"Well I would hope that we would be able to fly the ship back. It would be better than having to carry it back here."
Regal then looks at Gerbo.
"You are a wizard, why don't you teleport us to one of these cities so we can ask questions then?"

"Well i might have a teleportation device somewhere... hold on here."
Gerbo runs off around his house looking for something. After only a few moments he comes running back downstairs.
"Well i found this scroll of teleportation... but if we use this, then we have to find a different way back! Though if we find the airship we would have a ride back for sure."

"How about now then!"
Gerbo started reciting the words written on the ancient scroll. A dark mist started to form around the feet of the group... enveloping them in a smog colored cloud. At the point when everyone was fully covered, a large purple lightning bolt stuck the mist, energizing it with magic, whisting away the hapless adventurers into the unknown...

After the spell works its magic, you find yourself successfully teleported to a distant city. Of course, due to a quirk in the spell, you arrive upside down and several feet off the ground, like some game you might recall if it had been programmed yet.
After getting up and dusting yourselves off, you observe the city around you. The architecture is quite distinct from your home region, and the wealth the overseas trade has granted this town has allowed for the construction of some magnificent edifices.
A few people stop and look at you oddly for a moment after you teleport in, but most people simply look at you then turn back to whatever they were doing. Multiple towers that seem to belong to local elementalist wizards, plus at least one building that looks like an obvious mage's hall, indicate that this town is likely no stranger to magic either.
You have the whole town open to you in your quest. At this time of day, the streets are bustling with laypersons, tradesmen, laborers, and scholars. Walking the streets on routine patrol are two-man details of what appear to be town guardsmen, their shields, swords, and chainmail speaking to the town's wealth. Also seen are detachments that appear to be from a regional, or even continental, authority; they wear plate armor and are concentrated further away from you, by the docks.

After Gerbo picks himself up off the ground and brushes the dust off of him he looks around.
"Ok then! I have an idea! First I will go to the mages hall and ask for all known records or maps they might have here that could be useful in our search for the air ship!"
Then Gerbo pointed to the docks to continue his speech.
"Firu and Regal, you guys can both go ahead and check out the docks and see if you can learn of everything there. You should also try the local pub, in case you can't find anything at the docks. We will meet back here at nightfall!"
Gerbo then gave himself a proud look for being so smart.
"Oh and by the way, don't worry about trying to fit in... We poped out of no-where up in the air right in the middle of the city, and no one even LOOKED our way. I think this place is no stranger to the wierdness that follows adventurers..."

"OK, i think we could rough some people up on the docks. Or just talk to them either way, we spend too much time around wizards if you know what I mean. Lets be off then!"
Regal then turned to Gerbo and yelled,
"Hey Gerbo, don't blow up anything while we are gone!"
Turning back to Firu,
"Lets go find the Harbor Master, he should know the most about the docks and surrounding waters. That only makes sense that he would know about Every Ship thats been in and out of these docks for a long while. He might even have old back records from when the island was still there, or perhaps, ancient charts that show the original location of the island itself. Lets be off then!"
Regal then started walking towards the docks.

Firu and Regal: You arrive at the docks. As was visible from the city center, there are groups of heavily armored soldiers stationed on the docks. The docks are bustling with activity, and you see dozens of ships just on the segment you are on loading and unloading cargo. The ships, however, look much more like war ships than trade ships, and you can see the marine detachments keeping watch on the decks of the ships.
A trip the the harbor master's office doesn't turn up all too much information; the city wasn't founded until after the destruction of the continent, or so you believe. After breaking the bad news to you, he leans forward.
"Now though, you both look like capable sorts. How would you like some honest work? Those Confederate soldiers are doing a decent job protecting the docks so far, but if things keep up like this we'll eventually be overrun by those darned demons." He pauses a bit.
"A raid last night hit one of the detection spheres at our perimeter, the one covering our south-western tidal zone. With that out, there's a chance that some of those demons could make it into the city undetected. Any time I move port security into place to cover our mages to float another one, the demons mass near the opposite perimeter threatening to overrun the docks. You think you could cover our mage while he gets another detection sphere up? I can make it worth your while, of course."
Gerbo: The mages at the hall are quite welcoming, and even inquisitive of your particular research and expertise. The mage's hall was established so wizards of all sorts could come and exchange information, so assistance is forthcoming.
Two maps are provided, one ancient and drawn a few decades before the assumed destruction of the continent, and the other one only a year old. The sea has risen some since then, and the current port city, Thial, was established at its current site because the site of the old city is now half flooded and a swampy mess. Thial used to be about a mile inland in the time of the old continent, but is now obviously perched perfectly coastally.
A wizard who identifies himself as Hreeth, Thial's leading divination mage, considers your task to be a truly difficult one.
"I have spent years off and on trying to divine the location of that lost continent. All my mundane research has given me a very clear idea of where to focus my efforts, but my arcane efforts constantly turn up nothing. It requires great concentration to divine at such a great distance and through such an obscuring medium, but mentally feeling along the fault lines -- a great sight easier, I must say -- hasn't shown me any sign of civilization. It's as if the continent, and all civilization on it, simply disappeared."
Hreeth shows you on the map where his research has led him to believe the continent was most likely located, and offers you his most sincere good wishes. The mystery of the lost continent, he says, has been a mystery for far too long.
