One eyebrow rose at her comment; ahhh, so this Sugarberry had a family waiting for her? He should have guessed, for she was a lovely mare and one who would surely draw other towards her like flies to the flame. But he couldn't help asking... "A love or a child?"

His gaze remained on the sea as he awaited her response. His mind began to wander. He searched the rolling waves for the little grey head poking up from below, visiting the surface world for only a moment before returning to play beneath the waves. If he was to see such a sight, he would attempt to point it out to the mare next to him before the moment had passed.

The strawberries marked mare looked back at the stallion with a really lovely smile. "A child". Then she didn't know why, she didn't wanted Shishio to mistake. "I adopted him when i found his basket all alone, abandoned. I try to educate him by myself."

Suddenly she saw Shishio pointed at something. She turned her eyes as much as possible in the direction he showed. "A dolphin !" she started to act like a child. "It was a dolphin right ? hehe Shishio it was one hun ?"

Shishio couldn't help but feel slightly pleased that it had been a child, not a mate. But when she continued on to say that she had found the basket abandoned, a spark of fire burned in his heart: Who would leave a basket alone like that? The foal inside was vunerable, not yet ready to go about it's business on it's own. Where were the parents? Why had they not protected it? Why had they left it alone? ... And the parent's two-legger? Had he or she not thought to protect the poor thing, even if the parents did not want it?

Or had that basket been like him? Born from nothing, with no blood-roots to trace. No family. No one.

Well, that basket had found a lucky streak in that it was found by such a kind mare, who took it as her own and raised it. "That was very kind of you." Many, if put into that position, would not have cared (for it was not their basket) but not Shishio... and not Sugarberry.

A grin bloomed on his face as he heard the excitement in her voice. "Yes, I think it was!"

Sugar was suddenly like a child who found her christmas present under the tree. She looked everywhere to see if the dolphin appear again. She wanted to go to the sea to swim near the place he was to have a chance to see him closer but her reason tell her it was not a good idea.

She laughed at herself, blushing a little. "I need to calm down a little." The she thought about Teddy, how she found him, alone in his basket, lost in the grass. "It's normal. I couldn't have let this basket alone. My heart would have been hurt till the end. Teddy was so cute, i like him like my own child. But he grow up quickly, he will soon leave me." she smiled softly. She really had a mother feeling.

Shishio could not help but feel his own spirits rise with hers. Her enthusiasm was catching; although he had not at first been quite as excited about the dolphin as she had seemed to be, he now felt as though it was the most wonderful thing in the world to see the little grey head peeking out from beneath the waves.

He turned back to her and smiled slightly. "It is not every day that you can see a dolphin! I've gone many weeks without seeing one, in fact. A rarity!" Of course, sometimes those weeks he had gone without seeing dolphins he had been nowhere near a beach for, but she didn't really need to know that.

He nodded once, slowly. It was as he had expected; she did not have it in her to abandon a young one in need. "Even though we love the ones we watch grow into fine young mares or stallions, we must learn to accept that they must go off on their own... perhaps to form their own families and begin the cycle anew." Shishio's gaze, thoughtfull now, turned back to the water.

Sugar looked at Shishio and at the sea alternately, lost in her mind, but excited. "Oh truly, well i will need to come back here often if i want to have the chance to see one again." she smiled. "You are lucky Shishio. Then you come often here ?"

Listenning to what the stallion said she became curious. "You speak like you experienced it yourself ?"

"Hmm?" Shishio came back to his thoughts with a jolt, as often happened when posed a question in one of his 'far away' moods. "Oh, no. I have not." He grinned sheepishly, glancing at her briefly before continuing to stare out at the ocean. "I have not had the pleasure-pain mixture of raising a child as of yet; I was simply putting myself in the hooves of a mother or father, and thinking of how hard it would be to let someone go."

"Not especially. I wander, though this is one of the places that I eventually return to. This is not the only place where one can see the ocean." He let out a light laugh, as though to compensate for his earlier seriousness.

The mare smiled gently. She will not speak about it more. Now she would only know much about the ocean and the dolphin. She thought it may be too early to make him speaking of himself to her.
"There is other place ? Where ?" her childish side came back on her heart.
"I don't know really well the land, can you tell me where it is ? like this i will be able to go check every place."

"Of course." He closed his eyes, producing a mental image of the land he had traveled to. He opened them again and began describing to her the land which they inhabited. "The beach extends all along the western part of the Soquili lands. We are at the Southernmost part. If you only continue walking along the beach, occasionally skirting into the forest or plains to pass portions that are cut off, you shall find miles upon miles of land just like this." He grinned. "And all along, you can find dolphins."

Sugar felt a little stupid because she didn't thought about the extention of the beach. But she memorized all what he said. "Thank you Shishio. I really hope i will be able to see one."

Then she looked arround searching for something. She saw it a little far from them, shining in the sand. She went and picked it. It was a pink shell. She put it in Shishio mane. "A little gift to thank you." she laughed.

"It was my pleasure." He nodded in return to her thanks. It really was no trouble at all; all he had to do was browse through the expansive warehouse that was his mind to find the information on beaches, and that had gone by quite quickly. He watched as she she stared at the ground, searching. He was about to offer to help her search for whatever it was she wanted when she walked forwards and picked up the shell. He traced her path as she placed it in his mane.

He was stunned for a second, unsure of what to do. It was the first gift he had recieved that was solid, and not something that had only mental value such as information or a kind word. "Thank you." His voice was a mixture of puzzle and gratitude; in his mind, something so simple as providing information did not deserve such a gift.

He scolded himself silently; it was just a shell. He had best not read into it.

Sugar smiled, looking at the sea. Her heart still hope to see the wonderful gray animal jumping from the waves. "I'm happy i meet you Shishio, you bring me luck" she laughed happy. "I was almost able to see a dolphin, i would not if you were not at my side."

The sun was warm and it started to be hot. She put her legs in the water to refresh it. "Come Shishio, the water is really good."

The image formed in his mind before he could even consider the possibility of stopping it: himself (though shrunken and fluffy) in the form of a rabbit's foot, hung on a leather string about Sugarberry's neck. This mental image brought laughter bubbling to his lips and replenished the spark in his eyes. He knew that it seemed most ridiculous, but he could not help the images that formed when the mare spoke.

"I am happy to meet you as well."

He did as commanded (though how could a reply, when posed as a gentle suggestion, be considered a command?) then. He wadded up to his knees, letting the feel of the cool and fresh ocean take away some of the heat of the beating sun. He knelt, dipping his entire body in, before standing quickly to avoid being hit by a coming wave.

Shishio flicked his tail once, sending a light spray of water droplets over himself. "Mmm... salty."

Sugar played in the water with her long, red braided tail. The water was so fresh, she felt good. She looked at Shishio coming next to her. She smiled amused. They looked like two child. She tries to drink some water "You right it's really salty." She made a face because it was not really good.

He grinned, raising one eyebrow. "We're supposed to like salt; the two-leggers give us those salt lick things... though I've never really enjoyed them myself." Shishio's gaze traveled down again, and he watched as a wave distorted the image of his hooves beneath the water. After a few seconds, he peered up at her curiously. "Do you have a two-legger who seems to think you are theirs?"
