I had an epidural. I didn't have any problems pushing, but like I said its a personal decision. I can't concentrate with that much pain.

I'd consider it then if I were like that...but surprisingly, I tend to be able to manage my pain quite well. How, I don't know...but I do. Given, I've never had pain on that level before...but if my past pain experiences are any indication, I really think I'll be fine with some non-epidural pain meds. 3nodding It's just needles that make me want to cry. I can break bones and even be stabbed, and be fine...but get a needle near me, and I start looking for the nearest exit. xd

I never saw the needle. Thank god. I told them I hated needles. So, they didn't show me the needle. They just said it would feel like a pinch. They made me hug a pillow and try to stay very still.

Report that woman! That is totally unethical and wrong. I told my husband, who's a nurse too, and he said those kinds of statements can make you lose your job. I would voice your concerns to the hospital and ask that she is not around you at all.

I gained 52lbs when I was pregnant with G. Near the end, I even gained 10lbs in 2 weeks. I was so upset about that that I started crying in the doctor's office. She looked over everything just to make sure I didn't have preeclampsia or gestational diabetes symptoms, but everything was ok. I don't remember being lectured at all for gaining too much weight, but then again, I was pregnant, and my memory was really bad then. >.>

How awful that woman would tell you that! Definitely report her or at least tell your doctor about her.

I had a cranky nurse when I was in labor. She tried 3 times in each arm to get the IV needle in right and couldn't. It was like she wasn't even trying to do it right. When I told her I did not the needle in the back of my hand at all, another nurse magically appeared. She was much nicer (and it turned out that she had gone to hs with my mom who was in the room with me).

arghhh..same thing happend to me the last couple of weeks with one of my pregnancy's and also a nurse was like dang..why did you do that?..you can't go gaining like that!... surprised confused ..I was concerned enough but the fact she had to say it in that manner made me feel just aweful and in front of my hubby..I mean for goodness sakes isn't bad enough how we sometimes feel all uncomfortable and on top of that be told that..I felt teary eyed myself when the nurse said that to me.. confused ..and in my first pregancy I was also put down for not gaining enough that time..she was like eat already...we can't have you coming back the next check up and not gaining a certain amount..how rude man!!

I fired my first doctor, when I was pregnant with Alexis for the same thing. He actually told me, with a history of being hospitalized for anorexia, that my throwing up constantly and losing 20 pounds my first two months of being pregnant was perfectly normal and that since i was laready overweight, I should treat this like a diet...that I shouldn't worry about the baby because it will just "leech off the fat I have stored up". I was not only horrified but totally humiliated. I fired him later that day and got in to see one of his partners who ended up being a SUPER doctor (he was even featured on "A Baby Story" episode) and delivered both of my babies for me. The bad thing was that he was on the on call rouster for the hospital where I was to deliver so I had a 1 in 7 chance of getting him to deliver me. Luck was on my side for once and my doctor delivered Lexi instead - then Brendan was a scheduled C-section so I was guaranteed to have my doc!
