Just yesterday, I've been given a music box to take care. Despite how crazy that may sound, it's true! But that wasn't just the crazy part of it, I've even named the music box -Which is Lucy if you must know- and was instructed that I must talk to it or at least pay a lot of attention to the object. I'm naiive and gullible but I didn't protest. So i brought Lucy home with me and stared at it. The whole time. I even tried to come up with a conversation. It went soemthing like

"Hi. How are you?"

Silence.

"Fine weather it is today?"

Silence.

"I have to admit, it had gotten hotter huh?"

Believe it or not. Silence. Occasional chirping crickets...might I add.

Maybe some people would think I've lost my mind. Angel passed by me a few seconds ago while I was talking to Lucy. She gave me a look and I had to ask her "Did I grow two heads or something...?" She didn't give me a reply and just left me in the dark. It was an awkward situtation might I add.

So I turn back to my music box and get this. It starts to glow. It wasn't the happy glow either. Lucy was glowing this very dark and scary color that makes me want to run out of the room. Which I did by the way. But as soon as I left the room, Lucy turns back to normal. When I return, the music box reacts by shining that dark depressing blood red color.

I'm beginning to think I'll have a lot on my hands right now. I wonder if I should go back to that adoption center that Lucy came from. Perhaps they may help me in my strange situation. But who ever heard of music box that glows? Not me. That's for sure.

I need help.

Fast.

NOW!

Rein sighed as she stired her cup of tea and stared at the music box. Lucy was rather calm today. Usually, the box would open and then snap shut or emenate a dark aura. The blonde frowned as she brushed her hand over the box in na affectionate and gentle way. The box sowly opened and began playing a soft sad tune.

The gaurdian blinked. This was rather a nice surprise. Rein found herself entranced by the tune and started humming it herself. It was a song you never heard of before but even when it's your first time listening to it, you get hooked to it. "Lovely tune Lucy. I'm glad you're finally playing it for me..." The woman smiled knowing full well that the box plays be itsef.

TBC. Rein is rather lazy right now.

August 12, 2007

Wow. Just wow. I have no words that can really express my feelings at the moment.

Okay...maybe one or two.

Or a few.

At the moment, I have a seriouse headache. Two reasons;

One, I woke up in the middle of the night due loud screaming and crashing.

Two, the little bundle that is fidgeting in the brown woven basket.

So, lets start from the beginning, shall we?

I was wrapped in my soft queen sized bed dreaming happy little dreams involving hot bishies ((I swear, I'm going to be shot for this...)) and yaoi. Yep. That's my paradise. No joke. All I wanted to do was stay in this paradise of mine for the eight hours I normally sleep. Of course, my wish wasn't granted because life sucks and is never fair.

First came a ear splitting scream. My house has thick walls and not exactly sound proof. However, I can tell it woke up the other occupants in my household. Said occupants bursted into my room with paniced faces. I felt dazed at first and attempted to rubbed the sleep from my eyes. What fully awoken me was when I heard several things shatter....glass even! I literally jumped out of bed and grabbed nearby object for a weapon; a hard covered book. Angel and Eva stood behind me as we all looked through each room to find what was making the racket.

As me passed through the doors, the screaming became louder. We finally found the source of the disturbance; Lucy's room. Funny thing is, when I had gone to do a check on all the rooms, I double checked Lucy's. She was still in her music box form (and she wasn't pleased with any of my visits with that constant dark color that she emits).

Many questions popped up. Did Lucy finally arrive? If so, how is she breaking anything? I made sure she was placed in a very spacious room. Unless...somebody broke in. I hoped that wasn't the case. I clung onto my hard cover book and slowly grasped the door knob. Turning it slowly, I forced it open and the three of us charged in ready to attack. But what greeted us was a very messy bedroom and something else...

This would lead us to reason number two; Lucy.

The lights were switched on and I dropped my book ignoring the loud 'THUNK!' it made. I remember I placed Lucy in a crib; which was there...almost torn to peices. In fact, the whole room was torn apart. As I cautiously walked towards the broken down crib, I almost tripped over a basket. That's strange. I never remember getting a basket....Anyway, there I was, face to face with a crying baby wrapped up in what appears to be bandages?

I tried to bend down and pick her up for the first time and something was sent flying at my head. Thank goodness it was only a soft plushie because that hurt so much! I thought I was going to cry...And just how did that plushie attack me? It couldn't have been Lucy. She was somewhat...tied up. Eva and Angel also gave me questioning looks as well. So I ignored it...for now. So I tried to pick up Lucy one again. Second time couldn't hurt as much as the first right...? Haha! I was definately wrong!

As I bent down to pick her up once more, my fingers must have been a little to close to her face because she frikken' bit me! I was surprised I wasn't bleeding but, oh my ****ing god! The pain! I pulled my hands away and cuddled them in a attempt to soothe them.

Third times the charm, or they say. At this point, I was a little worried when it came to touching her...I tried to pick her up again and quickly snatched my hands away when she tried to bite me again. Then for the first time ever, I spotted the horns on her head. I was wondering to myself, how did I miss that? I tried to poke them but I felt something hit my hand...hard.

I was in deep pain now...Was it my constantly abused hand...or was it my heart that was hurting? The child I was suppose to take care of seemed to hate me. I had a sudden flash back and wondered if this was how my mother felt when I yelled "I HATE YOU!" at her and ran away. Her heart must have ached...if not more. Then I realized I should think more of how Lucy must feel. She must be scared. She is surrounded in an unknown room and some creepy lady with messy bed hair was trying to touch her. I would have attacked too if I was Lucy.

So I tried one final time to pick Lucy up once more. "Please trust me. I'm not here to hurt you..." I told her and I know she probably didn't even know what the hell I was saying. But as I bent down to pick her up, it seemed her eyes that turned from a hateful glare widened into a surprised or confused look. Perhaps it must have been the pained look in my eyes that made her relax slightly and allowed me to hold her.

I kept her close to me and she seemed to feel warm and safe for the time being. I think I felt myself melt to know she finally trusted me...at least I hoped.

Sounds sappy...and maybe corny. But hey! That's how Lucy came to join my family!

She still attacks me from time to time. I wonder if that shows that she cares...?

Love hurts. Literally.

This is going to be a long night...

August 13, 2007 (forgive Reineh and her late entry xD)

The beginning of this day, I had finally gone back to the center with Lucy in tow. Let's just say, she wasn't the least bit cooperative during our trip. She wasn't happy and if her face didn't show it, he fact that she was grumbling did.

When the two of us entered the building, we were greeted by a young man by the name of Sesshomaru. Of course, at that very moment, I had to run off to do some errands. Just my luck, ne? I didn't really get to converse with Sesshomaru but I think he is a good person. At least, I truly hope he is. I did leave Lucy in his care. There was no way I could possibly bring Lucy with me to run my errands.

The funny thing is, when I dropped Lucy off, she looked scared and was clinging onto me. That has certainly never happened before. For a moment, I thought she was starting to like me. I felt a little guilty at the moment when I thought of her as a 'hellspawn'. But as long as I don't tell her in the future, everything *should* be okay. Speaking of which, I never really knew what the hell Lucy was. I always put it off until Sesshomaru had asked. Was she human or was she a demon? He seemed really interested in her. Or atleast I think he did...

Anyway, By the time I came back, Lucy seemed to grow rather attached to Sesshomaru. Much to my relief since I was worried that Lucy might become a handful. Lucy isn't the type to get act chummy with people but to have her warm up to Sesshomaru so quickly. I guess I can always depend on him to babysit Lucy whenever I am busy now!

Eva lounge on the couch with the television remote in her hand. She sighed to herself as she surfed through the channels. There seemed to be nothing on TV today. She stopped at Cartoon Network for a moment to see that Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was on and flipped to the next channel. She heard a rather annoyed, "Nyuuu!" from a certain infant that was also in the room.

Oh...right....She's here too... Eva thought. Lucy was in her craddle on the floor, center of the couch. She remembered their guradian instructing the teen to look after the younger girl while Rein showed the new maid around the house. It wasn't part of the 'Things to do during weekend' list. She popped a peice of chewing gum into her mouth and began to chew noisily on it to block out Lucy's annoying cries.

As Eva chewed and cracked her gum, Lucy became even more irritated. She was beyong pissed to see that this person would not follow her request. She wanted to watch Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and she wanted to see it now! "NYUUUUU! NYUUUUUUUU!" The infant cried out. Again, the infant was ignored.

From a distance, Lucy heard her guardian's voice from down the hall. It seemed like the tour was finally over. Lucy waited for Rein to walk closer to the living room. Taking a deep breath, the infant burst into tears causing Rein and the newbie, Lana to run into the room. "What's going on?!" Rein asked as she bent over to pick up the crying infant.

Eva rolled her eyes and stood up from her seat as she threw the remote onto the couch. She walked up to her guardian and looked down up her. Truth be told, Rein was intimidated slightly, never having to deal with teenagers before since she was one herself. Rein adopted Eva when she was only a little baby and now Eva was already her guardian's age and also grown even taller. The reason to Eva's fast growth would be a mystery to Rein.

"Well?" Rein asked but raised her voice a little bit higher. Eva crossed her arms defiantly. "Hmph, it was your fault for dumping the kid on me!" She growled before storming off. Rein's mouth hung upon. Oh hell no. Eva did not just talk to her in that rude kind of manner. The woman placed Lucy back in the craddle to run after the teen who continued to ignore her gaurdian's commands. Rein turned back to see Lana standing in the living room, urged her to follow, which said maid did.

Lucy blinked and smiled to herself. Although being left alone wasn't what she had planned, it served purpose of being able to get to the remote. The infant quickly located the remote. Looking left and right, she pushed herself onto the couch using three of her vectors while pulling her blanket along with her fourth vector. Once she was seated comfrotably in her couch, her vectors quickly snatched the remote and used them to flip through the channels.

Unfornately, the infant ended up flipping through the channels a little too quickly ended up on a rather inappropriate channel. Still being rather young and naiive, the infant's face turned beet red when she watched two rather attractive men embrace each other. Before it even got to detailed, Lucy hurled the remote at the TV with her vectors and watched as the screen shattered.

Being able to control her vectors a lot better was one thing. But after witnessing what she saw on TV today, Lucy knew that the only time she would ever watch TV again was with Sesshomaru...or until she learned how to channel surf without going into Rein's "special channels".

((Note: Reineh doesn't have a yaoi channel (And isn't sure if they even exist) IRL no matter how much she wants one xD Her parents would kill her if they found out about her Yaoi obsession.))

*sighs* Teenagers are rather a pain in the *bleep*. I shouldn't really talk though. Having to deal with problems of my own and my ward's own problems as well. Not the stress I needed. AFter attempting to communicate with Eva and appoligizing to Lana, I freaked when I entered the living room. Lucy's face was flushed and the television screen was smashed to bits.

I'm surprised I didn't hear the TV breaking. I guess while Eva and I were yellling at each other, our screams blocked the noise. But on a more seriouse topic, I freaked out over Lucy who seemed to have been knocked out. I checked to see if she was sick. Her cheeks seem rather hot. I ended up rushing her into the bedroom and taking her temperature which seemed fine. Moments later, Eva was back to her normal distant self. However, the way she eyed the tv worried me though. She seemed rather frightened by it for some reason...

January 3, 2008

It's officially the new year. Or well, it has been for the past few days. I don't feel like counting it down exactly. My baby is growing up pretty fast! Although, she still tends to give me cold glares still. Lucy doesn't even want me hanging around her unless she needs something from me like changing her diaper or taken her to the adoption center to see Sesshomaru again. Honestly, I wish I could deny it, but even I know that I am jelouse over the fact that my kid likes someone even more than her parent.

It has been a while since Lucy last saw Sesshomaru so I decided to take her to the center again. The whole way there she kept crying out that adorable quote "Nyuuu~!". The routine stayed the same; I go in, Sesshomaru takes care of Lucy for a bit, and I do whatever I want to until it's time to go home. So I decided to stay for a little while and talk to Sesshomaru's guardian, Tenshi. I learned a lot of interesting things about her during our conversations too. While we were talking, Sesshomaru had decided to take Lucy out for a bit. Although I have entrusted Lucy with Sesshomaru many times, having the two go out together was definately the first. I was a bit worried but I was reassured that Lucy would be fine. So, I just went with it until the two did come back.

By the end of the day when the two of us returned back home, I noticed there some boxes and a luggage case by the doorway. Then I realized that Eva was bringing over the stuff that she must have left behind. My oldest ward who has been with me for just about a whole year now is moving out. As sad as I am to see her go, I felt a tinge of happiness because I raised her the day I found her abandoned. I know, it sounds rather corny.

Eva appeared by the doorway with a picture frame in her hand. Then I realized it was a family photo of us and some men carrying some rather heavy things followed behind her. Hopefully they were movers and not some sort of thief trying to rob the house like from that mini movie, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, "Good Wilt Hunting". Okay, I think I've been watching a little too much of that cartoon. I blame Lucy...

As the men loaded all of Eva's things I watched as she stepped out of the house. Turning towards me, the two of us shaked hands and I told her to visit me before she turned away and got into her car. I watched as she drove away with the moving truck following after her. With a heavy sigh, I closed the door and saw that Lucy had fallen asleep, curled up close to me.

It was a long day and the house had one less occupant. It feels rather loney now....

Toddler Quest: Lucy
It seems ever since you came about you've been causing your guardian some degree of grief. And the encouragement of a certain 'someone' certainly hasn't helped. But this time Lucy, you're gonna do something really bad. While practicing breaking and throwing objects, you 'accidentally' destroy one of your guardians treasured objects. How does your guardian take it? And what do you do to try and make it up to her? Careful little Lucy, it's not a good idea to bite the hand of that which feeds you.

Rein’s eyes widened as she stared at the millions of broken pieces scattered across the living room floor. She had quickly rushed into the living room when she head a loud crash and millions of objects breaking. But it wasn’t the breaking that she feared. The fact that Lucy was also in the living also brought even more paranoia. But that didn’t seem to be the case. The pink haired infant seemed to fine. In fact, none of the glass shards were even near Lucy. Her eyes widened when her gaze met a shattered object on the floor. Almost robotically, she ventured over towards the broken object, while carefully trying to step over other glasses pieces. “Lucy…what did you do…?” Rein asked, her voice rather shaking and sounding pathetic, even to herself.

The infant however, stayed silent. It was like Lucy had never broken anything made out of porcelain or glass before. In fact, Rein didn’t even seem to care. She would only flash that stupid forgiving smile and clean up the mess. Every time Lucy tried to push her guardian away, Rein would know to back off, and still smile. So why was it different this time? Where was that smile? Why did Rein look so sad? Or well…sadder than ever? Did that glass statue of a little girl seem to really mean so much to the woman? Lucy frowned when she heard her guardian ask that same question again.

Lucy’s eyes widened when she heard sniffling coming from the woman now. Now the infant was trying to decide whether she should pity the woman or roll her eyes. Typical that humans would cry over such trivial things. But even Lucy knew that her thoughts were only half heart. Yes, the infant did intend to knock the stupid statue over. Especially when Rein once told the infant that it was something that her mother had made for her. The glass statue wasn't very pretty at all and Rein even admitted that she hated it. But it somehow warmed up to her. Her mother had tried to make a glass figure of Rein when she was a little girl. Just knowing that much, Lucy knew that the object was more treasured than Rein had said. Plus the fact that Rein actually placed it in the living room for all to see.

But she didn’t expect the reaction that she was currently receiving and Lucy didn't like it either. She bit her lip as she maneuvered one of her vectors to gently pat her guardian’s back…if that was even possible.

But the blonde woman quickly moved away, probably from luck knowing that Rein couldn’t see her vectors. Lucy was also pretty sure Rein was still oblivious about her “unique” abilities or rather, the woman knew but chose to ignore it. But at the moment, it seemed that the woman at least knew that Lucy was the cause for all the breaking and smashing and now the reason for the destruction for her treasured object. The infant felt herself backing away from her spot when she finds that Rein now looking over her shoulder to look at Lucy.

Blue eyes were red and puffy, probably from crying. She was trying to cover up the fact that she had been crying though as Rein rubbed the tears away from her eyes. If Lucy weren’t in such a predicament at the moment, she would have snorted at the obvious clues even if Rein was trying to hide it. It seemed Rein had figure this out too. the hand that held the pieces had tightened and blood began to quickly flow from the hand just as the two heard foot steps approaching.

“What on earth happened here?!?!” Angel cried out as she rushed over to check on Rein. Her eyes widened as she stared at the bleeding hand and tried to remove the glass pieces away from the woman. But she refused to let go of the pieces and this time, tears managed to flow freely.

“Ahahaha…silly me…” Rein muttered. “I was picking up the pieces and accidentally cut myself with the shards…” Rein winced when she enlightened it and stared at the gaping cuts. The blood was making her queasy and finally the two woman had rushed off to quickly take care of the problem, leaving Lucy alone.

The infant felt rather abandoned at the moment. Sure, she liked being alone most of the time. Rein was also very annoying but she wouldn’t deny of the fact that the woman’s constant fussing over Lucy was…refreshing. But more than ever, no matter how sadistic it sound, the little girl really wanted to break her guardian. She had never seen Rein cry before and now Lucy was wondering if it had really been worth it all. The annoying feeling in her gut made her regret the choice she had made.

It had probably been at least a half an hour before Angel finally returned to the living room to clean up the mess. “Oh Lucy! You are still here?” The woman asked as she walked over to scoop up the unresponsive infant into her arms. “You probably should stay in there while I’m cleaning, you might get hurt too!”

However, even still, Lucy refused to stay anything as they ventured up the stairs. She was placed into the satefy confines of her crib and she watched as Angel told her to stay put before leaving to do her job. The little girl pouted not wanting to be stuck in her “prison”. She couldn’t afford to be stuck in a crib at the moment. No. She had to go find Rein and, dare she admit it, try to apologize to her guardian. But how was she suppose to approach the blonde? Crawl up to her and then give the woman a hug? Make her a card? Can Lucy even draw yet? She has colored on the walls several times with her vectors, but they were always scribbles.

Tiny hands gripped tightly onto the bars of her grip. “Nyuuuu! NYUUUUU!!!” She cried out but nobody seemed to be answering her calls. “NYUUUU!!” The infant pouted. Lucy wondered if she could safely crawl down from the crib. It didn’t hurt to try…or maybe it would. With two vectors, she gently lifted her body up and her other pair of vectors gripped tightly onto the outer bars. She was lifted out and was then safely lowered down onto the plush carpet of her room.

Lucy began to crawl around wondering what she should do in order to apologize for her wrong doings. Seeing that there was nothing in her room that would help her. She crawled over towards the door and used her vectors to reach over and open the door for her. When that task was finally done, Lucy poked her head out to make sure no one was watching her leave the room. The last thing she needed was a pesky human carrying her back into the crib. The prison she tried so hard to get away from.

It didn’t take long for Lucy to find her guardian. She could still hear the woman sniffling in her room. How long has Rein been crying? Why did those sounds seem to constrict Lucy’s chest making it harder for her to think clearly? The woman’s door was opened slightly and Lucy took this as an opportunity to stealthily enter her room.

Rein was sitting by her vanity playing around with several of the broken pieces. Her right hand had just been bandaged up tightly so she couldn’t do much with it. Plus, it was very painful at the moment and she didn’t want to really irritate the wound. With her left hand, she brushed away any stray tears from her eyes and sniffled several times. The woman didn’t want to cry anymore over an object that was bound to be broken anyway. So she didn’t want to put any blame on Lucy. Despite the fact she knew it was the infant’s fault. The woman couldn’t bring herself to accuse her of anything.

She heard the door creak open slightly and she looked over her shoulder to see who had entered. “Angel?” She asked but it appeared that the it wasn’t the housekeeper after all. She was about to turn back around again when she felt somebody tug on her shirt gently. Her gaze traveled down lower until she found Lucy standing on her legs, using her stool for support. “L-Lucy?”

“Nyu!” The infant greeted, though it seemed a little too energetic in Rein’s opinion. The usual greeting that Rein received was a grumble or a glare. But the infant had a rather calm and worried look her on her face. Something that Rein usually sees the infant give to that teenager, Sesshomaru. Lucy felt herself being picked up by the woman and placed on her lap, but she knew that the woman was cautious and hesitant with her actions. The infant encouraged her guardian a little bit more by snuggling close to the woman. “Nyuuu” She cooed. Lucy knew that at the moment, she couldn’t really do much to make amends for what she had just done. But until she found a way, Lucy would just have to play nice with the woman.

Looking up to stare at Rein, the blonde had a rather confused look on her face. But then the woman finally smiled that same stupid and forgiving smile that Lucy had hoped for. Had wanted since the beginning of her troubles.

Yes. For the moment, everything was fine.

Just as long as Rein smiled for her.

March 30, 2008

Everywhere Rein went, Lucy followed. The woman wasn't sure if she should be happy that her ward had finally decided to warm up towards her, or perhaps be disturbed by these change of events. Whatever the case was, it was a nice change. Though, the child still scowled and grumbled, it was evident that she has become nicer towards people. Okay. Some people.

They were currently sitting next to each other, learning how to read and write the letters of the alphabet. Rein had been thinking of enrolling Lucy into school but decided to home school the little girl instead. Sure, she still had more to learn about her adopted child, but the blond knew that Lucy still wasn't very good when it comes to people. Not to mention children, at whatever age, are very cruel. Rein feared that if they saw her horns, they may never accept her. Which would also reflect her opinions on humans as "cruel" or "hurtful" and some people are like that.

"Okay, Lucy, write the letter 'd' this time!" Rein instructed, first showing her how it was written and then handing the pencil over towards her. "No, no! That's a 'b'!" Lucy was a very intelligent girl for her age. She knew how to speak a lot of words and do several things that most toddlers are not able to do. But then again, Lucy isn't like most other toddlers. But writing seemed to be quite a challenge for the girl.

It took several moments, the the toddler had been able to write and tell the difference between the b's and d's now. "Very good, Lucy!" Rein complimented and offered a pet on her head. The two had worked for two more hours until Lucy was finally able to write at least half of the words. Rein sighed and smiled as she packed away all the papers, pencils, and erasers for later use.

"Once we are done with the alphabets, we'll start writing and reading!" Rein chuckled a little when she was given a rather bored look from the pink haired toddler. "I understand what you must be feeling. I hated school too back in the day..." The woman paused for a moment and scowled for a minute. That last line really made her feel old.

Shaking the feeling away, Rein neatly placed the items over to the side. She made her way over towards the kitchen, and of course, Lucy decided to follow as well. Taking out a large cookie jar, she took out several of the treats and handed two over to Lucy, keeping the other two she had in her hand for herself. "You definately deserve them, Lucy!"

For the moment, Lucy's face seemed devoid of any emotion. But for a split second, her lips twitched into a tiny smile and she mouth a small and quick "thank you" It was an action that if you blinked, you missed it. But Rein definitely saw the gesture. It was good enough for her.

April 21, 2008

It was last week when it these dreams began to occur. But they were more like nightmares as Rein began to calm down the frightened toddler for the third time this week. "Hey, girl. What's what the matter?" Rein asked, rubbing soothing circles on the child's back. She was shuddering and breathing hard. Just the sight of it makes Rein even more worried.

Lucy had begun to yell and cry out. After that, she began to flail and thrash about. When the girl had finally awoke, she was a crying mess, clinging onto Rein tightly. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" The infant apologized over and over again. Her guardian was a confused mess. "Hey! It's okay! What are you sorry for?" But Lucy refused to answer. She just continued to apologize.

Rein could only sigh as she finally put the child back to sleep, or so she thought. But when she was about to move away, she felt a tight grip that held her in place. Her gaze fell onto Lucy's hands that were tucked away under her blankets. So it definitely wasn't Lucy holding onto her...right? Rein blinked as she stared at the child's dark pink eyes, still wet with tears.

"Don't go." It sounded more like a plea than Lucy's usual demanding voice.

"Don't go."

Rein stared at her ward for a even longer time. Lucy's current state seemed so vunerable, it felt impossible to refuse. Finally, the woman smiled and nodded her head. The tight grip around her loosened as Rein walked towards Lucy's closet and pulled out several spare sheets.

"What are you doing with those?" Lucy asked curiously, rising to sit up on her bed.

"I'm sleeping in your room tonight." Rein explained.

The toddler frowned. "But I have blankets already!"

"I'm sleeping on the floor," Rein says placed the items on the floor, setting up the sheets so she would feel comfortable.

"There is a lot of room in my bed!" Lucy exclaims as points at the spot. "I'll make some more!" The child scooted several inches.

Rein laughed. "I'm far too fat. There won't be enough room for you to sleep on." She walked over to Lucy's bedside and tucked her ward back in again. "Sleep now, Lucy. It'll be alright. I'll be sleeping beside your bed." She placed Lucy's favorite dog plush right next to her. "And your little buddy will be here too..."

Lucy snuggled tightly onto the plush.

"Good night."

"Good night, Lucy..."

The toddler shut her eyes once more.

Darkness surrounded her once more. All except for the herself, and the pool of blood that surrounded her.

Drip! Drip! Drip!

"It's good to see you again..." and eerily familiar voice rang out in Lucy's head.

"You may not remember me. But that's okay...we'll see each other again. Very soon."

I wonder what was really going on in Lucy's head lately. She had also gotten used to having me sleep with her now that she had been frequently coming into my room and asking me to go to her room. Even though I didn't mind sleeping in her room, I thought that it would be best if she just slept in my room for once.

Then a few nights later, Lucy just started coming in the room and sneaking onto my bed without telling me. The first time this had happened, I almost fell off my bed because I was shocked. Lana and Angel rushed into my room asking what had happened. Though I quickly explained that nothing was wrong and quickly shooed the two out of my room.

The kid on my bed had a giggling fit. Apparently, all of this was very funny to her. But if I had been in Lucy's place, I would have probably laughed my a** off as well.

I sighed as I hurried to get a glass of warm milk to help Lucy go to bed. As soon as I began walking down the stairs, I hear an extra set of foot steps. Turning over slightly, I see Lucy only several steps away from me.

"Lucy, go back to bed."

Of course the child didn't listen to me. In fact, she ran over to cling onto my hand. "Go back to bed with me," she said in a small voice. "Don't want milk..."

Honestly, with a kid as a cute as Lucy, how could I reject her? So the two of us headed back into my room and tucked ourselves back in bed. "Do you think you can sleep well tonight?"

She didn't reply, in fact her eyes were already closed.

I wonder how I'll get her to stay in her room again. Having Lucy sleeping with me is cute an all, but I don't want it to be a permanent habit.

Those nightmares have finally stopped and Lucy had finally decided to sleep on her own. Thank goodness for that. But I was wondering if they would be gone...forever? Whatever the case was, I was going through all of Eva's hand-me-downs to Lucy and managed to find a journal that looked brand new. I didn't know if I should have felt upset or not because I did buy this a year a go. When I turned the cover, I realized that this was the first time it had ever been opened!

No sense in wasting it really, so I thought of keeping it for myself. That was until Lucy kept staring at it. She tilted her head curiously and pointed at the journal. "What's that?" The girl asked.

I smiled and told her that it was a old journal that I had found.

She pointed at me this time. "Yours?"

I paused for a moment. It really should have been Lucy's because Eva had thrown it into the box filled with items that she would give to the girl. But I knew that Lucy was still learning how to read and write correctly, so I thought that I should buy her a journal in the future. Besides, I need a new journal myself since I'm running out of pages for my old one.

Damn right, I am selfish.

"Rein?"

Oh, I snapped out of my musings and then smiled at the girl. "Well, I was going to keep it for myself...but, do you want it?"

Lucy tilted her head to the side again. "Can I throw it?"

Then came the long dreadful silence. That was certainly not an answer I expected. But then again, this is Lucy. She loved to throw things. Yeah, it should have been expected.

"No, no Lucy! Journals are meant for writing!" I explained as I opened the journal to a random page to show her what was inside. I watched as she reached over to trace the lines on the page before looking back at me. Those dark pink eyes twinkled...with....happiness?

"I can have?"

Okay, when I said I was selfish, I really am. But damn it, I'm a sucker for those cute eyes of hers. There was no way I can deny anything that she requests.

Except jumping off a bridge.

I know my limits.

"Sure..." I answered and that was when I was tackled down from a hug. She took the journal and held it close to her. I wondered what was with all the excitement. This wasn't the first time I had given her a gift.

"Nyu..." She muttered and smiles at me.

I smiled and gave her a pat on the head. "Was that a thank you?"

She didn't answer and the doorbell rang. The two of us got up on our feet and went to greet whoever was outside. I smiled to see some postal service guy delivering a package. Strange, I wasn't expecting anything to day. But what did it mattered.

I sighed my name and the package was handed over to me, the guy's hand brushed against mine by accident and we chuckled a little. Little things can be proven quite embarressing.

Apparently, Lucy didn't like the small interaction we had. The next thing I knew was the fact that there was a loud "WHAM!" sound and the guy was laying on the ground, the hardcover journal on his face.

"ACK! LUCY!"

Said toddler had her arms crossed over her chest looking rather pleased with herself.

Lucy watched in annoyance as she sat on the floor, watching Rein pace around the room for a long time. Her guardian had promised to play with her today but so far, was there any playing going on? Heck no. Ever since the woman read the letter sent to her after the whole mail man incident, she had a worried look on her face. Not to mention, Lucy received a major scolding for throwing her journal at him. It was a good thing she didn't use her vectors either.

So now, here Lucy sat. Toys were scattered all around her just waiting to be played with. The toddler was just about ready to toss a wooden block at Rein's head if this ignoring continued on any longer. But Lucy still had a bit of self control left. That's right. She can wait just a little bit longer.

Tick...tock.....tick...tock...

Time was ticking away.

Tick....tock....tick...tock....

"Play with me," Lucy demanded. Okay, so maybe the toddler wasn't very patient anymore. But honestly, she was sitting on the floor for at least an hour or so. Rein finally looked her way. Despite the fact that Lucy was happy on the inside, she was still frowning.

"I'm sorry Lucy. I've just got a lot on my mind right now!" Rein says and chuckled nervously. Though she was really just spurting an excuse, it was the absolute truth. She picked up a random toy and Lucy followed suite. "Okay, why don't we start?" Rein had decided to allow Lucy to direct her in everything. It had been years since she last played with dolls, blocks, and stuffed animals.

The session had gone on for a long while and Lucy would have to call out to Rein every time her guardian zoned off. The woman would just laugh and wave it off and continue. Eventually, Lucy became bored and now the two were sitting together watching some good ol' television. Of course, there was none other than Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

"My big brother is coming over soon..." Rein said out of nowhere during a commercial break. Lucy stared at her, and tilted her head.

"Who?"

"My big brother" Rein repeated and then turned her gaze towards Lucy. "I don't know the date exactly. But knowing him, it would be some sort of surprise visit...that pain in the a**" Of course, the last part was muttered. She couldn't allow Lucy to learn such words. Yet. But being the attentive listener Lucy was, she heard every word. Slowly, Rein began to fall asleep. All the while, Lucy continued to watch over her.

Perhaps she should throw something at this "pain in the a**" as well....
