Quote: Sweeeeetttt! After spending last week and all of last night cleaning up the pigsty that is my home now turned frathouse, I got my bloom! Usually I'm not that girly..if you ignore the dress.. and the bra. What?! I was curious! Anyway, I had everyone help me clean. Hopfully the neighbore will think that slowly growing pile of stuff on his side of the lawn is just uhm.. a trick of the light. Yeah! Where was I..? Oh yes! It was here! At last! My bloom I had been waiting for! I must have kept Penn awake countless nights going on and on about my bloom and how I was so excited and couldn't wait to see it. He said that if I loved it so much, why didn't I marry it. Silly Concept. I told him to go play pretty boy with Kuunanu and Babuhama so I could get my bloom. Well, I didn't have to go too far as I was about to go out the door I got a box set in my hands by a delivery guy. I must have looked like a little kid bouncing and 'gimme hand'ing at him as he fiddled for his clip board. Maybe it was that and not the fact that I was in my undies. ... So I get the box inside and carefully unwrap it and take it from the packaging and do what comes to instinct. I stuck my finger in one of it's little yellow bulbs. To my surprise, the little flower was warm to the touch. I figured it must have been because of travel. I hoped that didn't damage the little thing. I'd hate to finally get it and have it dry out on me. Penn, suggested that my finger in it's bulb might hurt it too so I took my finger out. In all honesty, I had no idea what to do with the little thing, but I knew that I wanted to be sure it knew it was safe and loved. Wanting to get my bloom comfortable, I set it in the bansai tree that Seab gave to me atop my stereo system and put on some Prozzäk. "This is one of my favorite bands," I informed it making sure it wouldn't vibrate off the speaker. "Their music is nice and upbeat and I think you'll like it." I hadn't looked down long enough before I looked up to see Icce perched on the pot rim of the bonsai tree examining the flower. He had this confused look on his face so explained to him what I knew about blooms. This seemed to placate him enough for him to snuggle the branch of the bloom to his chest and flutter off with it. I didn't want to scare him but I wondered where he was taking my bloom so I just followed. Apparently he just wanted to show the bloom around the house. It was cute watching him take the bloom around to each room and chatter in his little kun-speak to which he promptly brought it back. Oni looked up from his writing to look up at the bloom still sitting in the bonsai tree pot and smiled. Icce was still chattering to it. Probably because there weren't alot of creatures his size in the house anymore. Oni couldn't help but smile at this and set his book down getting up to lean on the speaker, folding his arms to rest his chin on, "You guys having fun?" He asked reaching to turn the volume down with his tail.
Icce smiled and gave Oni his patented thumb's up patting the bloom gently. "Well, it's bed time lil guy." He said scooping both up and heading for his room. His room was fairly decent sized with enough room for his and Penn's beds along with some smaller habitats for the smaller pets. He left his window open to let the warm breeze filter in and curled up in his hammock, resting the bloom in the warm pocket by his side. He knew it would be safe there as Oni wasn't prone to rolling about in his hammock at night. It took him a while to actually get to sleep, still happy and excited that his bloom had arrived. He nodded off as he was looking at it. His kun-kun nesting in his hair.

Oni would have loved to think that it was the sweet song of birds that had roused him gently from sleep instead of the usual noise of his other housemates. With a toothy yawn and a creaky stretch of his spaded tail, he checking on the little bloom still tucked safely by his side. It didn’t look like anything had happened to it so he gave a sigh of relief and picked it up as he righted himself in the hammock. Dangling his feet over the edge, he gazed into the cup like bulbs lined up along the thin little branch. “I wonder what kind of flower you are. Can’t say I’ve seen anything like you.” He turned the bloom over in his hands, inspecting it carefully. Once or twice he brought it up to sniff at it curiously.
He smiled as he looked up from the flower and over at his clock to check the time. "Oh boy, nine at night, just in time for breakfast." He climbed from his hammock and tucked the bloom in his hair behind his horn as he got up and headed toward the bathroom to shower. He dismissed the fact that it was still warm from the fact that it was against his side all night. Going through the motions of getting ready for the day, he continued to explain things to the bloom in his hair. Kami had told him at one point that plants loved being talked to and it made them grow up healthy. Of course, this wasn’t a regular plant but what could it hurt?
Walking down the hall and past the living room he found out the source of all the noise. Bemani and Oriel playing on the two dance pads to DDR Max as the rest of his crew watched. They were always doing this. Someone would start an argument and then there would be a dance-off. He grinned and waited for the pair to finish their song before asking for a turn. As usual, the pair had forgotten their problem and were too hyped up on playing to remember who won or not. Ahh, gotta love conflict resolution through blinky floaty arrows. He took the bloom from his hair and set it down on the tv so it could ‘listen’ to the music. Penn poked at the bloom scooping it up off the tv. “Another future member of our little legion of doom?” he asked giving the bloom a bit of a shake, not too hard just enough to watch the flowers sway in the motion. “Yeah! I’m trying to expose it to how this place is so it doesn’t come out afraid.” Oni answered, cursing to himself as he misses a step. “Careful you don’t make the poor thing deaf.” Penn sighed setting the bloom elsewhere so it was safer from the music. Oni raised a brow, “Hey, you’re right, thanks Penn.” He chuckled a bit finishing his song.
"Today, we're going to find out what you like little one." He said, already used to talking to the bloom. He took a moment to waggle his eyebrows at himself in the mirror. The bloom in his hair actually quite fetching amidst his red hair. He set it on the bathroom sink sitting on the rim of the tub. "You look like you're a tropical plant, maybe you will like steam." He said, more aloud than to himself or the bloom turning on the faucet in the tub, letting the water get hot. He hopped into the shower and got himself clean. He peeked out every now and then to check on the bloom. It wasn’t wilting in the muggy air, in fact it seem to be almost enjoying it.
Once clean and refreshed, Oni took his floral friend to the kitchen for some grub. He was really hyped up to show his bloom to Karma so he decided on a bowl of cereal. Adding just enough sugar to make the milk a thick as syrup, he prepared to pour his cereal in, then looked at his bloom. Getting an idea, he dipped the end of the bloom in the mixture and let it sit a moment. “Breakfast is an important part of my day, bloom. You.. Don’t eat so we’ll just take you.. Outta there we go..” He muttered taking the bloom from the bowl after realizing that it wasn’t a good idea after all. He ate his cereal and left to find Karma.

Quote: I took my bloom to show to karma and ended up showing the bloom to Youko, Tal, Yeande, Shalafi and Tahki as well. It was nice to visit with them all as I really wanted to see Yeande again. Tal looked like he was doing much better from our last encounter so that was good. Yeande had changed.. a lot. Though, no matter how different she looked it was good to see her in a better mood. I felt really bad that shalafi got burned slightly by my bloom when he went to ‘see’ it. He was okay though. We also got to meet Karmas second bloom which decided to leak merrily all over the counter top. It was a pretty flower despite the bleeding thing, honestly. I can’t wait to see what it will look like. Having said our hellos and what not, I took the bloom home for more study. Continuing with my experiments on the bloom I decided to be a bit more serious about trying to figure out what my new friend likes and dislikes. Since they don’t eat, all of my food tests are useless. I’ve been in the habit of playing music around the bloom as much I can. From what I knew of plants, this bloom looked to be cut from a bigger plant so I wasn’t too sure how well it would do in the dirt, but I did try to put it in water. I let the little bloom sit in the lukewarm water as I listened to more calming music. I made sure to check on the bloom every now and then, finishing up my chores. “Having fun, bloom? Time for you to get out of the pool.” I said, figuring now it was time to see what sunlight would do to the boom. I left my portable radio on the sill with the bloom and went about taking care of Maki and Seeno.

Quote: I had left the bloom in the bonsai tree when I came back. It shouldn’t be too much longer before we officially have the new member to the family. I think I’m done poking at the poor thing. I hadn’t let it fully settle since it had gotten here. I made a stop off at the electronics’ store for a special gift in preparation. I can’t wait, I really hope my feien likes it. It’s for Icce too actually. He was so taken with the bloom. It’s good to see someone just as happy as I to have it here. I love my little makeshift family. They really keep me together and I hope I never remember why I’m really back. Doesn’t seem like my tests are going either way, that suits me fine. The bloom is still as bright and hearty as the day I got it. Strangely enough, it’s also just as warm too. I never noticed it before but now that I was holding onto it less it was more apparent now. I wonder if it was natural for that sort of flower to just retain heat so well. I had started smoking again. I didn’t even notice until Kunnanu pointed it out to me. Apparently I had been sitting at the table and ashing all over the table cloth. Which reminds me I have to throw that in the wash later. I was obviously thinking, but about what I could not be sure. The writing stops there and continues later though a bit more scribbled and normal for Oni. Quote: I’m not sure why but I zonked out earlier. Huh, I looked back at what I wrote before. Man what a spaz I am. Oh yah.. Table cloth in the wash. Okay, now that I’ve done that. I wonder why I was so serious before. Hm. I had this really bitchin’ piece of cheesecake today. I wish I coulda shared it with my bloom but they have no mouths and that would be retarded of me, heh.. My head doesn’t feel all that great so I think I’m gonna call it a night.

((meant to get this up Yesterday)) Quote: I slapped on some One Piece to keep me and my bloom occupied. I read the subtitles out loud for it since it couldn't see. well.. I don't think it can anyway. I continue to take the bloom to bed with me every night so if it emerges when it I'm sleep it's not alone or scared. I've thought about constructing a little area for my bloom when it emerges but I really don't know where to start. I figure some jade plants and some aloes would be good. Make a little greenhouse for her and some of my other house guests here. I think they'd like it. Not to mention it'd give us all something to do together. I'll send Kunnanu out to get the measurements of the yard tomorrow so me, Penn and Babu can go and get the supplies. We spent most of the morning clearing out the backyard and getting all of the junk thrown out or sold off. We couldn't decide on keeping or tossing the two-toned Desoto so we just moved it to the center of the yard and decorated around it. Octavious helped to dig out a path from the back of the green house to the front His claws laying down the stones as We all hustled and worked moving in plants and pushing dirt about. Karma even stopped by to help us out. She said a break from home would be nice since Tal would be coming home a dad. I'll have to congratulate him later on that! It wasn't until nightfall that the crew had gotten everything set up from the little pond to the light fixtures when the work was finally over. They stood just inside the door whispering quietly to each other eager to see the final project as if waiting to see the Christmas lights that were put up. Oni had returned to the house to get the bloom, gently pushing his way through the small crowd to take the bloom the little special spot he set up specifically.“ Can we turn the lights on Now?!~” Came Kami’s insistent mewl as she tugged on his tail. Maki not too far behind her hopping up and down. “Yes! We want to see it!!”
Consoling them both with a pat on the head each, Oni ran all the way to the wall switch snickering, “Okay okay. Ready? One.. Two.. Three!” The lights of the Desoto flipped on and the fountain sputtered to life which brought forth a cheer from the crowd. They’re hard word was a success. It had been a slightly expensive venture but the result was well worth it. Oni couldn’t help grinning from ear to ear. “Heheh wouldn’t this be cool if like you know in those games where you do something like this and it summons the creature and there’s music going Baaaaaaah Naahh baah baaaaaahhhhhh~~” He sang wriggling his hand s about comically. Penn was the first to notice just over his shoulder the movement in the little yellow bloom behind him and went slack jawed. A tiny head peeked out, over the rim of a bud. Thick red dreads spilling about her tiny face as she sat up looking about in awe. She blinked toward the voice she recognized most and Leaned half way out of the bloom.
“Uh.. Oni..!” Penn stammered pointing a finger toward the bloom..
“Yeah I know, Penn. It’s impossible but wouldn’t it be cool? With the sparklies and the big blue text that’s all like “Yoooou have summoned the great goddess~! She will now grant you whishes~~”
The tiny fairy perked up at that, following Oni’s cue. Climbing the rest of the way out of the bloom, she posed graceful and dramatically. Her tiny hands clasped tightly against her chest as she looked upon the stunned group like a famed deity The world’s hope depended on her! Yes, her! At last she was free from the clutches of evil thanks to the great hero!
“Oni..!” The Concept’s arm jerking that much harder to point behind him. However, Oni was off in his own little world.
“No you’re right that’s too dramatic, “He said rubbing at his chin.” Oh! Or maybe it’s like the coming of a great ruler. Oooh we are so destitute to be in their prescience.
Her manner changed as she primped her dreads up and took on the haughty posture of royalty, strutting one way and then the other along the rock her bloom sat upon. Flicking her wrist and waving the imaginary jeweled scepter in her dainty hand . She broke the act, giggling silently into her hand to nod vigorously to him, fluttering jestingly above the rock before making her way over to try and rest on his shoulder, Still new to the world, she buzzed about like dizzy little fly as she never gave her wings proper time to dry fully. A zig that should have been a zag sent her lurching forward into a tumble just missing her mark and grabbing onto his earring clinging to it for dear life. The pressure on his ear sent Oni into a girlie flail, “OH GOD WHAT IS IT?! AAHAHAHAH I’m to young to diiiie!!” Penn just sighed and shook his head, rubbing at his temples <“I came from that..?”
Whimpering , Oni reached up to gingerly grab at the intrusion on his earring and was met with pair of tiny clinging arms and legs about his finger. Confused at that, He looked at his hand, having to turn it over to get a look at the fairy. She smiled sheepishly up at him waving a few fingers as children are apt to do. “Oh my god! Look at yoou!” He cooed softly, bringing his hand up to eye level “You are so precious! Where did you come from, eh? Are you lost little one?” The feien shook her small head, and stood up on his knuckles pantomiming a growing plant, Someone showing care and love and then a final ‘Ta-Da!’ which resulted in her outstretching both arms, puffing her chest out proudly. Oni chuckled at this display Not fully understanding but getting the gist of it anyway. Resisting the urge to try and hug the small fairy, he let out a joyous cheer instead, “Happy Birthday!”

Later On Not being good with sign language , we formed a crude version for her to use something like p ictionary and charades. Letting my new guest get aquainted with everyone and comfortable in her new room. We set about thinking up a name for her. I figured it would be a good idea to let her decide on a name herself. At some point of the day, Riley and Nyu were watching Cats and the fairy decided that she wanted two names. For you see, she wasn’t a cat, and three was too many, so two names would be good. They couldn’t be regular ordinary names. She wasn’t pushy by any means, but as far as her name was concerned she wanted a good fitting name. I sat on the hood of the Desoto with a notepad in hand rapping lightly against the top with my pen. Staring at the scratched out list of names we tried before. She was busy fluttering about the greenhouse, rapt in thought as she rubbed at her chin with her thumb and fore finger. At this point I was just watching her, most of my ideas exhausted. She suddenly perked up and buzzed back to me excitedly signing that she had figured out a name. I had to gently cup her in my hands, that was my signal that she was getting too worked up. When she had settled down a bit, I opened my hands again and she buzzed back into the air, tracing the oblong mark on her arm and a peeling motion. “Yellow..!” This got me a head shake. “Oval..!” That got me a blank stare and a head shake. “ Slice, Cut.. Oh! Banana!” At the near last blunder, she hung limply in the air over dramatically, but perked up and grabbed my face in her tiny but surprisingly strong hands making me nod. She fluttered back again, then began to dance of sorts. Which lead to even more wrong guesses. “Salsa!! Polka! Waltz!…Foxtrot..? ..Tango?” This got me another nodding of my head. So there we had it. She was now Banana Tango. Penn has settled with calling her BT and I thnk it’s a nivkname that’s going to stick.

Getting used to having another member to the family didn't take long to get used to. The larger pets and people knew to watch their steps from now on and it was almost second nature to leave the kitchen window open just enough so she could get back and forth from the house at her leisure in the morning. For the first few nights Banana slept on Oni’s pillow until she was okay with sleeping on her own in the greenhouse. The next week was spent getting to know the house and the others that lived there. She discovered that the house was full of entrants and exits if you knew just where and what to look for. Oni had a thing from traveling via the extensive ventilation shafts in the meager home not to mention hanging from the support beams in the ceilings.
Oni’s room itself was full of different things. He had amassed a collection of copper colored items all sorted neatly on a shelf . On the shelf below that were books of all kinds. Some of.. Questionable nature, but thicker more wholesome books as well. One in particular she rather enjoyed to look through was one on tattoos. Seeing as Oni had none of his own she didn’t fully understand why he had the book, she figured that like she, he just liked the pictures.
There was a room within his hidden by a door that he kept locked. The reason for the lock in fact was basic shop keeping security habit. It wasn’t that she was never allowed inside, she knew what was in it he made sure to tell her exactly what. It was where he made these things called Notions. It was a quaint little hovel that housed a glass and wire littered desk. Wire crafting tools and books on the mind and body scattered here and there. It was well lit amazingly from the overhead ceiling light swaying lazily from it’s cable. He showed her how he put together a bulb for capturing thoughts with and how they worked exactly. Banana, being the curious thing that she was, figured if these were the embodiment of her innermost thoughts then maybe she had one too. had touched one of the unlit bulb lighting it up instantly. The heat it gave off didn’t bother her at all and seeing this was so, Oni was content to let her play with it while he worked.
Just about all of the female occupants of the household loved the little feien and had accepted her as part of the family immediately. Kami and Maki regarded her their best little sister and took turns playing with her hair and letting her play in their doll clothing. She didn’t mind that they seemed to almost treat her like another one of their dolls in their games of make believe. She enjoyed having someone to play with. The first time that Peggity laid eyes on her, the little hedgehog fretted over her mother-like, describing her as ‘skinny as a beanpole’ and set about putting meat on her bones with some good ole home cooking. The little travel tail had even made her a quilt from bits of fabric the pair had gathered from some left over scraps in Oni’s room. Oriel saw her as just another one of her many charges to look after and make sure she was lady like and minded her P’s and Q’s.
On the other hand, the male population of the household was another matter. Pennanik was amused by the fact that such a being came from the bloom they had been caring for. Riley didn’t seem all too impressed, but then, unless it was made of fudge he was never impressed. The only interest he showed was a mild lick to test and see if she was indeed made of fudge, which she wasn’t, and he returned to his regularly scheduled siesta. Icce was beside himself with joy that he had a little sister, literally, and showered her with a hodge-podge of odd little kun-kun gifts from bottle caps and buttons to leaves and feathers. A smaller stereo that came with a remote control was purchased later that day and set out in the greenhouse for Banana to listen to as she pleased with the agreement that she didn’t play it too loudly late at night.
One evening when the sun had just set for the evening , Banana fluttered lazily like a moth back toward the house. It had been a long day and though the hot muggy air in the greenhouse didn’t bother her at all, she was worn out. During the day, the small fairy had developed a project for herself. She had constructed herself a little house using a glass birdfeeder that She had …found in the neighbor’s yard along with a long discussion from Oriel why we should not steal. Banana couldn’t understand how it was stealing if the neighbor left it sitting out in his yard for the birds to peck at and destroy. She’d treat it much better surely, and the birds didn’t seem to mind their food being on the ground. Not that something that dines on bugs could be picky about that sort of thing anyway. Either way, it was too late to return it now that she had secured it firmly under the lee of a stone next to the pond and jury rigged a make shift little dock to it out of Popsicle sticks, graciously provided by Kami and Maki of course. She made a mental note to ask Oni for paints to decorate it with later, but for now, she wanted more of those yummy things.. What were they called? Oh yah, grapes. She had grown fond of them over time since her and Oni’s visit to Karma’s place.
Wriggling herself in through the open window, Banana lighted softly on the table next to the bowl of fruit sitting down cross legged to wait. The house was quiet for it being so early, Yes, 11 pm was early in this house hold, she regarded this with vague curiosity nibbling at a grape. In fact, it was the most quiet this house had ever been since she emerged. The young fairy had grown accustomed to hearing music at all hours of the day and throughout the night. If the others weren’t talking they were engrossed in their game of ‘Put up or Shut Up’ that involved a game called DDR and dance pads. For the most part, from what Oni told her. If you had trouble with anyone, you were to settle it that way.
Her thoughts wandered to her two new friends and just how lovely they were in comparison to her. She absently reached a hand over her shoulder to trace along the edge of her gossamer wing with a sigh. If only there was some way for her to be just as lovely, she felt her brow furrow and her eyes well up with tears and she shook her head. Enough of this, There was no time for feeling sorry for herself.
Rubbing at the corners of her eyes with tiny fists. She rose to her feet quickly, her wings abuzz as she fluttered off the table. Where was Oni?? It was the first time in weeks that he’d been away from home. She didn’t like it at all. She wanted to be with him and to talk to him. Talk. The very fact that she couldn’t vocalize her feelings made her feel that much worse. Her small bout of self loathing was cut short by the sounds of two people stumbling into the front door along with muffled voices.
One she recognized right away was Oni’s. He sounded tired, exhausted even and the second voice with followed by the hollow thump of a body hitting the foyer wall.
“Hey hey, easy, man.. You’re going to hurt yourself even worse you keep that up..” The tone could either be male or female, Banana couldn’t tell, not wanting to be in the way, she landed on the floor and peeked around the corner. It was Kuunanu, or rather Maverick guiding, half dragging Oni into the house. The very sight of him sent a chill up the poor feien’s back, her threatening to escape at any moment pounding in her chest.
His hair was a mess, tangled about his horn which sported three new visible cracks in it. and his lip was bleeding as well as from his wrists and forearms. Sweat matting down his bangs melding with the blood making the air about him thick with the tangy metallic smell. Most of his weight was being supported by the rather annoyed looking Doushikai as he tried to keep them both from topping to the floor. The demon had his head lolled back, muttering incoherently to his savior. Penn stepping in shortly after, wiping off his hands in the excess of his loincloth. He looked just about as worse but a little better of the two. Neither one seemed overly concerned for the condition of their friend and Banana couldn’t understand why.
“That was too close this time, Penn. It starts getting worse every week I swear.” Kunnanu grunted angling Oni onto his back. The second personality’s voice wavering from exhaustion and despair.
“Either way, let’s get him up to bed and get some rest ourselves.. We can clean up after some sleep.” Penn replied in a harsh whisper. Hoisting Oni’s legs up about waist high as Kunnanu carried his shoulders, they took him back to the room without another word. The young Man hanging limp between them having nodded off into what she hoped was heavy slumber.
Too close? What was too close? Why was he hurt?? Worried and confused, the young feien fluttered after them but by the time she got there, They had already gotten Oni into his hammock and retired to their own rooms. Landing on his pillow she paced along the fabric. She wanted to help, but she didn‘t know how.
Grabbing onto the sheet or as much of it as she could, she went about cleaning the wounds on his arms. She only succeeded in making the corner of the sheet a bloody mess not to mention her own hands which she stared at curiously for a moment or two. In theory she knew what blood was and what it was for, but never having contact with it, she found it to be quite fascinating. She brought her hands up to her face, not bothered by the thick coppery smell of the fluid. However, sticking her finger into her mouth proved to be a big mistake as the bitter taste caused her to throw a face and scrub her hands on the fabric. She wiped off her mouth on the back of her wrist, glaring at the blood in distain. With this, she only redoubled her efforts to clean him off, using her spit here and there where she could.
A twitch of his arm caught her off guard rooting her to the spot as she stared up at him like a deer in the headlights. Staring blankly down at her with half dead eyes, a crooked grin spread across Oni‘s face. “…hnmm.. butterfly..” The whisper sounded so disembodied and foreign, it made her shiver. He said something else, but she couldn’t understand a word of it. And tilted her head in confusion. She didn’t see his hand in time and if she had she may of panicked and hurt herself more than his tight grip on her did. Bringing her up about face level, Oni smirked petting at her with his thumb speaking more of this strange dialect. Any squirming on her part only brought about him tightening his grip on her, so she remained as still as she could. This was hard as she felt her wings start to cramp not to mention it was hard to breathe.
Banana just stared up into his cold empty eyes and waited. An uneasy feeling worming about in her gut brought back her attention to the nasty taste of his blood in her mouth. He surely wouldn’t hurt her would he? No of course not, he was her bonded after all. She felt as if she may be ill but didn’t dare, unfortunately, her stomach had other plans. The young feien felt her eyes roll up in her head as her stomach lurched and she threw up all over his hand. This seemed to barely phase him, if it did at all. A few uncomfortable moments past before he let her go gently on the pillow, still caging his hand over her. At this point her head was spinning. Trying to peek between his fingers, she could just barely hear the familiar sound of his snoring. With a sigh of relief, she laid her head down on the pillow, happy to have things somewhat back to normal again. She had to admit it was nice to have him back. She had even gotten used to the spell of blood all around her.
Banana woke up the next morning still curled up on the pillow. The sun glaring in through the blinds making her roll and curl up into a tighter little ball. Wait, the sun?? Shielding her eyes with a hand, she groggily sat up and looked about. She was left by herself on the little pillow with a face towel draped over her like a blanket. The hammock was clean and the sheet draped over it had no trace of blood at all. Had she dreamt the entire thing? Maybe the grape she ate was bad. That would explain the nasty taste in her mouth then.
Thankfully, she got a good look at her hands before reaching up to rub away the sleep in her eyes. With a disgusted sigh, she rose to her feet and headed toward the bathroom. Getting a good flying start, she dropped down on the stopper in the sink, the solid hit sinking it in one go. Pleased with herself, she grinned down triumphantly at the stopper, dusting off her hands and fluttered up to the water dials. She had watched the others fiddle with the spigot above the wash basin struggled to push the dial marked with a red ’H’. It took a moment or two but the handle finally gave with a groan of protest.
As she waited for the water to warm itself, she fluttered up to the medicine cabinet to see just what state of disarray she was in. To her, it looked as if she had attacked some poor creature like some wild beast, dark brown stains criss-crossing over her tiny body. The look of her wings in particular got a raised brow from the feien. The blood had seeped into the veining of her gossamer wings and spread out like webbing leaving almost floral patterns in them. The bigger smudges actually gave them a nice effect. She smiled to herself , heh.. Butterfly. Taking a moment longer to study the markings she remembered the running water and fluttered back down to turn it off again and start her bath.

It had been a day or so since the incident the night Mavarick and Pennanik brought Oni home in such bad shape. She didn’t want to dwell on it since Oni hadn’t mentioned it at all, that worried her most of all about the whole situation. Along with not knowing the proper way to ask, she didn’t want to pry. To her, it seemed as if he was happy with ignoring it all together. If he was content with pretending it didn’t exist, then she wouldn’t worry with it. She had more important things to do anyway, or at least she did as far as Peggity was concerned. All these fun and games were good but there had to be some structured learning here and there. Peggity had taken it upon herself to teach all of the younger creatures of the house how to read and write. Though Banana knew how to read and write already, improving her slightly shabby handwriting couldn’t hurt. The travel tail had gathered her along with Maki, Kami, Nagaina and Nhu into the den where she had set up some flash cards with colorful cartoons on them with words underneath them such as ‘Cat’ ‘Dog’ “Boat’ ‘Tree’ and so on. Adjusting her bifocals on her tiny pointed muzzle, the hedgehog held up each card and read the words with them aloud for her students. They scribbled the words down on the paper with crayons, and pencils and whatever that wrote repeating the words as they learned to write. When her practice with writing was over, Peggity would spend another hour or so teaching her official sign language. The feien had already began to incorporate this into her repertoire. The hedgehog sat her down on a spool of thread and took her hands gently. “You should have a way to translate your more intimate thoughts, my dear. You could write a note but those could easily be lost or left in the hands of the wrong person. Pantamiming isn’t always the best way to get your point across either. Do you have any idea what you are to do?” She asked in that mothering tone of hers. [ No idea..Maybe.. I could.. I don’t know.. Write it and keep it for later? Banana signed weakly, her ‘accent’ still a little thick. Pegity sighed and shook her head. “Sometimes dear, you won’t have paper on hand, or the time.” She pondered a moment, “Oh! Here, when you have something important to tell someone, you can write on their hand with your fingers.” She explained drawing words on the feien’s hands letters at a time on her palm. “It’s like writing a note, but this way, you can keep your messages between you and whoever you ‘speak’ with.” Banana grinned widely, this was perfect! She was so excited she could barely keep her hands from flying willy nilly about as she signed a thankyou to Peggity. Encircling her neck gently with her tiny arms, she hugged her tightly and fluttered off to show Oni.. She floated down the darker hallway stopping halfway. Something wasn’t right at all. Taking refuge in the nook of a wall sconce gargoyle’s lap, she curled herself into a ball and sighed. He wasn’t in his room. She’d be able to hear his snoring by now as the demon wouldn’t be awake just yet. It was then that she realized that she had been seeing less and less of her bondmate. He would visit her daily, bringing her small bits of fruit cut up so she could handle it easier and they would sit and talk for a while. More like he would talk and she would nod and shake her head with a few gestures here and there. He would take her with him as he attended business, but as the days turned to weeks, he stopped visiting just as often. ~I assure you, that you have nothing to worry about.. He will return to you as he returned to us all eventually.~ Blinking away some stray tears that had welled up in her eyes, Banana leaned over the gargoyle’s lap to look down at Nhu. It was sitting below her directly grooming itself contently. Dainty paws washing the short muzzled face. Wise eyes gazing up into confused violet ones, ~You are too young to know of the tremers. He gets them every so often. Be glad he is courteous and hides from you.~Banana’s brow furrowed and she buzzed down before the ofanbuuru’s face. [ What do you mean by that?? ] The creature scrunched it’s nose raising up on it’s paws to glare down at her haughtily, ~Oh please, don’t insult me with such a show.. I can hear you just fine.~ The feien was taken aback by this, it was just then she realized that the ofanbuuru wasn’t speaking to her vocally but mentally. She gulped and thought the words, unsure of how this worked. ~H-Hello..? Oh wow! This is so--~~Yes yes. Now, do you wish to know or have you moved onto better things?~ The offanbuuru replied with a shake of her head. ~I’m sorry.. Nhu was it? Yes, I’m sorry. Please continue!~The creature turned her back on the feien and started to walk toward the room. Had Nhu not turned to give her an indignant stare, she wouldn’t have understood the unspoken command to follow. They crept into the room quietly, making their way onto Oni’s desk where his journal lay. ~Read this. It will tell you of the tremors. As for me.. I have some flowers to sniff.~ Nhu hopped down after tipping over the cover of the book with it’s muzzle for her. She hopped up on the book studying the first page. The cover page was speckled with stickers and glitter of all sorts akin to that of a young child. She couldn’t help but grin at this. How carefree her bondmate was, surely whatever these tremors were couldn’t be as bad as Nhu made them sound. Banana continued to smile as she began to read Oni’s hand writing on the other page. Her eyes scanned the page, snickering at how he jumped from idea to idea so easily. The further she read, however, the smile crept slowly from her face, replaced with a more focused look. Quote: This being my first journal, I am not sure how to really begin this thing. Kami gave it to me. It's very pretty. She knows that I like shiny things so it, of course has a metallic sheen on the edges of the page. In my favorite color too. Copper. I guess I should begin at the beginning. Always a good place to start. I was shown old photographs of what the village I was said to have come from looked like. Quaint little place. A shame I didn't get a chance to experience it. From what I remember Kami telling me was she knew my mother at one point and said she was nice. She was so happy to soon have a son or daughter someday. My father she didn't know. My mother, from what I was told, was one of the tattooists making decent money and strive for her art. Having taken it up from her father, surprisingly. She practiced Tebori, hand done tattooing, for the firemen, geisha and some upper class folk. Apparently she did well, being a woman in a dying art. This makes me proud of her in a way and explains why I like to draw from time to time. This was how she met Kami apparently. She made a polite inquiry about the brand on Kami's thigh and the two hit it off and were friends for years to come. I don't mind that I was conceived though a one night fling with a guy that had been wooing my mother for a few years. I have a problem with the guy vanishing leaving my mother to care for me alone. Kami has assured me that this guy didn't get off completely scott free. The was something in the way she said it that makes me afraid of Kami more and more... Either way, back to my story, My mother had to give up her life's work living off her savings as nooned would touch her. All of her clients went to other 'more reliable' businesses. In fact, she was treated fairly poorly for getting pregnant out of wedlock. I did a bit of research on my own time to find out more about Japanese culture. In a way, it makes me sad that I am here today.. A local group of thugs that had been a problem before hand took it upon themselves to deal with my mother. She was murdered in cold blood at her home, me, I died before I was even born. This is how I found out that I was in fact an Oni. I found this small clip in a book I snagged from the library: Oni are devil-like demons with long nails, wild hair, a fierce look and two horns on their forehead like the devil images known in Western Christian cultures. They wear tiger skins and can fly. Oni hunt for the souls of those who did evil things in their lives. In a nutshell, a guy one would not like to encounter in the darkness! The Oni character is a deep-rooted aspect of Japanese culture. Japanese children grow up with tales of Oni. In medieval times, people living on distant islands were considered as oni. And during the time of the Japanese seclusion from the rest of the world and during war times, foreigners were looked at as Oni. I think I may be defective as I didn't remember to hunt down the murderers..Kami says she found me in the house along side my mother's body the week after. I was still a baby but a baby with only one horn and a tail. I think my age disallowed me from actually knowing what had been done. Unfortunate as I would have LOVED to destroy those bastards. Kami took me with her after burying my mother near the temple she would like to go from time to time under the cover of nightfall. She figured it was for the best as she didn't want the towns folk to kill me as well..little did she know.. She's been raising me here for a while now. I've learned quite a bit now so I guess she could be considered my mother. Not a bad start I think I will leave it at that.. ~Oniaja Taking a moment to digest this information, she felt her knees starting to give way from under her. Sinking down on the page, she read and reread over the middle passage over and over again. Dead.. How could this be? Why would people do such a terrible thing? She scrubbed at her face trying to wipe the horrible concept from her mind as she scrambled off of the page onto the desk. She didn’t make it too far feeling the gouge rise in her throat. Choking on a dry heave or two, she shakily rose to her feet looking about the room in panic. She couldn’t get out of there fast enough. The very air seeming to clutch at her like dirty tendrils making it hard to breathe, she clawed through the air, zipping across the room and out the door back to her green house to hide. Locking herself away in her birdhouse, she curled up on her make shift bed, shaking like a leaf. Her sobs hanging silently in the air as she huddled up in the blankets. She stayed there until it was dark, just sobbing quietly to herself, far too afraid to go to sleep now. Why hadn’t he told her this? She didn’t get a lot of time to think on this as she heard the screen door squeak open. She recognized the silhouette through the thin fabric screen on her house and she stayed silent. Her heart drumming in her chest a million miles an hour. It was him. Oni sighed setting down a box of tools and called out to her “Hey dearest? You in here?” He waited a moment and when she hadn’t budged he gave a shrug and set about digging a hole. Heart broken and wanting to contact him, she tried to will herself to move. Unfortunately, she was rooted to the spot, hugging her knees tighter to her chest. She laid her face down on her knees, sighing deeply. “Aw honey, I should have told you sooner, I just didn’t want you to worry..” Oni whispered, jabbing the shovel deeper into the soft earth digging out a hole from where the fountain started to just in front of her house. “You know I would never hurt you, or anyone here.. at least I would try not to anyway. I know you saw my journal, you shouldn’t have had to find out that way.” He sniffled a bit pausing in the middle of his speech. She looked up, sympathetically shaking her head despite the fact that he couldn’t see it. Grinding her fist into her eye, drying them on her wrists. “Someday.. Someday I will find those guys that did this, and they will pay. You’ll see.” He continued on, she stood up nodding. [ I’ll help-- ] She mentally cursed herself for the faux pas, ~I’ll help you!~ she tried to use the thing she did with Nhu earlier but it didn’t work this time. ~I’ll help you! You’re not alone!~ /_\ She pressed further, still refusing to face him, unable to shake the image from her mind. “I’ll find them and I’ll end this,” He said, more to himself than anyone else “Yeah, that’s what I’ll tell her when I find her. Til then I hope this pond will cheer her up some.” He said getting up dusting off his knees heading back toward the door. She crumbled back onto her bed, her mind abuzz with no ideas and plans. The tears all gone now as she set her jaw firmly. She WOULD help her bondmate. Anyway she knew how to.

It was just before dawn when Banana was roused from a deep slumber by the steady rapping on her door. Could she, Banana would be grumbling instead she merely tightened her face in an annoyed scowl. Any attempt to ignore the knocking only made it worse. Finally giving up, Banana clawed at the air for a hand hold gripping a handful of sheet and tugging herself upright. With a dark glare toward the offending noise, she scooted to the end of her bed, scratching at her shoulder blades sleepily. For another few minutes she got to listen to the repeating thump on her plastic door until she finally got up and stumbled door. Waiting them out wasn’t going to work. Damn.
Turning the flip-down latch and pulling the door, she was greeted by a rush of crisp cool air. This brought a shudder from the little fairy, she looked up toward the skylight toward the pouring rain. Watching the water streak down the glass a while, she realized that this was the first time she had ever seen it rain, unfortunately, it wasn’t very good at holding her attention as she returned to looking for her visitor. Sleepy feien + pranksters=grumpy. Banana clicked her tongue in disgust, noting seeing anyone anywhere.
Someone had better have a good reason to be waking her up this early. Or rather, wake her up and apparently leave. Grouchily, she swayed back into the house, ready to fall back on her bed when the knock came once more, but louder. By now she had about enough of this horseplay and threw up an angry fist and drop her mouth open to yell (like it would do any good), but there was nothing there. Looking on either side of the door in utter confusion, she followed an invisible trail outside to find the culprit. Still nothing, oh well.. Now that she was up, she might as well get an early start on the day.
Banana trotted out along her porch, around her home and onto the grass. A glint at her feet made her startle, upon closer inspection she could make out the ripples of water in the dark. Apparently Oni had been busy constructing a pond near her house as she slept. That wasn’t all he did, in fact, the fountain had been remade into a crude waterfall of sorts and moved near by. The dirt had been piled up on either side to look like a cliff face. Just how long had she been asleep anyway to miss all of this? Now fully awake, she stared dumbly at this change of things.
This water didn’t seem to be anything like the water of the other pond. Even at this distance, she could feel a sort of presence. This water was enchanted but it wasn’t by feien hands, not recognizing the magic, she fidgeted nervously at her dreads. The air wafting off of surface sending a chill through the grass that made her narrow her eyes in distain. Cold wasn’t something she was particularly fond of, she decided and that made the pond that much more disagreeable to her. The young feien stepped to the edge to inspect the water as if it had teeth and was waiting for the opportune moment to snap her up and gobble her whole.
The voice that rang out in her mind just about made that a reality, mouth dropping open in silent scream, Banana lept nearly a foot in the air.
~Well well. Finally awake. Even the dead rouse quicker than you do. But I care not for stiffs, it is you I have business with.~ The feien, clutched at her chest, her eyes rolling in disgust as she looked up across the pool of water. ~So it was YOU knocking on my door! Do you know what time it is? What do you want??~ She shot back, not bothering with pleasantries this time. The Ofanbuuru threw it’s head back in a wide maw bark of laughter.
~What a greeting! After I so graciously gave you a voice and showed you what he didn’t want you to see. I’ve come to collect my payment.~ It telepathed, sitting neatly and so mature for one so small though compared to the fairy, it was still a large creature indeed.
It took a moment for the creature’s words to sink in, her wings snapped open like a fan as she launched into the air crossing the pool of water to come face to face with Nhu. ~Payment?? What do you mean?~ ~Oh! You thought I shared my gift with you out of kindness? Simple child, don’t think I didn’t hear you try and talk to him with it. Barely learning and already trying to command it like it was your own.~ The thin muzzle curled back to show a few pointed teeth. At this, Banana felt herself instinctively take a step back. ~You owe me.~
It knew about that?? She was not aware of just how Nhu’s magic worked. Though she had very little to worry about, Banana could not help but to feel like her privacy was invaded somehow. She prepared to reply but a hesitation made her stop short and bring up her hands. Nhu rose a brow, a tick causing the corners of it’s mouth to draw back in a frown. [ You never told me there was deal involved. ] She started signing again. The visible irritation she caused the creature was enough to settle her own rising temper, her violet eyes half lidding and a knowing grin spreading across her face. As far as tricks of the mind were concerned, Nhu was ruler of that domain, but not having hands per say, or the study to understand the talk that goes with it, she was at a loss and hated that. Banana stepped back with her other foot, kicking off into the air drifting slowly back. [ I owe you nothing. I’m going back to bed. ] She turned and fluttered back to her porch feeling rather pleased with herself.
Being young itself, the Ofanbuuuru din’t take kindly to being made fun of. Nhu rose to it’s feet and sprung into the air. It’s wings aiding it’s jump as it landed feather light on the roof of her house, stepping down to bar her way from her home. ~You have balls, as they say.~ A vicious grin spreading across a vicious face, ~But pushing you luck is not wise..I am not done with you, fairy.~
Fearing that maybe she played with fire a little too much, Banana stopped short of the porch and fled. She didn’t wait to find out what else the Ofanbuuru had in store for her. She could hear the flapping of wings chasing after her and it spurred her on faster toward the screen door. Rain be damned she was not getting caught. Pausing only to make her way through the window, she couldn’t spare handicapping herself further with a broken wing or any other limb since a scream for help was out of the question. Thankfully the rain wasn’t coming down too hard. She could fly at least though it was a bit choppy. The feien buzzed her little zig-zagging pattered across the small expanse of yard and into the kitchen window. She could hear Nhu’s yowl as she tried to wedge her way into the small space after her.
Just over the thundering of her tiny heart in her chest she could hear a chattering just ahead. It was Icce waving to her frantically from the livingroom. Thankful that she wasn’t the only one awake, she zipped to him feeling her stamina starting to wind down, even her adrenaline was failing. The Kunkun took her arm firmly in both tiny hands and helped her fly most of the way, it took a moment to realize they were heading straight for a large orange colored rock. The rock, as they got closer became a sleeping Dream, or rather a once sleeping Dream.
Fluttering his wings, Antehilion awoke with a clatter of metal legs and gears, not having time to think before being barraged by two tiny fluttering things tangling in his hair with a big purple puff zeroing in on them quickly. Beady little eyes narrowing as he rolled producing a smashing thwack of his great wing. “’Ere now! Be off with ye, y’ scallywag! I’ll not have you pestering me crew!” Antehilion snapped winding up for another blow. The first impact spun the creature in the air, a stupefied look on it’s face as it forgot momentarily what it was doing and skittered away before a second dose could be given. Bristled and ready, ‘the captain’ gave an affirmative nod in the ofanbuuru’s direction, he never liked bullies much. Even pirates had respect for the lil guy. Crisis adverted; the Dream plopped back down on his nest, having to get right back up again as the two tiny beings kicked and struggled under him, “Hey! What be goin’ on he—Oofft! Get out of there!” With a little effort, he managed to get both feien and kunkun from his feathers, staring down at them in his talons, carefully of course. Upon seeing the little feien, he set them down and gave one of his trademark sweeping bows, “Pardon me, lassie.. This old bird doesn’t know his own strength.” He stepped back, hobbling as if one of his legs was artifical, but. Banana noticed that he had put a little too much effort in this or she may have been concerned for the Dream. Her near brush with death forgotten for the moment. She never recalled seeing this member of the house hold before! Unfortunately, he didn’t give either enough time to thank him as he rocked back, “Aye.. reminds me of the time I battled a raging hydra..” This seemed to get the desired reaction from both feien and kunkun. He smirked as they stared up at him in wide eyed astonishment. He continued on pacing back and forth with his ‘peg-legged’ gait. “Meanest creature to ever slither the briny deep! Body as long as the daylight hours.. teeth as sharp as a-thousan’ swards..He put up a fight he did! He was no match for th’ capt’n though!” Icce burst into a variable song of chattering, the dream flustering at this sputtering on his words. “Who’s the captain?!?! Why you wee bugger! –I’m- th’ Capt’n!”
Banana quickly covered her mouth trying vainly to hold back a giggle at this. Icce gave her a playful wink. He often liked to tug at the Dream’s rope now and then. It was harmless fun really. Antehilion leaned down, fixing Banana in the gaze of one of his eyes. “Pretty Lady~” he cooed in his mechanical voice. He gently took her hand in the edge of his talon lightly pecking at the back of her hand in a gester he had seen humans do before.“What is the name of such a fetching siren? Surely it is something to match your beauty.” Icce rolled his eyes crossing his arms. Banana blushed deeply at the compliment, Taking her hand back, the feien properly introduced herself with a little curtsey. This seemed to thrill the Dream to no end. Though.. her name gave him pause, he didn’t wish to insult, he cawed resting a wing against his heart. “What a name! So striking!” He sang. She chuckled and shook her head. It was nothing special.. really.. but it did suit her well. He ruffled his plumage and glared back to where Nhu had ran. “Here now.. you two best be stayin’ with me this night.. That creature’s a crooked lil monster. I dun trust it to not try and harm ye again.” He rasped spreading his mighty wings once again. Ushering them both under him, the Dream nested keeping a vigilant watch as they curled into his warmth.
He was right however for somewhere else in the house a very sour purple ball of fluff plotted it's revenge. It would not be insulted this way...

Quote: Whoo! It’s been a while since I wrote in this thing, hasn’t it? Well, I can’t help but feel really different lately. I actually remember what I was doing before I laid down for a nap when that last headache came about. I guess reading back on my other journal kind of kick started this old dusty brain of mine. I’ll be planning on what to do about that later this week I think. As for now, I’m going to spend time with Banana. I noticed that she’s been hiding from me lately. Poor dear. I wonder how she got into my old journal anyhow.. She never used to show interest in my books before… That reminds me! Banana’s summon day, which I learned is a lot different from birthdays for human folk an’ the like, is coming up soon. I talked to Karma and Trio and managed to find something I think she’ll like. ^_^ After much picking and choosing, I decided to get her a little pixa pet and one for myself. ;:cough:: I found this darling little kitten that loved to weave about my fingers. I couldn’t leave him behind so I kept him and named him Andy after a friend of Kami’s. He’s a calico too! I’m sure that a puppy or a kitten would have been a good choice, but my heart went out to a particular jaguar cub. Rather my ears since the little bugger was busy caterwauling to the other pets as it marched about. I don’t know why, but he just seemed perfect for her. We’ll find out soon enough I suppose. I have some other things planned as well I hope she’ll like. I feel bad for being so distant to her recently though. I –will- make it up to her. Walking through the kitchen on his way out to the greenhouse, Oni was mildly shocked to find Banana inside the house constructing tiny forts out of checker pieces. From the rather bristled look to her wings, she must have been surprised to see him too. She dropped the piece in her hands and floundered to flutter after it as it bounced along the table toward the edge. Stooping down to catch the game piece in his hand, and her along side it, Oni brought her up to eye level taking note of the nervous smile and petting at her gently with his thumb. “Did you miss me? I’m sorry I scared you. I was just looking for you. How does peach slices and pear bits sound today?” She looked up into his eyes and saw the Oni she remembered again, she hopped up and down excitedly in his hand. Her tiny face lit up with a bright grin and Oni found himself barraged under fluttering wings, tiny hands and feet scampering all over him. He got her settled down and headed back to his room. At this, Banana shirked back against the nape of his neck. Hiding in his hair a bit. He paused and reached up to comfort her. “It’s okay. No scary books today. My mom used to do tattoos for people, so I have a sort of interest in body art. I figured I’d show you how to do Henna which is a less extreme form.” He said bumping the door open with his hip and continuing over to his desk. Set out neatly on the desk was a bowl of water, a face towel, some oils and two little tubes. The feien sniffed at the tubes curiously but waited for him to continue. “Henna is like drawing but on your body. Some people use it for relaxation and others because it’s very pretty.” He looked up at the bookshelf above the desk, reading each of the titles carefully until he found the one he was looking for. “See? Like this. It can be anything you want too.” Oni added sitting down in the chair. He dipped a finger into the water and took it back out shaking it off. “First of all. You want to be nice and clean so.. hop in, and wash off really good.” He said nodding at the bowl. Banana fluttered up to the edge slowly lowering herself into the container. At first, she was okay, but soon gasped as she found that the bowl was really slippery on the inside and ended up dunking herself. Stifling a chuckle, Oni watched as she quickly got to her to her feet shaking excess water from her thick dreads. The water wasn’t too bad. She could tell it had been left standing for a while as it had a bit of a n** to it. It had a sweet smell to it. Almost like the flowers in the garden and left the skin feeling nice and soft. It was quite soothing and Banana leaned against the rim of the bowl wriggling her tiny toes. After the past week, the impromptu bath was just what the doctor ordered. Allowing her to play and wash at their leisure, Oni slid his chair back to the dresser popping in a cd to listen to. It wasn’t very often but ever now and again he liked to listen to some eastern music. It may have been a little campy but it did suite the mood fine. Figuring herself to be done, Banana climbed her way out of the bowl and took up a corner of the towel, drying herself off. She sat herself down in the middle of the towel cross-legged looking up at him expectantly. “Now, what you’re going to do requires you to stay really still, that is, if you’re being drawn upon anyway.” Oni instructed he took up one of the tubes and squirted some of the contents into what looked like a fountain pen. “This is the Henna paste. What it does is stains the skin but only temporarily. You let it dry and then when it’s ready. You take off the paste and what’s left behind is the drawing you made!” He demonstrated on himself drawing a little heart on his hand. “The important thing is not to move while it’s drying or it could smear or crack.” Banana watched him apply the paste to his hand, noting the sharp tip of the pen and fluttered her wings out of nervous habit. [ Does that hurt..? ] she sighed clasping her small hands together unsurely. Shaking his head, Oni brought his hands closer and showed her that while it looked sharp, the pen was not digging into his skin at all. “Would you like to try it for yourself?” he asked smiling warmly as she to him with trusting nods. “Okay, how shall we do this?” Thumping her finger tips against her chin, banana grined and signed, [ You can paint me first if you want. Then I can paint you! ] Nodding at this wise and just decision, Oni carefully scooped her up in his hand. “And what would you like me to paint?” He asked poking her lightly with the pen. She took a moment to think on this then jumped to her feet. [ I want.. big bold markings like a tiger! So I can look all feral and mean! No, giant wave crashing down to destroy a peasant village! NO! Even better! ….Gozilla vs. Mothra with big graffiti letters of my name under it! And-- ] “Banana…” [ Wait I’m not done! And FIRE! With awesome angel wings and clowns and--] She continued on raking her fingers through the air viciously, impassioned in her idea. “Banana…!” [ Yes Oni?] She signed just as cute as you please. “You are only 2 and some inches big, my dear. While those are awesome ideas, Godzilla being my hero and all, maybe you could just step it down a bit?” He laughed, touseling her lightly with his pinky. She giggled with a blush. Maybe she did go a little over board. Just a little. [ Just paint what you think would look pretty. ] She said thinking of no better suggestion. He nodded and laid her back down on his palm setting to work. Patiently and carefully, he began to paint the tiny feien, being sure not to press to hard or use too much. He made her yellow markings on her arm into the blossoms of a lotus plant winding and weaving it’s vines along her arms and down to her tiny hands that were tiny licks of flame. He painted up her outstretched wings to match those of a monarch butterfly, with a bit of stylization here and there of course. Banana tried her best to stay still, her face twitching as the cool mush tickled at her a bit. She had to though, so she tried to focus, in fact there was a particular spot on the wall she stared at unblinkingly. Minutes seemed like hours and hours seemed like much much longer. Oh such torture! She wanted to be off fluttering and playing and..wait way was she being moved?? “Okay, mami. You’re done!” Oni said standing her upright onto the desk. It was then that she realized just how uncomfortable this stuff felt as it crackled and flake. She made a disgusted face up at Oni who clicked his tongue sympathetically. “Here, let me help you..” He chuckled and brushed her off carefully and reached into a desk drawer to pluck out a mirror. “Take a look.” Apprehensively, she peeked around the edge of the mirror. Her violet eyes flying open at the pretty patterns on her skin and her wings…! They were just as she wanted! So pretty! She was so thrilled she danced about before the mirror doing spins and pirouettes with glee. She looked up to him with a watery smile, reaching for his hand, she wrote out ‘Thank you’ across his palm. Oni couldn’t help but grin widely at this gently picking her up to cup against his face. “You’re very welcome..!” she hugged his face as best she could, for once feeling beautiful and it was thanks to her bonded.

Should have been posted yesterday Penn had taken to sunning himself on the hood of the Desoto. With the greenhouse built around it, it was the perfect spot to do so. The screen kept out most of the bugs and he didn’t mind the hokey meditation radio station music that Banana left on the radio. What he didn’t expect was to get a calendar slapped onto his nose. “What the hell, man?!” He sputtered flailing and clawing at it as if it was trying to eat his face. He ended up staring up into the pouting face of a familiar single horned boy. “…what? Someone piss in your cheerios.. again?” The concept groaned . Oni shook his head, “Look at the date.” “.. It’s Monday..” “No!” “…it’s the 20?” “The circle!” “Oh!” He gasped in shock staring at the crudely drawn circle around the 18th, blinked once and shook his head, “What about it..?” “I completely missed Banana’s summon day I’m such a bad parent, how can you miss your own kid’s birthday??” Oni yowled at himself. “I got the stuff, ordered the cake an’ everything but completely forgot the d--” He clapped his hands over his mouth, opening them back up, “Where is she..?” Sitting up, his sandaled feet drawing up in front of him, Penn scratched at the base of one of his curved horns with his thumbnail. “Last I remember, the little tyke was with Kione, something about training. I didn’t quite catch it.” “Training? Well, no matter, I have to figure out something for her I mean it’s her first summon day, It should be special!” Oni persisted drumming his hand on the hood of the car. The concept snickered and jabbed him playfully in the shoulder, “Ahahaha Take her to Chucky Cheeses, kids go gaga over that stuff.” He joked. At first the thought sounded ludicrous, but maybe.. No, surely not.. Perhaps it could if. The dawning horror of what his big mouth just unleashed made Penn pale considerably, “S-sure you you’re not thinking… Oni c’mon man I was kidding! No! It’s not going to work!!” It was already too late, Oni has half way to the house, car keys jingling in hand triumphantly over his head. “CAR RIDE!!!!” “Yield.” came the firm commanding tone of the Oculai as he stood over the feien at his feet. Both were dripping with sweat, glaring at each other for totally different reasons. Banana tried vainly to still her shaking pant as she stared daggers up at Kione. Later she would realize that he wasn‘t doing this to mock her, but for now she was too concerned with being upset. She had requested that the warrior teach her how to fight and all he had done was succeed in making her feel ridiculous. The Oculai held in the two hands of his upper torso a tiny staff made out of a toothpick. A eraser nub stuck onto the end to keep the ‘weapon’ from being too dangerous. It’s mate having been knocked off moments ago as the sparing had gotten particularly nasty. She had proven that he should not underestimate her strength in the form of a stinging welt under his left eye. He had been lucky. A minor miscalculation could have cost him that eye. In turn, she was lucky that he was a skilled warrior or she might of ended up with much worse than having the air knocked from her for a moment or two. Kione eased his stance, taking a step back studying her before resting on the floor of his den. “Your problem,” He began, finally reaching up to rub at the stinging wound, hissing through clenched teeth, “Is you lack focus, little one. You are wanting it for all the wrong reasons and in that are too eager to get yourself hurt.” [ I hurt you first, did I not? I am strong and I am able! ] She persisted, refusing to be denied that little victory. The anger in her signing almost confusing her message to him. He set the toothpick aside and shook his head. “Yes, but at what cost?” He pointed at her midriff where a bruise was already starting to form. She covered herself with her palms, cheeks reddening from a furious blush and the twinge of pain. “The next time, it may be more than a bruise. You are not ready and far too young for the bitterness of battle.” He closed his eyes, his lips pursing together. Banana sat back on her knees, shoving her toothpick away from her angrily, [ So what you’re saying is you will not teach me. ] “What I am saying is I will not teach you as long as you come to me with unfocused anger.” he corrected, his own larger wings fanning out at his sides. He pondered a moment and spoke up again, “Like Oni said.. Do not make assumptions. It makes an a** out of yourself and I.” A crude translation, but it worked. Banana ‘s head drooped forward, mulling over his words as she folded her arms tightly against her chest. A familiar tone caught both of their attentions and they both looked toward the window. Banana rose to her feet and stepped over to confirm her guess. It was indeed Oni and he was looking around for her at the bottom of the tree. Fingers drumming nervously on the bark of the tree she chanced a gaze over her shoulder at the unmoving Oculai and turned to face him. [ I’ll return. I’ll try harder, I really want to learn. ] “We’ll see.” He replied neither cold or welcoming. She bit back her anger and fluttered out the window down before Oni. “Banana~ were you up there bothering that old bug.” he cooed playfully. She gave him a sheepish smile and lilted onto his earring. He called up the tree after Kione. “Hey, Kione, we’re going for a car ride, you want to come with us?” The low thrum of Kione’s wings sounded off as he buzzed in a lazy pattern from his window. “Thank you no.. Can’t say I’m particularly fond of.. Car-rides.” He replied cheerfully. He almost seemed like a different person entirely. “Suit yourself, but you’re going to miss the pizza.” Oni teased waving up at the Oculai heading back along the trail to his home. What was this.. Pizza? Banana contented herself with swinging on Oni’s earring pondering what it could be. By the time they had arrived home she had come up with possibly 100 or more things that it could be. “I felt really bad for missing your actual summon day, Banana but thanks to Penn I’m going to take you to Chucky Cheeses!” Oni said happily, reaching up to pluck her gently from his earring to look at. She grinned up at him happily.. Then her little brows knit together in confusion. What was so special about this cheese that some guy named Chucky owned?? Though, she didn’t want to upset her bonded, so she immediately perked right back up again. Hopping happily in the palm of his hand. “Penn was right!” Oni thought to himself ecstatically. “She seemed to be really happy with that idea. Banana was endlessly fascinated by the trip to the establishment. Jogging along the upper rim of the steering wheel as Oni drove, playing with the radio dials and electronic windows. Or rather she did until Penn suggest she find something a bit less annoying to tinker with. Getting inside was an exercise in patience, but who’s exactly no one was really sure. The lady behind the counter was more than happy to inform them that unless he was wearing pants and a shirt, Penn was not allowed inside. One trip to the department store and 20 pairs of levis later, they returned again they were not allowed to enter. The reason was, “I’m sorry sir, but you can’t come in without a child.” She said in her uppity nasal tone. Oni blinked at her and held banana in both hands in the woman’s face, “But I do have a child! See?? My baby’s one month old as of two days ago!” Banana scrunched her fingers at the woman who stared down at her owlishly. Her mouth dropping open to protest. “B-but sir.. She..” As if on cue, both Oni and Banana gave the woman a piteous stare, “You’re.. Not discriminating are you..?” The woman began to fluster, “No! Of course not it’s just that .. Uhm ..!” Penn leaning in from behind the pair, “That violates your policy doesn’t it..? I’d hate to see this place get canned..” He jutted out his lower lip in a mocking pout. The woman resigned and sighed ringing them up passes and handing them over defeated. “Have a nice day.. sirs” Taking the tickets, they headed further into the building. Banana was enthralled by all the flashing lights, blaring music and laughing children. Oni was just happy to see her in a better mood. Penn tried to remember what commandment he broke exactly to end up in hell. The little feien discovered that pizza was not only tasty but rather pleasant to play in. Claiming the entire thing as she waded through the hot cheese and sauce in sheer joy. She became a crack shot at whack a mole diving into the holes after the plastic bobbling rodents to give them what for. She completely forgotten to ask just where the cheese of Chucky’s was. Then disaster struck. At some time during the night, Oni sent Penn to do the obligatory birthday song and dance from the costumed characters of the place. The one dressed as the famous rat himself, mistook Oni for the birthday boy and wrapped him up in a crushing fake fur hug. Banana, never seeing a costume like that before panicked and thought he was trying to eat her bonded. [ Don’t worry! I’ll save you!!] Fluttering off to the prize counter, Banana found a little plastic flagpole and with as much strength as she could muster stabbed the wretched beast in it’s eye. This brought not only a yelp of shock from the costumed employee, but also from Oni, Penn, the quaint little family beside them and the lady by the door. Fearlessly, she darted into the giant grinning maw of the costume and found ANOTHER person held captive by the monster. Zipping about like an angered bee, Banana vowed the evil creature’s wrath would end here. Every fiber of her tiny being tensing up, The latex surrounding her began to melt, stinking up the mask with the pungent odor of burning plastic hair. The more than panicked worker inside screamed and flailed wildly trying to dislodge the match he thought was thrown into his suit. Oni’s face went white as a sheet as he screamed, “HE ATE HER!!!” and proceeded to maul the suit thusly. “…and that’s why we’re not allowed down town anymore..” Oni sighed as he finished explaining to Karma over the phone. He waited politely for the laughing on the other end to finish before continuing on. “Yeah so.. Uh.. Could you do me a favor and pick up my three lil…things from Trio for me..? She’ll know what you’re talking about. I’m.. sorta under house arrest so I can’t really leave.” He looked down apologetically at the little feien curled up protectively in the hem of his shirt. She had long sense nodded off, still carrying the flag she procured from the prize counter in her hands.

Banana woke up bright and early for once. Unable to get used to the longer hours the rest of the family seemed to pull off so flawlessly. Stretching the stiffness of sleep from her body, fluttering her wings to get the blood pumping through them slowly. She crossed her tiny living room to her small bathroom. Her sisters had helped her make the place look even more like home with the addition of some model furniture they coerced Oni into buying from a hobby store. It was beginning to look more like a house and not a bird feeder anymore. The little christmas light Peggity wired up to a doorbell button buzzed to life as she pushed the plunger down. Staring at the compact lid mirror for a while as she ran her fingers though her dreadlocks, leaning closer over the doll sink. She sighed at her humdrum looks standing back up right with her hands on her hips. Save for her hair. It never occurred to her how complicated a hairstyle she had. For a while she mulled over undoing them, but to get them back as they were seemed too much of a hassle. Other than that, she looked so blasé. Granted, the henna she was now adorned in was a vast improvement, she couldn't help think that. Her thoughts drifted to Globin and Merri again and just how spectacular they looked in comparison. She had watched television with Oni and saw the many examples of what was considered to be gorgeous and beautiful. Some were quite that, but others were quite the opposite in her opinion. Turning herself sideways in the mirror, she tried out one of the many cute sexy poses , watching her body in the mirror. Unfortunately, she was still greatly under developed so the poses only looked silly. She was, noticing that she had put on a bit of weight since she came from her bloom. The curve of her stomach a little more pronounced and her hips a little wider than before. Not completely bothered by it, she actually felt that it might help out a bit. She fussed with her hair, making sexy faces at herself in the mirror. Half lidding her eyes as she kissed at the glass seductively, winked, and licked her lips. Each making her turn up her nose in disgust and giggle silently at such a ridiculous show .She’d have to remember not to do those faces in public. Ever. How people could consider it attractive was a mystery. A curious twinge in the back of her mind made her wonder what exactly Globin and Merri thought of her if anything at all. All of this made her face warm with a deep blush and she quickly though of other things. She gathered her wash basin and pitcher heading back to the living room. Banana looked back to the prize flag she left propped in the corner of her room. Scowling at the dorky grinning rat emblazoned across it in distain. How an establishment could choose such a silly representation of their business was beyond her. On that note, how dare it attack her… Friend? No. Brother? Hardly. Father? Yes that worked., it seemed fitting. Oni provided for her and cared for her like a parent so that would make him her father. He was a boy, maybe he could help her to understand what boys might like. She smiled at this, Yes she’d ask him and see what he’d say. Quote: I never thought I’d ever have to play the father role and give ‘The Talk’ before. Granted I had something to save me from some embarrassment, and incidentally I am glad that feien do not have reproductive organs. Though, in retrospect, I don’t get the courting habits of feien. Banana asked me about boys and what they might like and I really didn’t know how to answer her questions. So I had to toss together something quick about wings and ears, but on a whole, she should only be herself and make friends on her own. She seemed to understand this. That’s good. I just hope that she doesn’t go around grabbing ears and wings at random…. My little girl is growing up and noticing boys. … I’m both proud and a little scared for her now. I would hate to see her heart broken by a crush or run off and never return to me with the love of her life. I don’t think she would do that however. I hope anyway… She talked about not being beautiful like the women on TV and I explained to her that what we saw on TV was merely what the media wanted us to accept as beautiful and wonderful, but it wasn’t always looks that guys are after. Right now I have this big grin on my face because my feien trusted me, of all people, to talk about this with. Granted, I am no stranger to crushes , I don’t think I’m the best source of information on love. Oh! I think that the supplies I ordered for her have arrived. The writing is spaced out a little and a tiny sheet of paper is tacked below the entry. It was tacked there with a bit of chewing gum. The hand writing on it was neatly done in black paint almost the size of fine print. Quote: Thank you for the gifts, Father! They’re all wonderful especially the paints. Don’t worry, I won’t go grabbing wings and ears or running away. Well, without telling you. wink Love you, B.T. Oni’s writing continues below the little sheet of paper. Quote: That’s a relief or I’d have a lot of explaining to do. XD Oh and would you mind not sticking notes to my pages with gum? It makes the pages stick together in my book. :’ Another Note is stuck in the crack of the book, this time written in blue paint. Quote: But if I don’t they slide all over and smear on the page! Maybe I’ll stick them to your desk for you! That should work better! Or I’ll use your pen! The writing after a little jittery. LoOk! I wrOt E wI th Yo oiu P En! B\ T’The rest of the page is dabbed with tiny hand and feet prints, some smiley faces in various shades of paint as well as a spill here and there that bleeds to the previous page.

compiled from the shop by Jaes 10/22 Banana Tango Happy to be off his house arrest finally, Oni bundled himself up in a nice jacket. [ Where are you going? ] Banana inquired cutely as she fluttered about his head. ?I?m getting out of the house for a bit.? He paused stuffing his wallet into a pocket. ?Want to go with me? I can take you to the shop where I?ve seen other feien hang out occasionally.? She perked, preparing to dive into his free pocket when a voice froze her in mid air. ?Oooh no you will not like that, young lady! Oni.. Shame on you, almost letting her catch her death!? They both looked down to see the familiar little hedgehog waddle to them with a scarf on her arm. ?Here now.. At least wear this if not anything else..? She fretted wrapping the little feien in the scarf as she drifted down to her. ?NOW you may leave.? They both waved and headed out the door toward the shop, pausing before going in, Oni peeked into his pocket and fished her out. ?Go ahead of me. I.. Think I?m going to get something to cook for dinner.? She peered through the glass and moved to return to his pocket. [ I .. I don?t see anyone I know there.. ] She signed up at him. Smiling warmly he opened the door and ushered her in like a parent sending their youngster to school for the first time. ?It?ll be fine. I?ll be back later to get you.? SHe hovered there torn between fluttering out and venturing further. Irisa Irisa looked at Berra, before turning back to Xathriel. The similarity between her and Berra was indeed there, although in the end, the color of the markings always made Irisa feel that the biggest similarities could be seen between Berra and Ava, and between Irisa and Raylan, come to think of it.
"True." she nodded. "Well, I'm glad to meet you too, Xathriel."
Irisa gazed around the shop to see what she could catch on what other feien were doing. May as well see if there were any possible avenues for her research too. Although just as she suspected, magic wasn't used very often. She wondered if that was because feien were just like that, or if it was because the shop was mainly just a place to socialize and finding reasons to use magic in it may have not been the norm there, but was possibly the norm elsewhere.
Although that unnerving sickly looking feien seemed to be throwing death glances at Shalafi's direction. She wondered if there was something about him. Well, might as well ask.
"Who's... he?" Irisa remarked with some wariness in her voice as she glanced upwards. She wondered if the other feien in the room shared the same feeling she felt, but that was another thing that didn't seem very polite to ask. Rislin Rislin snorted. 'What are the odds. Three in my household as well. But no talks of a new one yet. But I have a feeling one of my flatmates wishes to breed with her friend.' The time feien glanced over at the crowd. 'Dead?' The word snapped her attention quickly. 'What do you mean by this? Why would feiens be predicted to be dead? Are they murdered?' Ankou and Shalafi "Because I'm death," ANkou replied, grinning almost ferally at Rislin from where he sat. Shalafi frowned slightly, not quite knowing who Irisa was talking about. "I'm sorry... what does the feien look like that you're talking about?" He had a sinking suspicion that he already knew... Kookaberra Berra listened to Irisa and Xathriel converse, prepared to offer introductions if needed. A sharp whistle from the door of the shop, which was cracked open slightly, made her turn her head in its direction and instantly assume a guilty posture, looking like she was trying to hide fully behind Shalafi's wing.
Talonfaust hovered there looking rumpled, disheveled, and not very happy at all, having panicked at finding her gone and spending the last hour searching frantically for his wayward daughter.
Kookaberra winced, realizing she had some explaining to do. "I...uhm...I've gotta go now." she muttered, pausing to give Shalafi a hug, and standing to offer one to Irisa as well. "I kinda didn't tell Daddy I was leaving..."
She could tell already she was in for a lecture on the way home... Shalafi Whu oh... Shalafi swallowed guiltily, knowing that Talon was likely NOT happy. "Well, I'd asked you to come see me again... just tell him that." Rislin The time feien blinked at Ankou's words. Death? She had never heard of such a feien. She snorted disbelievingly. 'Death is too powerful of a event to give to something so small. I mean...to give death to someone who has the ability to be judgemental...it would be...could be...horrific. Nero and Div "But I CAN'T be your page, Div! I'm an adult!""Excuse me? Excuse me? Dare you defy your queen? I have named you my page, and so thou shalt remain!"Drifting backwards, Nero continued to protest his case, but it fell upon deaf ears. Sighing, he whirled so that he was flying forward, lips pursed. Div certainly clung to her "hired help" like a madwoman, which Nero was beginning to believe she was. Still, he'd figure out someway to no longer be in her service.
Not like he had agreed to it to begin with. Sigh."It's busy," Div commented, lifting an eyebrow.Eyes losing a bit of their glazed expression, Nero finally glanced around the room. So it was! Expression brightening, Nero waved to those he knew, and eyed those he didn't. (Quite a few!)"More subjects for me to dominate!" Div shrieked with explicit joy.Uh-oh. Looked like Nero was had to be damage control. "Maybe you shouldn't treat them as your subjects?" he implored meekly."Silence! They are my subjects, and they shall recognize me as their queen. If not, they shall suffer." And with that, Div buzzed into the center of the shop and struck what she believed to be a queenly pose, waiting for the others to grovel at her red feet. Nero simply hovered behind her, looking terrified. Irisa Rislin and that other feien seemed to be having an interesting conversation judging by their expressions. ...hmm, perhaps someday Irisa should learn how to read lips. After all, if she was trying to get research data, it'd be important to be able to record all observances. Never know when someone might reveal that some spells take actual spell chantings to use, for example.
Although why couldn't Shalafi see who Irisa was looking at? Could that blank stare in his eyes have meant...? Well, whatever the case, it wasn't very relevant to either magic research or any sort of comfortable conversation that Shalafi might like to indulge in, Irisa imagined.
"The... rather pale sickly looking fellow." Irisa clarified to Shalafi. "...I was just wondering, that's all."
Wondering because there seemed to be something about him, although Irisa imagined that if Shalafi felt that same feeling, then he probably would be able to pick it up in Irisa's tone of voice. Ankou and Shalafi Growling softly, Ankou turned to glare at Rislin. "You act like you know it all. Ask the ancient sometime... the one that was afraid of me and nearly pissed himself when he saw me. HE told me what I was, I didn't just make it up." Sighing, Shalafi slumped a bit. "That would be Ankou. He and I are bonded to the same person, and he's a bit... out there. I'm sorry if he bothered you." Honestly, he had no idea if Ankou had actually pestered Irisa or not, but the chances were good. Irisa Irisa stared in Berra in surprise for a bit, before nodding.
"Ah! I hope you won't be in trouble, sister. Maybe you could tell him you came to the shop because I was here?"
Hopefully going off to see her own sister would be a sufficient excuse to make their father not be too mad about it. Although guiltily, Irisa wondered if then Talonfaust would feel bad about not coming, either. But there was no time to think through all the ramifications of that.
"Oh, right, well, I'd better not keep you." Irisa added, before taking her sister's hug. "Bye, Berra. We'll see each other again." Banana Tango Steeling herself a bit, the tiny feien wavered closer to the group, just finding a comfortable spot to sit, she huddled in her scarf and just watched the activity for now. Her fingers wringing at the fringes not particularly paying attention to the conversation. She was not aware there were this many feien she hadn't heard of hand. Kookaberra and Talonfaust Berra smiled to both her sister and to Shalafi. "Thank you both, but....I have a feeling not being straight with him up front will just make it worse." she blushed a bit. "....I don't lie very well."
"Kookaberra..." Talon said in a slightly warning tone. It wasn't quite the angry snarl he held for those he was about to let loose on, but it was a stony parental tone of voice that struck fear into the hearts of children on the recieving end of it. And, as she said earlier, people only referred to her by her full name when she was in trouble.
"Better go." she said quickly, pushing off the shelf and flittering to the door to meet Talon, sparing one final wave over her shoulder at her friends and sister before both vanished from sight. Irisa A familiar shouting caught Irisa's attention as she noticed Div and Nero enter the room. She gave them a wave.
"Hey Nero. Er... hello, Div."
...Nero!? He became an adult, now? When was that? Div still seemed to be trying to boss him around. The young feien wasn't sure if she should intrude though... at least, Nero seemed to be handling himself. Before she could think about it further, she remembered Shalafi.
"Oh, no, he didn't bother me." Irisa nodded to Shalafi. "He just... seems... very unique. I wonder what element he is. ...does he tend to bother people?"
Looking up at Nero and Div again made Irisa realize... Maybe Ankou was like Div? Div herself was very unique in both looks and personality, and seemed like the type to bother people. But even Div didn't seem to bring up the feelings that Ankou did. Shalafi "He's a death feien," Shalafi whispered, almost as if he didn't want to be heard. Suddenly, a change of topic presented itself rather readily, and he perked up a bit. "Nero?" he called, leaning forward a bit as if peering off the shelf for the bi-coloured feien. Nero and Div Nero, hearing his name called, turned towards Irisa and Shalafi.
"Irisa! Shalafi!" he cried, delighted. He hadn't noticed her or Shalafi on the shelf there. Grinning, he moved towards them, but came to an abrupt stop when he felt a hand close around a trailing piece of hair."Where do you think you're going?" Div asked, narrowing her eyes.Nero grimaced. Div wasn't holding his hair hard enough to hurt, but he was afraid she would. Gods be damned! That stupid hair of his always got in the way!
"To visit my friends," he replied calmly as he could, and pointed at Irisa and Shalafi.Div's sharp, bi-colored eyes flashed down to the shelf. "Bah! Friends! What does a page need friends for? I say you can't visit them."Nero jaw went slack. "But why? Div, let go!""They didn't greet me as their queen!" Div hissed, and gave Nero's hair a hard yank.Unfortunately for Div, Nero was used to having his hair pulled, and he flurried his wings quick as he could in Div's face to startle her. The red Feien let go with a cry and Nero winged his way over to the others, muttering.
"Sorry about the delay," he laughed, and pushed hair behind his ear. Div floated a distance away, fuming. Xathriel The simple description from Shalafi prompted a startled reaction from Xathriel. "H-he's a what?" she stammered and fixed the dirty Feien with a wided eyed, and somewhat frightful stare. She scooted back as Shalafi moved towards the edge of the shelf. Irisa A death feien?!
"I... never heard of a death feien in any of the documented information about feien." Irisa remarked in surprise. Although death!? What a morbid element to be...
It didn't seem like Shalafi wanted to talk about it too much. All the same because Nero had come over.
"Hello, Nero!" Irisa cheerfully greeted. "Er... I hope everything is going okay with Div? She seemed to be actually pulling your hair back there."
Nero seemed to tolerate that well enough, but Irisa couldn't help but imagine that had to get extremely annoying. That was rather... rude in general, actually. She hoped everything was going okay with Nero back at home. Shalafi At Xathriel's exclamation, Shalafi turned towards her. "His element is death... at least that's what Yeande said when she got back from taking him to see the elders." As Nero approached, he beamed a smile, getting to his feet fully and standing before the other feien. "It's okay... who's that with you?" he asked, having heard the vague shrieks. Nero and Div Nero grinned sheepishly at Irisa. "I'm fine. She yanks hair a lot, really, and I think my scalp has become accustomed to it. She never pulls too hard, either. I suppose she's just a bit.. hands on? But it's okay! She's just very - "A brightly colored hand came to rest on Nero's shoulder, nails digging in slightly. "Possessive of my servants," Div purred.Nero shrugged her hand off and returned to smiling. "Indeed. Div - ""QUEEN DIV." boomed the red Feien."Queen Div, maybe you should visit your other subjects?" Nero said, eyeing her earnestly.Glowering at Nero, Div accomplished the impossible and turned on her heel mid-air. "Consider this a reward for decent service," she snapped, then flitted off to inspect the Feien accesory cabinet.Sighing with relief, Nero greeted both Feien with a warm hug, though he was unsure how to greet Xathriel and simply offered her a wave. "That's Div," he said, smiling at Shalafi. "The one who thinks she's a queen?" Xathriel Death... he's death.... Xathriel kept scooting until her back was pressed against a corner, where the shelf met the wall. Her inner nervousness continued to grow. Ankou's presence was only adding to the stress she felt with so many unknown Feien closing in around where they sat. I wish Envy or Aileron was here... she curled herself up, drawing her knees towards her chest and winding her arms around them. Shalafi One pale brow lifted as Shalafi took in the exchange and snorted softly. "Queen. Right." He didn't think too much of this particular feien already, and the fact that she was acting like this with Nero... "Hey Nero?" he said softly. "Remember when you told me I was an idiot for putting up with Calico hurting me? You were right." The pointed stare from the blind feien let him know exactly what Shalafi thought of this particular arrangement. Nero Nero sighed heavily. "I know," he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. "She just doesn't really hurt. She grabs and pokes, but honestly, I think she means well. Were she doing things like Calico did, I promise you, I wouldn't put up with it."
Not to mention the fact that Nero was a bit afraid of defying more than he already had, given what he had seen of her strength and speed.
"Besides! She's gone now," Nero said, perking up. "How have you folks been?" he asked, addressing both Shalafi and Irisa. Irisa Someone had to see the elders about this Ankou!? Was that why there wasn't any Death listed in the feien documentation. Irisa really would have to keep her eye on that. A unique magic element like that could lead to all sorts of developments. ...hopefully ones that don't result in living up to the element's name, come to think of it. Careful care better be taken then, just like with any truly dangerous experiment.
"Yea..." Irisa remarked to Nero. "Possessive, huh? I suppose... it might be a way of her showing that she cares about you, at least. If it's anything like other nonblood sibling relationships I've seen. At least... I'd hope that's the case."
...Div was indeed a very unique feien. Nero Nero giggled at Irisa and tucked more hair behind his ear, running his hands through it so they wouldn't remain idle. Nero hated idle hands.
"That's a good way to think of it. Like young boys teasing the girls they like," he said, smiling. Shalafi Shalafi still wasn't amused. He moved to sit back where he had been... n ow without Berra or Xathriel. Where had she gone? "Xath?" he asked softly, not sure if she'd left or simply gone somewhere else. Rislin Rislin smirked as she seemed to hit a nerve of Ankou's. 'Tsk. Tsk. No need to be so testy. Is one not allowed to express your thoughts around you? No wonder you're alone.' Irisa "Well, yes, if she likes you that way, too." Irisa smiled. That was amusing, though, if that were true. As it was, Irisa had no idea if it was a sibling sort of love or a crush (her fairy godmother told Irisa about how she herself had puppy crushes all the time when she was young), but it was interesting all the same.
"I've been doing well, myself." she nodded. "I''ve... just been doing research lately, that's all."
Wow, she wondered what this business with this Calico person was about. He didn't... sound very nice. Could there be evil feien out there? Irisa wondered how right her fairy godmother could be when she talked about how she couldn't find any outright evil mendels and wondered if that applied to feien, but... Well, whatever the case, asking about it was probably none of her business. Xathriel "Yes?" Xathriel answered reflexively, still lost in her anxiety. "Oh.. yes, Shalafi?" she whispered from the corner, her gaze finally leaving Ankou. "Did you say something?" Arith Arith gave a shake of her head, returning to herself once more. Must have dozed off there or something. Looking around, she spotted Nero, giving a small wave of the hand as she watched the ongoings from beside the blinded feien. It wasn't that she was shy, it was more that she wasn't one to intrude. Ankou "Your thoughts are one thing. Stating that I'm an idiot simply because you don't believe me is another." Ankou turned in a huff, winding his arms around his knees and glaring towards the knot of Feien. Banana Tango Her wings flexing and closing at her back, Banana rocked her heels the conversations all running together like white noise by now as she had started to day dream. Shaking her head clear. She looked back toward the door abandoning her seat to flutter toward it to take her leave. It was an interesting experience none the less.

She couldn't say that she was upset that no one tried to talk to her. All in all, she couldn't blame them really. They all seemed so happy with their friends, why should she expect them to notice her. She didn't flutter too far from the entrance of the shop waiting for Oni to come back. She felt a little upset that he had just dumped her there and left her on her own. Maybe she should try and fly back home? No, she hadnt paid a lot of attention to the route as Oni walked. For this, she mentally cursed, it was probably for the better anyway. She wouldnt want to worry him after all.
Whirling about to look inside once more at the other feien still whooping it up in the shop, she felt her tiny hands tighten into fists. Maybe she should go back inside? Would a second entrance be better accepted? Unfortunately she didn't have too long to think on this as a familiar voice called to her. She glanced over her shoulder to see Oni waving to her on his way across the street. His arms piled high with groceries.
"Remind me next time to drive us down here next time." He joked lightly She merely smiled politely and fluttered to hang onto his earring like an overly large decoration.
"Did you have fun? Meet anyone new?" He frowned a little as he felt his earring swing left to right faintly from her headshake.
"Oh.. Well.. Maybe another time, hm? It happens sometimes, honey." He sighed walking them home in relative silence. She looked down at her dangling feet, face masked by the awkward scarf wondering what might of happened had she went back inside. She had always pictured what meeting other feien might have been like. Sure, it may have been a little over romanticized, but it was a nice thought. She sighed sadly, unfortunately it was nothing like she expected. She felt like some kind of peeping tom sneaking a view of some world she couldn't be part of. There was no one there that she could relate to. They were all, by any means, normal and happy.
The turn of Oni’s head snapped her out of her fowl mood as they turned up the driveway to the house, Banana squinted at a large orange bag hanging from the doorknob. It had a crudely drawn face like a Jack-O-lantern upon it and the words HAPPY HALLOWEEN in some text that looked lumpy but was supposed to be dripping blood. She fluttered ahead of Oni and inspected the bag close up, climbing inside after prying open the sides carefully. "Careful, tiki torch.." Oni called down to her fishing his keys from his pocket with his tail. She came out a moment later struggling with a sheet of paper that listed 'Some fun safe ways to Trick or Treat this Spook-tacular holiday'. Spook-tacular. Who comes up with this crap anyway? Oni couldn't help but chuckle at this, finally getting the door open and stepped inside, taking the bag from the knob on his way. Probably more coupons. He thought aloud setting down the groceries and rooting through the bag. It had a fun sized Snickers, a few junk mail notices of the local haunted houses and costume stores along with the list. Truth be told, Oni -Loved- Halloween, already the front of the house showed signs of festive décor from ghosts to bats even bloody skeletons hanging from the lower tree branches. There was even a little set out in the yard for something Oni called the Oban Festival.
Banana fixated herself on the snicker’s bar, chewing off the wrapper to get at the chocolate inside, nibbling happily as Oni read the paper aloud. "Ahem~ Tips for a blah blah thing blah.
Feed your kids a healthy meal prior to going trick or treat. Your children will be happier, and it will help reduce the temptation of kids wanting to devour candy from the first trick or treat stop."
He looked down at his now chocolate covered feien and laughed going back to the paper, "Hahahha check." She grinned up at him licking the gooey mess off her hands and fluttering to his shoulder to read along with him.
"Children of any age should be accompanied by a parent, if possible. Teens or young teens who still trick or treat may resist this notion; if they trick or treat without an adult, set firm rules and require a child to carry a cell phone that can be used in the event of an emergency. Older kids should know where they can go, what etiquette they must follow, safety rules, carry a flashlight or a lit device, and have an absolute deadline for returning home.
Purchased costumes should be made of flame-retardant material. Costumes should also be reflective of the local weather. Some parents overdress their kids so that they sweat and are uncomfortable in costumes that are very heavy or don't "breathe." Others freeze in skimpy costumes or those made of thin material. Trick or treating is for children; comfort and safety should come before a parent's reluctance to have a child wear a coat over a costume.
Insist that your child goes to the bathroom BEFORE leaving the house. And, be considerate of your child's bathroom needs by not choosing a costume that is difficult to get on and off in time to avoid last-minute bathroom needs, if at all possible.
Never allow children to eat candy before it is inspected. Any opened candy should be thrown away, and unless you personally the families who make homemade goodies, it is recommended that you dispose of homemade treats. Immediately toss any items that are suspect in any way, and get rid of (either through donation or throwing away) any treats that your kid doesn't like. Some parents also put away some candy and save for later or set rules allowing kids to eat all they want for a designated period, then dispose of the rest."
To this he blinked and looked down at the candy bar then back up to Banana who had a similar expression of 'whoops' on her face. Hurriedly changing the subject, Banana flew away from Oni’s shoulder to sign, [ Whats Trick or Treating? ]
It was like watching a little kid explain the wonders of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. "What’s Treak or Treating? Why, the best damned thing ever! You get to go around wearing a costume and get candy from people. Or playing games like toilet papering houses or egging windows or smearing soap on windshields.."
Banana tilted her head curiously, [ Wait, arent those bad things to do, though? ]
"Goodness, No! People love it! Honestly. I think they only yell because they can’t participate in the holidays and take it out on everyone though." He said sitting back in his chair to rub at his chin. Oni himself already had a marred vision of what Trick or Treating really was about having been brought up around anthros who thought that the tricking was the best part, free candy was an added bonus. "So , Tiki Torch, what do you think?"
Banana thought on this, it did sound like a lot of fun, and she did find the Snicker’s bar to be quite tasty even if it hurt her stomach a little. She nodded happily and gave him a thumb’s up. Oni cheered just as a familiar spiney head came into view above the table top.
"Do I smell chocolate?" Came Peggity cooed pulling herself up the rest of the way. For once she was wearing a dress with a neatly sewn petticoat. Banana grinned widely and divebombed the elderly hedgehog maid with a bear hug. She whooped as she fell squarely on her plump backside, embracing the little feien happily. "Hoho! Oh my, deary! You caught me off guard there! How are you two this evening?"
"Banana’s agreed to go trick or treating with me, aint that great?? We just need to come up with a costume." Oni replied breaking what was left of the candy bar into two bits to share with Peggity. May as well finish it, right?
"Isn’t, Dear." Peggity corrected politely nibbling daintily at her bit of candy bar. She licked at her fingertips and dusted off her hands as she set Banana down from her lap. "Costume, hm? Lets see what we have to work with here." She tipped her head back peering at the girl through her bifocals. "Scary or cute?"
Banana tapped a finger at her chin, deep in thought. [ Maybe a mix of both somehow? ] Oni had gotten up and gotten a costume catalog that came in the mail earlier that month.
"Let’s see, A Witch? No too common.. Cat? …the same.. Vampire.. Same.." He sighed flipping the pages. Unfortunately, most of the costumes were typical fare. Nothing stood out too loudly that was until They flipped to the adult costumes and Banana hopped and pointed to one in particular that had them all piqued with interest. The girl was somewhat full figured and was wearing a bee costume. Peggity looked the costume over then looked to Banana. "We could do that, Id just need enough material to make the tail and some fluff for the details." She calculated aloud. "Yes, I can make this." She folded her paws against her skirts, "Think you could get me at least a yard of yellow fabric and some black? Maybe a bit of wire oh and I think I have some dying materials if you could just get some fluff." Oni nodded obediently and wrote the notes down on a scrap of paper.
"We’ll go back out tomorrow to get it. That okay, Banana?" Oni asked tacking the note up on the fridge. She nodded and gave Peggity another hug. [ Thank you so much! ] The hedgehog maid smiled and gave the feien a tight snuggle. "It’s no problem at all deary. I love to sew."
