[PWG] Moki I don't drink *throws up the triple x's* I use to but I gave it up, I was an angry drunk. Every once-in-awhile I'll cheat on the 'Edge lifestyle and have a Champaign or another light alcohol...but that's only on special occasions, and only to fall in line with the peer pressure...but I don't really drink anymore, as I've already said...I was a pissy drunk. Just so you know being straight edge /=/ not drinking or smokeing. There is more to is then that.....

Yes, it came out of Punk rock music but that is the core of what it takes to be Edge. There are spin-off factions from 'Edge that abstain from caffeine, casual sex, are atheists, and practice vegetarianism and anarchy...but the original Straight Edge as established by Minor Threat is simply no smoke, no booze, no drugs...That is the lifestyle I follow. Do some research before you criticize someone's knowledge on a subject, also helps if you're sober when you walk into a debate xp

You walked into it dude. My thread, and it had nothing to do with straight edges before you started in.
Regradless, straight edge started becuase some dumb ******** thought they were better then everyone else because they were to poor to buy beer at a show.
I've never net a straight edge who lacks a "I'm better then you" complex.

You dont drink enough then.A bottle of Jager= a very happy Raven. Eh? I don't drink enough? A quart of Smirnoff Blue isn't enough? Well damn, I guess I'll be happy to not drink enough and not get a hangover. I think a liter of 50% alcohol is fine enough.

For the record, I'm straightedge but would have a "better than you" complex even if I wasn't. I follow the basic, Minor Threat form of straightedge, that is, no smoking, no drinking, no drugs.

But in all honesty, I don't drink often, but do if there's an occasion. I find in University there are a lot of occasions that call for drinking sweatdrop

To hell with everything. Just do whatever makes you happy is what I say. If you don't want to drink, smoke, or have sex, then by all means, go for it. Myself on the other hand likes to indulge in the occasional cigarette or cigar, drink around friends, and have sex like I'm unleashing some hells hounds, but hey... It's alright.

You started the debate homie, all I said was "I don't drink *throws up triple x* you were the one that wanted to challenge the lifestyle by telling me I'm not 'Edge. Straight Edge was started when Minor Threat began performing in Night Clubs and Bars. It was never about being better then everyone else, it was about keeping your mind clear. Grant it, there are those who do see themselves as superior, but they have those types of people in every sub-group. Even among internet junkies there are elitist snobs. So you can't generalize the entire label just because of a few bad apples. I have a lot of stoner friends, actually a majority of my close relations are downing beers night after night, lighting up in their work-place bathroom, and poppin' whatever they fell like...Doesn't bother me, that stuff just isn't for me. So you've officially met an 'Edger who doesn't have the 'better then you' complex. I just say 'do what you wana do' who cares what anyone else thinks. I don't drink because I was an angry drunk, I don't smoke because I've never liked it, simple as that...I have nothing against those who do.

I'm straightedge. Not cause I'm 13 and too young, but because I don't want to poison myself with that crap. The only person in my immediate family who does either is my dad who drinks a little. A beer or two a week, maybe. I don't like that he even has one though.
I'm not going to say I'm straight edge, nor am I going to say i'm better than you guys, I'm just going to say I'm too smart to start. And I hope I stay that way when I'm older and near to that crap. Cause, when I'm 21, if I start, I'd probably have trouble quitting.

And no, she wasn't talking about the time spent drinking. She said "You don't drink enough.", not "You don't drink early enough."
