Thank you, Mother Earth, for coincidences. Because this one managed to save her life. When her new found savior of sorts made sure that Ceres would be pitched to the earth, it gave her a new energy source and the ability to strengthen again. Yes her body was drained, but that was no excuse. She wasn't a superhero to just sit and watch a madman try to destroy lives.
Tapping into the strength of the earth, she built her reserves back up and stood. Speaking into her comm badge to the new comer (Nix) rushing down the river (any normal person probably would have thought it just to be rowdy waves), "Ah, a new comer, I see. Thank you for joining, unknown Avenger. Brutus here controls fire and water, but he has no reserves past the energy god has given him. If we wear him down, he will be done. And if I know Captain America, he will be here soon to bring in our prisoner. They will want this guy, we just fought him a week ago."
It wasn't a grand plan, but it would do. Ceres looked over at her savior, "Thank you. I am in your debt and I will repay. Now, let's keep him at bay, eh? Friends will be coming to help. I'm going to mold the earth under his feet up into a cup. Can you get a hard enough run at him to make sure he falls back into the prison I'm going to form? Our water friend who has just arrived will be able to keep things wet enough that we don't have to worry about fire right now."
She nodded to signal that they needed to move.

Still in the Marvel Universe.
That was a close call but at least Ceres was back up on her feet. She watched her brief someone on what they were going up against. She glanced at the waves in the rapids before returning her attention to Ceres who briefly outlined what she wanted to do. They had to wear him down and hold him off until Captain America got there? That worked for Forellen who still shifted shifted into a panther could only growel in agreement and turn her gaze to Brutus.
She nodded and began to run through through her run pattern. She needed to get him to fall back. Since the ground was going to be in the shape of a cup under his feet all she needed to do was to get him to shift back so he slipped and lost his ballance. Then she could maybe knock him backwards into Celes little prison. Forellen shifted her weight in preperation to charge in at Brutus.

Ceres pressed both fists into the ground and pushed against it. Her strength was not what it could be... after all she wasn't a god. She was still human although the fortunes of mutation made her feel godly at times. Yelling, the ground seemed to push with her will and started bending and shaking at their feet. Through the earth and up under Brutus, the ground started to form up around him. It started to encase him with water like a cup.
Of course she didn't want to kill him so he had enough breathing room, but she made the ride bumpy enough that he wasn't getting any fireballs off at them. Between her and Nix, they controlled the water more than Brutus. He was going to be powerless shortly.
They just had to hold a few more minutes before the calvary that was Captain America arrived to take their prisoner in.
"Don't back off him," Ceres yelled, "If you back off, he will use it against you!"

Geovani arrived a few minutes behind Captain America and landed neatly on the ground and reverted to his Normal Form.
"God Damnit i missed all the fun that was here" He thought to himself.
"Well i suppose your both Avengers arent you." Geovani said flatly in his heavy russian accent and without a questioning tone as he had already seen the Avenger Badges that the two wore
"Why oh why do i always turn up late ever since i joined the Avengers ive been missing out on all of the fun thats been going on"
"Man I wish something big and Extraordinary would happen...well atleast more then the usual would happen because it seems whenever something big happens i always seem to miss it..." He said before he even waited for a reply, "So how is it going for you to do either of you have a high kill cont yet?"

"I'm not in the game to bake my opponents," Ceres answered in her own thick Canadian accent to the newest Avenger to show up not sure if something was lost in translation. The gentleman's accent was heavy so she very well could be misinterpreting his intent. Although, maybe she wasn't. Not all the Avengers had her philosophy of protecting all life and only killing in a very dire an extreme situation.
She had a feeling that after this latest attack, Tony Stark was going to be more adamant in her joining the Avengers full time. Apparently, she was a target for this new breed of villain.
Either way, the point was moot at the moment. Brutus was still armed, dangerous, and fighting back at her and the mutant girl who's name she still hadn't caught. Nix was impressive. She hadn't worked with him yet.
"Newcomer, I don't know your name. But until Captain America arrives, our only goal is to keep Brutus down but keep him alive. Cooking him into the next life isn't going to help us get answers from him later. He controls fire in one hand and water in the other and he's nicely strong. So what do you say, eh? Show him what you've got."
How did I end up the leader of this tete-a-tete? She tightened her grip on the ground to strengthen the barricade she made around the villain.

"Alright if he controls fire with one hand and water with the other wouldnt it be in our best intrest to make him put his hands together so that at best it would leave him with nothing more the steam." Geovani said this as he changed into his Wraith form(check profile its pretty kool razz )
Some people these days just dont want to get there hands dirty with killing though i do see some logic in her plan on keeping him "alive" or as the fact that i can merge with him i could probably sift through his memorys while im merged but that is dangerouse lest i bring on myself whatever emotions corrupted him...I best just restrain him and leave his memorys alone. He thought that all within a few seconds.
"If you can keep him restrained I can enter his body and possibly overpower his will and take enough control to make him clasp his hands long enough for you to bind them in place thus ending his ability to use his powers." And with that, and a horribly terrifying wail that would stun even the most adamantly eared person, he swiftly entered a matrix like float kick pose and charged forward towards Brutus hopefully being able to merge with him
Damn I hope this will be ended quickly with Captain America coming in I'll only be allowed so much fun.

Forellen scoweled at the new comer. She snorted looking back towards Brutus all ready thinking this new person a potential new threat. Sooner of later this guys' desire to 'have fun' was going to put him at odds with everyone else. The Avengers must be hard up for recruits if they took him in.
Her attention refocused on their target. She all ready wounded him when she bit down on the mans arm. That would, in a way, limit his fire power and Nix and Ceres had him trumped on the water. If he got physical then Forellen could deal with him. It seemed that they had this bad guy in the bag and were just waiting on him to wear himself out now.
So she turned her attention back to the new guy. He turned into some kind of wraith and let out a screetch that had her almost in tears as it shot from her sesitive feline ears and moved right down her spine. It left her somewhat stunned for a few moments as she shook her head trying to shake the effects of it.

Sibyl was left patrolling Metropolis while the big guys of the Justice League handled yet another "save the world" crisis. She didn't really mind helping where she could, but sometimes she didn't particularly care for playing second string.
~"Robbery in progress, all available cars, corner of 42nd and Lincoln. Over."~
Spinning around on a dime at the call over her radio, her tires burned against the pavement as she shot forward and headed for Lincoln. She finally had the action she had been waiting for all night.
She weaved through the traffic easily and with a final left turn, her sights fell on the three stereo typical armored black trucks, which definitely shouldn't have been half way up on the sidewalk and the fifteen or so guys decked in black disguises looting the building they had parked in front of.
Before her wheels rolled to a halt, she all ready had one weapon drawn and trained on the driver directly in front of her, firing off two rounds. Sibyl had at least five minutes before she could expect the police to show up and she no longer had the element of surprise as shouting of orders and the running of feet reached her ears.
She jumped onto the hood of the truck, pointing her gun to the driver on her right and pulling the trigger, regretting it a half second before his head collided with the horn, filling the surrounding area with the loud ominous sound. Sibyl watched the rush of figures through the side mirrors, pulling a second weapon and breathing deeply, forcing herself to channel out the drone of the vehicle and focus on the sounds that mattered.
She could see the third driver rummaging around behind his seat, for a weapon of his own most likely, but she ignored him for a moment as she mentally figured her odds. There was no doubt about it, she'd need help.

Shane was busy eating a delectible chocolate cake when his other cell phone rang. Picking up the matte black phone without a keypad or a screen at that matter, he just let the illusion of the food dissapear to be replaced by the half-cooked bowl of noodles in front of himself.
"I'm here."
"Good evening, Mr. McClintock. I hope you have had a fine day. We have an assignment for you."
"And if I say no?"
"Glad to see you are enthused by this one. We have reliable intelligence that Lex Luthor has stolen technology from Gorilla City."
"Gorilla what?"
"None of your concern. All that you care about is that Lex Luthor might be building a device to sate his megolomania. We want you and your mentor, if you can aquire his help, to investigate as law binds our hands. You must keep us informed, and if you miss your window, we will contact you."
"Okay then. When do I start."
"Yesterday. Good bye, Mr. Mclintock. Have a nice day."
And the phone line went dead. SLipping the slim black thing back into his pocket. He knows his first order of business. Leave Gotham and go to Metropolis. Finishing the noodles, Shane left his money on the table and walked out, heading for the train station.

Their fear had become true. Well, he wasn't sure if it would be called a fear since not much phased Captain America. The Avengers had hoped that this elemental group was isolated. It appears, now, that they're not. They are stronger and more venomous than earlier suggested. Either way, he was bringing Brutus in. The man was not going to get away. The mini jet landed in a safe area. It contained Captain America and Iron Man. They moved in secret because the quickest way to end the attack of Brutus was to hit him with surprise.
Surprise it was. The shield of Captain America came behind Brutus and knocked him forward into the wall that Ceres had made.
"Move back, team," Captain America ordered to the Avengers and non Avengers who were already on the scene. Iron Man moved in to secure Brutus with restraints. Standing in front of the team of Ceres, Nix, Ghost, and somebody he thought to be an X-Man, he nodded confidentally, "Good work at keeping him at bay. We're going to take him back to headquarters for questioning. We need to find out what they're up to. You may want to know that Reed Richards has gotten involved with this as well. His intelligence is showing that Dr. Doom may have an affiliation with these guys."
Ceres was busy pushing the Earth back to the way it was while Captain America was talking. It wasn't that she wasn't interested in what he was saying. She wasn't the type of superhero that liked leaving destruction in her wake. She wanted to preserve the land, not harm it.
"Captain America, I know I'm not a full time Avenger... but I think we should be a part of whatever action goes forth from this. I can't speak for the others here, but we have experience with Brutus now... and if this does go through Doom, you're going to need all the help you can get." She stood up after leveling the rock back under the water. Walking onto the shore, she wisped the air molecules around her team for an instant dry off from the water.
Captain American nodded but kept his stoic face, "We'll consider it. But either way, I want the four of debriefed at head quarters tomorrow. Get some rest tonight." He nodded to Iron Man as they both took an unconscious Brutus with them back to the Avengers home base.
"Well, you heard the man," Ceres said looking back down the river where her home was located, "If anybody needs a place to stay while they're here, my home is always open to other heroes. And if you don't, I will see you at Stark Towers tomorrow."
Slowly, she turned towards her home and started walking down the river bed. Why would their leader want my power... and why would they be dumb enough to think I'd join them?

Forellen watched as Captain America's shield sent Brutus into the wall knocking the mutant silly. It was so commical that she almost laughed at the sight. But with Brutus taken care of she looked around and ducked off behind some SUV. She shifted back and reset her image inducer. "My camera?!" She said remembering she had set it aside before attacking Brutus. Frowning she stepped back out around the SUV a small distortion flickering across her features as the image set itself.
She got back to the group in time for Captain America to tell them ehey had to be debreifed Stark Towers tomarrow. She shrugged slightly. "I live about fifteen minutes from here so it's a hop skip and a jump to my apartment." She told Ceres not really wanting to head to a debreifing but figuring she was stuck for it now. She absently thought of that cover art she had been working on. She remembered her camera and looked around. "Oh there it is." She sighed in releif and ran to get her camera. Which reminded her of another thing. "Hey.....?" She said looking for Ceres but the woman was gone. "Looks like I'm going to Stark Towers tomarrow." She said walking towards her car.

Knowing full well that the Dark Knight would find him after disapearing without a trace back in Gotham, Shane knew it was just a matter of time until the hero showed up so they could work together, hopefully. Until then, Shane was needed to do some re-freshing work on Metropolis. He had never actaully been in this city before and would need to know his way around before he attempted to tackle the Lex problem. Grabbing the tourist map off the stand at the station, he wondered if Lex would have outsourced the machine, or if he would have it built right here in the city. His megolomania was strong enough that he usually based his planes in Metropolis, but you can never be too cautious.
Pouring over the map, Shane didn't notice the that the news was on until a few minutes later when he heard the call of firearms. Turning around and looking at the television, he saw there was a standoff between the police, armed robbers, and a local hero. Apparently superman was not home, as he wasn't on the scene. Looking back at the map, he saw that the robbery was taking place only 12 blocks from the station.
"Well, if it is still going on, I guess I could help. They might have leads. Honest," he said to himself, knowing full well that the logic was faulty.

Private air travel was always welcomed when it came at the expense of Tony Stark. But it was good that the Avengers always made sure their own got where they needed to be. Their own... I never said I was one of them... She didn't want to exhaust her power getting herself across the state faster than normal commuting... and she didn't want to drive.
She left her house in the care of her neighbors and frowned a bit that she wouldn't be able to attend the birthday party Mrs. Grady was throwing for their son. Allison had a fascination with other super powered people. Powers were like a tattoo in a way... they defined something about a person. Well, that's not entirely true... powers don't define a person, how you use those powers do. That thought led her memories trail to her ex-husband. He thought being a fire mutant defined him as a destructive person despite Allison trying to teach him otherwise. He acted on that destruction and now he was sitting in a federal prison.
Trying to remove those thoughts from her immediate memory, she looked out the window and couldn't help but feel unnatural sitting in the jet. She wanted to be out there.. to be with the clouds. The flight was rather quick so the feeling didn't last long. A sigh of relief came from her when she touched down on land and could feel the earth's energy at her feet.
She had been a guest at Stark Towers before so she knew where she was going. The Avengers head quarters was at the top three levels. Well, she was at the building so much she almost had assigned guest quarters and knew exactly where to drop off her bag that contained things like her uniform. Looking around for Tony, she poked her head into his office.
"Is anybody else here for the briefing?" She asked.
"From your area of things, no," He responded, "But we do have other guests... this goes further than originally thought."
"Wonderful," She frowned, "No time for me to practice then, eh?" She rather liked their facilities because it provided her a controlled environment to train in. Back home, she had to focus on not destroying elements around her.
"There's always time for practice," Tony stood up from his desk and ushered her to the training facilities. He punched in any codes needed for Allison to gain access to the facility, "If you need the locker room..."
"No, I'm okay," She answered. Truth was she wanted to try something she had been working on, making elements into armor when her own uniform wasn't protection enough, "Tony, thank you for our help back home. I probably would not have been able to stave off that clod myself... Having the Avengers at my call probably saved lives."
He put a hand on her shoulder and smiled, "Sunny, I don't think I have ever seen you humble. You have many good traits we look for here, but humility isn't one often shown. I will etch that one into memory."
She just shook her head. He probably was partially right. Like many super heroes, she often did get a little arrogant with her ability. But for him to call her on it, it was okay. Many others would have been given her icy stare and she would have retreated back to mother nature somehow. Maybe somewhere... No maybe... it is true... she had a school girl crush on Tony since her first run in with the Avengers. That crush was one reason she played hard to get with the team. No relationship ended well with her or most heroes in general. Not that she thought she would have a chance in hell with somebody like Tony.
"You're always so kind, and I mean that in the nicest way," She said with a hint of sincerity and sarcasm as she stepped into the training area. Tony moved to the observation area to ensure nothing went wrong. Allison had never used the facility and it would have been careless to leave her. Besides, there was time before more arrived for the debriefing and planning sessions.

Sibyl was relived to finally have the local authorities arrive. Fifteen unarmed men she was handle if she was smart. But they ended up holding a bit more fire power than she was originally anticipated. Currently she was bashing a fist into the face of one assailant as bullets from both sides flew around her. The close sound of a cocking rifle gave her ample warning and she lifted her leg up behind her to connect with the masked man behind her, heaving the man in her grasp around to collide with the second man.
She wiped her brow briefly before chasing after a runner. The police could handle the situation, at least until she got back. Her purple sneakers hit the pavement seconds after the sounds reached her ears as she turned down one block and another, keeping the man clear in her sights. Secretly she was thanking the goof off training Flash had given her that month last summer she had nothing else better to do. She knew, without it, she wouldn't have lasted seven blocks, but the two had almost reached the train station and Sibyl wasn't having any trouble keeping up.
The violet hair woman half wondered if the man she was chasing had some kind of super speed or endurance, what with the rate he was going, but shook the thought away and instead focused on nabbing him before he jumped aboard a cabin.

Not in the in crowd for the private jet the Avengers used to get their people from point A to point B Forellen was forced to drive there. She called up her favorite website and got directions that would take her to Stark Tower. She ended up leaving for Stark Tower early in the morning. So in the quiet light of dawn her car was speeding down the highway on her way to debreifing. She stifled a yawn and took a sip of her coffee as she nosed her speed up a little wanting to get there before the debreifing was over.
Many miles and a stop for gas later Forellen was pulling into the parking garage for Stark Tower. Pulling into a parking space Forellen cut the engine and slipped out of the car slipping her purse over a shoulder she checked the charge on her image inducer and nodded having a good charge on it still she walked across the lot towards the tower. Now how did she go about and do this. Forellen frowned and hopped someone would be there to lead her up because she had no idea where she had to go.
A breif moment at the reception desk and Forellen was ushered to security. There was a bit of a problem there since they wanted her to remove her watch. Which she would not. They managed through that though and she was soon taking the elevator up to where the Avengers made their base.
