Pakpao hadn't the faintest idea just how many Kelpi existed now. She knew some still dwelled with the Merlocks, but she'd have nothing to do with neither those Kelpi, nor the Merlocks.
She opened her mouth to agree with the stallion, when she found herself letting out a large sigh as he whinnied his 'cute' comment towards her. Did the stallion really take anything seriously?
She sighed and shook her head, unable to do anything but grin. In her side vision, she spotted her large resting rock, and turned to walk towards it. As much as she'd like to be able to keep herself afloat, she was unable to without elegant fins on her side like Kuval had. So instead, she preferred to lay down on her favorite rock when she no longer felt like standing.
Making her way in the direction of the boulder, she listened as he spoke of his peaceful past, and wondered what it'd be like to live in a lake. Noisy, she bet, with all the two leggers and land dwellers wandering about nearby. Noise was not for her, she liked her peace and quiet.
Reaching the rock, she stepped on it and plopped down, her front two legs dangling off the edge. If Kuval followed, he followed, and if he didn't, he didn't. It really didn't matter which he decided to do, in her opinion. Well....
She winced. Was she actually hopeful that he'd follow and keep her company? That was nonsense. She was used to being alone, so why the sudden hope for someone to talk to?
"If I get the urge to talk, I'll talk." she grumbled, turning to watch the stallion's moves. "Being alone doesn't bother me. How can you be bothered when there's nothing there to hurt you, nothing there to offend you, nothing there to keep you from doing whatever it is you want to do?"

Kuval raised a brow as he saw the female walk away from him. Was he really THAT boring?
But, to his suprise, she was only resting on a rock, and he almost let out a sigh of relief when he noticed her longing for him to follow. He swished his body into a quick swim so he was now at the same distance as before, but near the rock.
"Ah, but what a sad way to live life." he soothed, lowering his eyes in a lazy matter. "We have been given an opportunity to make ourselves known, and you wish to keep yourself hidden from conflict? I think if anything, we are blessed with the gift of conflict! I have had many conflicts that have helped me grow as an individual, and I wouldn't change my past in the slightest way."
(And so he went on one of his rants again -- )
"Being hurt is actually a marvelous feeling, whether it is physical or emotional. It is so random- so.. unpredictable, that it can actually be quite life saving! For example, Pakuu dear, why not take that horrible incident from your past, and use it to better your life. Everything we do comes from experience, and rather then hiding from something, it is always better to want to experience more!"
He gleamed and wagged his body, wondering if his speech had affected her at all. "Besides, there is only so much comfort that yourself could give.. there is a point when we all get lonely." He let his eyes trail to hers again, and he tilted his head affectionately. "Don't let yourself just, waste away.."

She smiled as he trailed behind, making his way towards her rock. She couldn't help but giggle at the way he swam back and forth. Pakpao wasn't used to seeing other Kelpi, and thus, watching an underwater horsefish swim around was quite an amusing sight, especially to one who had no large fins on her side herself.
She listened intently on what he had to say, trying to comprehend his way of thinking. It was almost amusing, how different his thoughts were to her, and it made her feel awkward, having chosen the path she had taken. As if she were someone to be pitied.
Feeling restless, she rolled over and stared at the upside down Kuval, enjoying the weightless feeling her legs felt as they floated in the water.
"I've had the opportunity to make myself known." she interjected, making a little hmph sound after her statement. "And it's not all that it's cracked up to be. I gave it a shot, and what did it get me? It almost could have killed me, that's where it got me."
She rolled herself back over and stood on the ground. Stepping back up on the rock, she towered over where Kuval stood, looking down on him.
"Being hurt was by no means marvelous. It was shameful, humiliating, and it hurt both physically AND emotionally. I should think that anyone wanting, desiring, expecting feelings as such are nothing but crazy!"
Her words calmed down from their emotional rage, and she leaned down, coming eye to eye with him. "I'm not wasting away. I'm preventing myself from further pain and suffering. Can't you understand that?"

"Ooh the view is even nice upside down!" He chuckled and watched the floating Pakpao bounce in the water. Her scales shined so differently then his own did, he found himself staring at them while she would speak.
"Crazy? If anything, it just made me feel more alive." he let his tone drift to a more serious one, and he eyed her calmly. "Its not that I asked for those things, but I didn't reject pain when it happened. I didn't deny it a part of my life. I just learned from it and got better."
Her words almost sounded distasteful, and he glared back at her emotional response. "Suffering? You will suffer ten times more when you realize how much you miss in this world by being alone."
Kuval was an enthusiast, and he just wouldn't have Pakpao think this way anymore! "It seems as though your mind is so very bent on the wrong thing, and that is frustrating Pakuu. What am I going to do with you." he sighed and rolled his eyes, feeling wordless at the very thought. "Its frustrating, you should see that you are better then what you kept implying. You have a bright personality, definitely one that should not sit alone for the rest of its life."
He turned his body away from her and wagged his fins into the water to make himself float. "This is making me frustrated. I know I am still new to you, but I am only trying to help." he said, while steering his eyes away from hers. He hated arguments, especially when he truly knew he was right. Pakpao just wouldn't get it, though.

She drew quiet, watching him as he spoke. She could tell she was frustrating him, and hated the fact she was making another creature upset. Yet another reason why she should be left alone, she figured.
"But... if you're alone, you can't hurt anyone else." she pointed out softly.
She paused, shook off the gloomy feeling, and, after taking a few steps back, took a flying leap off of the rock and over Kuval. The Kelpi loved the feeling of the water keeping her lifted up, and she sailed further off, until her weight sent her back down towards the ocean floor. Turning around, she gave the stallion a grin as she cocked her head.
"If I'm frustrating you," she commented, trying to sound cheerful, "Then why aren't you leaving? I don't understand why you'd want to help me to begin with. I'm just like you said... an old hag that'll eventually turn into a rock."
She sent him a quick wink, hoping to give him a taste of his own medicine, and trotted back up to where he stood, staring directly into his eyes. Pakpao didn't understand why he'd bother with her to begin with, but she had to admit that the conversation was pretty entertaining for her, despite their obvious differences in opinion.

Kuval watched her almost fly over him, and the words she spoke made him understand the situation better.
Finally, Pakpao started to reveal herself and her emotions! It made it easier for Kuval to understand her.
"No, I said if you don't wake up and really see what's going on, then you will turn into a rock." He sighed but brought his sheepish grin back on his face. "How many more speeches and headaches do I need to give you until you listen?" Obviously, MANY more!
Ahh well, Kuval had had a bit of a strange moment with Pakpao, and to no ones suprise in his next words he was about to shift direction in the conversation once again.
"So why doesn't a gal like you have a boyfriend? Why don't you go flirt around like all of those other Soquili mares." He nosed a chuckle and playfully rolled around in the water. "You should try flirting, it might liven you up a bit! You have to be nice to stallions though, you should really practice."
He somehow knew that she would get angry at that comment..

"Every headache you give me, I'll make sure to pay it back tenfold with a bite or kick," she threatened, eyeing him warily with her indigo orbs.
Her head tilted in confusion as he broached the next subject, her fins gently swaying with the ocean's current.
"B...boyfriend?", she stammered, shifting her weight from one leg to the other. "If I'm all alone all the time... why would I have a boyfriend?"
Her cheeks reddened once again, and her lips drew into a scowl as she watched him roll around in the water. "I don't have any reason to flirt! It's just a waste of time and emotions. It's not like it'd get me anywhere at all, and what's the point of it anyways?!"

"Pakuu, you look so much better with flushed cheeks! It suits you, and is very adorable!" he laughed to himself and watched her roll into a fuss once again. "I dunno, some people just find creepy boyfriends to fit their creepy selves?" He put a stupid smile on his face, expecting her to really get angry from that comment.
"How is flirting a waste of time?" He raised a brow, and watched her scowl terribly at him. "Well, people flirt for many reasons, like getting to know someone better, or showing that they are in to another romantically.."
He was about to continue but instead he curled his mouth into an even dumber grin. "Ooh, so are you one of those people that pretends they hate flirting but instead is a superflirt in secret? Aww, Pakuu is such a mystery woman!"
Of course, he knew all of this would drive her nuts, but it was better to see Pakpao not depressed on these subjects matters, and to hopefully see a different light along the way.
"As you can tell, I am a wonderful flirt." He bumped out his shoulders and grinned in a confident glaze. "Since my talking skills are top notch, my lady talking skills are even better!" With his tongue hanging out of his mouth, he awaited to see her reaction. "I am sure you could tell from the second I approached you what I stud I am!"

Pakpao's cheeks grew even redder and she snorted out of frustration, the bubbles tickling her nostrils as they fled from her nose and sailed up towards the water's surface.
"Why would anyone want to flirt, when they could be enjoying the serene quiet life of the ocean floor? There's more to life than just mating and flirting, you know."
Her eyes rolled as he accused her of being a 'superflirt', whatever the heck that was. Well, whatever it was, she surely wasn't one, if anything, but because he accused her of being one!
Her face drew a puzzled expression, though, as he continued on with his monologue.
"... Lady skills?" she mused, almost afraid to bring up the subject. "What in the world are lady skills?"

Kuval inched closer, and put one of his fins on her back comfortably. "There really isn't!" He exclaimed, almost too energetically. "We are made to do those things, you know. How can you deny such wonderful desires given to us as creatures?" Maybe Pakpao had just never found love? Kuval would never admit to such, but he was the same way. He just boasted as if he knew everything as usual.
With a raised eyebrow, he grinned but swam away from Pakpao again, mainly out of the hope of not to get kicked or anything. "Be it talking, friendship, or loving.." he paused, but still held his usual smirk. "I dapple in the art of all of those things."
Poor Pakpao, what on earth did she do all day.. sit under a rock?!?!
"You need to experience more things, you can't just hang around this territory forever. You'll probably go crazy if you did." And that just wouldn't suit her at all!

Her own eyebrow rose and she was tempted to lash out against the stallion who dared to touch her. As if he knew what she was thinking, he was swimming off before she could bring her thought to action.
"I can deny those wonderful feelings just as I can deny being this... superflirt you say I am." she responded dryly in return, pawing at the ocean's floor with one hoof.
"And I'm happy hanging around my territory... SOME of us weren't born with fancy fins to swim around the ocean with, you know."
Her eyes narrowed and her head turned back to examine her bare sides. Unlike her stallion companion, the mare had no pretty fins to help push her around in the water. And therefore, she preferred lurking and walking about in the same place, day and night. No sense in going and getting lost somewhere deep in the ocean, after all.

"See, you are so rigid, Paku!" He sighed and shook his head, and let his feel float now in the water. "Everything doesn't have to always be so.. easy, you know?" He wondered if that made sense to her, and he shook his head. "Its ok to have a challenge, or something different. It keeps us moving and on our feet! Everything doesn't have to be so plain or, thought out all the time.."
Ah well, maybe some minds just didn't desire that kind of life? But for some same reason, Kuval just got the idea that Pakpao did. She just needed some good ol' convincing!
"Fins or not, you are still in the water, aren't you? Why not wander?" He shook his head and wiggled his own, wondering why the heck she always fought everything. "Just.. chill?" His words were calm, and he rolled onto his back almost to show her what being relaxed was like.
"Yeah, this is the life." he said, reassuringly.

"Frigid?" She asked, her ears perking. "You think I'm.... frigid?"
Her head lowered itself, and she thought over his words. True, she hadn't been exactly friendly towards him... but did she really deserve that kind of description? Frigid was so harsh, after all... was she really that bad?
Her chin rose... she wasn't going to let his words get the best of her.
"You know what, Kuval?" she asked, meeting with his gaze once again as she trotted up towards him, "You're right. I do need to chill."
She suppressed a grin from within. Maybe this turn of attitude would throw the stallion off guard.

Kuval tilted his head from his upside down position and blinked lazily. "Heh, well what is this? Is this.. chill for you? Come on babe, you are trying to hard! Just relax from within!"
He hummed to himself and back-peddled with his legs, making small circles from around Pakpao. Her chilling out was something that she had to learn herself, and Kuval felt sort of worried since well.. from the looks of things she rarely relaxed!
"Hopefully my rantings have helped convince you about all of life's small pleasures?" he grinned, and wiggled his fins playfully. Hopefully next time I see you, you will have some new concepts grasped?" Ah yes, that would be goof for her, wouldn't it?
He flipped himself over on his normal side, and smiled one last time. "Ah well, I enjoyed your company very much. I just hope one day you will enjoy mine!" And with that, he chuckled and started to swim off. "Later Paku dear!!" And in a matter of seconds, he was off in his own world again!
