The scrawny little pup felt a bit better now that Ibada was speaking quieter. And the apology was also a good thing, he thought. It had to be.. right? "You mean it? You're sorry? You're not angry?" In his mind, Ibada being less angry meant there was less chance he'd end up hurting Ilizi.

"You have a mama?" That was the only part Ilizi focused on, and it made the smaller pup raise his head from his tail. Oh, what he'd give to know why his mother left him curled up in a patch of long grass and never returned. What he'd give to feel safe under her protection again.

"No, I'm not angry," he assured Ilizi, tilting his head and continuing to stare curiously at the pup. He couldn't explain his fascination with the stranger, he felt kind of bad for him.

"Yeah, don't you have a mama?" Ibada asked, sounding surprised that Ilizi asked specifically about his mother. If the pup didn't have a mother, that might explain a lot.

The little, undersized pup nodded slowly. "Good," he murmured in reply. "It's always bad when someone's angry with me. That's when I get hurt." He was very afraid of raised voices, and anger; strangers who had tried to harm him had always shouted first. He couldn't remember what they'd said so loudly, but he assumed all shouting was bad.

His eyes dropped sadly, and one paw reached out to poke despondently at a little pebble in front of him. "No," he said quietly with a little shake of his head. "She's gone... left. I don't know where she is. I've been trying to find her for a long time. But..." He trailed off, because he didn't really need to say he hadn't found her. It was quite obvious.

Ibada looked skeptical at the idea of getting hurt when someone was angry with you, for any time his mother had been upset with him.. he'd never been hurt because of it. And she was the only one who'd ever even been a little bit mad at him, but he didn't see a whole lot of others- he was more concerned with his own little endevaours than making friends. Usually.

"We could share my mama," he offered mysteriously. It wasn't at all like Ibada to offer to share, but his brother already shared their mother- and if you thought about it Ibada was in it to gain something if Ilizi did agree.

He himself had suffered very different experiences when confronted with anger from others. There had been that one really mean hyena who tried to hurt him just because he was starved and tried to get a scrap of food. And then there had been that lion who just seemed to be angry at everything, and decided to try to take it out on him. No, he hadn't had anything less than horrid experiences when it came to rage directed at him.

Ilizi blinked in surprise, his bright eyes going wide. "Share? What... do you mean?" The concept puzzled him. Ibada's mother wasn't his mother, so how then could they share her? He was an unwanted pup, he knew that. Ibada's mother wouldn't want to waste her time on him.

Ibada ignored the surprised look that he earned from Ilizi, but did take a moment to notice what a good look at his eyes he got when he said something like that. Stranger pup was a little less hide-y when he was surprised, and Ibada was rather glad of it. He was almost having fun trying to get him to open up more.

"Share," he repeated, "Liiiiike how my brother and I share her now. She can be your mama, then you'll have one too." And then he would have another brother! Ibada liked Kefir, but the more the merrier. Besides, Ilizi was being kind of weird- it might do him good to have a mother.

The thought of having a mother to look after him and protect him from the dangers of the world was like a dream come true. It was the only thing he searched for as he wandered the lands. If he was never going to see his real mother again, he needed to find someone else willing to look after him, didn't he?

But there was one big doubt that circled in his mind.

"But... what if... your mama doesn't want me with you?" His voice was back to being practically a whisper, the thought of more rejection frightening him.

The idea that Ilizi put fourth hadn't occured to the pup, and even when it was put forward Ibada did not seem to put much thought to it. He shook his head, grinning brightly.

"Don't be silly, mama wouldn't want you- I mean- not want you," he replied, and skipped in a circle so he was now facing back the way he had come, "I'll go get her! Then you'll see."

Ilizi just blinked slowly. It seemed unreal that there was a possibility he'd be given somewhere to stay, with someone who'd help keep him safe from all the other predators who tried to eat him. And he'd be staying with Ibada. The other pup wasn't so bad when he kept his voice down, and he looked happy a lot. Maybe Ilizi could be happy with them, too.

He nodded mutely, though nervously he glanced around him again, now that he was going to be left on his own again. Now that he'd found company that wasn't about to eat him, he hardly wanted to let it go. But he would stay put. He didn't dare ask to come, in case he ended up asking too much and Ibada left him completely alone again. He just huddled in on himself again.

Ibada was quite content to leave Ilizi on his own, mostly because he didn't know how far the other hyena could go. It would certainly be quicker to get mama to come back here than to take him along! Or so Ibada figured. With a firm nod, he hopped off to go in search of his mother with full confidence he'd be able to find the way back again.

It wasn't a great deal later that the distinct sounds of Ibada returning could be heard. The grass rustled as he hopped through it, but the best indication was that he was actually rambling as he came.

"This waaaay," he called brightly, leading his mother to the spot he thought he'd left Ilizi. Just a little too far to the right, Ibada was lost in the grass and trying to remember where he'd gone, "Oh, he should be around here somewhere. I thought this was it. Mamaaaa.." Looking upset at having lost his new friend, he looked to his mother for help.

Lam padded after her son brightly, he really did show a knack for leadership and she could feel the pride of the thought swelling in her breast. Since the boy' birth she had not felt the presence of Anga'fisi and this was certainly a thing to rejoice, her sons were now her one true calling, even if at times she became frustrated and tossed them out.

"So, we're going to meet a friend of yours?" she barked after him and quickened her pace in his direction, little devil moves awfully fast, doesn't he?! she thought chuckling inward. Unlike most hyenas Lamyae hid her laughter often, thinking it more of a dog's trait than that of a feline.

The wild dreamer's days were over and now she was just a mother, excited to chase after her children and in general be happy at the thought of seeing them grow older.

Ilizi waited in silence for Ibada to come back (though part of actually doubted the other pup would, as that was his outlook on most things), jumping at every little noise. Even the abrupt chirping of birds startled him a lot of the time, so nervous and twitchy was he. And all the time Ibada was away, he thought of getting out of here and far away. Ibada was bringing an older hyena right to this very spot, and every instinct in Ilizi told him to flee before things got bad. Only the distant hope of having somewhere safe to live kept him in one place.

His ear perked anxiously as he heard the noise of someone coming closer, automatically thinking it would be danger rather than the other pup, but hearing Ibada's voice made him relax a bit. Not someone come to eat him, after all. "Ibada...?" he called out, as loud as his timid voice could go. He could hear that his new friend couldn't find him again, but he felt too tired to get up and come looking for him.

Ibada looked rather disappointed when his mother could not offer him any help, but was very happy to hear someone saying his name- of course that had to be who they were looking for. Shooting a grin off at his mother, he turned to where he'd heard Ilizi's voice come from and skipped merrily along.

"This way, mama," he said, and skidded to a halt when he very suddenly came upon his friend- almost tripping right over the poor boy, having been going a bit too fast and carelessly.

"Found him!" Ibada announced loudly, then remembered how Ilizi hadn't liked it before. He bit down, and smiled sheepishly at the other pup, "Sorry."

Lamyae scented the air and could smell him before he saw him and her heart fluttered, another son perhaps? She'd left her preaching days, not wanting to start the group like before and so she thought of him merely as a new addition to family, if infact that was what her son was hinting about.

"Hi, little one, I'm Lamyae, Ibada's mommy, how're you?" she peered at him thoughtfully thinking that him being so timid was quite rare for such bold hyenas in this area, she didn't laugh but she had to fight the urge not to do so. "Ibada, has your friend eaten?" She shifted her eyes to him.

Now that he knew who was coming toward him, he didn't mind the sounds of approach that Ibada gave off without care. He knew the other pup, at least, wouldn't hurt him, but he couldn't say he was too sure about Ibada's mother. She might be nice and kind to her son, but what about a rogue pup? He couldn't help but that way; so long not being able to trust anyone big enough to eat him had left quite an impression on the young pup's mind. And he could definitely smell someone else with Ibada. This had to be his mother.

As Ibada nearly crashed into him, though, he squeaked in surprise and alarm, managing to gather up enough energy to jump back a bit, just far enough to avoid being toppled onto. As Ibada apologised, though, he managed a weak, shy smile, taking the meaning to be both for talking loud and almost falling on him. "It's all right," he said, his voice almost a whisper now, sounding timid as always.

But then Lamaye spoke to him, drawing attention to herself, and he made a half-dive, half-flop behind Ibada to hide from her. Well, at least he wasn't scared that Ibada would eat him, enough to hide behind him. Or maybe he simply considered Ibada the lesser threat, but even that would be a teeny, tiny baby step in the semi-right direction. "I'm... f-fine..." he managed to squeak out in reply, which was obviously a big, fat lie. No pup surviving on his own could ever be anywhere near 'fine'.

Ilizi didn't answer the question about food, as it was directed at Ibada, but his stomach seemed to want to get a word in about the subject. As if it had been waiting for that cue, it rumbled loudly, causing the small pup to duck his head sheepishly, his bushy white tail twitching nervously over the ground.
