Kayne breathed in deeply at her question and shifted to lean back on his elbows, stretching his legs out.
"The guys were acting like arses in the locker room, talking about the girls they would do and why and your name came up. Coach had walked in when one of the guys was saying he thought you'd be like an alley cat and he piped up and said you were more like a Tom cat because you knew what you wanted. He went on to say you were the best lay he had had in a long time and that it was obvious you were... experienced," he said looking down at his feet. "I told him to shut up and to not talk about you like that. Ra told me to just leave it, and I was, but then he went on to say you were good, but not that good.... a bit like the village bike," he said softly, his hands clenched tightly at the thought of what had happened. "That's when I lost it. I didn't mean to, but he wouldn't stop," he said looking up at her.

Jess listened to him and swallowed. She might try and act tough, but she really was only human.
"Why." She said, swallowing and closing her eyes for a moment. "Why do I do it?" She asked, looking away as her voice wobbled a bit. "I could have just crashed on his sofa and thought nothing more of it. But no." She breathed deeply and sniffed a little. "He was right though wasn't he. I am a total bike. It's not really hard to get me into bed is it."

Kayne frowned as he heard the tremble in her voice and he quickly sat back up. Reaching out, he placed his hand gently on her cheek to turn her face towards him.
"You are -not- a bike Jess. Men like him are bloody pigs and don't deserve the women they seduce. Too many of them are worth so much more than the bastards will ever know. Who cares if you enjoy sex? Who doesn't? That doesn't mean you deserve to have your private life spread around like that. I could have killed him for defiling you the way he did, especially in front of the morons that make up the soccer team. Bloody bastards, all of them," he said, holding her eyes with his.

Jess reached up and brushed the tears from her eyes with the palm of her hand.
"But I feel like such a fool. i actually liked him. When will I grow up and stop making these stupid decisions. I'm fed up of it Kayne, I'm twenty seven and I'm bloody fed up of handing myself up as a doormat. The best bloody relationship I've had was with you and I ******** that up too." She said, shifting away from him and wrapping her arms around her knees again. "I have no one."

The barest hint of a smile tugged at the corner of his lips as she said her best relationship had been with him. He had to admit, he felt the same. But then she pulled away and he frowned a little again. Moving closer to her whether she wanted him to or not, he slipped his arm around her slender shoulders and pulled her up against him.
"From what you just said, you weren't handing yourself to him as a doormat Jess. Maybe at first, but in the end he's just a bloody b*****d and you're better off finding out now before you get too attatched," he said softly, rubbing her arm gently. "It just sounds like you have a knack for attracting total tossers love. Me included," he smirked a little and looked down at her with a small wink.

Jess smiled softly snd rested her head against him. See, why out of all the people in the world did he have to be th one to make her feel best about herself.
"Yeah, I need to do something about that." She said with a smirk, sniffing and wiping her eyes again. "And, you're not a tosser hon. You very easily could have been one but you've changed. It suits you." She sighed and looked up to the sky for a moment.
"Let's go somewhere." she said, looking back at him with a smile. "I'll bet this all looks good from the beach."

Kayne gave a snort of laughter and watched her in the moonlight as she turned her eyes back up to the sky. She was really so beautiful. It really wasn't a wonder why the guys had brought her name up, but still...
"Sure. I haven't been to the beach in ages. Plus, I'll get to ride in that swish new car of yours," he smirked and gave her a little squeeze before rising and holding his hand out to help her up as well.

Jess parked the car by the ice cream parlor and jumped out into the cool air. She loved the beach. It was home to so many memories. Good and bad.
"Ive been hearing a lot about you." She smirked setting foot on the cool sand and enjoying the feel of it. "Campus Casanova. makes me proud as your Mrs Robinson style mentor." she winked and walked down to the sea.

Kayne laughed as he closed the car door and started to follow after her.
"Well, I did learn a lot," he smirked as he slipped his hands into his pockets, keeping a bit behind her as they walked. "It's all just good fun though," he said with a small shrug. "Might as well sample around until I find someone worth the effort," he smirked looking down at the sand as they walked. So many memories started to flood back to him and this time he welcomed them with open arms.

Jess smirked as he spoke and kept going until the sea washed over her toes. It was cold and refreshing. She smiled feeling contented for a moment.
"Ah yes. The joy of being male." She smirked. "Though I am a little suprised. You were always so into the relationship side of things. I expected you to be all cosy like Kusani by now." she smirked over her shoulder at him before turning her eyes to the sea.

Kayne gave a snort of laughter and bent down to roll up the bottom of his jeans so he could join her with his feet in the cool water.
"Well, maybe I just haven't been able to find anyone I like enough to start a relationship with. I tried a few times, but they just never worked out. Some of us just aren't that lucky to get it right the first time like Kusani and my sister," he said, looking down at the water as it washed over his feet. But he had been, he thought silently. Even after two years, it still bothered him the way things had ended between him and Jess.

Kayne smirked as she turned around to face him and arched his brow as she said it had been an apology. Giving a bit of a laugh, he looked off across the waves and shrugged a little.
"You did what you had to do Jess. In a lot of ways, it was probably for the best at the time. I just..." he started then stopped. Smirking, he looked back at her. "Well, anyways, your apology is accepted. No big deal, alright? We can still be friends," he smiled, though he wanted so much more.

Jess looked up as he started to speak. She was not sure what she wanted him to say but it wasnt what ended up coming from his mouth.
"Yeah, friends." She said quietly wrapping her arms arnund herself.
It was for the best. Right. People would never accept them.
"I got a new place." She said with a smile. "want to see it when we are done here?"

Kayne heard the note of melancholy in her voice and watched her hug herself. That was what she had wanted to hear from him, right? Continuing to watch her a moment longer, a soft smile spread across his lips as he nodded.
"Yeah. I'd like that," he smiled. "We could go now if you'd like. Unless if you'd rather stay a bit longer."
