Perhaps, had he known, Farlest would have preferred to be a little less good-looking. The elf had considered it both a blessing and a curse over the years, depending on the circumstance, really.
With a sad nod, he smiled sympathetically, "Someday she might realize it...she might not be a little girl any more, but...you can hope. There's a certain wisdom that comes with age, but she's still very small, as is my little one, and they have a lot to learn."
Arius ran fingers through dark hair and smiled, "Yeah, I do. And you sure? I Mean...I'm not really one for suits, as stylish as they're s'posed to be...what's the word...casual...yeah, stuff that's stylish and comfortable."
Crimson eyes went wide, however, when she stepped out, and Arius whistled softly, "Wow...you look...all pretty and grown-up." The black somehow seemed to suit her, make her look older, with a mature beauty that the boy himself somehow envied.
Or at least that was how he saw it. "Wanna go show them?" Speaking of the parents, he held out a hand to Vanyel, attempting to be the playful gentleman in his own way, feeling just a bit cheeky, he winked at her. Leaning in just a bit, remembering what she had said before, he whispered, "And you do have nice legs, Vanyel." The boy assured.

Lifting a hand, Kitten fiddled with one of her curls resting upon her shoulder and her gaze shifted down to watch the locks instead of the elf. This was a mistake. Whatever responce she was going to give to the man was lost to a silent yelp and the sudden loss of about 95% of her hair. In the blink of an eye her hair was short and spiked, black with whisping black bangs that brushed across her forehead. "Oh...oh my, I'm so sorry!" she stammered out, though not really sure how to explain what it is she was apologizing for.
Vanyel considered his question for a moment before replying, "Yes, I think you'd look better in a suit than in anything else, though I'm sure it wouldn't be as casually comfortable as you would want it to be, but at least you'd look pretty handsome." Her pale cheeks turned pink at his compliment and she giggled softly, scuffing one of her feet, unsure of how to repond.
The offered hand was taken with her own small hand, thinking him to be quite daringly cute. She did her best to not laugh at him, battling between finding him quite charming while also more than humorous. His final comment though turned the pink in her cheeks red and she stopped in her tracks, looking at him with a wide-eyed expression. Were little boys supposed to be saying stuff like that?

Farlest just shook his head, holding out his hands as though to pacify her. "It's all right!" He assured quickly, "really it is!" For the elf's part, he really didn't see why the woman was apologizing because her hair had the interesting ability to shift color and length. Grinning sheepishly, he ran a hand through his own hair, "That's quite a talent you have there."
Arius in his own turn, had the decency to duck his head in an embarrassed sort of motion, "Well...I guess I'll have to wear one sometime then." He said quietly, "If you wanted me to." Emphasis on the you.
He blinked back at her innocently when she stopped, "Well...you were worried about it, right?" As though all he'd had in mind had been reassuring her. Actually he was already elated that she hadn't smacked him yet. His father had informed that that was what happened to cheeky young males sometimes.

Cheeks flushed a deep red as she smiled and looked bashful, scuffing her foot slightly upon the floor and avoiding his gaze. "It's not really a talent I suppose. I was just born with it," she murmurred. Kitten couldn't help but let her smile grow a bit wider, she was just a tad vain about the ability she posessed, even if she was pretty embarrassed by it sometimes, afterall, it wasn't only her hair that could change.
Vanyel grinned happily at his reaction, though it certainly wasn't the haughty sort of smile. "Then it's a date," she chirped sweetly. "You'll wear a suit for me and I'll wear something that you want me to wear. Something that shows off my legs," the girl added the last phrase quickly and with a slight tint of pink to the tips of her ears. Vanyel certainly ment the date to be when they were both older, such as when Kitten would allow the scent to be out with boys alone.
At his question she blinked slyly before giving a noncommital shrug. "Maybe I just wanted to net you into complimenting me," she said with a giggle before giving his hand a tug and continuing on towards the parental figures. The scent thought that if she wandereing around in the unbought outfit much longer some saleswoman might come over and start bitching at her.

Farlest chuckled, "Well...it's quite amazing, I've known people who could shift, but I don't think they could do...what you're doing at will." He seemed more than a little bit intrigued by this new discovery. "So...is it just restricted to your hair or...?" He trailed off, the question evident enough.
Arius matched her grin, if anything, his was wider. "Sounds just splendid." He replied, tone sincere as a boy of his age could make it. Sometimes he could get away, was allowed to do things by himself with his father, but he knew that Farlest worried, and often came after him despite giving the scent permission, so it would most definitely have to wait.
Crimson gaze was confused as Ari glanced at her sharply, before he laughed, the nonplussed look replaced with delight. "Well, I guess I don't mind giving you what you want..." Seeing the parentals, he waved a hand, "Hey! Look! Doesn't Vanyel look pretty!!!"

Kitten's eyes widened at his words. She'd never met anyone who could change their form, whether by choice or not. My, it would be wonderful to be able to meet some of those people. Honestly it could get to be a little lonely without having anyone to talk to about certain things. With a breath of anxiety she smiled and shook her head. As she did so her hair fell out long and black, silky and parted a bit to the side. Eyes melted away the gray to reveal shocking green as her facial features sharpened. The most distinctive thing was the elf ears that now pointed out on either side of her head now. If Farlest ever wondered what he'd look like as a woman, well, he was looking at it.
The image lasted not even a moment before the hair was pink and curly, the ears gone and her eyes back to their gray shade, facial features back to what she'd been born to look like. "I can look like whatever I want..." she said, though that seemed a bit redundant now since she'd proved it first.
Vanyel giggled, putting her hand over her lips as she did so because a lady was supposed to be polite, wasn't she? Little did the kids know that given a few days Vanyel would have even better legs than she did now. Oh my. And then? Then Vanyel would just sit and wait impatiently for the other scent to grow up so she could claim a date from him.
His words were well chosen, in her opinion, and as she spotted Kitten and Farlest she smiled even widder and ran over to her guardian. "Kitten! I haaaaave to have this dress! Ari picked it out for me and it looks so good on me, don't you think? I refuse to leave without it," she finished with an air of finality, though she needn't have worried for Kitten completely agreed the girl deserved the lovely dress.

Farlest seemed infinitely bemused by that, and laughed warmly, watching with a childlike sort of wonder as her features became his own, albeit female. "It's been a while since I've seen myself as a woman, and I will have to say I like my own coloration better..." The elf made a face, "Last time a mage friend of mine gave me blond hair and blue eyes..." There had been a reason for it, but...
"That's most impressive..." He praised, before his attention was diverted by the arrival of the scents, come to show off. Oh...well then...it seemed that Arius hadn't done such a bad job after all. "Well well...it is a very lovely outfit, Vanyel...I must say it looks smashing." Farlest praised, wondering what Ari and the girl had talked about, as his own little scent seemed to be fairly glowing.
Arius beamed, and slid up to his guardian, "I did a good job?" A second's pause, "Does this mean I can get the jeans?"
Farlest rolled his eyes before he nodded. He'd give in...just this once... Who was he kidding?
That inspired a triumphant whoop from Arius, who glanced sidelong at Vanyel, "Successful shopping trip, yeah?"

Orange haired child beamed up at the elf with enthusiasm, twirling once on the balls of her feet to show off the dress entirely, though his words were accepted with only a silent thank you dancing in her eyes. Arius' words caused head to turn and peer in his direction, a sweet smile and a nod given for the other though his help had won him the verbal thanks Farlest did not recieve.
"Very successful, though I bet as soon as I get it home I spill something on it or ruin it in some other way," she said with a laugh, placing her hand over her mouth as she looked up at Kitten.
The woman groaned and rubbed at the bridge of her nose with a finger, "You better not you little scent-baby, I'm not buying you another dress and if you've got nothing better to wear I'll ship you right out of the house stark naked." Kitten wiggled her brows with playfully malicious intent before turning to smile over at Farlest. "It was very nice to meet you Farlest, I hope to see you again soon, though I'm sure that wont be a problem since your scent-baby seems to get along quite well with mine." The woman chucked as Vanyel shot her daggers. Scent-baby. What a horrid term.

Farlest seemed bemused by the exchange and held out his hand for his own scent to take, though he wondered if the child would or not. Male pride and all that. "It was indeed a pleasure to meet you, Kitten. And yes, we should indeed meet again so the children can visit, and I certainly wouldn't mind another chat between us as well."
Gaze swiveling to Arius, he nodded, "Fine, we'll buy the jeans...but don't expect me to splurge too much more this month, that's more than enough."
Arius let out a whoop of joy, "Yeah!" Waving enthusiastically at the other two, he allowed his guardian to drag him off, "See you later, Vanyel!!! It was fun!" Oh yes, he most definitely wanted to see her again, he'd thoroughly enjoyed his time with the girl, and she had immediately been firmly established in the ranks of Ari's favorite people.
