Dust Dancer Okay, I just don't think it's fair that men are more famous when it comes to Jazz (or any other type of media for that matter, but let's stick to jazz for now). Your thoughts on this? Oh, and come here and say hello if you're a female jazz artist! Us girls gotta stick together! >:0 Yeah, I got to say that some friends o' mine think that we girlies cant play Jazz, specially the Bass, but that just suck as socks! that aint true at all I hate when they think that! Arghh! but yeah, you just said it, lets stick our bodys and fart in tha faces of those dudes!!!!

Diana Krahl is definitely amazing. I think she is somewhat of a Modern Female Nat King Cole.

Fuioxdu Off the top of my head... Hiromi Uehara - piano Regina Carter - violin Cindy Blackman - drums Nicole Mitchell - flute Jo Ann Daugherty - piano Sheila Escovedo - drums Correct me if I'm wrong, but would that be the same Sheila E. that's played with Prince and is currently judging "The Next Great American Band"? Also, I believe that Nina Perssons, the lead singer of The Cardigans, has a kick-a** recording of 'Desafinado' out there. The horn parts are great and there's a video on YouTube, but the vocals are a little too loud in the live version. I'd consider myself a female jazz artist, I'm just not famous ninja

There are plenty of female Jazz musicians. Making accusations that there are sexist motivations behind the ratio of men/women Jazz players is simply shameful and out of place.

Fuioxdu Hahahahahaa... that blows. Just be glad it wasn't in tenor clef. Oh, the horrors... I have an FBA grade 6 solo that's in tenor clef....it's hard....if you don't understand how hard it is yet, it's a Eugene Bozza piece AND it has double dotted eigth notes ninja Ima playing that next year ^^

I'm a female trombone player! (:
Haha, now that I think about it, my high school's Jazz band has quite a few females...
Two female altos. One female tenor. Three female bones (one of them is our bass trombone). One female pianist. One female Jazz singer.
