Adjo was glad his friends weren't there to see him, because he was pretty sure he was blushing and he mentally berated himself for enjoying that too much. He gulped and shook his head about, letting out a breath, "Thanks, and yea, I can take care of the rest myself." he said simply, putting all his effort into not sounding nervous. He then set about grooming himself.

Hale'oki stepped back from Adjo once again, an amused chuckle escaping her maw. The small noises he made and his tone was unmistakable - he was nervous. She shook her head and made another soft amused chuckle at that.
"Relax," She said, the edges of her mouth upturned in a grin. "You are unfamiliar with social grooming? It is common for some creatures to do such to others."
She suddenly raised her ears above her head attentively, swivelling one back on itself to listen directly behind her.
"Curiousity question now," She said quickly. "Are you hungry?"

Adjo let out a breath and silently berated himself for acting like some kit that couldn't handle being around a girl. His mother groomed him all the time, since he was a baby. When she asked if he was hungry, he nodded, knowing she couldn't see the gesture, "Yes, I am somewhat. Wandering so far from home burns alot of energy." he admitted.

Hale nodded in response, still grinning with amusement. "Very well. This area is teeming with rabbits, and so plucking one, two, or five off won't harm the natural ecology of the area. Infact, it will help some of the ground level plants to grow back."
She made a loud strange chirping noise, moving away. "Stay here and groom, or follow if you please. Either way, the pickings are easy in this forest. I will return shortly."
With that, she slinked away into the nearest scrub, silent in her movements.

Adjo listened and nodded his head, "I'll go with you, two hunting are more successful." he said and he followed after her, staying silent like he always did when he went hunting either with his mother or on his own.

Hale heard him move behind her and she moved ahead, taking the head lead. She lowered her head and kept her nose to the ground, moving along at a casual pace for now, tongue flicking out of her mouth, attempting to pick up a fresh scent trail.
She soon found one and alerted the fact her hunting comrade with a low 'Rrr-rrt-rrt' sound and a squeak. Her tails wagged excitedly - a wild boar! This would be big enough to feed both of them.
It was then she spoke to him through her telepathy abilities, speaking to him only with her mind, making no physical noise herself.
"I'll charge ahead here. You can move in from the side and take it by surprise. This one is big, and has sharp weapons on it's snout. Although it is bigger than us, I still advise being careful."
She smirked and ran on ahead, hoping she could still catch up with the wild-boar. It had been a while since she had bacon.

Adjo listened as she made her primal noises and then spoke to him through her mind. He growled his acknowledgement and then quietly started to go off to get in position, flicking his tongue to keep on the scent.

Hale'oki continued onward, picking up in her pace. She was almost running now, the scent was close. And then she heard its owner, grunting as it was disturbed by the noises coming from somewhere behind it. At this point Hale charged, dashing forwards blindly. She kept her ears high and listened hard, judging the distance between the boar and her. After another moment of closing the distance between them, she pounced, clawed paws expertly digging into the boar's back.
It gave a wailing screech in pain, and then Hale drove her jaws down, biting hard into it's back. While she had been able to sniff the boar out, she had underestimated its size and it fought against her best efforts to keep it pinned down. Hale'oki snarled in frustration, trying to hold on as best as she could manage.
"Damn it..."

Adjo had just arrived when he heard the squeal of pain from the boar and his large ears picked up as Hale wrestled with it to try and bring it down, and it sounded like she was losing. He growled, the urge to protect her coming up and he didn't fight it. He charged forward and tackled the boar to where he could clamp his own strong jaws down on the throat, ignoring the sharp hooves that drove into his legs. He could taste the blood entering into his mouth, but he pressed down harder, more blood running down the sides of his muzzle.

Hale bit hard into the wild boar, dagger-sharp teeth and claws razing through flesh wherever they could hold their grip. The edges of her maw were upturned in a slight grin as she felt the boar jolt and spasm as Adjo joined in with trying to drag it down. Hale continued to hold the kill, grinning further as it grew weaker, and within the next few moments it had died and given up it's fight altogther.
Hale finally released her jaws, pulling her claws out of the kill. The fur on her paws was sticky with blood, and she lowered her head, beginning to groom herself off.
"Are you alright?" She asked Adjo, curious. Boars were good prey and tasty, but they could be dangerous if allowed to fight.

Once he felt the boar go still in his death, he let the throat go and he sat back, panting lightly. It had been some time since he hunted something that put up such a fight, but the rush felt good. His ears twitched when Hale asked if he was alright, and he moved his legs about, wincing, "A few scratchs, but nothing that won't heal. What's more important is that you are alright." he said, licking the blood off his maw.

Hale had been preening her paws when she heard Adjo make the strange comment. Or so, she thought it was strange, anyway. Her ears rose high on her head and she stopped in her tracks for a moment or too, her attention on the other. She had honestly never heard a Nightmare say such a thing, not even her own surrogate son. It astounded her... and yet at the same time, it was very flattering.
"Well, thank you..." She said quietly.
She spent a few more moments pondering the comment, and then she lowered her head, biting into the animal's rib-cage area. Of all the parts of a kill, ribs were her favourite.
She turned an ear towards him again, hearing his front feet step on the ground in a not-so normal manner. Was he hurt and trying to conceal it?
"Are you sure that you are alright?" She said finally.

"He got me with his hooves, suckers were sharp, but like I said, they will heal." he said, moving about so he could get at the leg. His head bumped against hers twice as he sought out his favorite part, but soon he found it and was ripping into.

Hale grinned. "If you are sure, then I will not bother you about it again." Though she would be sure to keep an eye on him now, just in case. She chuckled as she felt his head bump against hers and she bit hard into the ribs she was chewing on, not seeming to mind at all. She tore the ribs in her mouth off the carcass completely, and carried them away a few feet, sitting down to eat them.
"So tell me," She said, inbetween bites, chewing into the fresh rib meat and bone. "You are indeed unique. I have never met another equal like you. It is pleasant to meet another like myself that is not conniving, bitter, angry, and generally hostile. Were you raised differently, or do you actively chose to not engage in some of the species' darker activities?"

Adjo grabbed the end of the leg and easily tore it off from the bone and he took it over to Hale and laid down in front of her, happily tearing into the meat. "I would like to believe it was because I was raised so differently. My mother, she can have a bit of a temper and attitude, but that is mainly if she feels someone is threatening her family. I was raised amongst Angelics, a Seraphim and the Normals, so I saw no reason why the would be 'beneath' me, plus mother loves our family and taught me that family is important and needs to be protected. That is why I am not bitter, full of hate or the need to 'take out' the Normals. I would defend them from another Nitemare if I could." he explained. He went back to eating, blood covering his maw again.
