The fox boy ran ahead of his mother, who was stolling leisurely along the third level of the ferry. Marissa still had her latest read in her hand, the burgundy leather-clad novel for which the pink buddleia was serving as a bookmark. She glanced up at her son but waved him to go on with a smile; he couldn't exactly go far. They were on a boat. She returned to her reading.

Kale ran ahead, eager to take in the new surroundings. In all honesty, the water on all sides of them made him extremely uncomfortable; but he wouldn't let anyone else know that.

Up ahead, he sees three women who seem quite professional, and his curiosity is piqued. Well off-women, obviously, merchants perhaps. Merchants often had shiny, exciting treasures for him to look at... Inhibition being a word that the fox never learned, he bounds up to them, ignoring glances from others that he passes, no doubt due to his startling appearance. He grins up at them. "Hello, misses!"

There were three businesswomen- one smiled at Kale, another looked at him with a bit of a scowl, and the third knelt down so that she'd be on the same level as he.

"Why hello there," she said, her voice very high pitched- almost to a point of shrillness. "What's your name?"

DeArca sat alone on the deck with a pole in hand, watching the string get pulled within the water, the sheer force making it hard to tell if he had a fish or not at times. He wasn't so sick, he enjoyed the water...it was amazing. He hoped that this boat ride would get them to the Isle soon because he was curious to explore more locations.

"Hehe!" Ash was in a barrel on the ship which rolled around when the ship waved. Ash came out, dizzy and laughing. "Hehe! Weee!" he cheered and crawled out of the barrel and went over to Ash, poking him. "Hehe"

"Hmm, hey Ash? Don't be causing trouble now!" He smiled, patting his head as he put his pole in a lockhole and went over to the barrel, standing it. "Hey! Hey!" Ash jumped, pointing to DeArca's pole and DeArca turned. "I got one!" He said, but watched his pole break and fall into the water as DeArca looked over. "Bye Bye!" Ash said and DeArca sighed. "Darn, it took a while to make that. Oh well, no fish today, Ash" He said

Axel was perched above, looking for other Banyas like himself but saw nobody. He blinked and looked down at his owner and sweatdropped at how silly he and Ash were.

Oqaia stumbled around DeArca and Ash- mostly on accident. She'd been trying to get to the edge so that she might... be 'nervous' again. Instead, she held back while the "boys" were there.

"Oh. DeArca. I'm sorry... I didn't see you there." She was a lovely shade of 'ill'.

"You know, if he's shredding your socks, it means he likes you." Altaira argued unconvincingly as she and Thuban made their way to where they'd said they'd meet Heather.

"Sure, sure...and next you'll be telling me your old mule can talk."

Since Altaira had been scared witless finding her brother stowed away in her wagon, the siblings had been inseparable. Which was starting to annoy the bobcat Sindri more than Kala's presence did on board the ship - though she wasn't much of a threat these days - and that's saying something. He was a selfish cat and wanted his main care provider focused on him, thanksverymuch.

So he'd been up to his old tricks, hiding Thuban's tools and shredding his underwear. Right now however, he was prowling around the decks. Those small green people were intriguing...funny not-humanish scent. The bobcat planned to check them out.

"Setsuz..." the smallest of the group mumbled, "Do you see?"

Setsuz followed Ixlj's eyes, and paled itself. "Hoz Gods. What is that?"

"I don't know, but don't get any closer. ...Sets! What are you doing?"

For Sets had begun to do exactly that: move closer to the bobcat.

Irina had boarded the ferry a bit perturbed, not quite comfortable on the water. She had never travelled on a ferry before, and it made her stomach knot. She had spent most of the time so far in the wagon, trying to ignore the water around her, hoping the baby wouldn't be fussy and make her ill.

The children, on the other hand, were delighted to be on the boat, and had been dying to go outside and explore. Irina was glad they could each look after each other now, even if they were still young. Soon enough, they would be old enough to explore by themselves, she thought, knowing that they would grow quickly.

"Do you both want to go check out the deck?" she asked Kal and Eerie as they stared out the wagon windows, wanting to be with the others who were enjoying the fresh ocean air.

Kalpana whippped her head around and nodded furiously, managing to get out a "Yesssssssss mama!" before she pressed her face against the window again, more than a little curious about the new scenery outside.

Eerie didn't even turn around, but kept staring out the window, as quiet as ever. "Pa-leeze?" he asked, already knowing his mother would say yes as he stood up and headed for the door on shaky hooves. He had only gotten used to walking a few weeks ago, when he took his first steps alone. Kal had helped him, holding his hands as he threatened to fall over. Her large feet kept her firmly planted though, and Eerie had managed to walk a few steps before plopping down on his bottom.

"All right then," Irina said, unable to say know to their curious faces. "Let's get going." She stood up, one hand holding her round belly as she did so. She headed for the door, pulling Eerie up into her arms and resting him on her hip, while she let Kal open the door and scamper down the steps and into the cool, salty air. "It'd probably be good for us to get some fresh air," she said, making her way down the steps and onto the deck, looking for some of the other caravan members.

The ferry took a bit of a dip, and one of the fellow passengers- the Corphori, to be exact- tumbled directly into Irina and her brood. He didn't know how hard he'd smacked into her, but in the split-second of the impact, hoped it wans't as bad as he thought.

Leax made a low pur in his throat, then reached over and gave Lorelei a soft brush on the cheek. He'd become accustomed to seeing her in the blindfold- though it still pained his heart that for every sweet gesture of touch he made when Vanna was around, he had to give her a soft 'warning' beforehand. Otherwise, the start she'd give would make him sad. Several things made him sad, these days. Thankfully, their location was not one of them.

"It's so comforting here. I love the water. It reminds me of my childhood." Other things dwelled on his mind, though, and he ruminated aloud. "Your Banya. The one that gave the fortune earlier. What was its name?"

"It reminds me of mine, as well - though perhaps not as happy as yours," Lorelei said, a faint smile on her lips. The pains of her past had been slowly soothed to a manageable level, and she could now talk of it easily.

"... The one who spoke of Vanna and you seeing her before...? That was Fen, I believe. Her voice is different from Aleysius's.

"Why?"

The twins saw him, as well. It wasn't long before they were poking each other and giggling, their red heads together conspiratorily. It wasn't until one ran up to a few long steps from where Taniel was- and said in a high, curious voice,

"Are you a girl?" that their mother realized what was happening. She held back the other twin, and started to give a quick lecture. The first was still near to Taniel, however, only a breath away from a giggle.

Taniel blinked, smiling amiably as the little girl came up to him. Still, her question gave him pause. He was used to it - or at least, looks that asked it - but coming from such a young girl...

And her mother looked more than a little displeased.

Well, it was easy to mistake him. He still painted his lips like he had grown up doing, and his waist was pulled into a pleasing curve... his chest even swelled slightly, from all of his vocal training. No, it was easy to mistake him.

He went down on level with the girl, still smiling. Still, what to tell her...? Not the whole truth. "No, I'm not," he said, gently. Other than that, though, he wasn't sure of what to say. The truth... just not the dirty details of it. "But I'm not a boy, either. I'm sort of in between."

“Come on honey, you’ll be fine, I’ll be here the whole time”

Mirela stood at the base of Narkri Chooma’s steps speaking soothingly to an anxious Tafari, who was shifting restlessly on his cloven feet just inside the wagons threshold. It was the sea, the constant, continual motion, which had caused such a drastic change in child, transforming him into a jittering and clinging wreck with its foreignness. For the most part, Mirela hadn’t minded the change, content to while away the days of their voyage within the confines of the wagon, but slowly, cabin fever, curiosity and the desire to distance herself and her son from Aucaman, who had spouted another fortune, had gained the better of the young gypsy and had prompted her leave Narkri Chooma.

“You can do it Tafari, just take it slowly” Mirela encouraged, extending her arms toward her child while ensure they remained just out of reach. It may have seemed a cruel action, but Mirela deemed it a necessary one. Tafari was becoming too heavy to carry around for long periods, especially down the awkwardness of stairs, and, eventually, the boy would have to learn to descend the flight without relying on his mother’s assistance.

Still holding tightly to the doorframe with his right hand, and his blonde-headed doll with his left, Tafari glanced worriedly down the length of the stairs and then toward his mother’s supportive features. Slowly, the boy lifted a foot and placed it gingerly upon the first rung, flexing his knee to test for stability. When the wooden plank held strong, Tafari stepped down with another hoofed appendage, treading his back legs forward automatically. Gradually, during a moment of relatively calm swell, Tafari unclenched his hand from doorframe, reaching instead to catch the tips of Mirela’s fingers.

“Good job honey” Mirela enthused with a radiant smile, helping her son to steadily navigate the remaining stairs before pulling him into a tight embrace. “I knew you could do it” the young woman murmured against Tafari’s ear.

Once more on ‘solid’ ground, Tafari appeared to brighten, although he was quick to catch his mother’s skirts and hold tightly to the layer material as Mirela stood tall once more, moving slowly through the moored wagon train. Upon hearing familiar voices, those of Irina and her children, Mirela smiled and turned in the direction of the sounds, rounding the corner in time to stifle a startled yelp as the ferry dipped and a man was sent toppling into the pregnant mother and her infants.

“Irina, Kalpana, Eerie, are you okay?!” Mirela exclaimed, tone a mix of shock and concern as she hurried toward the group as fast as a clinging Tafari would allow. Extending both her hands to help the downed family, and ferry passenger, up, Mirela waited fretfully for the answer to her question.

Now. Here came the choice. To purr and act like a domestic cat - which worked well with dear Altaira - or to be the wild thing he was and growl? He wasn't sure he liked the thing coming closer.

Just a small growl, ears back and shying away - but not leaving. He wanted to find out what they were but if anyone tried to pick him up he always had tooth n' claw. Of course, his mother would disapprove but she always got him out of scrapes with humanoids. She'd apologise if needs be.

Kale grinned. He liked this woman, and he glanced kindly at the smiling lady behind her. The frowning woman, however, he avoided making eye contact with.

"Kale, ma'am," he said to the kneeling woman. "Who are you?"

DeArca and Ash immediately looked over to Oqaia and eeped when she looked sickly. "Uh oh, come on, Oq, you'll make a mess if you don't lean over the edge" He asked, leading her over. "Go on, let it out" He asked, rubbing her back for her.

Ash blinked and put a finger to his mouth in wonder of Oqaia's illness. "She's green, Daddy" He giggled some. "Can I be green too?" He asked, jumping with excitement.

Caroline waits for a response from the gentleman, trying not to think about the swaying of the boat.

Rojiza nods at Ani in sort of a "we shall!" sort of gesture, before noticing a lanky sort of young gentleman standing there with them. She smiles a little at him and nods a bit. She dips a little curtsy and looks at Ani to introduce them to the man called Baptiste. So many new people were joining their caravan!

Before Irina could greet her caravan family, the ferry dipped low in the water, causing her to check her footing. Kal fell to her bottom, still not a professional at walking, and scrambled up again before she saw a man rolling toward them like a bowling ball to pins.

"Mama! Care-fu!" she shouted, trying to warn her mother before something bad happened.

Irina shrieked as the Corphori came tumbling into her and Eerie, and before she knew it, they were a pile on the wooden flooring of the ferry. Eerie crawled out of the mess easily, and headed toward his sister, who helped him stand, and she continued to hold his hands so that he could also get used to the rocking of the ferry.

Irina, checking to make sure she was still intact -- which she was -- looked up at the man who had tumbled into them. "Still haven't got your sea legs, have you?" she asked, chuckling a little. "Mind helping me up? I have some problems with that these days," she said, a twinkle in her eye as she raised a hand for him to pull her up.

Just as she was doing so, she heard a shout from Mirela, who scurried toward them with Tafari. "Oh thank you dear sister. I think we're alright. So far, nothing hurts, so that's a good sign, right?" She smiled at her, offering her her other hand as Mirela reached out to help them up. "Maybe you both could help me..."
