She laughed softly, more to herself than anything, and looked up at the stars for a moment. "If only the comfort of those to watch out for us was afforded to everyone. Someone as to do the watching and there is rarely someone to watch out for the watcher." She knew that truth far closer than most. Someone had to be the protector no matter if the protector fell as long as they fell for those they were protecting. It hurt to think of but she couldn't let it overwhelm her.
"Nostalgia and her little ones?" She doubted the stallion would have left them alone. He just didn't seem the type.

"Every now and then someone watches out for the watcher... If only from above." He nodded slowly as he took a moment to glance up at the stars. "Sometimes it is only a matter of believing that one is being watched that gives them the courage to go on with what they believe is the right thing."
He took a deep breath, releasing it slowly as he glanced back at the mare. "Yes, Nostalgia and her little ones... Although they aren't so little anymore. They grow so fast. Even Altair, as much of a little devil as he is, grows quickly. Time passes us by so fast... We never realize just what is gone until it is, just that, gone."

"The spirits watch out for us all." Even if sometimes their watching out for one caused the pain of another. "Generally it is the belief that what i am doing is the right thing that keeps me going." Her right and someone else's right could be completely different but she tried to keep that out of her mind.
"She seems like a wonderful friend" She liked Nostalgia from what she'd gotten to see of her so far. Two kind souls seemed like the perfect ones to be together. The foals that they raised must be wonderful children.
"Time is a perfect lover and a cruel mistress."

"If I didn't believe in my actions I wouldn't have made it nearly as far as I have. We stand by our convictions and do as we feel we are guided to do so." He sighed softly, letting his eyes close for a moment. There were so many questions he had... Just as there had been questions for the Cursed. This time he would keep them to himself.
"She is. All of those who have found their way into my life have been wonderful friends. Nostalgia, Fortune..." He had a herd again; something to protect and care for in an attempt to right the wrongs of the past.
"If time were the perfect lover it would never pass on."

"Not all do sadly. There are many who come to the end of their road and find themselves wishing for the paths they did not take, for the questions they never asked, for the things they never said." She had seen too many begging for one last chance to do something only to have the Spirits deny them. The spirits only allowed you one chance to make a choice and you had to be strong enough to live with it.
"Perfection does not exist. Only the ability to accept flaws." If things were perfect no one would ever have to encounter sadness. If things were perfect she wouldn't be here.

He fell silent as he listened to the mare's words, letting the truth of them sink in. He had learned those lessons on his own, one by one. He lived well with what he knew from the life that, through death, had left him behind... Or had he left it behind? He lived with what had happened and it had left its mark on him as all things, good or bad, were known to do.
Taking a deep breath he released it slowly before speaking. "Ah, but that is where you contradict yourself... You were the one who called time a perfect lover, Kochu'Akai." A slight smile cuved the corners of his mouth, tugging his odd markings in a strange way. "Flaws make us who we are."

"I called time two things which put together show the flaws in calling time either." She'd said it many times and had always gotten the same answer. No one had ever seen it the way she did and she expected it to continue that way as long as she lived.
She was used to it by now. Life leaving the marks on her it had she knew that sometimes she wasn't meant to be understood. It calmed her in a way to know that and to know that even in not being understood others could still come to call her a friend.

"I call no one 'Mistress' nor 'Master'." He shook his head slowly. He wold never submit his will to anything. Agree to something as an equal, yes... But never would he give in to the bindings of Time, or any other 'master'. One day he would make his own time and, in it, everything would be right again... One day.

She nodded slightly before looking up at the stars. She had heard others say the same thing only to crumble under the demands of a statement. Draven seemed strong but now long could he really uphold that? How long had he already?

"Those who seek to control or break the wills of others to lord over them are weak... Too weak to create a name for themselves through anything other than instilling fear. Someone has to stand against them.. If someone doesn't then who will?" He had to stand up for the things that he had always believed in; the things that she had believed in along with him.
"The world is always moving... But someone has to stand still."

Red eyes turned back to him with a curious look. "And you would stand up to those even if you must stand alone?" She could see the answer already but something had propelled her to ask him.
"No .... never alone. Someone is always with you." She could sense it. No matter how alone he seemed, even without the Crow as a companion, he was not alone.

"I would." He nodded slowly, glancing up at the stars for a moment before turning so that he could meet the mare's crimson gaze with his own pale eyes. "The Spirits of those who have left this world are always with us... Even in our darkest hours... Even if we cannot see them or feel them. They're there." He had to believe that, even if it wasn't true. It was not something he was willing to see any other way.

"I know..." The spirits from her past were always with her reminding her that she was on the right path. They reminded her that she'd chosen the right thing and that no matter what she wasn't as alone as it looked.
She had never met any others that seemed to hold any ideals as close to hers but it seemed that in this small herd she'd found two. It was an odd thought and she wondered idly if she would be welcome should she wander off and find her way back some day.

He fell silent once more as he closed his eyes, feeling the pain of his loss just as clearly as if it had just happened. He stood still, head hanging low as he revisited the past; hearing laughter and joy along with the sorrow that came soon after. He heard her voice... And then, in the distance, he heard the low rumble of thunder.
Opening his eyes he glanced up to the sky. Once filled with bright, sparkling stars he could now see rain clouds moving in from the distance. He turned towards the mare. "... Do you have shelter from the storm?"

She looked up at the sound of thunder, distracted from thinking about what Draven could be thinking, and shook her head. "Not truely but i do not think it will be hard to find some." She flickered her wings. "So long as i get somewhere before it drenches me."
Unfortunately being given the ability to fly didn't give her the ability to do so in a storm. Wet wings never worked right.
