Currently I'm interested in the Morganville Vampire series, but I can't remember the author's name and I'm not at home so I can't look at the book. But it has two books out (Glass Houses and The Dead Girl's Dance) and I'm eagerly awaiting the third.

I've been reading several different series at once. I'm finally hooked on the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher but haven't seen the Sci Fi series yet. I have also been reading the Outlanders series by James Axler, pretty cool series, just have to track down all the books. I have 14 of those books so far. smile

Eclipse, by Stephanie Meyer. Although what I'm REALLY looking forward to from that particular author will be when she starts releasing the novels that in the Twilight series rewritten from Edward's point of view. LOVE that man!

Well, aside from Harry Potter...
I'd say my first obsession was likely the Nancy Drew series, but that doesn't really count right now.
A few years ago, I got extremely worked up about any Sue Henry mystery that involved Jessie Arnold (I still like to reread them, actually). All it took for this short-lasting 'obsession' was for me to buy one of her books, Death Trap. From there, I went out to the library and took out every single one I could get my hands on, and I believe I've read them all (some multiple times).
After that, I can't really say I got as obsessed about anything, but I did get fairly worked up after reading Target, by Catherine Coulter. We were away while I was reading it, and I started searching any bookstore I came across for her books (even bought my own copy of Target, in paperback. ninja ). From there, it was to the library for her mysteries (I don't care about her romances). I wasn't nearly as obsessed as with Sue Henry, though, since I still haven't read any book aside from Target all the way through.
Short series-wise, I really got into the Maximum Ride books. I still haven't read the third one (only because it's not out in paperback in the bookstore I want to get it from, and because my library doesn't have it yet), but I plan to.
At the moment, I'm busy constantly reading Angie Sage's Septimus Heap series. I finished reading book one (Magyk) the other day, and I'm 37 pages from the end of book two (Flyte). After that, it's on to the newest book, Physik.
When it comes to single books (not series), though...there are a lot. One that comes immediately to mind is Brother to Dragons, Companion to Owls.

I only read the first book (the second was boring... or at least didn't live up to the potential of the first) of The Wind Singer, but boy was it good! I miss it, perhaps I'll take it up again.

Okay, I know I already posted, but honestly, I can obsess over more than one series/book. This one is The Cry of the Icemark. Very good, even if it is only one book. (Don't know the author.)

I started reading the Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor. So far I've only read the first one in the series, but I really enjoyed it. Another book that I'd want to push on my friends, but that they'd probably never read is The Last Summer of You and Me. This was a pretty good book. I got annoyed at one character, but I really liked it otherwise.

For me, right now it'd probably be Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, by Rick Riordan. I've read the first three The Lightening Thief, Sea of Monters, & Titans Curse. (Yes, they are in order!) I want to read the next one so bad!
