I don't know what the fued is exactly but I don't like it. I too love both Korea and Japan and I think they should settle their differences. I think it's just the classic issue of not letting go of the past.

I live in Kyoto, Japan and I am Japanese-Korean, I despise the feud going on and the idiots who make biased and unfair comments about the Japanese or vice versa.

the thing is that the older generations have a grudge on the japanese. as you can see during the end of the 19th century Japan took over Korea. From the late 1800's till the mid 1900's Koreans were forced to speak Japanese and forbidden to teach, read, or speak Korean. During World War II, young girls were even taken from their homes and given to the Japanese soldiers. Koreans were used for medical tests : research and concoctions were inserted into them and their reactions to them were observed. they were used as "lab rats" you can say. I'm not being prejudiced or anything but this stuff really happened.

nowadays, korea and japan are arguing about the possession of a certain island off the coast of Korea. there were many disputes similiar to this one over the past century.

it is good to have peace in the world but you have to understand that certain events lead to grudges, and these grudges tend to pass on to future generations.

damn right. i mean, if sum people whose history r far late than ures come n take over ure country, disband ure military, destroy ure beliefs, alter ure culture, plant bullfrogs in the ecosystem, n stick a needle in ure a** 4 over 30 years, wouldnt u at least go completley insane with vengeance? in fact if japan didnt do those things, there probably wouldnt even be a north or south korea, but juss one. but there's also good changes in korean history. but its a long one.

Korea and Japan won't be getting along til the racism dies down. What Japan did to us was horrible, and it was our holocaust. But still..we should forgive them....it'd be nice if I could go to Japan and not be hated for being Korean

Well, the problem with prejudice against Japanese from Koreans and vice versa, is that some kids, they don't even know the reasons why their parents or grandparents or whoever hate Japan or Korea. They just know that Japan or Korea is being hated by their ancestors or friends or whatever, so they just hate the countries along with them.

Also, about the island thing, I understand why Japan wants it, AND hwy Korea wants it. Well, Japan was the first country to LEGALLY claim that island years ago. But Koreans have been living there a really long time. So it's kind of like a fight between LAW and TRADITION (or whatever word you use for it).

Speaking of Dok-do (I don't know the spelling), I heard this one joke about it. Okay, so here it is:

(There are both Koreans and Japanese in this school thing, learning Chinese, so their only communication is through Chinese, which they're not GREAT at.)

*So they're talking, and the subject of their conversation reaches Dok-do, the island*

Korean1: Dok-do is Korean! (in Chinese, of course)
Japanese1: No, DAKESHIMA (sp? wait, I'm not even sure of the word...) is Japanese!
*And they keep fighting like that*
Korean2: Hey, do your cell phones work in Dok-do? Ours do!
*And the Koreans win the fight.*

lol I know that it probably won't be very funny, but it was to me when I first heard it... I laugh a lot, so..

Well, I'm sorry if I'm taking up to much space for pointless things that I had to say..( crying )
