"It's obvious that you'd rather fly than swim." He couldn't think that the stallion would like water much for that. He'd seen very few birds that liked water and Safi didn't match any of them. "Unless you're a duck i'd think water would be against you."

He noticed the other stallion looking at him but didn't pay much attention to it. If he thought that everything was going to gobble him up he'd never get over anything. Safi had been nice so far so there was no reason to think that he was weighing the option of eating him. "I-I'm sorry if my eyes are creepy. I know they don't look right." He'd gotten a strange gold glow from his line and knew that it could unnerve people. Even Sedi had told him so once when he'd caught him late at night.

"How could you hold me against the ground? I'm almost bigger than you." Even with his jumpy nature he had gotten muscles from his line. All the running and jumping had filled him out nicely somehow.

A duck, indeed. He's make a right pretty duck, wouldn't he? Safi was still chuckling over that idea when Wadi's sudden apology about his eyes caused the brows to pop up once more, shortly followed by a short bit of laughter. "Sorry? Why be sorry about your eyes, Wadi, when what they look like is beyond your control anyway? They're rather fascinating, actually; I've HEARD about people having eyes that burn with intensity, but never seen any that actually burn! It's quite the conversation piece, I'd say."

And so indeed he felt. Apologizing about having glowing eyes made about as much sense as apologizing for having wings, or horns, or even curly hair; it was just one of those THINGS.

As for the other... "Well, wing muscles have to be pretty strong to support the weight of an entire Soquili in flight, wouldn't you think? You might be comparable in size to me, but if they can lift me up, I bet they could hold you down." Now Safi's grin took on a slightly mischievious grin, and he suddenly snapped out both of his wings to their full extension, the dark feathers framing his pale body. "Or don't you think it can be done?"

"I still shouldn't go about creeping people out with them." At least he didn't have eyes like Tanwen. She could scare anyone without even trying. Heaven forbid you run into her in the dark. He shivered slightly as the thought. "Got them from Grandah. Thankfully they're not as bad as some of the family."

"True..." He'd been about to say something else but Safi snapping out his wings startled him enough he skidded back a step or two. "You'd .... have to use the base of your wings. The ends wouldn't get enough force." He knew that things worked like that. You couldn't hold things down with the tip of something no matter now strong.

He'd have to be tucked under a wing for Safi to keep him from going anywhere and even then it would take some effort to keep muscles as good as his still.

"Well, unless you're going to walk about with your eyes shut, I think you'll have problems. You should be proud of your inheritance, after all!"

In a rather fluid movement, Safi curled the ends of his spread wings up to rets behind his head, the overall impression one of a picture frame around Safi's face. Granted, he only wanted to have something to rest against his head, but that was rather moot. Perhaps it would be less intimidating this way, assuming that Wadi was still intimidated.

Though if he was intimidated, he was able to make a joke well enough. "Point, but I'd have to get you in a virtual headlock to accomplish that, and that hardly sounds comfortable, don't you think?"

"It's slightly hard to when the rest of your family is brave and you walk around jumping at falling leaves." Which sadly he'd done before on many occasions. Granda was strong and brave and Dah was the same way, all his uncles were better than him and so were the girls. He'd just gotten the short end and had to live with it. It was easier just jumping at things than it was to worry about jumping at things.

"So it would be almost impossible, and very uncomfortable, for you to keep me still with just your wings." Which is what he'd said earlier. "It would probably take two to hold me down"

"Pshaw, NOW you're just being silly. As though falling leaves are an issue in the middle of summer!"

Poor Wadi, he just took himself way too seriously, what with being jumpy AND having the weight of the world on his shoulders. No wonder he was twitchy; he got the double whammy of being naturally twitchy and FEELING twitchy. "You know that the mind is capable of convincing itself things that aren't necessarily true, right? That is to say, you might actually be a lot more stable and confident than you think. Seriously, since almost falling in the river you haven't jumped once!"

And that was true, at least as Safi saw it, though he couldn't take the excessive negativism of the challenge lying down. "And are you referring to two of ME, or merely two of my wings? Either way, you might be exagerating just a tiff."

".... they fall in summer" He'd seen them and they'd fallen on him just the same. It didn't happen often but it could. "I've ... had them fall on me."

His ears twitched slightly as the others' words. Dah had said something almost the same but he'd never been able to convince himself of it. He always jumped at things to that's just how he was. "Well nothings happened that' startled me yet since them. Give it a bit." He was sure either a fish would jump or some other little creature would come running by. Heck if a bird flew over head the shadow could make him jump.

"It would take two of you, or you an another."

"Perhaps, but hardly with anything even remotely verging on regularity." Chuckling, Safi allowed his wings to flop back into their usual relaxed pose, the need to have them up and about having dispersed. He did, however, tilt his head thoughtfully at Wadi before walking over to the other stallion.

Twitchiness was a state of mind, nervousness at the potential for some sort of harm from one's surroundings, right? Amazing that one could be so worried about what MIGHT happen that they missed the positives.

Stopping about a step or so away from Wadi, Safi eyed the now still ears that had twitched a moment before, then carefully stuck out a wing to rest it against the side of Wadi's neck. Considering how wound up he was, he had to have a hell of a pulse, and THAT could be unhealthy.

"Well, if I come across another me, I'll be sure to take up the idea with him. Who knows, we might get you calm yet!"

He stiffened slightly when Safi came closer to him but tried to make himself relax. He wasn't going to jump just because the other stallion had walked closer. Sadly he did twitch slightly when the wing touched him. He hadn't been expecting it completely and couldn't stop his muscles jumping completely.

"I .. i don't think that'd get me calm. You can't change someone's nature completely right?" He might, over time, get less jumpy about things but he'd always be twitchy. It was just how he was. Just like how Sedi always got in trouble and Dodger was always a smartass and Mama always told Dah he was too stuffy.

Feeling the muscles of Wadi's neck twitch at the touch, Safi merely chuckled; somehow, he wasn't surprised that a stallion that jumped at falling leaves would be taken aback by being touched. Still, for all that he didn't seem to have THAT frantic a pulse, and Safi was amused at the seeming dichotomy. Smiling, he pulled the wing away from Wadi's neck to pat his cheek.

"Well, things might be be changable, but they can at least be tempered somewhat. You're an interesting fellow, Wadi, which is probably partly due to your twitchiness, but don't you think it'd be nice to hear a fish jump without it setting off a chain reaction in your muscles?"

He looked at the water then back at the white and blue stallion. "Ah... i've never really thought about it." He liked the sound of the water just fine it was just when things jumped out of or into it that he got twitchy. "Water's fine, just could do without the stuff in it that's all."

He could do without a lot of things in other things but life didn't work like that. "I've gotten better. Used to be really really jumpy about everything." Had it been but a few months ago he would have gone running just at the sight of the other.

"Well, there you go! Got the necessary optimism, at least, and that's a start." Grinning, Safi revoked his wings entirely, drawing it along his own jawline in a thoughtful fashion. "But that reminds me, in a weird way. If you're so concerned about...everything, why are you out all alone? That seems like a pretty good way to ensure that you have NOTHING to protect you from...whatever."

Realizing after he spoke how strange that sounded. "Not that there's anything to really worry about out here, especially not me. I am, after all, as innocent as a newly born lamb." This with a grin meant to look sweet and innocent that may or may not have pulled off the effect. "Just a general question, I suppose."

"Mama and Dah and Sis say i've got to get over it. So they keep telling me to go out on my own." He usually convinced Kizula to come along with him even when someone told her not to but she'd been off doing something else today. Which meant he'd wandered off alone.

"I .. guess." He still thought there was plenty to worry about. There were all the small furry things and all the small scaley things that could get him. He also knew that there were wolves and enough of those and he'd be in big trouble.

"Interesting theory, I suppose. Rahter like the principle of teaching someone to swim by chucking them in a lake!"

Safi was probably looking at the situation with a great deal more levity than Wadi, but that was hardly surprising. Safi tended to look at EVERY situation with more levity than the average Soquili, and in this case, Wadi was hardly average. In a way, it made Safi feel like he was making more out of the situation than there actually existed, but that was probably just his inborn sympathy for the plight of the less fortunate speaking. Or something like that.

"Regardless, you're out on your own, or you were, before you were fortunate enough to meet me. You know, that could really be looked at from two angles; either you did a bad thing and are no longer on your own, or you did a great thing and met someone new. Hard choice to pick just one, doncha think?"

Grinning, Safi strode past Wadi to the bank of the river, lowering his head to take a drink. All this rationalizing was exhausting! "Dwell on the negatives too much, you'll age yourself prematurely."

"I think they'd be happy that i met someone and didn't go running back home as fast as my hooves would carry me." Kizuka had been so happy that he'd talked to Memory all on his own without fleeing.

He didn't think he dwelt on the negative things all that much. He just took them in stride as part of life and just decided to keep mostly to himself. It made things easier on everyone even if it meant he was slightly lonely when everyone else was busy doing something else.
