enough to understand and follow orders.

(( *Faaaaailllsss* x__x. Gawd my post is SO SO bad... ))
Keres waggled her stick a little in both hands before she thrusted it through the air towards Mel in some little fake-out while behind her her tail finally parted ways with the ground, a nice clod of...stuff in its coils. She continued to watch her "opponent" as she ignored the adult's chattering around her.
Anya rose a brow towards Katrina's first comment and then glanced down at Keres for a second.... but only for a second, for she soon shot her eye back up at the woman when her offer-thing was heard.
"Serious?" Anya asked in surprise, and then unfolded her arms and lifted her hands a little in a surrender-like pose. "Hey, IF she learns to follow orders, she can be ALL yours for a several months!" The Sven chuckled and looked back down at the kids. "She doesn't like following rules."
The Sphinx child certainly did not like following rules. She moved to turn away from the fight and lowered her stick in the process, but a second later she turned back and flung the dirt and natural debris at Melchy (which flew at his stomach rather then his face) and then completely launched herself at him with her "sword" wildly swinging every-which-way. 'Screw the rules' she thought. She'd do this her own way.
(( DDx Such a bad post. My apologies ))

Melchy had never expected anything that happened to him in the fast, complex, and bewildering series of events that occurred between Keres turning away and him getting knocked down and hit with a stick. He squalled, striking back up at Keres as hard as he could and succeeding only in missing anything that would make her back off. He twisted just a little bit, shifting so he could kick up with his clawed hind feet in an attempt to get away and hide behind Katrina. He had finally met his match, and decided that she was more than enough. He yowled again and hissed, ears going completely flat as his tail poofed out angrily.
“Huh, I think he’s a little upset,” Katrina said, tilting her head to watch the boy’s struggle with Keres. “I’m thinking that we should probably separate them before one of them loses an eye,” she said to Anya. “If it weren’t for the sticks, I’d say otherwise, but sticks are…” She shrugged and tapped the handle of her sword. Best to try and separate them the legitimate way.
“Oy! Kiddos! Put ‘em down!” she barked, using her best captain’s voice, putting a hand on her sword and glaring haughtily down at the children. She didn’t expect it to work, but one never knew…

Anya nodded in agreement and moved forward. She knew that Keres would never listen to Katrina, no matter how stern and scary she made her voice. So, instead, the Sven leaned down and simply grabbed her child by the middle of the tail, which subconsciously wrapped its end around her hand, and lifted the sphinx child straight up in the air as she straightened her back. Anya stated and looked towards Katrina, "but she never would've listened." The Sven gave a glare down at the kid she held in the air at an arms length away from her body.
Keres had the feeling that she wasn't going to be put down anytime soon... and that now her opponent was a bit too far away to hit with her stick anymore. Sensing the end of the fight, along with defeat thanks to Anya, the sphinx child finally stopped her swinging and resided to just hang there and tilt her head at Melchy like a parrot, or a monkey, would do.

Katrina shrugged and smiled a bit at Anya. "Mine never would have answered it, either, but it's worth a try." She watched the sphinx-child calm fairly swiftly and then reached down to pick up her own spitting cat. Melchy swiped at her, but Katrina deftly avoided it and simply grabbed him by the back of his shirt and lifted him straight up so they were eye-to-eye.
"I think it's time to go, me hearty," she said quietly to him, holding him until he stopped hissing and struggling. Then she set him down and turned him so he was once again facing Keres. "Say adieu to your mate then, Melchy."
The boy regarded Keres for a moment, then pinned back his ears, bared all his teeth, and hissed at her, kicking dirt in her direction as well. Katrina clapped him on the shoulder, looked up at Anya, and shrugged.
"Well, we'd best be going," she said eventually. "I wouldn't mind meeting up again for a bit of a chat," she added amiably, restraining Melchy. "Fair winds and following seas, Anya and Keres." She tipped her hat quickly, and then started back in the direction from which she and the boy had come, steering Melchy along with her.
