Irons looked over at Szalka and he waited for the oppertune moment to attack the doe. Then he gave the signal and howled, sending the doe running in fear, straight towards Szalka, Irons hot on it's heels.
Something was bothering Szalka. Irons would bet his position as alpha that it had something to do with him. What could he possibly have done wrong now? Or maybe it was something he hadn't done, when he thought of it. Hadn't the Shaman's prime concern been his lack of an heir when she first came? Now there was a subject he wanted to dance around. First of all, he would give no other wolf the title of alpha while he was around, and the idea of having a... fixed mate made him ill. And children.
Pups. What kind of father would he be? His own had died before Irons even really knew him. His mother had been completely insane. Well... maybe if he was lucky he would come across someone strong enough to take his place and then dub them alpha. It seemed like a much better idea than going through any of that other stuff.
Still... without heirs he looked vaunerable... This was the only subject, when it came to being Alpha, that he hated. With a passion.

Of course Szalka realised he was still young, and though she wished to have a preist or preistess to help her, she had heard rumours from Skule they were acquiring one, but still. She didn't want to bring it up, but eventually, in a year or twos time, she'd have to make him see he wasn't immortal, and if he wished to appease the spirits and his pack, he would have to have pups.
And he didn't have to shre the title alpha with his mate, look at Szalka's mother, she was only Shaman. Had the alpha, her mate died by natural causes, Szalka's eldest brother would have taken the title of alpha and their mother would have remained shaman. And if Irons wanted, he could always have pups he claimed illigitimate and only claim them as his when he was on his death bed, solving the problem of being killed by one of his own chldren when they wished to suceed him.
As the doe neared her, Szalka sprang forth and latched onto the creatures neck, inflicting the death blow and bringing the now bleeding creature to the ground. After it stopped moving, Szalka glanced to Irons. She knew it was customary that the alpha got the first feeding if he wished, and she was on such a role she figured it would look bad if she was rude now.

Irons sighed and nodded to her, "Go ahead, I've already eaten today," he mentioned, sitting down beside her. Of course, he had considered all of that. He just... kids... pups. The very idea made him nervous. All he had to do was picture his mother's face and he knew it. He knew exactly how things would turn out. His pups would end up like her...
...or was it like him? He wasn't sure, so he chose to ignore the prospect entirely. Of course, if the right someone came along, he was certain he would be able to deal with it. Besides, if he couldn't be a good parent, he was sure someone in the pack would be able to watch them for him.

For now Szalka wouldn't bring it up, she laid down at the side of the carcass and placed her paws on it and dug in. She didn't eat like she was starving, infact she ate fairly slow, as to not stuff her self too much and make herself sick. She remembered the first time she fasted for a ceremony, or some such thing, and then gorged herself with food after, she had gotten ill and almost died because she ate more thne her shruken stomach could hold.
After she'd eaten ehr fill and licked her paws and muzzle clean, she turned to Irons and stood. "I suppose you'll be returning to the packs meeting place with the others?" She asked not really wanting to socialize right now. She had been enjoying this peaceful time with Irons and half hoped he'd join her out on the edge of the packs lands a bit longer.

Irons shrugged, shaking himself out and standing, "No, I think not. I have nothing important to discuss with them at the moment. After the ceremony, I suppose everyone else needs a break as much as you and I do." He seemed to be in no particular hurry to go anywhere. In fact, now that Szalka was acting like any other member of the pack, he was perfectly fine wih staying with her.

Szalka smiled a bit to herself and shook out her fur, turning and slowly starting off as if patrolling around the border. Surely she wasn't, but she decided to stay close to the border and walk while she talked with Irons. "I'll be glad for your company then." She said with a smile as she glanced back at him and waited for him to follow.
"At the ceremony, I had a vision." She wasn't sure why she wished to bring it up, but now that she and Irons were on good terms and he wasn't threatening to kill her at the end of every sentence, she figured this was probably what she had seen in her vision. A peaceful agreement being reached between the to, or just peace.

"Hum...what about?" Irons asked, walking next to Szalka. He didn't know why he was, but he supposed that really he didn't mind her at all right now. Walking with her wasn't so bad when they weren't trying to kill each other.
The vision was of some interest to him. Especially if it had something to do with him. Knowing things in advance was usually useful. Very useful. And since Szalka was a good shaman, Irons was willing to bet that she would be right.

"About the pair of us. I'm not exactly sure what it meant, but I believe that something may happen, soon. I'm not sure if it means we shall grow close as friends, or have a cataclysmic argument and throw the pack into turmoil. I'm now thinking that perhaps it means we shall no longer be at one anotehrs throats. That idea has become more real now that I've been able to get along with you this morning."
She was also sure she'd have to induce more visions tonight and try to see what else might happen in relation to herself and Irons. If they were going to throw the pack into turmoil, Szalka would like to know ahead of time and hopefully try and prevent it.

Irons was thinking somewhat along the same line as Szalka, "Yes... let's assume that our good moods are permanent. Should a termoil be somewhere in the future... especially between us, then..." Irons shook his head and sighed, "No... I think that good moods are much better than bad ones when it comes down to it."
A vision about himself and Szalka... making a mental checklist, he thought of all the possibilities a vision like that could lead to.

Szalka had considered alot of the options that her vision could mean and there was one that crossed her mind every time she she thought about the posibilities. But a match between her and Irons seemed farfetch'd. Surely he'd look bad if she showed any intrest in Irons, no doubt they might think she was looking to put her family back in power, but honestly, if she did ever go after Irons as a mate, it would be because she wanted to, not because it would have been what her power hungry father wanted.
"I agee. So any word about getting new pack members?" She asked glancing over to him after side stepping an upturned root.

"Yes. I sent him on a little test mission. We'll just have to see how well he does. He claims that he would be interested in training as a priest. So, perhaps you'll have something to do fairly soon, training him. He seems reasonable enough... a little flashy, but reasonable. We'll see if he survives," Irons said, not bothering to question how she knew about the new wolf.
Perhaps she had a vision. However... thinking about her real vision, he also considered that there could be something romantic there. Though... romance almost made him cringe, as per usual. Relationships... real ones, always did that to him. Friends, or wolves that he was on friendly terms with, never bothered him... romance though...
...
...
...well... him and Szalka would just be odd, wouldn't it?

But it could work... They were both very strong figures in the packs eyes, Szalka the god scent shaman and Irons, the alpha who brought peace and order to the pack. They would definately have powerful pups, and intimidate outsiders if they were a mated pair. But, it was a bit. Weird. To think about. Szalka did admit Irons was handsome and had colors that did compliment her, his tans and her tans and teals. They'd definately look lovely together, and intimidating. But would these good terms last forever or would they bicker if they did persue a relationship?
And then there was the idea of settling down. Szalka had never been able to see herself with pups. Oh no, maybe if they were her apprentices? But not her own pups, that she was mother of? She knew she wouldn't be able to handle it. Or, would she? She might make a good mother? Oh it was so confusing.
So she changed her thoughts to somethign she could think clearer about. "Ah, so he wants to be a preist? I'll have to be careful then. My mothers preists and preistesses where always plotting against her. I'll have to find a way to make it so he can not over take my position. That is if he survives..." And there was another thing. Szalka couldn't think about having pups because her preist or preistess might try to kill them to make her renounce her title fo Shaman.
And then she was use to using her femanine charms to get her way from time to time. No doubtedly, she'd probably find it in good reason to try so if this new male came to become her preist. And the relationship between preist and shaman, or preistess and shaman was an odd one. Szalka could never tell if her mother was having affairs with her preists, or was only the way she was with them because she wished to be able to control them easier.

Irons considered this, but then he looked at her, a knowing look on his face, "Priests and Priestesses exist not only to help a Shaman, but to ensure that they continue to be powerful enough for their position. It is the same in the pack with the Alpha. Though I care for all the members of my pack, any one of them could challenge me for my position if they so desired. That is merely the way of things, I have no issue with it." Which, so far as he was concerned, there was no issue to have. The pack had to stay strong. A weak member had to die, it was merely the way of their world.
If he were to have pups, would any of them be too weak to survive? Irons was powerful, and so was Szalka... why was he back on the tangent of having her as a mate again? True, Szalka was one of the more... acceptable of the three females in his pack. An alpha and a hunter, virtually unheard of, though Aleni was certainly strong enough, he doubted they would have an issue... and Indira was a strong enough woman... but so was Szalka, with her addition of spiritual powers. Really, no matter how awkward it was to think about, the most realistic mate option, unless he selected someone from an allied pack, was Szalka.
Irons supposed that stranger relationships had existed... though none were coming to mind at that particular moment.

"I know that if I grow weak it is nessecary to replace me, but Preists often times go about ridding the pack of their Shaman not because the Shaman needs to be replaced, but because said preist or preistess grows power hungry and often times poisons the Shaman, or has them killed by another. There is often no challenge ever placed." Szalka said carefully, trying not to grow annoid with Irons view of this. Yes if a member of the pack grows weak, they must be eliminated, onlky the strong will survive and such. But it was weak and cowardly to assassinate someone to get their position.
Szalka also had to admit she would more then likely be very disdainful towards Indira or Aleni if Irons took either of them as a mate, and she would be rather unwilling towards a female outsider. Funny how she wanted IRons to have an heir, yet didn't like any of the females in the pack. So she guessed she would only be happy if either Irons had pups with one of them, but did not declare them their mate, or made her his mate. And she was a shaman with great spiritual ability. She doubted Irons could find a female to rival her strength, knowledge or shamanic skills anywhere. In an ally pack, or enemy pack.

Irons sighed, "An assassination, while distasteful, is a part of our world. An Alpha must grant permission for that, as always... I am not so inclined towards assassinations. If the priest wants your position, he'll have to fight you for it. Though I suppose if someone were to assassinate me... that would be my own issue. I doubt the pack would be all that impressed," which turned around back to the problem of a heir in case Irons was killed by someone the rest of the pack did not believe to be an adiquit leader.
"My point is, there is no need to worry about an assassination attempt. I will prevent such a thing... and should anyone try anyway, it would displease the spirits greatly, and I would kill them in order to appease those spirits." Which was true enough. Making the spirits upset was something that Irons tried very hard to avoid.
...which still meant he needed an heir. Gods damn it all...
