Well, I suppose the egg came first. Isn't it the current scientific belief that birds are the descendants of dinosaurs? Dinosaurs laid eggs. The first chicken would have had to come from an egg. Evolution. Woo.

So then were did the dinosaur come from huh?

Of course, an egg. You wouldn't answer "chicken" would you?

I think both may be possible. An egg might've come from a dinosaur which gave birth to an abnormal one, thus froming the chicken. However, technically speaking the genes of the dinosaur must have some genes in order to produce the first chicken. So the chicken may be much older than we think. Unless we have been there in prehistroic times, or even saw the Big Bang (the Creation) itself, I don't think this question may be answered. We don't have enough facts. Everything here just ends up as opinions, just like mine right here.

the egg came first because minerals could build up the crate a shell and mold and otyher stuff form inside

Egg for breakfast, chicken for lunch. It's not a question of evolution or anything. It's a question about food!

The egg, but it wasn't necessarily a chicken-laid egg.
It's not like an animal can just decide to evolve out of no where.
The animal produced an egg containing a mutated embryo, thus hatching into a modern-day chicken.

The chicken came first. Of you go with the story of Creation, God wouldn't have made an egg, He'd have made a chicken. If you go with evolutioon, one celled organism's don't evolve into an egg, they evolve into a chicken.

The chicken, of course, duh.

Anyway. A wise person once said
"There is no begininng to a circle.

@Anime: Nice answer! xD

@ Panda: That is interesting. However, there is no telling what a one celled organism would involve into. And also there are other ways to look at it, other than all animals were created at once. Chickens weren't around from the begining of time, so all the other evolution theorys about it that have already been posted could be just as true.

The chiken...read the first few pages of the bible.

The chicken! Dah!
If you go with evolution, like the chicken came from this , then this came from that, then that came from those, and so on....
Eventually you only have one creature (germ, thing, ect.) left, and then where did that come from? Huh?
Also if A chicken evoled, then how would it mate? That means two (female and male) would of had to some how evole at the same 0_o
So i'd day creation!
God made two chickens (one female, one male)
Well, that's my opinion xD

@Crunner: While your intitled to your beliefs if you want to be in a debate, you should state more than just "go read the bible" Just cause it's in the bible doesn't make it true.

@Dirty: I swear, if one more annoying christian comes in anywhere that I am with that annoying logical fallacy.

Here let me use it on you. Well if god created the chicken who created god? No answer? Well there, I just defeated your whole arguement, I guess that makes you wrong and god doesn't exist. 3nodding rolleyes

Besides you didn't even read the thread enough to figure out what the popular evolutionist opinion is. Most people say that egg because they think it mutated inside the egg into a modern chicken which could have inbreed into it's ancestors and made a male chicken like cross breed and breed it's anscestors out. (One way of looking at it.)

Now even though I've already tore down your "where did that germ come from?" (correct terms would be one-celled organism, but since everything on this planet just appeared one the planet in a flash of light according to you, that wouldn't matter) Well it could have come from the planet of the purple with pink polka dot gorilla kingdom a few solar systems over. That was me being sarcastic while making a point. Point: It could have came from outer space. Or just a random occurence which lead to life over millions of billions of years.

Go there, read it, read it again, and just keep on reading.

@Dan: Thanks for sharing one word.

Even though I'm christian, you shouldn't bring your beleifs into a debate like this one without backing it up some more. So marsh made an overall pretty good point...although she could have been just a little more repectful about the christian beleifs of how the world came to be(It wasn't just a flash...it took seven days...although scientists beleive that the universe was made in an explosion and only took a milla second)
I beleive that, when it's not food, it's the chicken. Firstly, the whole christian thing. Secondly, an egg needs to be warmed to live. And thirdly, there's the whole reproductive thing with the sperm and the ovum..ova...which one is plural? You know what... I'm no longer all that sure...

This is pretty much a question that can't be answered logically, because either way, we have no proof because none of us lived at the beginning of time or whenever the chicken/egg was created. And if you say it was mutated, where did the animals that laid that egg come from and so on? It's possible this is why the question was made. It's a who knows sorta thing. Like what is the name of that thing on the end of a shoelace...or what was the first word ever said?

But I still say it was a joke to make people think it's a logical qustion but it was actually created about food so yeah. So for me, egg came first and I still don't really have an answer for logic....

Christians believe that all the animals just magically appeared in a flash of light, all of them at the same time. That was what day 4 or 5 or something? I could have been more respectful, but it gets tiring. Besides, it's not like they're coming back. Anytime your in a debate you get a stedy flow of people who come in and post nonsense and you never see them again.

This isn't really something that should have a diffinitive answer. It is everyone's opinion, but if your going to have an opinion it should be logical.
