The Steampunk Town Project seems to have hit a significant obstacle; namely that the towns system (as it stands now) isn't very conducive to allowing people to move together. Everyone moving together is unfeasible, but mules reserving spots doesn't work either, as when moved interlopers are frequently automatically placed where they were.
So anyway, I'm thinking we just do a giant map, which links to every town. Discuss more in the subforum.

Important Stuff, This!
Given the recent popularity of the notions of a 'Charity' and 'Comic'; said projects have now been moved to these subforums:
New Crystal Palace! One the home of the (short-lived) charity that used to reside here. Now it can be home to the new one!
Graphical Novel Project! A new forum - for everything even remotely pertaining to the notion of presenting the Anachronism and fellows upon it in comic-style.
In other news: I am gradually moving various threads to subforums where they would be more fitting. If your thread goes missing, look there! If you object to my moving, please do not hesitate to contact me, and it shall be moved back post-haste.

As some of you may have noticed, I have been working on filtering threads at the bottom of the front page into their proper homes. So I hope you all are starting to check the subforums. (Polite request from your staff, GO CHECK THE SCIENCE SUBFORUM.)
I am only leaving in place on the front page Steampunk related discussions that do not already fall into the domain of one of our specific subforums.
But as you may have noticed, a handful of these have already gathered. I'm running out of an influx from the second page. Which means, dear Anachronauts, that I am going to soon have to begin working my way upward.
I am, for the present until decided otherwise, going to take a policy of leaving in place any thread that has had replies within a month. If a thread has not had a reply within a month, I will filter it.

Brace yourselves. I'm shortening the limit to three weeks, in order to clear more room on the front page. Anything more than 21 days idle that belongs elsewhere is going to be moved.

The sub-forums are need of an overhaul, which I will give them all as soon as I can. It will be chaotic, as I intend to reorder them in a much more logical manner (and a few may change function). For a brief time, this will lead to a lot of threads being where they are not supposed to be. However, I assure you it will be worth it. Significant benefits include:
- A more logical order of the sub-forums. - Each sub-forum being more defined as to what it contains, cutting down ambiguity.
In all, they sub-forums will be better, and (frankly) make more sense.
In a nutshell: Chaos will briefly ensue, followed by shiny new sub-forums.
NOTE!
I've begun to sort things out, and in the process (as per Mylian's suggestion) have made one sub-forum for the sole discussion of the written word. In the process, a number of other subforums (specifically: Steampunk Shopping, Arts and Crafts, and Arts and Media) have been altered as well.
There is now:
the Library - for the discussion of steampunk samples of the written word, books, short stories, poetry etc.
the Theatre - for all manner of visual steampunk delights, television, film, ...
the Museum - for discussion of more physical embodiments of steampunk; such as steampunk modifications of everyday items, machines, devices, sculptures, art.
the Shopping Arcade - purely things you can buy, be this to flaunt your own goods, or to point other members in the directions of shops catering for steampunk tastes (be it fashion or otherwise).
the Factory - where you can discuss anything steampunky that you, or other members, have made (no matter what it is) - e.g. items of clothing, art.
I accept there is overlap (especially with regards to things you've made); but I hope this is the best arrangement. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them (PM is preferred).
And yes, I know I have not created the Museum yet. It will be created when I begin the mass re-shuffle of the sub-forums.

In a few days, I will be shortening my policy to two weeks, considering the increased activity we've been seeing. There's a nice cushion of relevant discussion at the bottom of the front page that I'm doing my best to preserve.

I will be working my way up the front page soon, oldest threads moving first. Don't be offended if your thread gets moved.

ATTENTION:
All past discussion in Central has been filtered. What you see on the first page is it, and I will work to keep it that way.

I'll try to pitch in on the thread migration between subforums, as I see there is still a lot of work to do there, now that it seems the subforums are all properly named and ordered.

I've been working on cleaning the new Museum. A note, I've been filing threads of significant historical value in the Science wing as well.

Well, I just finished cleaning out then filling in Gaia by Gaslight, the Amusement Arcades, Graphic Novella Project, and Character Profiles. I've also been moving threads to the Library and the Museum, most of which came from the Airship Docks -- there are still a lot of misplaced threads in the Airship Docks, but I've been at this for 3 hours and I think I'm done for the day... gonk

All misplaced threads have been moved out of the Museum. It is clean.
Airship Docks have been cleared of debris.
Pages one and two of the Library are clean.
As I've been moving threads I find I seem to be following a basic rule of thumb about "I am making/have made (X)" threads. If it's craft-store level, I've been putting it with fashion in Shopping. If it's more involved tinkering, I've been sending it to the Factory. And REALLY complex stuff that involves discussion of heavy theory, like the hovercraft/hoverboard thread I ship right over to Science.

Here's how it is...
Currently, I'm working on a few things around the guild, make it all spiffy like and such. Ideally, I'd like for several things to be going on at once (with other's assistance); but alas some things must be done first.
Namely, I'm first working on getting a new and/or finalised design for the Anachronism. Why must this be done? So it's as good as it can be when it comes to the guild artwork and comic projects.
After this is done, of course, plenty of new guild artwork will be being produced (I hope), I can work on the written part of the guild's setting more, and the comic can get underway properly.
