Kizu had to fold her ears back the lion's roar was so loud. Yet another reminder that if this lion had an agressive personality, she wouldn't ever be able to drive him off her lands. She was just grateful that he wasn't like that- though she'd run into quite a number that were.

"Yeah, we can be friends. You don't have to go right now, you know," She said before she could stop herself. Kizu had a reputation to keep up- one of a cold-hearted solitary creature what only wanted stuff for herself. And here she was, asking the lion to stay before she could stop herself. She'd been growing soft these days... perhaps she needed to steal more stuff.

"Oh! Oh... right..." He grinned sheepishly and ducked his head. "Later then!" He bounded up beside her and looked at the horizon. "So uh... Kizu... You said something about trees. Can you really climb them?" He looked excited at the prospect of seeing her being able to do such a thing. After all, he couldn't do it.

"Oh, yes, of course!" Kizu said confidently. She was faster in the trees than on ground, as most leopards were. "I could show you," she said, heading off towards the nearest tree, which fortunately happened to be quite a ways away from her "base" tree.

As she approached she picked up a little speed, just enough to get the right amount of momentum for the branch she was aiming for. When she lept up the tree and started her ascent, it would seem like she was just running vertically- the leopardess was skilled in the area of controlling her body. It wasn't long before she was looking down at the green and brown lion from a tree branched, draped as she had been earlier in the day. "It's quite simple after years of learning," She called down from the tree.

The lion could only gape in amazement. She'd... flown... His tail flickered back and forth as his shock slowly morphed into a wide grin. That was so cool... Nyack threw back his head and started to walk backward.

Once he felt he had enough distance, he wriggled his butt in the air and exploded into a run. Now! He jumped, paws out stretched, aiming for the branch... only to collide with the actual tree trunk. He sank to the ground and groaned slightly.

Ow.

Kizu gave a smug grin from her tree branch. "I don't think lions can do it- they weigh too much." She said. "At least, not as quickly and gracefully, and definitely not as high. Besides, it takes the average leopard a while until they can get the hang of it," she said, peering through the leaves. She decided that it was unfair for her to be so high up, so, in yet another fluid motion, the leopardess lept onto two lower branches, then made the jump to the ground, that smirk still etched across her muzzle.

"I can do it...." He answered back.

Nyack got up and shook his head to clear it. When she jumped down he backed up, did the same maneuver and leap again, once again colliding. Yet again he picked himself up and ran back farther before charging again. If she could do it HE could do it. He pushed off the ground with his haunches as hard as he could and reached out for the branch. His claws scrapped the lowest branch before he was cast to the ground again. The wind shaking the leaves with laughter at the lion.

Kizu didn't want to see the lion launch himself again and again at the tree's trunk. "Hey! Watch again, you need to angle yourself more upward, and be ready to hug the tree when you reach it. The speed helps you to stick more than get up the tree, in the beginning. Once you get that down, you can build up speed when climbing," Kizu instructed. "Watch-" and with that, she launched herself up the tree, trying to go a bit slower so he could observe how she did it. She climbed to a higher branch so that Nyack could get on one that would support his weight. "Now try, that should help," she said to the lion below.

Nyack watched the performance. Oh...! He backed up with a grin and ran as fast as he could, angling himself upward as he jumped. His body wrapped around the branch as he made contact, it sagging a little under his weight. The lion had his eyes closed waiting for the ground to make friends with his face again then blinked. No pain? As he looked down a large grin crossed his face, like a cub that just learned to roar.

"I did it..." He said in a mutter still staring starry-eyed at the ground. "I did it!" This time he looked up at the leopard with un-contained joy. He'd done something right!

Kizu smiled. "That you did, what do you think of things from up here?" She asked. She was determined, however, not to teach him to climb too much higher. Not that he could, really, there weren't many trees that could hold a lion's weight. Kizu was light, lighter, even, than the typical leopard. She could go higher than most because of it, she loved the edge the gods had given to her.

"I don't think you can climb much higher, though," she told him, hoping he wouldn't question her opinion.

"Its amazing!" He replied, his tail lashing back and forth in excitement. The lion was in awe at how different things looked merely one branch up. With a bit of laughter he looked up at the leopard. "Oh... Its alright! I'm happy here!" He answered resting his head down on the branch.

"Thank you for teaching me this."

"Yeah, no problem," Kizu said. She wondered why she'd been growing soft recently. She wasn't entirely sure she liked it. It was bound to give away some of her information- not to mention give away some of her treasures... She couldn't have that. What would she do now though?

Her situation was so awkward... what would she do? Right now she'd hold her tongue.

The lion sensed the awkward silence and bounded from the branch, feeling the safety of the Earth under his paws. "I'm going to go get you something to eat... like I promised." With that he was off. He hoped he could catch something good for the female leopard. He had to show his gratitude somehow!

"Alright," Kizu said, feeling more like herself. She was always game for some personal gain. She rose, stretched her back, and hopped down onto the ground, sitting to watch the lion hunt. She had no intentions of helping him... After all, the meal was a gift for her. She watched Nyack bound off.

Nyack searched through the grass, keeping low so his mane didn't give him away. As he crept, his eyes narrowed into his slits. A low growl rumbled in his throat as he approached a lone zebra. Where was its herd and why was it by itself? He didn't know or care. It was his.

He lifted his paw to avoid a twig and tensed his muscles for the oncoming lunge. His shy and timid nature disappeared as his instincts took over, pressing him down further as, the creature scanned the area before dipping down for more grass. Nyack's muscles began to hurt as they became more and more ready for the blow.

He leaped, crashing both him and the Zebra to the ground beneath them. The struggle seemed to last forever as hooves, whinnies, growls, and fang all clashed in the air. Finally, it ended. Nyack stood triumphant over his prey, with gashes across his muzzle and thigh. He roared loudly to keep the already creeping vultures away and grabbed its leg, dragging it toward the waiting leopardess.

Kizu rather enjoyed this whole thing, a smile crossed her face. She had done nothing, and was getting an entire zebra out of it. These were the days she lived for. The leopardess strode confidently to the zebra and dug in immediately. Not a single thank-you, but she thought that it would be implied in her fervent eating, if that was what the male wanted.

She found no reason to give anything back. She always took- took as much as she could and never gave back. That's the way Kizu saw the world. The leopardess' eyes glimmered with delight at the taste of a free meal.
