"Then what will I do? I can add your color to my hair." He said, pointing at her orange/red part in her hair. "Maybe that will look pretty... HI MANNY'S MOMMY!" Harper yelled, again. It was in passing, as he lost any focus he had on Estelle in .002 seconds when Manny took his hand and they were heading toward the chairs.

"I've got a Mommy and an Uncle Sunny and Eliot and Solo are my 'stupid lackeez.' I'm lucky, huh?"

When they got there, Harper looked up at the 'towering' object. "Help!" He whined in a most distressed tone. "I can't reach!" He explained, pointing helplessly at the seat of the chair where he wanted to go.

"Yeah, that's cool. I've just got my mom," she told him, not paying too much attention to his stressed whining. Instead of offering up a strategy she simply reached down and grabbed hold of his waist, picking him up with a little difficulty and dropping him down on the edge of the chair. "There you go," she said triumphantly, imagining him with her hair color before she got into her own chair.

The girl she had pointed out earlier, Cassie, ended up being their stylist. "Hey you two," she said in a sing-song voice, "I hear you're looking for something glamorous. Well we can do a quick wash and then pick what to do. She pointed over toward the sinks, "There are some picture books there with plenty of style choices. And we have some semi-permanent color if you want to go a little out there. That means it will wash out in a few weeks."

Giving a 'whee' as he was picked up and set on the chair, Harper grinned. "Thank you!" He chirped, clapping his hands in applause for her briefly. Smiling at Cassie when she came over, he asked "You make some of my hair look like hers, yes?" while pointing at Manny. "Few weeks? Wash out? Where does it go? Does it run away? Why doesn't it stay? Manny, what's her name? Did you tell already?"

"We are going to go get our hair washed? Why, is my hair smelly? I'm not dirty I PROMISE. I took a bath earlier. Manny! Is this going to be fun?!" He asked, a little distressed again. He let out a small, baby sigh and smiled again letting himself trust his wonderful hair to the hands of the professionals and his new friend.

Cassie gave the pair and eye as she prepared two of the sinks, but didn't say anything. Manny smiled, "It just washes out, like paint or a stain or something. Her name's Cassie, and don't worry she's really good." But then he started asking about the washing. Of course she had forgotten that some kids didn't like baths. "She's just going to wash out spit and gel and stuff so she can put other stuff in instead," she explained, "It's not because she thinks it's dirty, they do it all the time. And yeah, it's a lot of fun. At least I think so."

"But then my hair might not stick up anymore. Cassie, you make my hair stick up really well, too? Maybe make Manny's hair go up like mine." Harper said with a grin at Manny. "It'll look pretty. Then we can headband to heavy metal together." Harper explained, breifly giving her the traditional 'rock on' hand signal before turning back to Cassie.

"Will you make my hair colours like Manny's, Cassie?" He sounded somewhat hopeful. Of course he didn't know what would become of it, but it would wash out of he hated it eventually. Soloman would be pleased. Ashley might be mad but who cares, she certainly wouldn't be smart enough to take it out on Manny.. just Soloman.

"That'd be cool," Manny admitted, "But I was thinking more something kind of stylish and chic." She opened one of the books, thumbing through to a page she had memorized, "Maybe something like this." Cassie nodded at the toddler's request, scooping up several bottles of firey colors.

"That would be pretty." Harper said with a nod. Under his breath, he muttered, "But it could still be spiked up sometimes, too."

He watched as Cassie went about her work and quivered slightly with excitement. "Will it hurt?" He asked curiously, though he didn't sound at all afraid of the prospect. Pain was usually in accompaniment with fun, somehow. "Why the hair infront longer than in back, Manny?" Harper suddenly asked, looking at the other girl curiously. He wondered if his hair did that all, looking over at a now (entirely asleep) Soloman who only had hair on the top of his head. "Is it like how Solo's hair only grows ... like that..?"

Glancing at her long orange bangs, Manny frowned, "You know, I don't really know. They just kind of grew like that. They feel different too, here touch." She leaned forward, letting the bang fall forward, "The rest of my hair is kind of rough feeling. It's softer. And no, it won't hurt, the only time it would hurt is if you were getting it bleached, which you're not." Unless of course his hair was tangled, but it didn't look like it was.

Quickly, Harper reached out and felt the girl's bangs. "It feels like my stuffed animals." He discovered, with a nod. "Does that mean stuffed animals are made out of hair like yours? My hair.." He reached up and felt his hair. "Feels sticky." All that spit..

"What does bleached do? Why would people do it if it hurts? Do they like pain? Eliot says some people like pain, like my Uncle Sunny.." Harper pursed his lips. "I don't understand that well. Uhmmm, what is that?" Harper asked YET AGAIN, pointing at some makeup on some of the counters. "Can I have some?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 16, 2007 5:54 pm

Manny shrugged, sitting up again, "I thought stuffed animals were full of beads or fluff or something, but it could be hair, I don't know." She was a bit worried when he said people liked pain, but found that he wasn't really being sullen when he asked for some makeup. "Bleaching makes your hair kind of white like yours, people with darker hair like mine do it sometimes to look different. Makeup is the same, it makes you look different, sometimes better, sometimes silly. You can have some if you want, Cassie's really good at that too."

Cassie smiled at the compliment, then moved the two chairs toward the sink, "Ok guys, lean back get comfy. Which one of you wants to go first?" She was really up for either, it didn't take long to wash and both of them had relatively short hair.

"Bleaching makes your hair white? People go in pain to look like me?" Harper grinned. That was fantastic. He felt all special, and brave, like some guy who just got a tattoo while sober. Except, not, because he had no idea what that was like.

"Manny can go first, maybe? People always say girls get cranky when you make them wait..." Harper informed. People being Eliot and Soloman. "Do you wear makeup, Manny?" He asked while plunking himself down into the chair. He seemed alarmed at the unfamiliar sensation of the particular position, but grinned and clenched his hands together with anticipation.

"Sometimes, when I want to look pretty. But not if I'm just like going the store with Mama Estelle, some people wear it all the time though," she told him, adjusting so that her hair dangled in the sink. Cassie proceeded to spray it down, taking care not to get the two textures knotted together. "Mama used to say makeup was for older people," she added, "But she said I can wear it if I'm careful how much I use. Too much can make you look slutty." Of course, she didn't really know what slutty meant, but she guessed it was a bad thing.

"What? .. Uncle Sunny says mommy looks like that all the time! And Eliot too, but then mama says men can't look like that and then they get in a big argument and they yell a lot and it's really funny!" Harper giggled while watching Manny get wet. This entire thing was just odd, but it was funny and it was nice to talk to people... usually by now, the person he was talking to had discarded him for something else.

He leaned further and wiggled some so the little tufts of hair on his head went as far into the sink as it could. He frowned momentarily at the cold metal on the back of his neck only to giggle again as though it tickled. "Can I wear makeup? I want to look pretty too! Mommy says boys don't look as pretty as girls, even when they try to they don't do it good, but mommy's pretty stupid. I mean. I love my mommy!"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 16, 2007 6:32 pm

Could boys wear makeup? No one had ever told her that they couldn't, and if he wanted to then sure he could. "If you want, you can even get some in colors that match your new hair. It washes off it you don't like it," she explained, trying not to fidget as the cool water ran down over her forehead. "And I think that's silly," she added, "Boys can be just as pretty as girls." Antony was an example of that. And so was Harper in her opinion.

"You only put a little bit of Manny-color in my hair, okay? Then I can have a bunch of different colors." Harper asked of Cassie, grinning and making it seem like he found that prospect exciting. He already had blue and yellow covered, he was just one dose of red away from having all the primaries (and white and black!) and thus being a PERFECT palette!

"Well. Girls look pretty, different. Maybe that's what my mommy meant so she's not so stupid. Maybe. Okay! We can put makeup on that matches the new me... Manny, you are going to wear makeup too, right?" He looked at her, still fascinated with the whole process going on with her hair.
