maybe links dad was the deku tree and the REAL reason his mother brought him to live there was because her parents didn't want to take care of a tree-boy...... eek

so, heres how it goes...

Links mother was a beautiful, and powerful, Hyrulian, and she was traveling through the lands on a vacation she fell in love with a man that lived in a distant part of Hyrule. He too fell in love and eventually they...slept together.
Well, they really felt no spark in that and so they decided to break it off. but it was too late for Links mother to get out of it quietly because a news reporter had been staying the night at the same inn the two...slept together in, and the reporter planned on spreading the word.
So they had to hide all the evidence they could. So Links mother and father killed the reporter and decided to hide out separate since they didn't really love each other anymore.
His mother stayed in Hyrule, insisting that she met no one and that any rumors were just that and it should all be dropped. And his father changed his name and moved out of hyrule where he was adopted by a family who covered for him by saying he was their loving son Ganondorf that was to be the new king(ah, the perks of new identities) And everything was going well until a few months after the incident, links mother found that she was pregnant. And since she had spent most of her gold covering up the murder and scandal, she wasn't going to have enough to take care of a child by herself. (all the local men were already taken)
She asked Links father for help but he would have nothing of a mistake child and when she threatened to call apon the King of Hyrule to force financial support, Links father went mad. He swore he'd kill her and the baby before he would give up any of his new-found riches and plotted to do just that.(he became a very greedy man)
After the first assasination attempt that fatally wounded Links mother, she faught to save the only thing that she could, her son. And during her travels she remembered a peaceful place called Kokiri village that was gaurded by a great and magical forest spirit, and headed off in the night. But the trip turned out to be too much for her, and when she got to the forest, she had barely enough energy to beg sancuary for her newborn child.
The tree spirit aggreed, knowing that the child would be the only way to defeat the demon that lust and greed had created, and raised him as one of the children of the forest until the time came for him to confront his father and defeat him.
For a while, Ganon had thought that his assasination attempt had been succesful until some years later when, while riding through the woods, he noticed a forest child that didn't fit in, playing with the others. He watched for a while until he realized that the child was definately hyrulian and had the eyes of the one he had killed. He would have killed the boy then, but he couldn't gain access to the forest being that he was an adult and so he traveled around to the great forest spirit, only to be refused entrance into the forest.
Angered, he put a curse on the spirit and swore he would gain access one way or another, and left.
And that is when OoT begins.
