"Mmhmm," Takumi agreed, kneeling down. "I just can't get mad at her for very long. I think the record was 5 minutes." He grinned and gave Mikan a playful shove. The dog hopped back to regain her balance before charging at her master and licking his face enthusiastically.
"Aagh, you know I don't like that!" he scrambled backwards, wiping at his face. "Down, Mikan! Down, girl!" The dog finally obeyed, sitting back on her haunches and grinning sloppily.
He got up and brushed himself off, walking back to where Minori was and stopping behind her. "Weeell... you wouldn't mind me keeping you company for a while longer, would you?" he said goodnaturedly, looking down at the girl. His hand wavered uncertainly in the air above her, as if wanting to come to rest on her shoulder, but instead fell back to his side.

Minori grinned. "You never can get mad at pets for long. Though my kitten is usually the one getting mad at me." This was true, it was usually when Minori didn't pay her much attention, which made Rose rather miffed, stalking off with her tail in mid-air. In the end, Minori had to try to coax her out of being angry.
Minori laughed, sitting down on the sand as she watched Mikan jump up at Takumi. The girl looked up at him as he approached, not knowing what to say at first. Especially when her heart was still beating like crazy in her chest. "Well...if you don't mind keeping me company." She flashed him a grin, brown eyes sparkling.

"Is that so? Well cats do have that certain attitude." Takumi knew very well from his experiences with Amadeus, Ena's Russian Blue. Why she named him after Mozart, I'll never know... "I don't think I'm much of a cat person though. I bet I could stay mad longer if it concerns them," he laughed.
"Of course I don't mind. Anything for the lady," he replied with a wink, glad that Minori was finally feeling better. He flopped down next to her, oblivious of the fact that the jacket around his waist was getting covered with sand. Mikan scooted over to the two of them and laid down next to her master, nudging at him with her muzzle for attention.
"Silly dog. What am I going to do with you?" he murmered, ruffling her fur. His blue eyes, once clouded with concern, now cleared up and seemed to dance with mirth.

"Not all." Minori said decidedly, hugging her legs to her chest. "My friend's cat is quite friendly, which is weird, because she's my kitten's mother." This was true, Sam, her best friend in Australia had given Rose to her from her cat's litter. "Or maybe it's because I pampered her." She joked lightly.
A slight blush crossed her face as he sat down beside her. Okay, don't be dumb. She ordered herself, trying to keep calm. Minori directed her attention to Mikan for now and smiled affectionately down at the dog.
"Do you know?" She said, staring into the sky, watching the clouds float by. "There was this time in Australia when a guy from the basketball team asked me out. Then after that, I overheard that he was bragging to his friends about how many girls he kissed. So, when he was about to kiss me, I...kicked him in the nuts." The girl laughed at the memory. "Pretty silly, huh?"

"I can imagine," he said with a smile. It was hard not to pamper a pet. "Well I have yet to come across an extremely friendly cat. Perhaps I can meet your friend's one day?"
He glanced curiously at Minori before mentally shrugging and scratching Mikan behind the ear absentmindedly.
Takumi raised his eyes to the sky as well, just so he'd have somewhere to focus his gaze on. "Mmmm... not quite," he replied. "You should always defend yourself against people like that. I'm sure I'd do the same in your place... maybe hit him over the head as well." He laughed along with Minori. "So what happened after you kicked him in the nuts?" he asked with a grin.

"Maybe." Then Minori's smile faded as the image of that friend floated in her mind. Sam. The girl missed her best friend terribly. Sure, they could meet over webcam and chat online, but that wasn't the same as hanging out with each other anymore. Then she forced the smile back on. "If she flies over during her summer holidays, I'll ask her to bring her cat."
The girl chuckled. "He seemed too much in pain for me to do anything else." She could remember Raneth practically rolling on the floor in pain while the girls gathered around him laughing. Take that for treating us like toys. "After that? We had a celebration at MacDonalds and had a good laugh about it. And the story spread around the school and all the girls started to tease him. I don't think he dated anyone ever since."
"How about you? Any weird dating experiences?"

"That'd be great," he said. He blinked at an oddly shaped cloud for a moment before a thought occurred to him. "Your friend doesn't live here?"
"Wonderful," he laughed. "If I were on the scene, I would've applauded you. It serves him right for doing that; I can't stand those people... there were a few in my middle school." He shook his head at the thought. "They always like bragging about these things around the guys so I hear it often."
Takumi yawned widely, propping himself on one arm as he used his other hand to cover his mouth. "Let's see... I remember one girl turned out to have quite a few bad habits. It was awkward being with her in the restaurant." He winced at the memory. "Other than that... I haven't had too many dates." His father preferred that he focus on school and not "foolish games".

"Nope. She lives in Austrailia."Minori answered as cheerfully as she could. She missed everyone back there, but she was also quite happy here, wasn't she? With her family, new friends and well...new feelings.
"Really?" The girl's face burst into a grin, tilting her head as she looked at him. Her insides were practically jumping about crazily at his words of praise. The she blinked. "There were some in your school?" Oh well. Some rich boys had such swollen heads. And it was because she had encountered such people that she had wanted to escape from her rich life. She didn't want to end up like them.
"Ew? In a restaurant?" Minori laughed. "I can think up of many disgusting things that happen in a restaurant. Poor you." Not that it ever happened to her of course.
"Why not?" Puzzlement and confusion appeared in her eyes. "I mean, you're a nice guy."

"Wow! I don't think I've been there before," he said with interest. "What's it like? Maybe one day we could go and visit your friend instead." He had always wanted to hear the Austrailian accent for himself. It sounded like a silly wish, but he supposed it was due to his interest in language.
"Yes, of course. I'm sure there's some in every school..." He shrugged. "Well... maybe not. I sincerely hope not. But... that's the way human nature is, I suppose." Takumi wished he had done something about it at his middle school. But no... he had stayed silent and let it happen. But then, he was never one to ask for trouble.
He grinned sheepishly. "I kept shooting apologetic glances at the people seated around us. Not what I would call a good first date."
"Hm? Well... for one, I haven't really tried asking a lot of girls out. I guess that one date scared me," he said jokingly. "And my father doesn't really approve of me going out all the time like that. He thinks I'm wasting my life away." He wrinkled his nose and sighed. "Ever since my mother passed away, he's become more and more uptight."

"It's...wonderful there." Minori replied. What else could she say? She felt like if she tried to describe it, it would do the place no justice. We? Her heart gave a lurch. He wanted to go there...with her? Get a grip, silly. He probably wants to go with you because you know the place.
There were people of all kinds in each school, but Minori had been wondering if a person like Vanessa would appear in Ouran. She hoped not, of course, but it was a very worrying thing.
"First date...so..you asked her out? Why did you?" She knew she was getting a little nosy, but she wanted to know. Besides, why would he ask someone with ignorance about manners out?
The girl lapsed into silence. She didn't know that Takumi's mother had passed away and was at a loss of what to say. Apologise? But it wasn't as if she asked him anything about it...
"That's funny. My parents seem to be different. My dad's always asking, 'Minori, when are you going to get a boyfriend?' and he called every single day when I was in Australia, specifically to ask whether I started dating yet." She shook her head with a slight grin. "He's pretty protective of me, I guess."

"I'm sure it is," he said with a nod. "I don't really like traveling by myself though." He'd never really left Japan too many times because of this. It wasn't that he didn't like traveling with Ena, but it just didn't have the same feel as going with friends of the same age group.
He stuck his tongue out childishly. "Weeell... I met her at a convention during one of the panels for my father's company. She seemed very enthusiastic... and she really is a nice girl. I didn't know anyone there so we just sort of hanged out for the remainder of the time, and naturally I asked to meet up with her again." He shrugged. "It's mainly bad eating habits."
"I can tell," Takumi said with a grin, not noticing Minori's moment of silence. "So anyways... since your dad is so eager for you to go out more, you wouldn't mind keeping me company once in a while, right?" His father's strict nature kept him indoors most of the time, and it was finally getting on his nerves.
He winked at her. "I'm sure I can come up with some excuses for the parental unit." It really paid off to be good friends with the household servants. It was mainly how he was able to get out today; he trusted the servants to cover for him. "Plus, I'm a guy. I'm sure your dad wouldn't object?"

"Yeah, it does get rather boring on the plane." Minori recalled. The trip she took to Australia and back was with only herself. She couldn't sleep on the plane for some reason, so she fiddled with the television and the games for a while before getting bored.
The girl laughed, brown eyes twinkling up at him. "If you think that's bad, you should see Theo shoveling burgers and fries down his throat like no tomorrow." It was funny how guys had such a big appetite, and yet they didn't seem to put on weight.
"Of course not." Minori chirped back, her eyes sweeping across the park nervously. Was that a rustle she heard? No, it was just her imagination. It seemed like her father didn't really send bodyguards after her. "Object to what?"

"I agree," he replied, thinking of the few but long flights he had endured. The games were only fun for a while. "There's only so much you can talk about to a 9 year old," he added, referring to his sister.
"Oh? Sounds very much like her," he laughed. "Talking with her mouth open as well. Does-- oh, who is Theo, if you don't mind me asking?" He blinked curiously at Minori. He didn't recall her ever mentioning such a person to him before. He supposed it was a friend, but... there wasn't any harm asking.
"Um... going out with a guy, of course," Takumi clarified, eyes automatically following Minori's. What was she looking at? He glanced around once more. "You said he wanted you to start dating..." But it was just to be an outing... wasn't it?

Minori grinned. "Then next time you should try traveling on your own. Especially when you try to strike up a conversation with the person to you, then realize she's sleeping." Which was what had happened on her trip there. The girl had been embarrassed and felt like hitting her head on the seat in front of her...but she realized that would probably earn her another cause for embarrassment.
"Uh...a friend." Mentally, she berated herself for letting names just slip out of her mouth like that. "More specifically, my friend's twin brother."
"Huh?" Her brown eyes looked curiously at him, cheeks reddening slightly. Then she laughed. "You want to date me? Trust me, you wouldn't. My dad's a horror. He'd probably drag you into a room and give you an inspection and interrogate you, like what police do to their suspects."

"Oh, did you really?" Takumi asked, laughing as he pictured the scene. "Did anyone else notice?" As he always sat next to his sister, he didn't really have any stories to tell. Well... there was that one time where the two of them had started sketching random things on a scrap paper. They had laughed so hard throughout the flight that Takumi was sure the other passengers were silently cursing them.
"I see," he said with a nod. Just a friend after all. "Is he one of your Australian friends too?"
"Well... why not?" He shrugged. "I personally wouldn't really mind. Or... it doesn't have to be a date if you don't want it to be. Just an outing." He thought for a moment. "Or... say I'm a girl," he added with a grin.
